So I actually read 'Stars Run To Him' before reading this. It is set in the same universe. I would recommend you to read it as it is a great story and also continues Su Li and Liang Xie's story where this one leaves in the extras. (Basically showing Su Li's family's side)

I didn't read the synopsis that closely and was surprised that this was the story of Gu Nuan and Han Yang. I loved it. Their story is Childhood friends to lovers and mutual affection.

It's mostly a sweet... more>> fluffy story, about recovery from trauma and accepting oneself.

The Main Couple

The ML story is so sad. His entire backstory makes me cry so much. He doesn't think of himself as worthy of MC as he thinks the MC would never have had to go through the really bad experience that MC went through. He deserves all the love the MC gives him.

The MC is just a ball of sunshine and because of what he had to go through in middle school, he deserves to be coddled by his family and boyfriend.

Also, the MC calling the ML 'brother' all the time just felt icky to me. Like I know they are not blood-related brothers and Brother is just a term of endearment but I read the extra [the hot one] and in that also he calls him brother. It's like Hua Cheng calling Xie Lian bro. I am sorry but I wished the translator would have just left it Gege or something. It was fine before they confirmed their relationship but not after. The Side couples

Su Li X Liang Xie

I had already read SRTH so I had already kinda seen their development. That development is just in more detail in this novel.

What attracts me about this side couple is the fact Su Li lacked something that almost all danmei shous seem to have 'an attractive face'. Su Li to me felt like that one average-looking girl whose always the best friend of the really pretty heroine of a movie. He was Gu Nuan's best friend since childhood and is a genuinely great friend. But he as an omega he isn't earth-shatteringly attractive but actually has an average and not really sweet smelling pheromones. He wasn't rich either at least compared to the people he hung out with. So he had to be the one who always had to initiate and act on his feelings when it came to romance and wanting a boyfriend. I really liked that part about him.

Even after started dating Liang Xie, he always thought if it weren't for Liang Xie's legs, Liang Xie would have never dated someone so ordinary as him.

This sort of feeling with actual basis is something which is not usually shown especially in popular danmei. That's why I wanted more on this couple.

He Yunchu X Yu Yi

A beta top X alpha bottom dynamic!!!! OMG, I can't believe I had never thought of this dynamic before. I wish they would have their own spinoff cause they were barely there in the first half and just disappeared in the second half. The author can't just write this dynamic and not give them their own full-length novel. Also, I want a story about Gu Nuan's parents. Like I really dig their dynamic and it was pretty obvious that they also have a story to tell.

I am a little sad that there was no mention at all of Gu Zhongyi and Lin Yuxing at all. Gu Zhongyi is literally Gu Nuan's COUSIN and Lin Yuxing is Su Yi's roommate. There were so many scenes in which all the couples interacted in 'Stars Run To Him'. The author probably never thought that they would be writing another story in the same universe. <<less

Honestly I got pissed off by the parents of the MC. If you’re gonna meddle then see it through. You interfered in the ml’s life and caused him to get targetted worse by his stepdad and bio dad. How can you give an abused child false hope like this? Was your bio son’s (MC) minor food poisoning more impt than the mls domestic abuse? And it took you months to get back to this matter. Honestly I hate them. And the MC is so ignorant too, I know the author is going for the dumb sweet characterisation, but the ML is an abused kid, he doesn’t need an insipid rich kid who doesn’t know his own privilege.

I found this story very enjoyable and very easy to read.

It has elements of sad trauma to extreme fluff. By the end you are kicking your feet in the air with all the love in the story. The read itself went by fast even with over 100 chapters.

The side couple is so so cute and the main couple is pure gold!

The novel was soooooo sweet😍 but it started with angst. The ML deserves all the love that MC offered to him. He had a very painful and difficult childhood. The MC and his family was the ML salvation and light. They saved him.. Literally. Worth reading. Highly recommended.

I'll just say first: I like the side couple more. There. I said it. The main couple was sweet but there were sooo many frustrations about them that I just kind of went on for the side couple (who had their own troubles but way less, of course, since they had less screen time).

I thought the story would be more about HY being a superstar and GN being a CEO but it's primarily set during GN's university years. Their story cannot be talked about without delving into the frustrations.... more>> It's a sweet relationship but this story had one of the worse backstory (in terms of tragedy, not in terms of writing) I have read in a while. It was a rollercoaster! Major spoilers ahead.

HY's past:

I thought it was going to be a very generic bad past but his was generic bad past dialed up 100x. He was the result of a r*pe and that definitely left a very big psychological scar on his mum and eventually, him. Because no one wanted him. Not the grandparents and not his parents. He was physically and mentally abused by basically every adult in his life (except that one granny in the building and GN's parents). And before things could get better, his biological dad drags him back (the usual this kid is going to take care of me when I am old thing in this culture) to just abuse him more. The book acknowledges how mentally scarred he is that I sincerely wonder if he ever sought help for that? And I just knew that the father was going to be a looming figure in the back until he gets out of the picture permanently by exiting earth. Which only happens way later. Lastly, the village chief told HY to forgive his father when he was old and the fact that they were related. That was ridiculous. That man was practically a monster that deserved no sympathy and I'm glad that HY chose not to return to pay any respect at the end.

