Surviving as a Mid-Boss Henchman

After reluctantly indulging in a romance simulation game at my sister’s insistence, I woke up to find myself transformed into the henchman role of the villainess Luciana Speda, the northern duchess, the Prince’s fiancée, and the unexpected mid-boss within the game’s narrative. I am now inexorably intertwined with her in the bonds of fate.

There is a system that forces our MC down a path. If the FL dies he dies. Also there is an academy arc in the works and I am now sure our MC is about to go full fix it on the story.

Honestly, I'm done with this story.

Its too generic, the MC is bound to be a white knight wannabe simp, cheat items are already appearing out of nowhere and a master thief class just happens to fall into his lap due to plot. Like dude how much BS must... more>> occur before enough power ups is considered enough? We both know that all these abilities are just pointless since the world's power scaling will make everything he has done so far moot.

So in other words, I'd love to start the actual story instead of reading how cool our MC is by abusing his game knowledge for items, and avoid the times his knowledge becomes faulty for some needless drama.

For example we have the FL being some hidden knight. An OP teenager who some how died to bandits in the canon story.... a start to a bad trend of faulty world building.

So, either the MC knows everything, or he knows nothing. This inbetween isn't something I enjoy at all since the presentation is all over the place. Add on the plot being forced down our throats, and you get this mess.

Pretty interesting start. It's the same old recipe of Villainous noble girl and Transmigrated servant, but there seems to be action elements and rpg elements mixed in. I am excited to see where it goes.

Plot progression is fast but doesn't feel choppy. Character and world building are good too.

Quite a fun story. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

What is, however, really bad about the story is the translation. This next part is for the translators. Sometimes I have no idea who is talking and sometimes a sentence that is meant to be said by one character or to another will have the pronouns switched or the opposite character will be the one to "say" the sentence when it is clearly meant to be said by someone else. For example, some chapters are first person and then suddenly in third... more>> person and then again in first person. Additionally, usually you will have a line-break/new paragraph in conversations that usually means the characters are alternating speaking, but sometimes there is a line-break/new paragraph when I am pretty sure the same character is still speaking their part of the dialogue. I have been so incredibly close to dropping this novel because of that alone because I hate having to stop mid-sentence to figure out what the heck is going on.

Luckily this type of story is my favorite niche. I will continue to read for now. <<less

This novel surely itch that scratch for me.

It has a cliche recipe, transmigated servant and villainous master, but one thing I like about this one, not actually so much about the MC, but that villainous lady. No she is not that "bad but actually kind in reality" nor the "ab*sed villainess with tragic family relationship etc" but what was portrayed in the game, was actually her real personality. One thing that changed though, is that she is actually able to use this trait into her strength, slowly she became more... more>> open minded whilst maintaining that same mentality.

from going like "only northerners are worthy to be by my side, as outsiders are untrustworthy" to being like "i hate this closemindedness of the north because of this, we will never grow"🤣🤣 and Hans giving her the side eye as she blushed and turned away as she realized is hilarious, " I was a closeminded in the past" "But it's the past! " Lolol

For sure this novel is good but some parts of this novel doesn't quite add up to it. This novel MC causes problems big enough to eradicate his family but somehow it will turned out alright like they will praise him for the problem he done if it was a one time thing I would have not minded but everytime he does the same thing loses its charm. Another thing is that the action sequence were written quite poorly like it doesn't feel like a fight at all which is... more>> an another drawback and also the MC is quite edgy if I have to say like any other novels so it was hard for me to rate this novel good but this is my opinion. If you want to read a novel with hidden background and edgy MC this is for you <<less

... more>> The idea is good, nothing out of the world, but personally I find the concept of phantom thief/butler quite cool, and seeing him slowly growing and outsmarting his enemies is quite interesting, tbh im waiting the moment when the female lead discovers the truth, for its quite a nice idea, as instead of laying low ad a thief, he is slowly but certainly increasing his fame, to the point that it feels that he is creating his own final mission wiht the amount of enemies/friends that are at his side.

Not much in the area of magic, but enough to understand. Read it if you want a fresh dynamic, its quite a fast read <<less

Very bad start. It is in fact so terrible, it's borderline ret*rded.

However, bad moments are only 20% of the content here, the rest is perfectly fine story of this popular genre.

The good and bad parts are very much separated, displaying author's disregard towards certain aspects of the story and clear focus on another.

I continued reading because the core of everything was still solid, and I'm a fan of the premise; thankfully in about 50 to 70 chapters the lazily written parts which made me feel dumber just from reading them... more>> gradually disappeared and story became almost perfectly consistent.

Even more - the direction man character is decided to develop himself in took a few unexpected turns, giving everything an interesting flavor with great potential for more exciting twists in the future.

Even so, the suspension of disbelief required for enjoying the plot is still a bit too high, and getting through the early parts might feel like torture, so I'm doubtful you should try this novel if you have any standards and value your time. <<less
