The Girls Who Traumatized Me Keep Glancing at Me, but Alas, It’s Too Late (LN)

I, Yukito Kokonoe, have bad luck with women. I’ve always been in trouble, my mother hates me, my sister dislikes me, my childhood friend who I thought I’m in love with rejects me before I confess my feelings to her, and then she tells me a lie while I’m still heartbroken. As a result, I found myself completely emotionally broken, and it was too late to do anything about it, but…

“It’s my fault …… everything is my—-”

“I’m sorry, Yuki! I’m not like that—-”

For some reason, I think the women who traumatized me are glancing at me. ……

This is a love comedy about a boy who has been hurt too much to accept kindness and the women who have hurt him, a love comedy of misunderstandings that doesn’t start at all, starting when it’s too late!

The hell did they do to the original story.
Goodness gracious, no offense to the author and his/her editor but WN is better by a long shot.

Go read the WN.
There you can truly find and grasp the broken reality of the man called Yukito.
He was trampled on, he was emotionally played with, he was almost killed, all by the very people who 'love' him.

The story is the same basically but they changed the core aspect of everything. The MC.
In this LN, he wants to give redemptions to people who wronged him for nothing? He is a pushover, he doesn't have the same gloomy aura to him that he deserves. He feels like a guy who's only been wronged a few times.

But,
In the WN, he's completely utterly in pieces. A good guy for sure, but everything that happened to him makes the reader sympathize with him. You can feel "Oh this guy... will surely kill himself in the future" that the LN does not have in the slightest.

Again, read the WN first. Ready your crying tissues, and a wall to punch to release your anger of other characters.

Jeebus...

This is the rare case where WN is wayyyy better than the LN.

Spoiler

You know what's the selling point of the story? It's the redemption and mending of what's broken, not the damn 'harem' the MC has...

I don't know if it's the editor or someone's fault as it might seem to be too depressing to Japanese audience to be serialized; but this one literally removed the core part of what this novel good, it just became a mediocre harem story with a depressed and quirky MC.

There's no redemption and fixing happened, he's just a cookie cutter MC with cute interactions left and right.

[collapse]

I know that WN is no way perfect in any form; but really, the WN only needs some fixing on the way the girls redeem themselves. This one is just a shell of a novel with the only similar things that are still remaining is their names and the senpai's cuteness. I could even say the disgusting parts are more pronounced now (family relationship being pushed to become more than that), things that are unneeded are being shown and many more.

Quite a different feel for me... Better stay on WN or wait for this one to be better (heck I'll be surprised if this one will get more volume to follow the current WN) <<less

Frankly, very disappointing.

WN's version of MC is super interesting and likable than LN's version. He lost the traits which readers like us love him in the LN's version and he became ' A s*ave '. A typical Beta MC.

So I gave this solid 3 stars even though I gave a solid 5 stars to WN

... more>> Sigh! Give me back gloomy vibe and a good version of MC from WN.

This novel sells gloomy and tragedy. If people don't like it, please don't read this novel. But they are reduced a lot in LN version from my opinion goes.

It just became another disappointing 'rocom ' which is Tragedy sub-plot, which ' Tragedy ' was supposed to be a main selling point of this novel.

But still, it is still better than 70% of Rocom and the author is super talented. It is still a great read nevertheless even though it is a pile of a disappointment compared to the WN version.

It must be ' Editors '. <<less

I strongly agree with the other comments posted above relating to the differences between the WN and the LN. The LN: (i) dilutes and diminishes the impact of all of the most critical scenes; (ii) reduces the MC to a more pathetic, beta male type character; (iii) adds scenes that are completely inconsistent with the MC's supposed breaking and treatment by "Sekka"; (iv) treats the betraying female MCs far more kindly than they deserve or was presented in the WN; and (v) diminishes the importance of the best female characters... more>> (e.g., Goddess-senpai!). I am appalled at what the publishers / editors have done to this story <<less

i will say it they really screwed up yuki and the childhood friend in one chapter. I made the mistake of reading the WN first. Do you know why it was a mistake to read the Web Novel first? Its because the yuki in the WN was actually broken like he claimed.

Spoiler

after the childhood friend broke him, he threw out all the mementos he had of her and she held onto a keychain that was the last thing he gave her before she broke him.
now tell me if you believe that a broken man, who threw out all the stuff related to his childhood friend, would search endlessly for the keychain when the childhood friend lost it on a field trip in the mountains.
does that sound believable? Does that sound like something a broken man with no lingering attachments to his former childhood friend would do? Does that sound like something a stranger would do?

[collapse]

its honestly sad they ruined what was already great. With one chapter the completely destroyed any believability that for me that Yuki was broken.

Ignore the hate ratings.

This is better than the god awful webnovel version because it doesn't kill the MC's hilarious personality to push forward an edgy narrative.

