it's crazy when you're over a hundred chapter in, and it's only 2.8% of the novel. I'm enjoying it so far. I started with a translation, but it wasn't much better than MTL and it had several chapters out of order, so I just switched to MTL. It's still readable.

So, if you like a very competent FMC, a generic "ancient" setting, a magical space that can pull off deus ex machina with whatever items she happened to bring back from modern times, and a decent ML, give it a try.

This is one of those transmigration FLs with a space and need to survive famine in the beginning. FL is clever, resourceful, and can be ruthless due to her last life's experience as an orphan and a survivor in the apocalypse.

There is a clear ML forming in the 2xx chapters, but this novel is 3xxx chapters so I'm going to wait until later to determine if he is truly the end game ML. This ML is quite adorable and very smart. He is employing the "boil frogs in warm water"... more>> strategy to woo the FL. He's the golden retriever partner type, and very obedient to FL and gets ordered around left and right by her. Very early on, perhaps their first few times of meeting each other, ML seemed determined to chase FL and send her all his savings for keeping. She won him over with a plate of fried rice. The chapters are quite short so don't be daunted by the numbers of chapters. I probably read to c. 228 in an afternoon sitting.

1st arc - fleeing/surviving famine

2nd arc - settlement in new town & doing business

3rd arc - going off to find their dad and trying to see if their mom can be cured. ~C. 240 <<less

I like it so much. Yes the chapter quantity looks quite daunting, it's actually not that scary. Each chapter feels like a half of normal chapter, or in some cases a quarter of it. It's quite short. Still, it took me 4 days to finished thus so here's my review

Main Character

Yundong, is the embodiment of every quality that I wish to see more in this genre. She's smart (not einstein smart but she's quick-witted, or perhaps street smart?) anyway she can traverse many conflict with her wits alone. She's kind... more>> but mind you she's exceptionally ruthless to her enemies (yes, she actually killed people), srsly she's a total badass. She needs help from time to time but mostly, if 3 or 4 people try to confront her? She can handle it, that's how strong she is. Overall I just love her personality. Someone who's powerful but not choosing fame and influence. She just want to make her family happy and become a successful businesswoman. I genuinely never got bored whenever her 'face slapping' mini arc come out. She's just that fun to read.

The 'Space' cheat

The space golden finger doesn't really take away too much from the story actually. It's not like everything is there, still you got to admit that some things are just way to absurd to end up there. Kinda too convenient that everything Yundong need can pop out from the space.

Romance

I won't talk about much but I guess romance is not main theme in this story. While I do admit the courting between Yundong and her future husband is cute, there's no moment of them that makes my heart beat uncontrollably. She and her husband are the perfect match, there's nothing else to say.

Plot

Quite solid. Sometimes the story felt like taking detour from reaching the mark but they always got on track after bunch of mini arcs. I got to complain abt the side story though. I want to see Liu Wei, Duan Wan, Madam Dai and more... They didn't show up in the extra

Side Chara

Got no complain. I actually like the majority of them. Yunshu and Yuanzhi shenanigans, Keke, Liu Wei, Prince Zhilan, Shuitao, The Emperor, really most of them grow on me. It's painful saying goodbye to this series bcs I can't read abt them anymore

Overall : While I do think the plot can be made more compact, I still think that this is the best story in it's genre that I ever read. Transmigration stories never felt this good. It's cliché but like, good cliché. I like it, def recommending it to other ppl to read it too <<less
