Not too bad, especially for a novel that I would normally avoid because of it's "gimmicky" plot. Both the ML and FL are likable characters with distinct personalities and motivations (something which is astonishingly lacking in many novels). I can understand why FL fell for ML, although I think it was rushed a little bit. I would have preferred to see them interact more before she developed feelings for him.

ML is an average, but decent guy. He's not creepy or lame, but he's not exactly a knight in shining armour... more>> archetype either, which is much more realistic. Sometimes when ML's are excessively nice for no reason it can come across as really fake. But this ML is a perfectly normal person. He's polite and responsible when he needs to be, but also isn't excessively invested in people's lives if he doesn't know them that well.

One unique aspect of the writing is that the author will write each chapter twice, once for the FL's perspective, and another for the ML's perspective. Personally I really liked this because I could get a good understanding of both character's feelings about each other as their relationship evolved. I understand some people might not like this because it can feel repetitive after a while, but they can easily just stick to one character's perspective for the whole novel and it probably won't detract their understanding of the plot.

Overall this story is pretty decent, but I would have liked it if there was a bit more depth or nuance to the writing.

Spoiler

For example, FL has an issue with being objectified/used by virtually every single person she meets, which is obviously pretty horrible, but also unrealistic. I have a hard time believing the FL has never met a guy who just wasn't interested in her because she wasn't his type or she's too young for him or because he's already in a loving relationship and isn't interested in any other women. Although there are plenty of horrible human beings in the world, there are undoubtedly at least a few good ones. It's just strange that ML is the only guy who has ever treated her well without having ulterior motives.

I generally don't enjoy the type of romcom premise where the main character is the only one the heroine can tolerate/rely on due to some narrative condition in the form of a supernatural power or a deep-seeded trauma. This one was executed well enough for me to ignore that for the most part. At least there's something well defined about why the main heroine would wish to be involved with the MC, he is genuinely a pleasant dude.

There are a lot of romcom stories setup almost exactly like this one,... more>> but the character interactions in this one due to both of the protagonist's personalities being 'relatively' unique for web novel romcoms sets it apart a bit. Though rather than unique, it would be better to say that both protagonists feel fleshed out in ways that is different enough compared to other romcom characters who embody the same character archetypes (like the loner character or school goddess/saint/whatever kinda cringy title they are given). Overall an enjoyable read. <<less

I like it so far. The readers might be wondering of how fast she fell in love or some sh*t like that but since the author makes time skips. But it's actually kinda realistic. She's suffers from a ton of sh*t and isn't in a right mental condition. Our MC is the typical loner, average looking, probably average everything the author didn't mention it. But he's different he's not the "ohhh I must help this beautiful girl" or "she's talking to me what do I say oh talking to girls... more>> so hard." Those typical protagonists I like his personality he puts himself first and doesn't try to engage in conversation because of this. He has a normal family relationship no sister who hates him or is grossed out by him or loves him to the point of sniffing his underwear. Overall it's nice and cute though the way the fMC is acting in the latest chapters is kinda yandere-ish. <<less

This is probably the second WN I've read about a girl that can read people's minds.

What I like about this one is how the author gives a dual perspective, alternating between the ML and FL's POVs every other chapter so you can experience the story from both sides for greater context (the FL and how she views interactions with her special ability, and the ML and his more straightforward personality). The story may feel like its progressing at half speed as a result, but it also works if you choose... more>> to just read one character's POV chapters.

As like most WNs, the ML is implied to be a mob character in the classroom... but at this point I'd take a normal mob ML over another loner ML who likes to remind himself he's a loner every 5 seconds (who usually always has a friend he chats to anyway). His main redeeming character trait is that he is just a genuine type of dude that doesn't have any ulterior motives with the people he interacts with, treats people courteously, and otherwise prefers to mind his own business and prioritise his hobbies.

I do like how the author has characterised the FL, she's obviously another pretty girl who's beauty is so astronomical that everyone around her is captivated by her (the usual stuff) but this FL is at least given some depth when the author showcases the troubles she has to endure daily as a result of her status and her special ability to read the thoughts around her, which seemed to ground her overall character a bit. Although, you'd think at some point the FL would have a few interactions with people who don't undress her with their eyes, or see her as a status symbol... but then again, she's surrounded by hormonal teens most of the time so maybe its the environment? No excuse for all the adults though.

As for the story itself, I'm getting a little burned out from the usual RomCom stories that follow the same formula but this one managed to pique my interest with its stricter focus on the interactions between the main characters. Wish there were less time-skips between chapters so we could see more of their interactions as they build up their relationship. It's also a shame the chapters end off just as summer break starts, and the story was setting up to make some significant progression in their interactions outside of school.

In summary, I think its worth reading, even if its unfinished and hasn't been touched in a year. <<less
