An ABO novel

An unplanned pregnancy leads to a disastrous childhood for Yoon Hajin. Born into an abusive home only to be delivered to a Hell-ish life, Yoon Hajin looks to buy his freedom by marrying out of the family using the only asset anyone values, his trait.

“Remember, Sweetheart. For an Omega, there can never be any such thing as love”

The male Dominant Omega’s refuge from the Hell that is his life is a Contracted Marriage to a Dominant Alpha who is already in love with a female Beta.

“Take them off.”

“…….”

“Do you really want me to take it off for you? We don’t have that kind of relationship.”

This was an arranged marriage. The Omega knew this was not a relationship in which he could beg for affection.

It was doomed!

I am the translator for this title and I have only read the first chapter.

I should warn anyone thinking of reading this that the tags are very valid, and should be taken seriously. There are descriptions of several incidences of s*xual assault just in the first chapter, one in particular is graphic. However, it's nothing out of the ordinary for this genre.

I am translating it as I go. So far what I know, and think, about this story is this:

(The summary below contains potential spoilers.)

Spoiler

This is an ABO, and the protagonist is a Dominant Omega born to a recessive Omega mother and could be the child of any number of potential fathers. He was abused as a child until his trait was discovered and he was sold off to a potential father. After some years of new abuse by his adoptive Beta brother, Hajin made a decision to escape by marrying out of the house, but escape would not be so easy for such a valuable rare Omega.

As I said at the end of the first release, I don't enjoy this type of novel. Don't get me wrong, I love an ABO, but I love strong/clever Omegas (I'm still not sure what kind of Omega Hajin will turn out to be). With that said, I'm not against angst, nor judgmental of people who like these stories, that's what fiction is for, the exploration of ideas. I'm just not into reading about victimization. With that said if enough people are interested I'll finish Volume 1 as a side project.

Anyway, you've been warned. As for whether the story is any good, I don't know so far, one chapter isn't enough to make a fair assessment. I received c1 for free, but I have enough coins for volume 1's chapters.

I've only read one chapter but this novel feels like a great example of a dog blood ABO novel. It's got all the right tropes; the poor illegitimate omega, the rich as*hole alpha, the abusive greedy omega family, the green tea bit*h (she's only mentioned in passing but you know more is coming), and even the cunning scheming alpha family.

It's just perfect. It starts out a little rough, the omega has been through some shit, but you can already tell there's going to be some great wife chasing later.

Wow, it was wild. I finished main story, but novel has 6 part side story as well. I kind of understand why FT dropped it during 2nd episode.

The main story consists of two volumes of standard size. (235k chapters in total). With that being said, the story doesn't feel like it's being dragged for too long, things happen and progress and some parts obviously felt like progression was too fast. FYI: There is a lot of angst.

MC is traumatized, suffered from constant unfairness prior to main story and during it.... more>> It's novel about coercion, constant pushing MC into something he doesn't want to do. But he still has some will to fight. And one of many things he did to try escape his cruel family situation on his own was that marriage he agreed to, but even that didn't go as planned.

Spoiler

MC is constantly remained of his low value and how he is almost not a human being for being omega; that leads to many misunderstanding his own and with ML, because everyone around of him was treating him like an animal.

[collapse]

I have to admit ML isn't complete tr*sh (obviously he is to some extent), but his own attitude also played big part in how story progressed and how it affected MC. Best part about ML was that his POV was constant through the story, which provided explanation to constant misunderstanding but also gave some depth to the story. Regarding sensitive topics

Spoiler

There are quite an amount of abuse from MC family (except his adoptive mom, at least one decent person in that household), Dad's business partner, some mind games from ML's ex. There are scenes/mentions involving sensitive topics: child abuse, r*pe, coercion, blackmail, attempted su*cide, miscarriage, depression. If you are not in the right state of mind, better not to read it, even though some of certain scenes aren't that graphic.

[collapse]

I wish main story was a little bit longer, it would provide some space for some of events of the story progress properly and not rushed. All in all 4/5 novel. Despite being a bit heavy it brought a sense of satisfaction at the end, that's not something any angsty novel can pull out these days as it felt that logical conclusion after everything MC had been through, was reached. But this story certainly is not for everyone to read.

Maybe after finishing side story I would add a bit more to this review. <<less
