Shrank to a 3-Years-Old Child

Gu Qingqing was born into a wealthy family, married into a wealthy family, and gave birth to a wealthy heir.

Her husband is respectful, her son is filial, and her brother is prosperous. Her life is a model of a top-class lady, and her life is boundless.

This is Gu Qingqing in the eyes of outsiders.

In fact, Gu Qingqing actually felt that her life was a failure, the relationship between husband and wife was cold, the relationship between mother and child is stiff, and the siblings always quarreled at first sight, and her life was not going very well.

The day before yesterday, she threw a check to her second son’s girlfriend. When she woke up the next day, she shrank into a three-year-old milky child.

Her husband, sons, and brother who heard the news rushed home, and they surrounded the pink dumpling on the sofa hugging the stuffed bear and were silent.

Gu Qingqing blinked her big watery eyes and said with a milky voice: “Uncle, who are you?”

President No. 1: “I am your husband.”

President No. 2: “I am your eldest son.”

President No. 3 :”I am your second son.”

President No.4: “I am your brother.”

“You are a liar! Mom and Dad have promised Qingqing to not have a second child!”

Should this be the focus of attention?

The point is my wife/mum/sister has become a three-years-old child!

Plot wise, it's ok for now. I must don't know how I feel about MC being a baby for most of the novel.

But be warned, the translator site will give your computer HIV/AIDs. My computer was attacked each time I cl**ked on a new chapter, and while I don't condone novel aggregate sites, if this was on one of those sites then I would gladly read on those sites. I'm all for supporting the translator, but when the site looks shady af, I keep getting notices from my antivirus about... more>> malicious attacks, and random pop ups every 3 minutes, then yes, I will read the translations on a "stolen" site if necessary.

Update:

So I MTLed the ending, from around chap 150. I just don't think I can handle 150 chapters of MC being a baby.

While there were some things I didn't really understand, it was still mostly understandable. The angst was pretty good, so I'm giving this 4 stars. <<less

My final rating will be 3.5/5 lol I enjoyed the first half, but I felt quite complicated for the other half.

Some of the main reasons of the too many misunderstandings are her low self-esteem and her complicated natal family. The story is about running away from the heartaches. Lol

Spoiler

There are a lot of misunderstandings.

    • Her relationship with her husband. Well mainly because he was busy that she felt neglected throughout their more than 2 decades of marriage and the rumored illegitimate child. Though it was resolved and they even divorced, but well the phasing was quite fast.
    • Her relationship with her first child. The root cause was the abuse he got when he was a child. This sucks since how come no one knows. I meant if you were really concerned, you should have really checked on it.
    • Her relationship with her second child. Well, he's kinda immature, but the cause was because he thought his mother slapped his girlfriend with money to leave him. In the first place, if she wanted to adopt the child (his girlfriend), she should actually mention it to them. I know she tried and her first child actually got disappointed, but she should have tried again when her children were around in high school so they could think better. Ugh so you know, no need to keep it. Since you raised the girl long enough.
    • Her relationship with her brother. Well, I know there's an age gap and their family is really complicated because of their as*hole parents, but still as an eldest, she should be able to explain properly her situation. I know her brother was young during that time, but they grew up and only when she became small that everything got resolved. Like ughh too much. Lol so like her becoming small became the trigger.
[collapse]

Well, it was fun at first, but too much drama.

Skimmed the novel (read some in the beginning and the ending) and from what I can tell, this is a pretty fluffy as per the summary but this is also a very dogbloody story.

Husband and co. Learn to care for their newly regressed wife/mother/sister. It's quite heartwarming to read about as they learn more about their "cold" lady.

It's chock full of Misunderstandings

(the big M kind that avalanched terribly) and a lot of behind the scenes schemes that get unravelled. To make it short, all is not what it seems... more>> to be on the surface.

Spoiler

In MC's eyes, she is a failure:

    • Married for love but ends up in a cold marriage
    • Children are estranged from her/don't understand her
    • Brother hates her
    • Parents are absent af and her own mother actually wants to mu*der her and her brother?? Psycho.

