Let’s quit the game. This game has no future.

In the MMORPG game “Karel’s Hymn,” Kwon Jeongwoo, a Tamer user, is part of a scorned class.

Having repeatedly failed to endure until his class got a significant buff, he decides to give up hope.

While selling his expensive items in the auction house, he accidentally meets a newbie named “Charongrong.”

With a light heart, thinking he’ll help out a bit in a game he’s going to quit anyway, he starts a connection.

[Party] Charongrong: Even if I become successful

[Party] Charongrong: And an amazing DPS asks me to join their party

[Party] Charongrong: I won’t abandon you, hyung

[Party] Mocha: That’s touching lol

[Party] Mocha: But if an amazing DPS asks you to join, just go

[Party] Mocha: It’s easier that way

…I shouldn’t have brushed off Charongrong’s words as mere playful banter.

Oh my god, I didn't expect to see one of my favorite BLs get translated here!

This novel is so good and fun. It's basically a game-related novel where MC and ML met by chance and have this "symbiotic relationship", with newbie ML getting help from the "oldbie" MC to level up to become stronger and get his revenge, and MC helping the ML before he quits the game for good. It's so, so cute.

The game is also described so detailed and rich and it feels like a game I would... more>> LOVE to play if it did exist in real life...

And the characters are charming too. Their dynamic is unique, unlike any others I've ever read (especially the mature-rated side story ;)

Anyway, this novel is a breath of fresh air, and I would totally recommend this.

A solid 5/5 stars for me. <<less

Absolutely enamored with this novel. The setting may sound simple, almost inconsequential, but the narrative and writing has so much charm.

Spoiler

Energetic, with amazing chemistry (and occasional conflict) between our two main characters. The novel has a lot of "show, don't tell" moments that, at the right time, hits you straight in the gut.

Jungwoo, our MC, is a soft but level-headed loner. He's aware of his own antisocial ways (to some degree) but it might dawn on some readers that our boy is sorely lacking in the interpersonal department, despite having a social life. It's a willful choice; i.e. Later on in the story, during Jungwoo's "sendoff" party, his narration dulls to reflect his own inner feelings- he describes in detail the group enjoying themselves and getting proper wrecked, but Jungwoo interjects with thoughts of just going home. It's a poignant moment in the story, and you could draw parallels between this and how Jungwoo interacts with the game.

And even before this scene, Jungwoo is a completely straight-laced person- he shows genuine confusion over his previous relationships' failures, but he doesn't hesitate when it comes to drawing boundaries.

I can't stress enough how unique and genuinely refreshing it is to read Jungwoo and Charongrong's banter- an unstoppable (rabid animal, 100% running on spite) force meets immovable ("does he know he's queer?") object.

The fact that the shared lore and communal mythos typically seen and built around MMORPG communities play a narrative role in this novel is batsh*t hilarious. Charongrong is an even more delusional but effective Leeroy Jenkins, and I will live with this knowledge for the rest of my life.

Best moment:

[PartyMocha: I feel like I've given birth to a monster.]

my love for this novel is immense!!! I've been on a hunt for good gaming bl novels after reading guild member next door so I was thrilled to find this one and it didn't disappoint!!!

their relationship is so perfectly my thing! Calm older bottom MC x clingy younger top ML with MC actually being just as possessive! Cat x puppy dynamic is so real with this one and extra fitting since MC has a cat and ML has a dog and they even introduce their pets to each other. And... more>> ML is just ridiculously cute to me, his confessions are all heart warmingly sincere and MC says he wants to put him in his pocket which I absolutely agree with!! It's also really sweet to see their relationship development and both of them making an effort to communicate better.

i really love this story a lot, i've reread it a few times already and even been trying to read the manhwa via mtl! The manhwa seems cute so far but would definitely recommend the novel first! <<less
