The cover is a lie, the story doesn't have anything to do with soccer or any sport.

Just a little bit summary, it's not a spoiler since you people probably gonna get it after reading 2 chapter of the story.

The news shows that a Flaming Meteor fell from the sky, people joking that they got superpower (MC joking that a system will wake up inside him), earthquake happened, MC smashes his head on his laptop, the system woke up inside him, system doesn't like how MC being professional procrastinator (it mean... more>> he likes to delay things until the very end), so the system take over his body and fight bad dude with super power using martial arts skills. Done, now give me some like. <<less

Our MC has been possessed by an AI System that is chivalrous and likes to do things to level up while the MC himself just wants to play online games and read webnovels. The system occasionally gets advice from MC but is usually in control of the body.

Now the concept of the novel is great, but the execution is rather poor, hence the ratings of this novel is all over the place. The author tries to make the novel funny with the banter between MC and system but it comes... more>> off "meh." And because there's no underlying goal, we get to read a bunch of daily life/filler/side scenarios that aren't that interesting to read. That's the crux of the problem - it's not interesting enough to make me want to find out what's going to happen in the next chapter. But you should still give it a try because you might find it funny. And also, translation and editing is a problem with missing info and wrong translations. So I'm not sure if that's a contributer to the MC and System's dialogue being not that funny. <<less

This is actually my first review for the site, so go easy.

Essentially, this novel is a slice of life comedy. Although on the outside, it does indeed seem more of a xuanhuan action comedy, the action in this novel takes a place on the back burner. What action that is present is usually short, with the main character being, well, the main character, they tend to have the power to defeat most enemies with ease, so the biggest trouble the MC has is tracking down opponents who can escape quickly.... more>> Thus, if you are looking for action, I would suggest looking somewhere else.

However, if what you are looking for is quality writing, you found it. Although some sections are predictable, I genuinely have fun reading this. The interactions between MC and Fang are great. You read that right, I said the MC and Fang. That is because I don't believe that the person who seems to be the MC, Mr. Fang, is not, despite the story coming from his point of view. The reason for this is because, well, he doesn't do a lot. Mr. Fang feels like a side character from other novels, helping the MC that is the system in ways other than fighting and leveling up. In fact, without the system (heck in some scenarios even with the system) Mr. Fang is downright useless. His interactions with the system and the systems acquaintances (by pretending to be the same person) are what really drives the story along.

Now I'd like to talk about power levels and world layout. The world layout is clever, one I've not seen before. Essentially, the classic cultivation world is declining, with the Vitality (spiritual energy, magical energy, qi, ki, whatever) gradually increasing on Earth instead. With this, people from the 'Upper Realm' can transmigrate to Earth through two ways. They can either descend in soul form and attempt to take over the body of a current resident at the risk of being rejected and dying, or they can descend physically, sacrificing many resources in the process. As for power levels, in the beginning the government uses a very typical F-S class system. However the MC (system) introduces its own power level scale in the form of water levels, going from (I believe) Rice, Mug, Cutlery, Bucket, Basin (sink), Pond, Lake, and then Inner Sea level (I have only read to chapter 595, so anything stronger has yet to appear). This really helps the reader properly imagine the levels in the way that you can imagine how much water it takes to fill a pond compared to a sink, and a lake compared to a pond.

I would like to end this by saying none of these notes are criticisms. This novel is fun, long, and clever. I would recommend it to those looking for comedy, and not angst or arrogant MC's. Reading it is fun, and the translations are good. When the author realizes there isn't enough going on, there are frequent enough (but not too common) time skips to important events. It is unlike other novels where the characters have an urgent matter every day, and when one is solved another appears. Overall, I give this novel a 8.8/10. There are some ways it could be improved, but generally the novel has quality. <<less

Not much of a story, most of the events are played like a CYOA, except take the choice part out for the reader and make the choices that are available really boring. To summarise the whole thing in one sentence, it's like reading filler that never ends.

As of chapter 200 he doesn't seem to be anywhere near becoming autonomous or interested in taking control of his body. He has no drive to become strong because everything he wants is literally provided for him and his life is pretty much never... more>> in danger thanks to the system levelling him up by itself. It's like the author wanted to write about a life driven by one of those auto-playing game functions. All this is pretty much set up in the first few chapters so there isn't anywhere to go from there.

Do not recommend, there are many other stories out there that are more interesting than this novel. <<less

The whole novels feels like a filler story or rather a gag show. The MC doesn't have any goal but to play video games everyday and the not so clever system trying utmost best to provide ways for MC to gain benefits by giving question which has simple solutions. If you're looking for novel to invest time and focus on then this isn't the one for you. Just read it for little laugh here and there which still won't be much. This novel knows its not gonna cross the line.... more>> Wasted potentially good setting. <<less

An interesting story that has potential to do something different. This is more 3.5/5 so far, but I'll bump up as it's trying to do something different and has potential to be quite good.