In reality, unbeknownst to MC, it is actually:

    • Husband loves her but has terrible sense of priorities and puts work before everything, thinks wife is cold af
    • Sons think she's overbearing (from what I gleamed from MTL)
    • Brother is an equally abandoned child thanks to terrible parents, just wants his sister's attention
    • Parents really are absent and mother really wants to mu*der her and her brother. Psycho!
      [collapse]
I kind of liked the ending? Though I feel that MC resolved her feelings too quickly, it's still a good end. It's a HE.

Spoiler

We find out that prior to regressing into a toddler, MC was already planning to divorce her husband. She does get divorced in the end after her husband relents, seeing her exhausted of their marriage and family bonds.

However, Mr. Husband chases after MC and woos her once more. They get remarried.

Tbh, I would have been happy that they never remarry but eh, that's MC for you. This all takes place in the final 2 (?) chapters of the main text. It's really quick lol

The last chapter is like a summary/conclusion of sorts of the Dream Bird who granted MC's wish for Happiness which turned her into a toddler.

[collapse]

Translations are pretty good, though I think the chapters are split up a lot (C1-C2 are 2/3 of the raw C1) <<less

This is not a normal review. It is pointing out one very specific aspect of this story that I have personally noticed. You won't be able to unsee it once you know.

I've observed something over a long time. That one if the key elements of the enduring classics is "good food and good cheer". You find it again and again, Lord of the Rings begins with Hobbits in the Shire and second breakfast, Harry Potter starts with chocolate frogs and butterbeer and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, in Narnia a... more>> kid sells out his siblings to a witch just for some Turkish Delight! Half of Alice in Wonderland is a tea party!

This is not one of those books. The most infuriating thing while reading this, to me, was the way that they handle food. If the best books are like gathering round the table for holiday dinner with family? This one, it's like living inside the mind of someone with anorexia, it's maddening, I feel so hungry. Nobody is allowed to eat ANYTHING ever. If food is presented (and it shows up incredibly often, for a book that seemingly despises it so much) - then the food must either be thrown out as "not suitable for eating" or otherwise confiscated after a single nibble. The story looks down it's nose with a snooty, holier-than-thou disposition upon mere peasant food - DIRTY food they say - at each opportunity, opportunities specifically made by the story itself, just so it can sit on the high horse!

I noticed a pattern showed up multiple times: A large amount of delicious food is placed in front of the protagonist. Her eyes light up, she goes to eat it, eats one bite, and then it's taken away. Simultaneously, a few paragraphs later, when food is put in front of the baby again she rushes to scarf it down - only for the same exact people to criticize, and I quote, "slow down, nobody's going to fight you for it". Like. Bro. YOU just fought her for it a second ago! This exact scenario and exact words have repeated multiple times, and I'm only a third of the way through!

This is not describing how to properly manage a kid's diet. This is describing how to cultivate your daughters with an eating disorder dude.

McDonald's is mentioned a few times. Usually it's just to say "Children cannot eat McDonald's" which. BS man, you clearly hate joy and all that is good and greasy in the world. But anyway. Shockingly, they actually go once! And get this. You won't believe this crap. I would never have been able to think this up myself in a million years. The story goes out of its way to describe how they take the little girl's chicken mcnuggets and carefully *peel off* the golden brown crispy part to just give her the plain chicken inside! What the frick??

They criticize the child for picky eating. Okay, okay. But. How do you expect the child to not be picky about what she eats when YOU are so picky about what she eats? This. It's not scientific. 0.0

And it keeps going! They go to a fancy rich people business party, and she's hungry. *They're too good for the hors d'oeuvres*. "Children can't eat cold food" like. Wat. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you mean the weird ancient Chinese medicine hot/cold. But then they follow up by saying "those things have been left out too long they're no good" - you've been there for like an hour?? And also. That's not how rich people food works at all?? They have money and staff - if the food's been out for awhile it gets swapped for new food. Assuming they even put it out on a table instead of having wait staff wander around with silver platters in hand.

