Su Huayi became the vicious adopted son with the same name in a novel about the struggle of the rich.

He was adopted as a child into the Su family. He was beautiful but with a scorpion’s heart. He repeatedly persecuted his older brother and tried to take over the family business.

Su Huayi transmigrated at a time when the original owner was up to his usual schemes.

He crawled out from under his elder brother’s bed and looked up to meet the latter face-to-face.

Su Chi’s expression was sullen: “What are you doing here?”

Su Huayi shyly bowed his head: “… I wanted to give you a surprise.”

*

As the eldest son of the Su family, Su Chi not only managed the family business but also had to take care of his younger brothers. He was planning to give that malicious adopted brother some trouble, to let him know that the sea of bitterness has no end and that he should turn a new leaf…

Su Huayi: It all depends on the waves.

Su Chi: “…”

To protect himself, Su Huayi acted coquettish to the point of no return, but he did not notice that the look in his elder brother’s eyes had gradually changed.

Sweet fluffy all the way. I regret I didn't learn Chinese. The way they trade words/idioms.🤣🤩🤪👻T hey are so funny and non stop all the way.

While someone complain about the smut scene... You guys have o understand the censorship. If not we will just get direct To next morning blackout instead. Just change the flower plum to crysthenum flower instead and the ink pen into you know what, , 😈😈. Then everything is simple.

It's a solid novel, but nothing special. If you like this kind of fluffy/silly novel, then you'd probably enjoy it. Someone compared to high quality junk food, and I agree. It's not the most exciting or unique story, but it's written stably.

The MC isn't annoying like some clingy shous, so I appreciate that. He's cute and a bit dumb. Not super interesting, but normal enough.

The ML...I like how he roasts people?

Personally, it's not my type. More objectively, it's pretty average but written well.

Just a review for myself to remember why I paused this. No major spoilers merely a review aimed at myself. 😅

Spoiler

The main good thing about this is that this author is capable of a lively turn of phrase. The MC can come out with some silly quirky ways of saying things and the ML is genuinely a bit biting with his sarcastic responses:

Father: Why did you two come out of the door together?

ML: Where should we have come out of, the chimney?

(From memory, so not verbatim probably.)

It's pretty fun to have an ML with a bit of personality like that. The author does also provide nice supporting characters. Although none of them are deep and all of them basically serve as backdrop for the MC and ML, there is some sense of different personalities for most of them, especially the other two adoptive brothers. That is the limit, though.

The whole story, although pleasant, is one where you somewhat have to check your brain at the door. Don't examine too rigorously. And we're getting a totally stereotypical naive dumb baby shou x perfect powerful doting gong (doting but at the same time is as biting with his sarcasm to his MC love as he is to everyone else).

And the MC... urgh, so, I genuinely like the sweet and slightly naive MC x powerful and protective/nurturing ML combo when done well. This isn't. The MC is just so extremely baby it's hard to bear. Sure, this body he's now in its more fragile and prone to illness (when it suits the author), but the MC can't walk without tripping and being caught by the ML, can't get undressed or dressed without getting tangled and helped out by the ML etc. etc. It's like... how on earth did he even make it out of the house each day back in his original world with no ML to do everything for him??

And we don't really get any backstory on the MC other than that he seems to be an orphan or not really have reliable family and has completed some kind of degree to do with law. And so when he enters into business with his friends, he actually is shown as the only one with ideas and has a absolutely no issues. Somehow he managed not to trip or get tangled in his clothes even once...

Which is fine, but it's dramatically inconsistent with how immensely childlike he acts the rest of the time. It's cute a bit, but a lot just starts to make the whole story feel inane. I haven't really been given enough to understand why he's so cutesy s*upid hopeless but sometimes not. I think I get the balance and nuance the author was going for but it is not pulled off, it just feels illogical within the story. It's not that I dislike the character - the author often makes him feel lively - it's just not enough to carry me past the poor aspects of how he written.

And really, truly, nothing is really happening. (Wait, isn't the ML supposed to be the "protagonist" of the original story??? We never even find out what was supposed to happen to him originally.) Events so that the MC and ML can banter and flirt, which is sort of fine, but once again we get the tired old thing where the MC is constantly scolded/warned not to stir up the constantly h**ny gong. Like, I get that in this story it is supposed to show that the ML is not a robot, that he feels deeply for the MC and is deeply attracted to and affected by everything the MC does (i.e. "romantic"), but it's really tiresome that he MC can barely even breathe without a "Don't provoke me, " from the ML. And we're getting events that are basically pointless other than to provide opportunities for interactions like these.

