I'm actually kind of shocked at how negative the ratings are. In my opinion, this is a well-written novel. Though flawed, the MC and ML are both likeable and relatable.

It starts off slow, with several misunderstandings between the "brothers, " and as the story unfolds, we get to know more about these two characters. Behind the calm, composed, always smiling MC is really an inexperienced young man lacking in love and unsure of what to do with his future. On the other hand, the ML seems like the typical unruly,... more>> abandoned orphan, yet there's so much to love about him.

This is also where I disagree with reviewer rhianirory about the MC's supposed change towards the end.
Spoiler

The MC has always been unsure of what to do, allowing his agent to take the reins in his career because he's always been sort of lost, a situation which stems from lack of a secure relationship with his father. One could say that he doesn't change even till the end of the novel, since he gives up his acting career to be with his lover. However, I see it as the MC finally acknowledging what he wants and daring to act upon it. Also, he's always been simple and somewhat immature because of his upbringing and how much his father protected him, so I'm not surprised that the dynamic in their relationship is such that the ML takes the lead most of the time. Even from the start of the novel, we see that the ML is smart, headstrong and rather possessive.

This has been a heartwarming read, and the author does a great job of weaving a beautiful love story between two imperfect souls. I cried a lot when their past was revealed, I smiled as they grew closer and I celebrated when they finally got together. And at the end of the novel, their love made me a little less lonely. <<less

the start of this story is well written for a web novel and most of the story takes place when the ML is still a child (time skips don't start until into the 80s-90s). The beginning is great, and the MC doesn't suddenly become a super-competent caretaker, he's only eighteen and it shows; his fear and annoyance are very relatable and I loved the growth up through the reality show. There are no questionable groping scenes in this one, (RWSPB), though I was a bit disturbed that the fans/press/tv... more>> show was making a romantic CP out of them when the kid was still only 11. Just keep in mind that this story is less about the entertainment field (he just goes with the flow to become a star so he has no ambition or drive) and all about the relationship. The showbiz stuff stutters and falls away and it's barely seen at all after he finishes that movie.

What I didn't like, what brought my score down from the initial 4.5 of the first half or so, was that as the ML grew older, the MC's IQ and EQ seemed to drop until at the end,
Spoiler

he basically became the child in the relationship, letting the ML take control. Most of the last quarter of the story is the MC running away from his feelings. They don't get together until the last ten or so chapters, and I really didn't like the end where the MC decides to drop his identity as a star (and the businesses he's been working on learning) because he can't wait two years for the ML to graduate and return.

I could understand his desire to phase out once he realized he didn't want to continue, (he wanted to be a photographer before his dad died, and his leaving to pursue that dream would make sense, but it's never mentioned after the comment at the beginning of the novel), but he just drops everything and leaves. I felt really bad for the agent.

as the first person to review this novel....i have to say its quite good, amazing actually!

Although its not the saddest or most touching and there's also that concept of 'adopted brother who has slight issues/wandered alone in childhood/miserable' its pretty awesome. Im also quite surprised that this time the ML is actually the financially miserable one in the beginning-its quite fresh. Still, I was dissatisfied with our MC being the passive one... ehmmm! Why is he the shou?!

on a serious note mostly everything in the story is explained rarely any plot holes and if there is its got nothing to do with the main characters mostly. Character development is good but...i have one extreme concern about this book. Its precisely the psychological/mental health of the protagonists-i personally feel that the author was very ambiguous about this... especially concerning the early stage of the ML where he had 'autistic tendencies' and the MC's difficulties of 'fathering this out-of-nowhere child' especially right after his father's death AND knowing about his adoption. I felt like this was something the author could spend a longer time on and you know mention more.

towards the end, him quitting the industry and rushing to the ML, everything felt really rushed. I would have like to known peoples response to the two. Also we are never really told what (MC) his 'dream' was-maybe the author left it for us to ponder?IDK!

THIS BOOK HAS MANY ADVANTAGES I CANT LIST OUT BUT ITS DEFINITELY WORTH A SHOT!

I LOVE THE PROCESS OF GROWTH BETWEEN THE TWO!!!!!

PS; TRANSLATIONS ARE AWESOME SO IS THE MTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanted to leave a review because 4.0 average seems a little low for this story.

It's true that I wish there was more, but that's also because the author does such a good job making you love the characters and really root for them, so then it's a little sad that the happy ending is a little rushed.. BUT it was still really well written, worth a read because Shao Junling is so adorable, and also the extras are fire. Definitely read the extras.

Charity 5 stars. 4.3 at best only because the author somehow messed up with the time skips.

Everything was going on just fine but suddenly around 75% of the story, the author decided to rush development and end it. Plot? Gone and barely there. Character development? Flatlined.