They go and visit her adoptive mother figure and the old lady cries after recognizing the little girl she raised instantly despite that this girl should be like 38 years old - she just knows, a mother always recognizes her baby. That part is beautiful. And they follow it up with describing how Aunt Ding is the most amazing cook, her cooking, it tastes like childhood and nostalgia and HOME, and on reuniting with the little girl she immediately goes and bustles around the kitchen and makes this huge, wonderful meal. It goes out of the way to describe how the brother notices that Aunt Ding made all of Gu Qing Qing's favorite foods - she remembered after so many years. They put it all in front of Gu Qing Qing, she takes a bite - and Gu Lan (the adult brother) goes "alright, children can't eat too much" and takes away her plate! He *taunts* her while stuffing it all in his face! I was enraged.

And even more! "I want to eat fried chicken" "children cannot eat fried chicken" - even other people's children aren't spared!

There's a scene where the kindergarten goes on a field trip to the museum. Gu Qing Qing and all the other children have backpacks filled with snacks, and they trade them around being all adorable and sharing their food with the teacher. Well, Qing Qing's tiny friend Han Han, when it's her turn to trade with the teacher's jellybeans - she pulls out spicy sticks! And the teacher goes "oh no no no kids can't have this" and then suspiciously looks what Han Han's parents have packed in her backpack. It's a treasure, dude. She's got soda she's got candy she's got potato chips and jerky and spicy sticks - and the cherry on top! A bucket of gosh dang honest to goodness *fried chicken*. The story explicitly notes - the chicken is still warm, and Han Han's mother must have gotten up especially early to cook this for her... So naturally, the teacher confiscates all of it under the justification "kids can't eat this"

The teacher compensates Han Han by "trading" all of her own health food lunch for the backpack of her mother's love. And then! Not even adults are spared! They make a big point out of how the teacher has to go hungry now - because adults also "cannot eat fried chicken" and she has to find somewhere to buy a new lunch. The lunch lovingly prepared at 5AM by Han Han's mom gets to rot untouched in a tr*shcan.

And it just goes on and on and on! The maids invent a new popsicle recipe from scratch without using sugar or artificial flavors so that Qing Qing can eat it - she's still not allowed to eat. Nope. Just one popsicle. This poor desperate kid befriends the lunch lady at school because she'll slip her extra food (and there's this whole heartwarming story about how actually, the old lunch lady is really the owner of the school and she retired but couldn't bear to stop caring for the children so she cooks the lunches, and actually secretly the extra food she gives Qing Qing was made by her at home and brought specifically for this poor kid) - Qing Qing doesn't get to eat that either! Her sons and brother and husband all descend to eat a piece of the mung bean cake from the lunch lady until there's nothing left! Like vultures!

The poor child starving to death isn't even a plot point or feature of the story! It's not an event! The author just has a pathological disgust for all food and invents reasons that Gu Qing Qing must starve at every turn...

Yo. Author person dude. Meet me at the McDonald's parking lot I'm feeling obliged to roll up my sleeves and throw some hands for the honor of Sir Ronald McDonald and Mr Colonel Sanders?? What horrible crime against nature did you do to those chicken McNuggets, you know what you did! Peeled! Nuggets! If it's not in the Geneva Convention I want it added right now! <<less

like many others id rate this a 3.5 people up here giving spoilers but with some things slightly inaccurate so ill just repeat them with my version.

misunderstandings:

Spoiler

she had been fed up of her life and realised she had failed as a mother, wife and sister. her husband and her relationship were in dumps as she felt neglected and lonely although she knew he definitely loved her, her oldest son was cold and detached towards her while her youngest hated her misunderstood her for sending his GF away with money (which didn't happen) she had no idea that his GF was actually her foster daughter she raised since a child. but prior with the youngest, she didn't agree with his choice of career so things had been going downhill for a while.

misunderstanding 2-her oldest child had been abused when he was very young for a period of time where a mu*der she once sent to jail got a hold of him and abused him telling him it's his mother's fault and feeding his young mind things that stuck in his mind and we have a mentally ill kid. Not to mention he had also misunderstood something she'd said about his relationship with his GF.