Again, I get that a lot of people like stories that just have a lot of teasing interactions and fluff, eventually leading to all the typical milestones of romance and intimacy. But In not finding it interesting.

Kudos to the third brother who has figured things out early and voluntarily runs interference. Bah to the domineering MC (oldest brother) who still jealousy intimidates and squashes him every time he gets close to the MC, who he likes a lot as a brother. Why is it cool to be a jerk.

I'll admit, I thought the reviews that I'd read here prior to starting were probably from the type of reader who has low tolerance for naive MCs and doesn't like or wasn't in the mood for one of those simple, lightweight danmei confections. But no, this one comes close, the author can clearly write that kind of story and there's enough in this one to have me pause it rather than decidedly drop it, but ultimately they fail to really satisfy me with this one.

This plot line has so much potential but it's just so bland! I get that it's a slice of life, but more world and character building would make this great. Character development is lacking as well. I really tried reading till the end but by chapter 40 or so, I got so bored. The comedy is more of "sarcastic snarky" comments from the ML and s*upidity (which a lot of people found unlikable but I actually found it cute) from the MC. Was hoping I completed and liked this one,... more>> but sadly, nope. <<less

Ok. This is my first time writing review, so bear with me.

What I love about this is the

    • banter between MC and ML before and after relationship
    • Every banter in story between characters
    • The writer and translator did phenomenal job in writing and translating it; definitely enjoyed
    • The romance man!! Chef kiss
    • Papapa scene - you need to be well versed in bls
    • The side characters - though not much about them in story but whatever was there I enjoyed it
Now what I would have loved more

    • More about MC's past
    • More about the novel he transmigrated into - I mean while reading it I was still thinking about what happened to novel plot
    • Love rival - he was just here and there in story
    • Less control of ML over MC - I mean throughout the story I felt like MC didn't interacted much with other people
One more thing which doesn't fit right with me was the pace of relationship ; falling in love then relationship and then marriage all this happened within ~1 year. I mean I am not expert in relationship but this fast, just not able to digest it.

Overall, if you want to read light novel and only fluff go for it!!

Special mention: I love MC's hair.

I don't understand. I thought MC wanted to get along with the 3 brothers but he's clearly hitting on the eldest one. Even after the big brother said that MC should watch his manners, MC only did that to the 3rd brother (the 2nd is tsundere so there's no need) and still clinged to the eldest.

I don't mind about it much but the MC's obliviousness made it a little bit hard to read.

I agree with some of the other reviewers, this is a novel that is pretty hard to finish. It starts out OK as characters get introduced and slowly fleshed out and the romance slowly emerges; but near the halfway point, the flat, stereotypical romantic couple makes continuing the novel a bit tedious.

MTLed, the smut scenes are pretty bad. I can understand the need for censorship, but everything is just weird metaphors about describing flowers and maps.

As for the story itself... it's a pretty braindead story. Idk if it's worth the whole 88 chapters.

I think ppl who like sweet fluffy novels will either love this, per many reviews, or be bored half way through because for all his cuteness (even his hair strands do cute things! Which was actually kinda funny), MC’s super baby act just gets a little nauseating after a while. He’s almost 20, not 3! Some novels were MC starts out as a kid doesn’t have him act that naively innocent and dumb. All that shy, coquettish coyness, from his tone, his hair, to his body language, coming from a... more>> girl MC might fly but from a boy, even a shou, is just blurgh after a while. Plus, he never actually does anything, other than acts dumb and weak and clumsy so that he can be saved by his older brother, who can then show off his extreme possessive streak at every turn, even against his other brothers, parents and friends. Just too cliche.
Anyway, story started out cute but then became too much, esp because nothing literally happens! There’s no conflict or tension or anything happening to balance the inane flirting and MC acting like a constant simpering airhead. So read if you just want brainless fluff, with cutesy weak MC who can’t walk two steps without tripping and hurting himself and has skin that bruises from the simplest touch. The disparity is just too much. Novels with a strong MC and ML who can support each other equally and face struggles together are much more satisfying than ones where dominant gong must constantly protect and assert his dominance over pitiful shou who’s so helpless he can’t even dress himself without help. Dropped. <<less

Cute, a good easy deload read but the plot didn't live up to the potential. The fact that their in*est was so easily accepted by everyone, no real conflict after the ML started warming up to the MC, no mentions of transmigration after the like first 12 chapters, and the 2nd ML was soooo short lived. In fact, the 2nd brother shouldve been the 2nd ML. He gave the vibe of a potential love interest at first. He was mysterious and dangerous considering the original plot but suddenly he finds... more>> out about CPs relationship and the only thing hw does is make a few remarks after wards. <<less

3.5 *

sometime I don't get the meaning of the idioms they used.