The GOOD:

  • There are some variant plays on old ideas here, and interesting almost new implementations.
  • The comedic angle is good.
  • Plotting seem s pretty well thought out so far. World development seems a touch patchwork, but not bad.
The BAD:

  • Pacing is erratic- Story seems irritatingly purposeless till Ch 7.
  • Many plot-convenient developments sprinkled throughout.
  • Many hidden, unexplained 'magical' motivators
    • Spoiler

      (aggro, morality)

      [collapse]
  • Support characters handled more as plot props than contributors/characters
The DIFFERENT:

  • 'OP protag' is captive NEET in his own, stolen body.
Overall, once you get past Ch 7, you'll know whether you might like this or not. It has some potential, so it remains to be seen if/how it handles the awkward/unusual situation (hopefully to good end).

It's very good.

Everyone has already talked about the protagonist and the system already, so I'll brush on the setting.

The story kind of combines this:

    • "Journey to the West" with its demons and hierarchy of Divine Buddhist governance, cultivation, and system of morality.
    • Boku no Hero Academia - Day 1 where super powers are just beginning to randomly develop in people.
    • Wuxia - Neigong and legendary martial arts exist
    • Modern Day - All our everyday normal amenities, governments, and so on are also here.
So far it works.

No glaring plot holes or anything.

I bet a good number of 1 stars are simply people who ignored the comedy tag or don't get the numerous references/allusions.

As of chapter 108

______________________________________________________

That said, I read to chapter 1128 and I can't even remember the protagonist's name or a single real plot thread of the novel after 15 months.

It was more like 2.9-3.3 stars just going off the memory of how much fun I had reading this.

A novel which has much deeper depths than you would imagine. The first 50 chapters are quite simple, without too much plot. But the more you read, the better the story becomes. The plot is intricate, with plans hatching after a hundred chapters at the perfect time.

The protagonist may be lazy, but he understands when to be hardworking. The system is finely made as well. It only has its core values to look up to, that is why some people would perceive it as "s*upid". However, one must realise that... more>> it has only existed for a year or two at chapter 300, so you can't really expect it to be a social butterfly. That's where the protagonist comes in.

Big downside is the amount of propaganda they're putting down your throat. China this China that. America bad and dumb, China strong and smart. I really don't care but it just keeps getting pushed and pushed, the MC who's supposed to be "neutral" also only helps China even though he represents the entirety of humanity. It's illogical but I guess you can't read a modern chinese novel without propaganda or racism

Without the propaganda it would be an amazing story and definitely a lot more popular than it is. <<less

My description spoils one or two gags of the novel (until chap 12). If you like comedy, systems and Lin Fans (see The Strongest System) you will like it.

Spoiler

A meteor falls while granting abilities to many people.

Put a child-like AI that has no emotions in the body of a procrastinator.

Make it gain experience by destroying criminals while under a disguise.

Allow it to cook the best food ever.

Now make it need "aggro" from different persons for it to be able to cast some abilities.

You get Fang Ning, an esper that has gained the ability to cook better food and is an example to society. (Yes, the cops themselves say it)

[collapse]

5/5 would procrastinate again. <<less

This has a very nice premise and beginning. It’s filled with a lot of humor. However it eventually becomes rather stale. I’m not quite sure why. I think it’s because the tone is too casual. There’s never a real sense of crisis and there’s a lack of a goal. The system’s program to becone stronger drives the story. However it is a nice novel that I think many would enjoy.

A solid novel with a nice translation. The premise is a subversion of a usual chinese "system novel" plot and author sticks to it so far, mixing expected elements with some unconventional ones. Also, do not be discouraged by synopsis, the MC does have some say in what his body/system does, he just has to jump through some hoops to get what he wants. This is more of a comedy than "... and I must scream" scenario.

There is no great evil to defeat or goal to reach, so the pace... more>> is kind of relaxed. Still, it doesn't feel like author pads out the word count and the action moves along at an acceptable speed.

In conclusion, I recommend you to read a couple of chapters to get a feeling for this novel and decide whether you like it, because I certainly do. <<less

Can’t remember what chapter I was up to, but I remember that this story got more, and more disturbingly nationalistic as it went on. I quit reading it after they chipped everyone, and everyone they didn’t like would thereafter be melted into goop remotely. By that point the main MC who was seized by the system was more or less onboard with the system, and didn’t have any issues with people being killed for laziness.

The novel is pretty fun to read its a new concept about system having the control of the body while the main character is just a observer and a backseat gamer. The reason I am giving it 3 stars only because the author constantly projects himself onto the MC in the first few chapters which annoys me. In the beginning it says MC is slim then later after the system constantly exercise with the MC's body for 2 month MC suddenly got a pot belly in one of the chapter.......... more>> in the beginning you could tell the author is very insecure about himself and constantly projects himself onto MC and make MC looks handsome. This one point annoyed me the most whenever author mentions MC's bodily appearance and stuck with for the rest of the novel. Other than that I guess its a fun novel to read its like a 20 minute episode anime with many mini stories each episode <<less