misunderstanding 3-her younger brother thought she hated him his whole life and his hatred grew that one time she slapped him and said some sh*t to him. it was the straw that broke the camel. when actually what happened was that she was actually trying to run away from that mu*derer who was chasing after her and since she didn't want her bro to get in the middle of it (plus he was blocking her way not allowing he to leave) she did horrible sh*t and never explained why. it's also true that she had protected him silently and got rid of people who'd hurt him without him ever knowing. she also threatened her mother to provide her with money of which she gave half to her brother (he always thought that his parents had done that when she actually fought for it so hed never lacked money)

misunderstanding 4- her husband and her relationship has been poor for seemingly along loooong time in which she continued to hold things in never discussing her issues and never showing her dissatisfaction. she although aware that her husband loved her thought that he had an illegitimate child outside which he never refuted or even talked to her about assuming others would talk to her about the situation. it was his deceased brother's wife and child.

These are the four major misunderstandings which span pretty much the whole novel-most of it.

[collapse]

I usually avoid such novels because all issues/misunderstandings only ever have one simple solution-COMMUNICATION. forget about issues with her children, what about her husband? he was not a great husband agreed. busy, busy BUSY... he never had much time, so why didn't she make clear her dissatisfaction and hold them in? when for 20+ years of their marriage she'd been getting sick photos of her hubby and other women, even just the rumours going around and those threatening calls etc why did she never tell him? why lose trust in him and not personally confront him? she never fought for them. he never qualified as good husband, why did he let so many gossips about him having multiple women go around? why not try to find out what went wrong with his wife to slowly change? they both had so many issues while she let herself be wronged. nobody but herself did that to her. One thing that pissed me was how she treated her brother, as a child seemingly being the one person he relies on, you push him away and hurt him ruthlessly leaving shadows. she never even apologised for what she'd said to him right?

I HATE it when people assume that they can do good things behind the scenes but then stab you in person expecting what? love? if you love and care for him why not to the face? if someone told me that the reason I've had a smooth life was that my father made it so but to my face and in person ignores me, calls me a nuisance and says he hates me then what? am I supposed to feel so grateful that everything is okay now? ha...I don't think so.

honestly, although misunderstanding is not usually my thing I had high hopes for this, I wanted to see how these misunderstandings would be solved and I wanted to know about their deep self-reflection and some flashbacks over the years of how things have been for the children and hubby-esp the hubby. but no believe it or not it's so brushed over and she forgave them so easily it was horrible. I didn't expect her to hate them or punish them really but more like discuss things and point out their faults. you know funnily there was never a scene where she finally talked about all the feelings she's been hiding in the dark and about her true thoughts with her sons and husband... it was disappointing. I had higher expectations than I should have.

it's not a bad book though. it was fun and emotional. like some have mentioned some things really are unnecessary and causes the story to become a bit draggy.

if you're here for fluffiness please don't expect much, I like to think its more angsty than it lets on not to mention shes a 3 y/o for more than half the novel and once she's back to an adult there ain't not many cute moments apart from two-three things. <<less

A decent novel with a suprisingly strong MC despite her spending 80% book as a 3 yr old child. Lots of misunderstandings all round that could be solved by decent conversation but meh we wouldn't be reading such a convulated book lol.

Pardon me a little, okay? It's just my ranting and review because I just want to get somethings about it off my chest somewhere at least.

After finishing a mystery young adult book, I pretty much lost all of my brain cells. So, I was searching for a no-brainer novel with some fluffy romance and all. AND I stumbled upon it. Review in NU was pretty good and the description piqued my interest. Sooo... despite knowing it's not fully translated I started reading. Honestly the MTL part isn't bad and the... more>> novel isn't half-bad either. So why am I not writing a review like I normally do, we are going to talk about it here...

Now, if it was a bad novel then I wouldn't even bother reading, let alone writing a review about it. The plot has great potential in it. There is no dogblooded drama (though there are some unnecessary side plots which makes it draggy sometimes, but we're not going to talk about it here). There is ample amount of foreshadowing, it'll leave you guessing for a while (which is one of the best points of this novel). There is many misunderstanding between characters but honestly I think it has pretty good reason for it too. Of course, there are some plot holes but if you can gloss over it, it doesn't really affect the bigger picture.