Spoiler

first, I feel kind of disappointed with the 2nd brother's setting author put him in. Author probably thought it was funny to show how everyone forgot his existence and MC's strand of hair got more attention than he was. He's actually an interesting character, a serious man with secret affection over doll--i guess?

second, I know there is comedy tag in it, but after reading for awhile I get tired of the banter. There are no serious element either in their line of work, or in the talk of their relationship, and even in sexy time they still joke around sheesh.

third, the transmigration part is shallow. At the beginning author mentioned of some golden finger? That golden finger is only MC's knowledge of the novel. There are no golden fingers. Also, MC throw away his original identity a few second too fast. There are some mentioned about his previous life's psychological condition, but MC is just a happy go lucky person, what is sadness what is loneliness?? Better trade idioms with ML to make the plot seems well-literate.

in my opinion, his actions are just an upgrade level of the original's : being coquettish and blowing rainbow farts. But since he's the MC, the rainbow farts are blown in a more right timing and the people around intoxicated by this smell more than when the original's did it. Well, it's called the MC's halo.

[collapse]

I finish it though. Out of sight, out of mind. <<less

Another falling for my bro who’s not my bro story...

Very cute, although kind of dragging towards the end. I love MC’s sense of humor; I wish I knew more about Chinese idioms so I can actually get the full satisfaction of his jokes & references. Alas that is not the case. Props to the TL for all the explanations; you’re awesome! This novel’s a transmigration story that doesn’t really feel like one. I forgot half of the time that it was technically a transmigration. MC enters into the body... more>> of Su Huanyi, an adopted & ambitious troublemaker who wishes to establish his position in his adopted family. It’s the whole “I was once irritating but now I’m a cute dumpling” reversal method. ML is not as deranged as the one from Silkpants & that’s usually my bottom line when it comes to these types of plots. As long as there’s mutual consent. ML dotes on MC very much so I’m pleased with the story.

The plot is very shallow. I’d say just read it for the interactions rather than the overall story. It’s more enjoyable that way <<less

Not what I expected~ It’s romance-centric, with a lot of dry humor interspersed. In fact, the overall tone of the story is very comedic. There are tons of one-liners and witty banter. Probably not a good thing for beginners in Danmei, it can be a bit hard to understand if you don’t know the meaning of the jokes (which I think the TL-ers did a great job translating). Ah, I ended up dropping the novel though cause I’m looking for something else. I’ll come back to reread this self-indulgent fluff... more>> when I have the time! By the way...

The main premise is that the MC transmigrates into a troublemaking white lotus (though the original wasn’t a very good one). From then on, he pretty much builds relationship with his new family — especially with the eldest brother, the ML~ It’s not as dramatic as the summary may imply. As mentioned, the tone is very light and humorous. So there are not many ups and downs. Mainly it’s the MC acting cute and coquettish unknowingly and a lot of banter. Overall very down to earth. Kind of one-note, in sense. So if you’re looking for something exciting, then this isn’t it. This is definitely a relax and chill kind of novel you read to pass the time.

No detailed review cause I’m far from finished T.T just leaving it at this for now. Will rate it later as well. <<less

The sense of humor is great, every dialogue that comes out of the MC's mouth is entertaining and has a narrative that's carried through the entire novel. The ML gets along with the MC by doing cross talk together. Its a performance piece; an art, for the audience. I absolutely love it. The ML also has more personality than just cold successful CEO, he has alot of dry humour, is a straight forward dude, a little like an old granny, always waiting for a performance and has a sarcastic mouth... more>> he isn't afraid of featuring in the scenes. It's refreshing!!

They're like an old married couple in a way, but the MC is brazen, white lotus (sand sculpture) and coquettish. The ML isn't as cold and hard as he looks, I love how him being quite sarcastic and wanting to express that alot is a part of his personality. The confession (around ch48-50) is also very nice, it was very straight forward and there was not alot of panic. It was just like the rest of the novel - 'oh ok' and then look see attitude to what comes next. It adds to the overall humour when you get sneak peaks of each side's perspective so you know what they're going through.

Although it's not perfect -- some of the work-line just gets dropped after a while, but it's fine because this novel is rather interesting. Instead of the love-line progressing, it's fairer to say the love-line is pretty consistent --- the MC flirts, everyone reacts the same way, but the only progressing here is the ML's slowly being boiled in warm water until he progressed the love-line on his own into realizing he likes the MC.

