Third Miss Luo relies on her father’s power to create chaos everywhere and is notorious for bullying the weak. When she had nothing to do, she led a group of servants to the streets to flirt with beautiful and handsome boys. For Princess Qingyang, if this kind of person dared to behave wildly in front of her, she would just kill her with a single finger—until she opened her eyes again and found that she became Third Miss Luo, Luo Sheng.

This novel is a rather interesting mix. The author pulled it off nicely. It is a revenge novel, definitely, but there's also cooking, business career, scheming, family, friends and all the good things. I loved it! A long novel but it kept me interested until the end.

Story is about a noble girl (A 3rd rank princess, daughter of a non-imperial king) who was killed tragically in her wedding's day as she returned to her maternal home to find her family accused of treason, surrounded and in the middle of a... more>> bloodbath. She woke up in a different body, the beloved daughter of the imperial's army commander who had supposedly hanged herself after being rejected by a man she liked. This girl was well known to be unruly, reckless and with a liking for robbing handsome men to take them home as playthings.

Soon, she found out 12 years had passed since her original family's execution and that the original's owner su*cide attempt was actually a failed mu*der attempt! So she set two goals for herself: to get revenge from the ones who caused her family's downfall and to solve the mu*derer to repay the original owner of the body

Pros:

-MC is not the typical ruthless revenged obsessed girl who kills everyone who offends her and has no guilt because she suffered such a tragic fate that the world deserves to burn. She was determined to get revenge from her previous life's groom (childhood friend) and his family because she was sure they were involved, but when it came to the other possible culprits, she made sure to determine if they were guilty before targeting them. She sounds cruel in the summary but she was actually just a proper, proud beloved noble lady who is willing to stake her rebirth on making sure the culprits of her whole clan's death couldn't get away with it.

Spoiler

Actually, her current father (Luo Commander) was the one who led the siege and execution of her previous life family. She hated him at first but had to play nice for convenience of her plans, then she noticed he wasn't a bad person and gave him the benefit of doubt to learn about the whole picture back then, eventually really recognized him as her father. On the other hand, she couldn't allow herself to accept the ML for a loooong time because although she didn't hate him, she hated his family and supposed they'd end up in opposing sides

[collapse]

-She has her morals. She didn't want to sacrifice innocents for her revenge but prioritized the safety of her loved ones when needed. She didn't disdain the former owner of the body despite of their differences. She was thankful and even adopted some traits from her
Spoiler

(she learned to be outspoken and live freely, regardless of others opinions)

[collapse]

-The friends and family are lovable characters with characteristics of their own. She truly cared about them and did her best to protect them.

-Satisfying character development for MC, she used her knowledge about people and the resources at her reach quite wisely to get what she wanted. Her skills are mostly reasonable
Spoiler

still exaggerated but at least not so far fetched etiquette, silver tongue, martial arts, cooking skills and godly scheming

[collapse]

-No third parties!

-HE not the common trope
Spoiler

MC and ML won't become empress and emperor or go traveling around, although they do end up in high places

[collapse]

-No gender bias
Spoiler

(that is to say, we don't have every man falling for MC or every woman turning into jealous b*tches or crazy obsessed enemies. Most characters are actually nice or morally grey

[collapse]

Cons

-I don't how what to say about the ML. On the plus side, he's not problematic, a powerful "war god" imperial relative, quite reasonable, even gentle and a foodie who couldn't get away from MC after tasting her cooking even though when he met "her" (Ori!Luo girl) she actually pulled off his belt in public. I love that he's not a forceful as*hole or scheming iceberg.
Spoiler

But... the story is so MC focused that we rarely get to see him in his element and his backstory didn't play much of a role. Most of the time, he's a foodie rich costumer, extremely perceptive wild card or helpful ally. It would have been nice for his character to have more chances to develop and show other sides of him apart from the powerful, smart, foodie, clueless or curious moments.

[collapse]

-Romance is not big here. ML appears early and is a constant beside MC, but they don't have many romantic moments. He doesn't realize he likes her until the plot is quite advanced (around 400 chapters, I think) and he's so respectful and caring that he's not really chasing her, just patiently waiting for her to accept him. I'm not unhappy about it but nothing actually happens until the end.
Spoiler

that is to say, they only officially get together around the second to last chapter although everyone was expecting it

[collapse]

-MC kept her secrets
Spoiler

she mentioned wanting to reveal her identity to her long lost previous life brother but never did so. As far as I know she only told her previous life's handmaidens. It made sense for her to at least tell the little brother and ML during the final part

[collapse]

-Ending felt kind of rushed, I wish there were more extras.

I recommend it if you like historical revenge novels! Beware, the romance is minimal and the novel is long. <<less

Extra short review this time.

Novel not recommended to read, mainly to skim main events if curious.

Novel starts with “reborn” MC princess becoming the spoiled Luo daughter who was actually mu*dered.

... more>> She immediately acts super out of character, pretends she has amnesia to her maid, easily outwits and catches the true mu*derer, and has godlike medicine powers of knowing legendary pills to cure colds. The novel continues this trend with MC wanting to discover what happened to her family and the continuing ridiculous over the top events.

The scenarios are not particularly described or detailed, with a lot of awkward perspective cuts to other people such as the Mc’s cousins. As with your typical rebirth novel, everyone is shocked and amazed at how great MC is and how she is now a stunning beauty and very sharp etc. MC has a number of unbelievable skills and of course access to hidden secrets. Later romance is particularly weirdly written and rather pointless.

Nothing particularly well written, but nothing supremely offensive. -300mil/10 Not worth the time to read. <<less

The story plot is nice. But I gave up because there were too many chapters (542).

Still would recommend, that is if you are into good stories in historical context.
Spoiler

Btw it is a revenge story

This is by the same author as 'Time is Slow' which is another sprawling revenge piece (800 chapters that one if I remember correctly) but this story despite being shorter suffers from some tonal whiplash. Yes, it's a revenge story, but there's a lot of humor, and food p*rn/cooking sprinkled throughout. I grew to love the characters (and how the story ended--all the plot lines were tied neatly in bows) but I'm only rating it 4 stars (instead of 5) because of how messy it felt until chapter 400 or... more>> so. It would go from someone being brutally mu*dered to a comedic scene at the restaurant... lol.

I did enjoy it a lot though, and I look forward to reading more by this author in the future. The translation is good too. <<less

The same old reincarnation story of revenge, it's not bad but not the best either, just read it if have time to kill.

There's not much romance between the leads, just lots of cooking and half baked conversations first few chapters were slightly interesting but there's no logic or whatsoever in the later few chapters, just everything between the leads feels out of place and really bland.