... you'd think now that hmm... seems a good novel to me. But NO! The author did all these good things and set up a good plot but then damaged the whole thing. This frustrates me the most. The novel wasn't delivered quite the right way!

When our MC, Gu Qingqing, becomes 3 years old, the story starts. Her family and her younger brother, Gu Lan, are the one who takes care of her (later comes her previous suitor Bai something). So.. they spoil her and all that and their relationship gets closer. Now here is my first complaint that is, all of you have a pretty shitty relationship with her then why are spoiling her to the sky? Well, guess what, it's because she is cute and sensible. Like dude.. wth?

Now, there's a bunch of misunderstanding here which we are gonna analyze one by one-

Let's talk about the MC's relationship with her younger brother, Gu Lan. They have quite the shitty parents. They grew up without familial affections. So I can understand how their relationship got to where it was. Honestly, I can emphasize with the MC in this case. When your parent's attention is in their career and whatever amount of affection and attention you get, gets divided or goes solely to your younger sibling, the feeling isn't good. It doesn't mean that you hate your sibling or something, you love them just like others. But if there isn't enough communication then the relationship turns awkward and sometimes hostile. And in this case, the MC tried to protect her brother and had a showdown. It was her fault and her brother's too. It was kind of inevitable. But when MC became a child, Gu Lan spoiled her just because she's cute and he can't help but spoil her. Like author, we know that MC is cute and all but you don't have to remind us in every chapter. The issues here are quite real. I'll give it to the author. But the emotions and complications could have been depicted better. This imperfections just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Now, the relationship between MC and her eldest son is much more complicated. She wanted to control him and though he let her do that, he blamed and hated her too, for his own childhood physical abuse (which by the way was the work of a psychopath who went to jail because of MC). Now don't ask me how no one knew about it when he is an heir to a big company. I don't have a clue either. The eldest, Fu Sijin, later developed psychological issues and trauma which led to his bad relationships (the fault was mostly on his part and he acknowledged it though). Look, real issue here. If the emotional scenes are written a bit better things would've been perfect. But NO! When he knew the truth that he misunderstood his mother. He blamed himself and was cured in a few days. Like mannnn... that's some serious stuff going on here and we are going to end this just like that?! Even if you know that this was not your mother's fault, but all the pain and sufferings are gone just like that?! #_#

Well, the relationship between the MC and her youngest son, Fu Sishen, is typical example of a teenage son who is in rebellious period with his parents. So, there's not really that much to say about that. Still, issues are realistic enough but it could have been written better.

The most disappointing thing in this novel is the ML, Fu Heng. He neglected his wife and family and treated his home like a hotel for two decades and didn't really communicate with her busying himself with his business. Now when he came to know that how because of his neglect, some crazy obsessive bit*h harassed MC for 20 years just to marry him. When MC became a child and he got know that MC wanted to divorce him, his love for her became so high that he wanted to pamper her to the sky. Honestly, he is a bastard. I don't really like these type of people who don't really cherish people but when the oppsite party wants to break it off with them, they won't let go. He couldn't even give her the thing she needed the most- sense of security and familial love. They were not in a toxic relationship but it wasn't a healthy one either. MC preserved through this for two decades and who wouldn't get tired of all this. Now when she changed back to her original form, he said sorry three times and asked forgiveness. Like bit*h what..? They are gonna gloss over this whole thing just like that...?!

That's when I dropped it, I didn't even bother reading it to the end.

P.S:

I wrote a review about this cause I cried in some scenes here and it really made me emotional *though don't know if it's because of periods or what*.

I solely wrote this review because of my hatred towards this ML ×_×

Honestly, instead of portraying the MC as a kind person, If the author made her more of a grey person with flaws and strengths in her character then it would give MC and the overall novel much more depth.

P.S: #2

Spoiler

Ok, searched for spoiler in NU. Guess what? MC and ML gets divorced but no one knew about it and then ML started to chase MC and again get together.

... still not gonna read it.... leaves a bad taste in my mouth like this... for the first time in a while I am NOT cool about happy ending!

I have mixed feeling about this story. But one thing was sure at the beginning and got more reinforced at the end.

Her parents are really sh*tty.