Which is a shame because the earlier parts were good in exploring their personalities and interactions. Even if this wasn't danmei and just a family type novel, accompanying the characters in making sense of the new situation they got dragged into was already engaging by... more>> itself. It's a waste that the author couldn't maintain it. <<less

oh I actually like this. but I'm still thinking there were that many chapters, what on earth most of them were spent on, at the end I still feel like everything was a bit rushed (there was a time when MC and ML shot a reality show and the story did a hard-skip of 4-5 years in less than half a page lol). but I really like the MC and ml.

MC was barely legal when his father died in a plane crash. he was a pampered young master who wanted to spend his life doing whatever he wanted. his father's sudden death put an end to his plans. he was grieving and extremely confused; when his father's ex-agent coaxed him to join the entertainment circle, it was no wonder he finally accepted. when a scandal broke out that his father had abandoned his illegitimate son and had been trying to take him back, MC became sad and resentful since he didn't know about this plan. but when he came to the orphanage, he saw ML being bullied, his heart softened and finally decided to take him back.

ML was actually mc's father's nephew. he had been abused and experienced many traumas. MC and ML obviously didn't get along smoothly from the get go. ML had quite the antics since he was abused in the orphanage too. MC who had always had a smooth life was definitely unprepared to raise him and had a few outbursts.

i really like how MC matured. he tried hard to fulfill his responsibilities. he set some rules to get along with ML and apologized when he realized he did sth wrong to ml. I also like how even though MC had a stable career, he only did okay and wasn't op. finally after nine years in the circle, he decided to retire. it's good that after years of being unsure and followed his agent's arrangements, he finally wanted to search for sth he really wanted to do. he had always wanted a more ordinary and steady life than that of his father's and someone to stay by his side. so I guess that's why he left his job without any burden to stay by ml's side.

ML wasn't the typical domineering CEO. he was a genius in science but his business knowledge was a bit.... lol. when he was a kid, he thought MC was too flashy and wasteful, and he definitely would spend his inheritance money soon. so ML became anxious and wanted to make money quickly to raise MC looool but looks like this thought persisted even until he was in college?? when he said he wanted to quit college, MC asked him, "if you don't study hard, how are you going to make money and raise me?" and ML obediently went back lolll. ML was keen, headstrong and blunt. he suited MC nicely. MC was used to being some sort of a people-pleaser? but ML kept persuading him to reveal his true thoughts and prioritise himself. he also spoiled and took care of MC well.

Okkk so I actually came to really love the story, I reduced a star cause somehow I felt something missing.

Soo I would have given it a full 5 star if only there would have been more chapters of their love growth and happily ever after life. And ohh these are my own opinions maybe it might not seem same to u.

I really liked the story, at first when reading the description and seeing the total amount of chapters I thought they were alot, but now after completing it I... more>> wanted some more chapters about ML and MC.

At the beginning of the story, I felt quite few chapters were way too much detailed of how he got into the acting line etc, it was according to me unnecessary or the should have maintained the same pace of writing the story as I later realized the time skip part and many more there were missing details it just simply showed how time flies fast* (^o^) /** (^o^) /*, I really needed quite a lot descriptive chapters of what happened in the skipped 8 years ಥ_ಥ..

And the early chapters about MC's father's death (Yin Dong's) , I felt the chapter perfunctory, I till end felt as if he was not actually dead and would appear in later chapters.

And after MC's father death, some chapters where the MC's Aunt Yao urges him to appear as in entertainment industry, plzz he just lost his father, I know after someone's death others life do not stops but idk I just felt uncomfortable and felt it was a bit insensitive.

And I actually really liked ML and mc's relationship, at first there was some misunderstandings but with time they ceased to exist. At the beginning MC took ML as his responsibility and easily got irritated and angry at him but when he realized and got to know ML was a gift by his father to him he started loving him and taking care him with his wholeheartedly. It's just I really needed few more chapters how there love started to develop, to me it seemed a bit fast and hasty and there was not much description.

I'm not complaining about the story. The story line is amazing and I really like it very much it's just I need it as same as description as there was in the beginning, I wanted it to be as much as detailed.

But still I would highly recommend it to you all you may really like it so you should give it a try.

I would like to thank the author for the amount of hard work they put into it and I do wish it to be completely translated as soon as possible I would like to give it a try again sometime in future. <<less

This is honestly more of a parenting novel (very cute) and entertainment-themed (sort of).
I think that part of it was long with some events and the descent of their relationship is not so well developed (something abrupt and hasty, not really too much bl).
Some unnecessary (although entertaining) events, plus sometimes, the MC actions are not so logical.
However, it is a beautiful novel to relax you, not think about it too much. Raising the child is sweet, the MC does his best to raise the ML and learn together.