The relationship (rant ahead for some negative points) :

I know it's almost a trope but GN felt just a tad too coddled for me at times. The way he was sheltered by everyone in his life. He did undergo a very traumatic event in his life (NO THANKS to HY's father that I just knew was a time bomb ticking over at the side) but it didn't feel like he genuinely understood the depth of HY's agony and past at times. I mean, he does go on and on about promising to be by HY forever but I just felt like there was something missing. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, the one thing I did not like about their relationship timeline was when GN confessed for the first time and HY just said sorry. With no explanation. I mean, I understood that he had issues (the father, it's the father) to settle first but he could have said something clearer? Because that's a rejection? If I were GN, I would totally take that as a rejection and a sign to move on. Like did HY assume GN should wait for him to settle his issues when he didn't even tell him to give him time or something? Then he later gets jealous when he sees GN smiling at another alpha =.= Like he had no right.

But minus all that, it's the usual cute couple where they dote on each other.

As for the side couple, I just kind of like SL? He seemed a little childish but almost in a funny way.

Like how he antagonises HY by being close to GN when they were in the 1st grade, irrevocably causing them to have a bad relationship. He's cheeky. He knows he's plain in comparison to others but is daring and goes out of his way to pursue what he wants. I thought his relationship with LX was cute. The extras had more on their relationship that I enjoyed. As usual, there's still drama on LX family side with a terrible maternal family but that tumour was cleanly cut off at the end.

Overall, I probably rated the book more for the cute aspects of the relationship and the side couple. But beware, the book has hidden knifes. <<less

It was a beautiful story, the characters were well fleshed and each one had distinct personality. I love the cute attitude of Gunuang and the doting and caring attitude of Hanyang. His backstory made me sob so much. The second couple and the parent were also really good I would love to read more of them.

Ps the first 50 chapter are full of drame so be prepared.

Super cuteand fluffy. Other than a few parts about their past being a little sad and angsty, the rest were veryyy sweet. Especially our MC (O) Gu Nuan. Hes like a small ball of sunshine. So warm and bright.

I like the ML (A) Han Yang too though. He feels like a big tree that will always be there to protect you from the harsh things in life. He really loves Gu Nuan too much. 🥹

The ML was saved by the MC and his family from his nightmare childhood, he's gone through so much its truly heartbreaking. With all the trauma he's been through, it is no wonder that he has fears that he can't simply let go. The MC is soo adorable in every way from the beginning to the end, he is the ML's everything. The love they have for each other is so so sweet. Recommended read.

This reads very... weird for me. The writing style of the translator reads less like a translation, and more like fanfic. It's not as horrible as actually bad translations or MTL, but it was a tad bit distracting. Kept getting thrown off (think dubbed anime with random untranslated words thrown in, in a very western accent lol, vs subbed anime). Like, maybe I've been spoiled by good translations that usually retain the essence of the actual text, because I honestly kept nitpicking which I hate doing. I could not get... more>> into the story.

A lot of info dumping and telling-not-showing. Gave it 10 chapters before dropping. Maybe I'll come back when I'm in a better mindset for it. I usually love ABO, but this was kind of a turn off. <<less

The novel initially had potential but as the story progresses, it became intolerable. For someone who was given a once in a lifetime chance to get out of his unfortunate circumstances, the ML did not have any plans at all. He studied abroad for 4 years only to end up wanting to be an actor. I thought he studied acting while overseas but no, he wasted his time just to get away from the MC.

Now with the MC, while his actions while young were endearing, such spoilt and childish behaviour... more>> becomes revolting when a fully grown person does it. He does not know how to give space to someone, loves to act coquettish to get his way, loves being an unresonable person, self centered, and his life revolves around the push over and utterly useless ML. Two peas in a pond. <<less

It's a sweet love story sprinkled with a bit of angst here and there (a heart wrenching one though). But the angst part does not cover the entire 50 chapters. I was ready to endure through it all thinking it was but it's actually short. It comes out once in a while (mainly in those 50 chaps but not all) but overall it's a story of love and healing.

I didn't expect to love the side couples ngl! I usually skip them but they are surprisingly very well written. The flashback... more>> scenes too, I usually read them for the sake of understanding the characters deeper but I was really invested! <<less

4.1 is well deserved, ML MC and all side character.. I love it.. Although it had back and forth flow it nor that long to make u forgot the present, the emotion is quite abusive in their childhood part and slightly bittersweetin their 20, passionate and warm in their 26+, I would categories it as a quick read, everything resolve in good way, but I still a bit curious about the side cps we need more..

This is false advertis**ent because I was clearly unprepared for the onslaught of torture the first 50 chapters gave me. Like wtf did I sign myself up for? I get the tag said past trauma, but I didn’t expect said trauma to be half of the freaking novel. I was thinking more along the lines of meaningful flashbacks. I don’t mind the story, but I think it would’ve been much better pacing if it was longer. MC & ML falling in love & getting over their traumas would be such... more>> a better read if fully fleshed out.