This story is basically the clear example of a "what if" closure of a lot of misunderstandings caused by miscommunication.

However, that "what if", thankfully, remained just that, a "what if". We get a nice ending with a big shock factor, but a nice one nonetheless. The last chapter of the novel may be my favorite because it was just too beautiful I teared up...

Her wish wasn't that of becoming a child because of her lack of love, her wish was "purest of happiness" 😭😭😭

If the story ended with both of them still married, that would had been a very hard pill to swallow for me. My homegirl suffered too much to be tied down again. If ML ain't picking his sh*t up after the divorce and chase her himself this time, I'm dropping curses. Thankfully, he did that.

My other regret was for Bai Qiyu. I kinda shipped the two.

I found this story when it was literally first being published and I was head over heels in love with it from the beginning. I laughed and cried so many times. I called it Baby Mom cause it just seemed like a fitting name 😂. I hope everyone gives it a chance cause the storyline, relationships, and writing are truly beautiful.

Really liked the story. Felt so sad for the FL. I agree that the ML didn’t do much to redeem himself. At least I couldn’t feel the male lead love for the FL. Treated her more like family and possession than like a lover so was a bit disappointed by that aspect. Still, I found the story pretty interesting

I really love this story that's why I'm giving it a five star review, I don't regret reading this, in fact it is very cute and heartwarming, the misunderstandings are cute and it doesn't bother me at all.

I also love their reactions whenever Qingqing is sick or kidnapped or when she causes trouble, It just melts my heart.

Anyway, the MTL is 75-80% understandable so I really have no complaints. Just give it a try and don't be misled by the bad reviews, I can only suggest that you read it first before making conclusions about the story.

I’ve given it a 4 star just because the story has given me quite the uncomfortable feeling. It was very bittersweet and although the ending was a beautiful happy end, after everything I’ve read, I find it hard to be super happy. There were so many emotions that I felt, QingQing’s pain was really heartbreaking and made me very uncomfortable even when it ended beautifully.

It’s a novel about opening our eyes to a whole new perspective. Misunderstandings happened because both sides did not think of another reason for such actions.... more>> If they only talked it out or stayed calm before lashing out then the pain that QingQing felt would have lessened greatly and she would have had a wonderful family life. It’s a great story and I’d recommend it. It’s not like those dog-blood dramas and if you’re quite the emotional person then better prepare some tissues because QingQing’s memories are very heartbreaking. I loved how the author made the ML redeem himself in the end and all the other developments that happened to the other characters. In the end, I’m happy for QingQing and if I could, I would’ve cursed her parents to hell. : ( <<less

My final ratings is 3.5/5? It's alright just too much misunderstandings. I feel like the author would sometimes drag the story longer, making it kinda lengthy & a little bit unnecessary :/

But tho thank you translator for translating the novel :)

Here's some spoilers tho it might not be accurate as my memory is pretty fuzzy:

Why did the female lead shrank to a three year old child?
Spoiler

So when the female lead shrank into a three year old child, it's due to the (magical?) bird which granted her wish of "wanting happiness" as a thanks for the female lead saving it once. In which the bird replied with "Use the purest heart to find your lost happiness" thus the female lead shrank to a three year old child.

[collapse]

What misunderstandings are there?
Spoiler

Female lead little brother: The little brother thought that the female lead hated him & pushed him away when he's young (female lead told the brother to stay away from her) thus hating the female lead in return. However the female lead did not hate the little brother & her pushing him away when he's young was to protect him as during that time she witness a mu*der scene & the mu*der isn't caught yet. Therefore the female lead didn't want the brother to be caught up in such a mess & be harmed, thus she pushed him away. In fact the female lead actually tries to take care of the brother when they were young & give him some childhood memories etc. For example: Bringing the little brother to the amus**ent Park to play, giving him money allowance that she managed to persuade from her irresponsible & selfish parents, when the female lead heard that her little brother was bullied, she help to deal with the bullies without the little brother knowing.

1st son: The first son have gotten psychological trauma due to the female lead & always deem the female lead as controlling. I guess he thought that the female lead didn't love or care much abt them???

