In a world where defeating monsters within the labyrinth granted an enigmatic power and knowledge called “Mana” (true name), Dennis, a nobleman’s son, was born into a poverty-stricken life that was far from noble.

Being the second son and ineligible to inherit the territory, Dennis embarks on a journey into the labyrinth, seeking to acquire the “Mana” ability and ensure his survival.

Simultaneously, in Japan, a man named Masaya discovers a profound connection to Dennis’s consciousness through his dreams. When Dennis acquired a “Mana” ability, Masaya was astonished to discover that he could also wield the incredible power of this “Mana”.

Not only Masaya, but people all around the world started awakening to their ability to use the “Mana”, sparking the curiosity of nations worldwide.

Dennis, in the other world, undertakes the task of managing his territory, skillfully incorporating the knowledge of Earth’s scientific advancements imparted by Masaya. Meanwhile, Masaya himself flourishes as an entrepreneur, fully using the incredible power of the “Mana”(true name).

This is a tale of their extraordinary accomplishments in their respective worlds as they ascend to unparalleled heights.

this one was quite a suprise - it is really original and unique.

I'm giving it 4 stars, not 5, only because from chapter 40 time skips start to appear and novel moves to more "slow life in another world" format, and real world politicians and military is quite poorly written and behaves in unrealistic way.

I think it's an okay novel. Not particularly bad, nor particularly good.

The premise seemed quite interesting at the start. Two people from different worlds sharing their memories and magical abilities, helping each other and advancing in their respective worlds.

Quite quickly though, it becomes clear that it's just another wish-fulfilment novel that comes with the classic issues plaguing the majority of Japanese novels.

Pros:

    • Unique setting of 2 protagonists sharing memories and magical abilities
    • So far (c50) it avoids typical cliches that come with JP fantasy: lolis, demon kings, s*upidly incompetent human kings, super corrupt church, harems.
    • The translation is good.
Cons:

    • Suffers from the typical MC is the best/ Japan is the best syndrome:
        • Japanese swordsmanship? Of course it beats the fantasy swordsmanship, both in duels and against monsters.
        • Making fluffy bread by simply removing grain husks from the flour? Obviously a genius idea that no one ever thought of before in the fantasy world.
        • Super strong soldiers developed by having them train in the labyrinth and obtain skills? Simply marvelous idea. The other nobles with much, much more resources only have a few skilled soldiers.
        • MC seems to be the only one making a significant impact in the modern world, despite there being other people who are connected to the fantasy world and possess magic skills.
    • As someone else mentioned, the way the politics are written is quite bad and unrealistic. For example, MC and his company make a magical invention and patent it, cut to the Chinese president talking with his secretary, saying things along the lines of "He has a patent for 20 years, damn we can't do anything about it". Seriously? China of all countries just backs down because of a patent?
    • Time skips become more and more frequent as the novel progresses, and become a bit inconsistent. Sometimes days/weeks are spent in one protagonist's perspective, with very little change happening in the other world when perspective changes.
The cons might seem bad and outweigh the pros, but since they're so common in JP novels, once you get used to them, you kind of just end up ignoring them. Though I still end up b*tching about them when I get the chance.

All in all, it's not a bad novel to waste some time with, if you just take it for what it is, without thinking too deeply about the flaws.

I rarely read Japanese novels, but I gave this one a try and it really surprised me.

This novel doesn't have those usual characters from Japanese novels like lolis, elves, tsunderes and they look more natural people.

Give this one a try