The Webnovel, in no way, portrays a broken person.

... more>> The MC's (in the wn) switch in attitude, is portrayed not in an organic manner, but by the author changing his speech and how he refers to the people around him, calling them by their first names, etc.

It's cringe. It does actual trauma victims a disservice by portraying their situation in such a half-assed manner.

The LN, however, took the correct route by portraying the MC as someone who simply does not care, rather than someone who is broken and incomplete.

Trust me.

Save yourself the cringe and read the LN version instead. <<less

Compare to the WN ver, LN ver doesn't really portray MC as someone that got hurt and betrayed deeply in the past if anything I do agree that LN ver MC is too similar to those type of typical beta MC. Rather than broken character setting like in WN ver, LN ver MC is more like an awkward character and it doesn't insinuate you much vibe that he was really that hurt or betrayed.

One of the changes that is relatively good imo is probably one of the FMC Shiori, you... more>> can actually feet abit of hope coming from her interaction with MC and in term of the thing she done to the MC compare to the rest, I would say she is abit lighter in this case but doesn't really pull her off from the thing that she did. While the other FMC aka childhood friend isn't that much different compare to WN ver if anything probably abit more dislikable.

One of the changes that is bad or might make you hate another person is probably because of this
Spoiler

FMC Childhood friend's Mom actually blame the MC for what is happening is her home like how her daughter aka the childhoodfriend is sad all the time or how the sister end up fighting cause of Hinagi betraying MC. Instead of telling off Hinagi (FMC) for what she have done to MC (as it was implied that the mother knew what she did), her mother blamed MC for everything. One part for instance was MC forced to go to Hinagi house due to teacher since Hinagi was sick when MC mention this to the Mum, she was pissed that it isn't because MC wanted to come see her daughter due to his own concern etc and in her inner monologue, she admit it's her own daughter fault why they got so far away from each other yet still want MC to come find her daughter, protect her daughter and make her happy despite what her daughter did to MC.

[collapse]

If WN make you slightly want to avoid FMC (Childhood friend) + MC get together, this part of changes will make you even hate it more on them getting together.

For people that prefer reading a real broken character setting and much darker story, I would say goes for WN ver while for people that prefer the typical beta MC (which usually isn't really that much of a broken character but awkward character), you should read LN as it alot less darker and abit more fluff imo. If anything LN actually allow you to visualize abit more of a happy vibe compare to WN which visualize quite alot of darker vibe. <<less

how I wish there was a dislike button for all the shitty review giving it a 5* after comparing it to the wn lmfao, if there was no wn to based it on, its a solid 3* but compare to wn, this is just a dif story all together, MC is totally dif after the first few ch of the ln, u clearly see the ln is far more tame and is targeting the h**ny teens who just click here for in*est and harem. tho dont get me wrong I... more>> am one of those h**ny teens but f*ck the WN is just so much better. this ln is just a sin except for the illustrations it gives.. thats the only + point I can give honestly...

if the name for the characters in the ln were changed, you wont even be able to tell that they are are dif adaptaion of the same plot... man this is just so sad...

this mostlikely happened coz jp population wont be able to deal with sh*t that is too dark for the avg h**ny ppl... and ln does make more money to the author then wn does... so ig that make sense why he would ruin his own creation to target a bigger audience... but this is just such a sad adaptation, the magic of wn story is gone for just an avg harem story.... <<less

So if you think the guy who never meets a girl is unlucky, meet the MC who has no issue meeting girls but inadvertently gets screwed over in some way. One the upside the one who does it almost immediatley regrets there actions but... MC is cursed.

So in comparison to the the WN which I have read all currently translated chapters. It is different, slightly. Added a whole new story arc too.

MC is in fact broken, he can't help see it as his fault everyone is sad. He also can... more>> barely comprehend when people are saying he is actually liked.

He's not forgiving anyone, he just can't bring himself to particularly care one way or another. Other people set a tone he goes with it until demonstrated otherwise.

In terms of which is better the WN does seem to have a more unhinged MC if that's what you are going for.

But the story here is much more coherent.

But both are good. <<less

The quality of the writing is good, the plot makes sense, and you can understand the misunderstandings. As odd as that sounds. Basically, a pretty talented writer, judging by the book so far. The only problem is it's been nothing but depression to near the level of a Greek tragedy. If you've seen Bridge to Terabithia and you stopped right after the funeral scene, then this book is perfect as is. Myself, I'll have to come back later when the author has fleshed out the story more and hopefully, added... more>> a little hope. <<less

Too bad the author dropped the WN. Seriously this is still a very decent reading, but the WN is way better in every aspect. The LN seems to go more with the fluff, sweet moments and the harem instead of the trauma, the broken MC, the redemption of the heroines and Yukito trying to change himself so that he can love once more, so that he can instead of receiving happiness from his womans, he can give them happiness.