2nd son: He's immature & kinda quick to jump into conclusions. After seeing a video of the female lead giving a cheque to his girlfriend & he couldn't find his girlfriend. In which he thought that the female lead used a cheque to chase his girlfriend away but plot twist (?) apparently his girlfriend was the female lead granddaughter & the cheque that the female lead gave to her was to support her studies.

Husband: Female lead didn't felt any love or care from the male lead, basically felt neglected. Thought that the husband had an affair as there was rumours of him having an illegitimate child. Though that "illegitimate" child was actually his deceased older brother child. But though they did get divorced in the end but the male lead managed to make the female lead fall in love again & they remarried in the end :/

Who's the real culprit/villian who have been aiming for the female lead life?
Spoiler

Ta-da! The answer is the female lead mother! Okay but tho is actually because the female lead mother is v greedy & wanted the shares that the female lead have. As such the mother have been plotting a lot of schemes to harm the female lead in order to get her hands on the female lead shares. An example would be almost causing the female lead to have a car crash when she was young.

Personal thoughts:

Spoiler

I think that some of the many accidents like kidnapping that are a little bit unnecessary & makes the story pretty lengthy to read. Low-key feel that the female lead that shrank to a three year old child doesn't feel like a three year old child but a five/ six year old child instead. As sometimes her way of speaking more likely sounds like what a five/ six year old child would say instead of a three year old. But it's just my personal thoughts & opinion so yea :) Overall it's a pretty decent read but there's misunderstanding everywhere?

IDK. I'm conflicted about this novel. I kinda like and hate at the same time. I feel like MC suffered a lot from her family but her children, husband and brother also suffering. I hate her family. I also don't like the fact that ML never addressed his so called 'first love' to the public. Idk, it matters a lot to me that they let it slide just like that. She has been torturing MC for almost 3 decades, yes she got arrested at the end but I still hate... more>> that ML didn't clarify that he was never together with the woman. His first love is MC. I'm gonna pretend the last 2 chapters didn't exist. I will pretend the story stop at

I'd much rather watch this kind of family ethics drama on television rather than three different titles but similar plots of having an affair with a third party or switched at birth babies (lol An Ran)

Honestly, it's too early to give this novel a decent review but I'm getting the same vibes from the Princess is Evil (without the fantasy genre).

AND MC IS SO CUTEEE!

I'm here to make the review again 👏

I need to make a mark on which story I've had read 🤭

I will give it a solid 5 ⭐, a very touching slightly aghast and tragic story. There is a lot of mental health relate of topic being brought out realistically in this story. All the character also being written beautifully.

Character wise

I personally feel so depressed when reading and understanding some character on this novel, even the Villain got me so sad at some point.

FL she is very pitiful one, being brought up by that kind of parents are definitely the biggest tragedy for her. With her character that don't bother to make an explanation she is misunderstood a lot. As a wife, as a sister, as a mother, as a person. The loneliness giving many negative feeling for her. So sometimes either she face it in violent way or pull herself completely and just ignore it all the way (I couldn't remember the right phrases for this one)

ML is simply also unexpressive person. He tend to focused on something he think most important to him, and at his young self that important thing is simply his carrier. Him loving FL and able to married her probably seen to him as a sense of fulfilment where his goal has already achieved so no need to bother again. Uncaring and selfish person at some point too. He doesn't even accept completely of his wrong doing before he got that divorce paper in his hand. But he is amazing for able to face it and redeem his wrong doing with heads up. I'm glad he is the ML actually.

The Father, he is quite a sad one too in here. All of his life he always been living in the shadows of other. When his brother was alive his parents don't even bother to raise him properly. Being compared relentlessly to his brother his character became timid, as the parents always give him that sense of him as a failure. Even after his brother death, instead of choosing to cultivate and motivate her son, the mother prever to trust other more than her son. Even at the last moment of her life it seems that she don't even see her son and just choose to give her share to her unborn grandchildren instead of him. He is a timid, coward and dependant person. I'm mad at him but also felt sorry at the same time.

