Zhou Xu, an interstellar military counselor, was selected by the “will not die in peace” system, and as a result, even though he had a great fear of pain, began his journey as villain, forced to die a terrible death over and over again. Zhou Xu, after going through a hundred worlds and dying a hundred times, finally changed. He wanted to retaliate!

When Zhou Xu crossed for the 101th time, an error occurred in the system.

Zhou Xu, ready for revenge, seized the opportunity, and at last, placed the system under his control.

Really love this novel to the point of reading it several times.

The MC is clever, decisive and experienced due to his time in the military and the 100 worlds. But he can also be very childish and petty which he himself accepts. He can't handle pain but it's not a huge barrier for him that he can't function, rather he will return it back cause he's that petty. Even though he has gone through 100 worlds of pain, he is not evil but he is also not a good person.... more>> His goals mostly focus on fulfilling the original owner's wishes. He is clever enough to accomplish these goals without the help of a system, where the only help he has is the storyline and memories of the previous owner of the body.

The ML is a very lovable. Even though he doesn't do MC's work for him, he will support the MC and also lowkey carry out his own revenge if someone wrongs the MC.

Both the MC and ML are balanced where they can thrive without the other's help, but are a powerful force once they join hands.

Side characters are adorable! I wish we could get more from their pov.

The arcs are rather interesting, but like others said, could use a few more chapters. Some parts I wish could've been stretched longer. But the overall flow is good. The worlds used weren't as new but still had a twist. The main world plotline is.. Interesting.. I didn't understand much of it from MTL so I can't comment. But it was a new take on why he was selected by the system in the first place.

And last but not the least, the translator is doing an amazing job! Waiting for more! <<less

a fairly decent story all together. Many worlds were rather cliche but they were well done within the usual structure (zombies, ABO, ancient history, mermaid, zerg, etc). I admit I skipped most of the chapters with genres I didn't like though. This story not as emotion-driven as some quick wear and not as shallow as some others. The MC isn't as driven and meticulous in his vengeance as the MC in FOD and in many stories if the protagonist leaves him alone, he'll do his own thing. Sadly most of... more>> the time the protagonists are selfish and unable to reflect. However sometimes his vengeance is nothing more than doing nothing in the face of the protagonists own bad choices. None of the protagonists are very good at taking responsibility for their own actions. The ending was long enough and fairly well done and understandable, which is a plus (I've recently read at least one quick wear that left me completely confused and scratching my head and one that abruptly ended with one chapter and most of the plot not explained). There's not a lot of graphic smut and the two leads are very sweet together. The ML is somewhat possessive but nowhere near yandere which makes for a pleasant read with no psycho surprises from the ML. <<less

So I would actually rate this 4.5/5.0 stars but I rounded down.

I've read tons of world hopping novels and I would say this novel is I enjoyed this novel quite a bit!

    • The romance is fun but not always the priority.
    • The ML is so cute and adorable and funny that he always makes me smile.
    • The MC is nifty and cunning and is pretty strong headed to the point where he would take control of a scene without caring about what others thought (usually, as far as I recall).
    • The arcs are enticing, but can sometimes go too fast.
    • the overall story (main world) doesn't come out of no where as the reader goes into the real world between arcs (but that's all I'll say about that). In any case, the main world feels connected to the arcs and the overall story so that it feels like we are progressing in the main plot towards the story climax.
    • And from what I can recall, the most memorable and enjoyable part of the novel is the fact that after each arc, it feels like we are getting a little closer to truth since the author sprinkles clues and hints of the main plot throughout the arcs.
    • (Edit) : just remembered, the second couple is also very adorable. Although we don't get to see them interact with each other until the 2nd to last arc, individually their characters are a lot of fun and very lovable!
      Spoiler

especially the MC's brother!!! He is too pure! And although there is less screen time on the other, he is also very cute especially his reactions to the MC's bullying

      [collapse]
But the story does mostly focus on the main couple and the arc stories.
Now, my peeves... at the moment I can't recall anything that I strictly dislike or left me unfulfilled or confused... I guess my main issue is that I didn't like how easily the arc protagonists were defeated, and how idiotic they can be (well idiotic from the reader perspective). While fate still tried to help them out with luck, it wasn't that effective.

arc list below:

Spoiler

entertainment circle

zombie apocalypse (yum!!!)

Ancient times w/ transmigrated female protagonist

Western Fantasy (?) has mermaids and demons

College w/ autistic MC and cross dressing

interstellar

Business modern

primitive society (yum!!!)

cultivation

modern (ML adopts MC)

voice acting

real world

[collapse]

also, MTLing isn't all that bad and can be generally understood, even the cultivation arc. I'd recommend it cause the s*x scenes are yummy (>////<). But if there is any confusion you can also check this novel's spoiler forum for clarity.

Quite a good read. And I'm kinda biased towards the arcs with lots of fighting and actions. It is immersing and it totally showcases the MC's capability for command and action.

Spoiler

especially the zombie arc and kinda a bit of the interstellar one

[collapse]

The interactions between the ML and MC are really sweet and cute (in some arcs)

I do admit though that a lot of arcs are too tedious to read and just pointless. Like you can skip it coz it isn't interesting and it doesn't have any bearing with the final revelation.

Spoiler

especially the arcs that were nearing the end

[collapse]

This is also the reason why I gave it a -1 star.

And the author somehow kinda loves dog blood drama. Some arcs start off with an interesting premise but the conclusion just crashes and burns

Spoiler

there's an arc where his character wanted to be a majorly known pianist and it ends up with assassination with which the circumstances had totally nothing to do with the premise. The author was so caught up with the love rivalry between the MC and original protagonist that the pianist part was just not focused on.

[collapse]

Spoiler

there's also that part in the interstellar arc in which halfway through it became some noon time drama where the original ML, protagonist, and villain are caught up in some love triangle and they all want to kill each other in a love hate relationship. Again, with which has nothing to do with the MC. The MC was literally watching the show in the shadows coz he was "kidnapped" but managed to free himself and so decided to just watch the show on the side

[collapse]

Overall, even though you can't really expect an active vengeful retaliation from the MC (check rhianirory's review for details) and there are a few annoying arcs, this is still a pretty interesting light read. <<less

Good story but it would have been better if the author made it longer. The story is too fast and found it somewhat lacking.

At first I expected a blackened MC due to being bound to "won't die in peace system" since he died cruelly in every world before he gained control of the system. But I still love the plot.

I also ship some of the girl chara to MC. Too bad that this is a danmei 🤣