Basically, nothing outside actually shifts. The MC doesn't quit flirting, nothing drastic happens to hasten the plot of make it anymore heart-pounding. No kidnapping, no jealous very dramatic/drastic love rival, no drug/r*pe scenes. The only thing that changed is the ML going through emotional development and realizing he likes the MC. It's so interesting, Ive never seen a novel that does this before and I love it. Like, not in a metaphorical 'I now see you in a softer light' way that's cheesy -- this novel still has the ML biting back just as before, nothing's changed. It also does a very commendable job of cutting back the grease. It's fun without being cheesy, it's flirty without being oily. I like it! <<less

Absolutely hilarious novel with rich and playful banter between the protagonist and the side characters. So far every chapter has made me laugh--it's a really fun and enjoyable read when you're in the mood for something comedic! The story is very aware of the tropes in its genre and plays on them to humorous effect. Interested to see where the romance develops between the MC and ML as you can already feel the romantic pull between their personalities under the hilarious interactions.

Dropping it for now.

So far I just find it dull. The comedy factors between the family members were mostly of the teasing, jokes, sarcasm, etc and nothing really spoke to me.

I don’t mind adoptive brother romance sometimes if the chemistry is good but this one just doesn’t sit right with me. MC is a soft and coquettish kind of character with a stern (initially) ML. With all their banter, I would rather them be progressing to be close brothers instead of lovers tbh.

Oh well. Not my thing so I’m dropping... more>> it. May revisit one day. <<less

Good for a fun mindless read.

I saw the tag lack of common sense, and also other reviews so I was prepared for a dumb MC, so it was fine for me.

Definitely one of the most artistic novel in terms of describing the papapa scenes. Lmao. The censorship is afraid of the author. Lol.

... more>> Not a big fan of brothers falling in love, even adopted brothers are kinda a no, but this one was kinda fine I guess, thousand times better than rebirth of wolfish silkpants...

If you're bored n just looking for a fun read to pass time, this novel is for you.

Enjoyable slow burn, but I do feel like a lot of the plot points are casually dropped in the mission to move to the next bit of fluff. Really enjoyable for the fluff and the relationships between MC and the family, kinda wish that instead of doing some halfhearted Other Plot that it just focused on the fluff. Hence, 3.5/4 stars. Would have been a 4 fully if it weren't for the clear attempt at Other Intrigue that was consistently dropped in as more of a bytheway than an actual... more>> thought.

Putting next bit under spoilers as it's plot and event specific

Spoiler

Ooh, the original character was socially inept and ridiculed by everyone! How will he get through-- oh he kind of glides through with the two named characters who seemed to really dislike him in that initial start but now are business partners kinda.

Business partners? Yes! Some proactive work, knowing that he's been taken off the household register he's investing in a wine company-- casually dropping in there that his OG not-character self went to law school (never brought up or shown again) and while it's mentioned a few more times it's more to make reference to why we're revisiting the friends.

The casual mention of having studied law is a frustrating mention because when he's working with his brother he's literally left reading a dictionary while Big Bro/ML goes off doing other things. While it could be suspicious him knowing a bunch of legal jargon, the fact that he doesn't do some self study to then justify that hey, he happens to have a mind for law, isn't that convenient?

[collapse]

Again, even outside of spoiler zone, 2/3rds of this is kind of softening the relationship between MC and the rest of the family (minus the parents) and then a switch is flipped where the family register thing is revealed and ML is abruptly hot for MC. Were things set in the past that could explain this closeness? Kinda. But while MC is focused on the ML as he's the Protagonist, that Big Bro is also the ML had me literally 50+ chapters in going Ah, Right, there's a ML.

Enjoyable but will be putting it on pause to finish reading later <<less

things to take note of:

-MC is transmigrator and they are not biologically brothers and OG MC has been removed frm the house registry when he turned 18

-When they start dating they are not related BTW.

  • chtrs: 8/10
  • setting: 9/10 (office, home?)
  • overall: 9/10
  • comments: its a very comedic mature business romance novel just that it can be a little confusing especially when they *omitted* cos the author does not directly say what they are doing but uses brush references ah donno wat else anyways if u have not read greenery CN references before u 100% wont understand what the author is sayin plus they use a lot of idioms too which is funny yes but also its overused in the novel and it can be confusing for newbies overall I enjoyed the whole dynamic frm the ML family to MC to the side chtrs all of them were very well written
  • MC = transmigrator, finance major, funny, cute, adorable
  • MC is also very smart btw but very cute and adorable the amt of screentime his hair gets though LOLL eitherways he is very funny I wish they showed more parts of him taking charge of the side branch cos I want to see his working serious side
  • ML = cunning, business god, cold faced, doting to MC, probably has a shrine of MC somewhere
  • LIKEEE he is literally so whipped for MC and so straightforward too which is a gd thing this couple is very straightforward and chaotic