Lastly the mother, she a great sample that greed could messed up your head. A very ambitious person with a lot of greed. It seem so ridiculous when I first read that this mother was one of the Villain. But when I read the novel throughly I kinda grasp her point of view. Like sometimes when you work to hard to reach something but it was smashed just right before you grasp it. The harder you work, the frustrated you became. This is where the mentality collapsed, where she start not thinking in the normal way, and only see her goal. Short of like that gambling addict, they tend to only want to win the gamble but ignore the fact that the money they use to gamble are more than they got as a prize. Their mind couldn't comprehend that and only want and get happy when winning the gamble despite so many loses. I actually kinda hope we could see her redemption or her acceptance of her crime not only her being forced to be responsible for it.

The whole characters are just really messed up, not a single normal people being written as a character. The Elder brother are really pitiful. I just somehow not understand the part when no one truly saw him in that desperate state? Not even a servant or some sort of that? Also this is where the ML and FL are truly guilty for. Then there is the youngest son, who is probably the most carefree one, he doesn't suffer as much as other and able to still see the good in people and see everything in the slightly naive side, though sometimes I want to smack his head for this.

[collapse]

The misunderstanding at the novel also being explained cleanly and brought as a natural misunderstanding and not some forced type of misunderstanding. The reader being brought to understand each one by see the deep of each character. Very beautiful 😭

Spoiler

there is a little bit dissatisfaction at the end, where the reconciliation of ML and FL at the end. I kinda hope the author would give it more scene and writing for this moment. Where her healing process not just being tell in the narrative, a short narrative. Where she can finally let go of everything properly. Where their divorce didn't became just a mere joke. We don't see from the ML side too, when he finally to pursue her back instead of letting her go at the end. Or the children's view regardless their parents decision. It look so rushed for me. There is many of delaying matter at the 2/4 and 3/4 of story but it just go like a bullet train at the 4/4.

The last part I got it from the MTL, and unexpectedly it was quite good. You won't got that brain damaging side effects from this. <<less

It's an adorable story of familial love.

The baby is so cute. However, she suffered so much by herself. I really want to hug her.

The husband is a good guy albeit a bit standoffish but he is starting to better himself for good. The brother and the two children have also found out the truths behind everything that hurt them and are in a better place which is good.

That is also why I'm dropping this novel. They are stretching the novel too much. Should've finished after the main antagonist had... more>> been taken care of.

Anyway, hoping the baby will fully recover and be happier by the end of the novel. <<less

It was a really good novel to read.

I laughed, and I cried. I totally loved the MC. Although she has her own faults, she was a strong character. When she knew she was done with something, she went through with it. The not-so-perfectness made her more real than being a 2D character.

The ML is so-so to me. When no one actually visited MC when she was hospitalized after an accident it just broke my heart. And WTF is wrong with MLs secretary? She forgot to inform him his wife called? The ML must have been in love but he was an as*hole to his wife. And I would have liked it if he actually did something to that incompetent sectary after he got to know about it, though it was also his fault for bing negligent.

Although they got back together in the end, I wish he had suffered a bit more before getting MCs love straight away considering all MC had gone through.

Though most of her problems would have been easy to solve if they actually had a proper sit-down and communicated, I understand not every human is the same, and MC being the way she is how her character was written to be.

I agree with that comment on how the translation site was so sketchy. Not only it was divided into chapters every 2 3 paragraphs, and the nonstop links and ads, but there were also more TNs than the chapter -_-

Luckily, that translator had stopped and someone else has continued. So after I think 20 chapters, it goes into becoming full chapters once again.

And the translation is not bad.

Anyway, it's a good story to read and I enjoyed it. <<less

It's melodramatic and cliché, but it does well enough in portraying emotions and walking through a character's thinking. I may not always agree with some of these characters' thoughts (like, really, I could only resist rolling my eyes at the eldest son's thinking because he has a traumatic history; everyone else was just being foolish), but I can understand where they're coming from. The pacing ain't half-bad and there are some interesting ideas in there (namely, the MC and her brother's very complicated relationship with their parents and the motivations... more>> of said parents).

It's great to read if you want to be brain-dead for a change, but I recommend you read this in bursts of chapters, as opposed to singular chapters. Seriously, you may die of frustration if you decide to read this one chapter at a time. 😅 <<less
