Hi, there!

I'll rate this novel a 4.7 🧁

Let's talk about the characters:

... more>> Sijin is an examiner who volunteered to work at a center where his savior (Ham G.) was working as an esper. He met Ham's guide, Taeyul. Who was harsh with him after the initial welcoming tour.

The first volumen is about their daily life at the center, where he can see Sijin revolving around Ham G. because he wanted to 'repay' the favor.

Ham G has a playful personality, he's an easygoing guy who's not serious about anything but work. He pays special attention to him and that makes guide Taeyul feel 'neglected' for no apparent reason.

Taeyul: responsible, reliable and devoted to MC. Green like the Amazonas. He gets jealous but that's just so damn cute 🥺 I like this ML very much. He just loves MC so so much. I don't have words to describe it 😍🥺

He never forgot about MC, he never touch any other person before MC to protect his waves in his heart. I liked how clumsy he was at the beginning and how he got annoyed at all of the MC's first he couldn't have because of the incident.

Now, be patient with this first volumen, and half of the second one. Why? Because what now seem meaningless will become meaningful after.

About the romance:

It seems that Sijin will develop romantic feelings for the esper, but then he gets sway and starts to feel intrigued and attracted towards the guide, that started out of sympathy and develops to romantic feelings after some events at the end of V2 and throughout V3. It's not a love triangle because Sijin only treats the esper as a younger brother. Then we'll see the past events that were hidden and learn why the guide behaved the way he did. Their romance advanced at a expected pace from then on. The esper had developed some feelings for Sijin but he realized it late and it was kind of childish. So he let it go after a few chapters when he learnt about his friend and Sijin's past together.

Why only 4.7? Although it was a new guideverse dynamic (at least for me) there are some things that the novel didn't give closure to:

They save Sijin from the kidnappers but what about the government that was behind the esper who did it? I mean, they did a lot to kidnap him and then just let it go?

Taeyul said he'll always protect him, but... that's it? I'm not used to this type of solution that leaves the root cause just standing there.

And because of one thing that frustrated me (and this is totally personal) :

the whole chapters that we only read about Ham G., Ham G., and Ham G. I think I know who the author's favorite character was 😵‍💫 and the way the novel leads you to think that they develop feelings for each other but the esper didn't do anything but still got mad at the guide for touching what was 'his'. ???

Then I understood what the author wanted to showcase with those chapters but that understanding came starting Volume 4 😂 lol. Guess I needed a little more of patience🤣

I really really enjoyed this novel. This daily life type of guideverse felt refreshing 😍😍😍 I couldn't stop reading it 😍

There is little action, because they are 95% of the time at the center. So if you are expecting something like Solo leveling guideverse version (?) or action like hunterverse novels, this isn't it. The monsters are from the sea but they only appear sporadically.

So the plot is all about romance 💐 💋

💯 What did I like the most about this novel besides the romance? The dynamic of espers and guides.

I mean, a guide that needs to guide so as to not to go rampage? That was my first time reading something like that. Guides needed to guide, if they go 'rampage' they'll loose all their feelings and they'll be like a doll. If they are imprinted they can guide other esperes but it feels awful. And I like that they measure their corruption levels. So cool. And how they can train to move from B class to A class, or from A to S.

I would so marry the author.

Read the manhwa (currently waiting for s2) n after finding out there is a novel immediately came to read this and no regrets. Literally the best guideverse I've read ever and may be one of my top reads ever

Author does an exceptional job at creating character profiles. Taeyul has a well written complex character that you will appreciate as you read it more. Very happy with the dynamic between HGW and Taeyul. Hard to define but there is a clear line that shows that they... more>> are each other's most trusted ally and friend. Excellent job with Sijin. Stands on business, has a back bone, kind and considerate-textbook MC that we all love

Backstories are also perfect. The tension between Taeyul and Sijin is insane. The love and yearning between them is written insanely well. The gut wrenching angst during the later chapters brought me to tears. Also liked hoe the romance prgressed. Very natural and not rushed or too slow. Pacing was great and the thought process for Sijin was very relatable. Loved the chapters where we got the POVs for Taeyul. Really helps to emphasise the suffering and pain they each had to respectively deal with

Honestly in the midst of reading the eariler few chaps, was rooting for a 3p ending but as I progressed, HGW just couldn't fit in with Taeyul and Sijin but loved that the author didn't ruin HOW'S personality and character and instead was dedicated on making him the comic relief character (love him)

The part where sijin got kidnapped and his experience being trapped in that basement was incredibly well written. Made it feel like I was there with him. The trauma, his emotional instability was transferred to me. Yet he stayed strong for Gyuho (when he called him yoosueng a part of me died) and wanted to protect him (how can u not love sijin)

10000/10 would def re read I'm super excited foe the manhwa and hope it does the novel justice <<less

This is maybe the best guideverse I've read, which is kind of funny since MC is neither a guide nor an esper (but it does have the smutty aspect of quasi "guiding" between them.) I would 100% recommend if you want guideverse without all the dub/noncon. Taeyul is like the greenest flag ever and the s*xual tension is so well done. The author maybe went a bit too hard on inserting Geonwoo and playing up a love triangle, since so many readers were hoping for 3p.

But with the backstory of the plot there was never going to be any other end game, so it's a bit weird looking back. Considering the completely different depths of their feelings I can't exactly take Geonwoo seriously. But he did provide some welcome comic relief.

Anyway, this was so satisfying, I will no doubt reread at some point in the future.
