Vlad, a destitute youngster from the slums, held an unwavering admiration for knights. Following an encounter with a bolt of black lightning, he started hearing a mysterious voice. One fateful day, a knight cloaked in the shimmering glow of the blue moonlight appeared, completely upending Vlad’s existence in the back alleys. This extraordinary event proved that even a faint star concealed among the darkest corners of the nocturnal firmament can still radiate its brilliance, should it yearn to shine.

Finished reading the novel.

It's a masterpiece. It's not the generic story like reincarnation, regression, isekai, transmigration that's a win for me. And just like the keyword is a multipov. All the characters are three dimensional even the villain. The author's writing skills are excellent man. It's poetic like you're reading a poem here. Almost like an old literary story but packaged more lightly and beautifully. The story is not light but not too heavy either. The drama, the fight, the comedy, the angsty all well packaged👌 I'm rereading it now... more>> after the manhwa release and I still got the impression I got when I first read it & notice the details more that I'm missing before. This is a very honest and good novel and the translator (s?) did a pretty great job.

The novel describes the saga of a boy who starts off on one of the bottom most rungs of society and rises up in strength and authority with a lot of effort and a somewhat lucky encounter.

You might say that's cliche and unoriginal and honestly, I can't disagree. It's like eating an amazing cheese burger - nothing too fancy or unoriginal but hooks you in with its generous filling and harmonious blend of... more>> flavor and texture.

The chapters are very very wholesome, as is the story. Each chapter ends with a satisfying conclusion which is such a stark contrast to today's cliffhanger bait novels. It's also not isekai/reincarnation trope so props for that.

Compelling characters, engaging plot, wholesome chapters and an honest writing makes this novel worthy of recommendation. 9.5/10 <<less

Filler review until there are more chapters, not leaving a rating for now.

These first 10 chapters are like a prologue. A boy from the slums works for a gang, but conflict leads to him needing to escape the city for his life. He is going to take the path of the sword and is probably going to get super powerful and get revenge.

So far so good. It's way more serious and is different stylistically compared to other East Asian webnovels. NOT a reincarnation/transmigration story, at least not so far. Still... more>> establishing the story, it hasn't gotten into the meat of the plot yet, but it's promising. Preliminary 4/5. <<less

So far the novel is good. I read this after read the manhwa. It's good that there's no different, easy to understand and look interesting. I was never interested in novel with Sword master or that kind of Fantasy genre. B'cuz I can't imagine the Sword fight scene, so I prefer the manhwa. But this one is good. It means, the novel describe the event very well even a dumbass like me can understand a Little.

GRADE:

9/10 (Good novel, a ol' knight novel)

TLTR:

Its a nice story, zero to hero, a nive protagonist, and a interesting setting, you can say its simple, but sometimes, simple things are the best, personally I like the magic/spirit system, and the only downside is the obvious plotpoints, you can already see some plotwist from miles away, but nevertheless, such a nice reading, and personally I will be waiting for the rest of the chapters.

Read it if you are fan of knight stories, stories of heroes and growth.
