The Death Knight, who mu*dered his family and brought calamity upon humanity, is given the chance to go back in time and correct his mistakes.

Damien Haksen possessed talent that would have gone down in history. However, an Archlich, the pinnacle of Dark Magic, turned him into a Death Knight and made him live as a s*ave.

Under the Archlich’s command, he ultimately mu*dered his own family and destroyed an entire Kingdom.

He regained his senses at the very last moment, but it was already too late. Just as he was about to give up everything, a miracle occurred.

Regression.

Returning to where he was before it all began, his goal was clear.

“This time, I’ll live solely for the happiness and future of my family. Of course…”

After condemning every last one of those filthy Dark Mages and giving them a taste of hell!

I have mixed feelings about this novel.

I enjoyed the first half of the novel. Or at least, that's how I felt since I stocked up a bunch of chapters to binge-read.

Unfortunately, as typical of the power-scaling, regression novels, there's a lot of dragging that goes on in the story. Usually, a good novel would introduce new concepts or keep the power scale as wide as possible. I'm talking about reaching Grandmaster or whatever transcendent level much further into the novel.

Maybe it's because I've been spoiled with other novels, but 352... more>> chapters are nowhere even close to what I thought was going to be the end. It felt like in the last quarter of the novel, the author just hit a giant wall of writer's block, and so they decided to speed up the novel to get it over with.

For example, the MC spends the entire novel (310 chapters) leveling up finally to the Grandmaster stage. The last stage (probably). Yet, in the 40 chapters, the MC becomes strong enough to beat the final boss, his archnemesis, Dorugo. How does that make any sense, chapter-wise?

The fights also got soooo bland, and you could easily tell. It was always a sequence of "I need to get serious, " from Damien and the enemy going, "I also need to get serious, " then it repeats in even the same fight. Also, too many times near the end were the enemies just given a jail-free escape and they narrowly escape with their life.

Not only that but a lot of plot lines earlier in the story are just thrown in at the ending arc just for the sake of it. This goes back to my point of writer's block where I think the author wanted to finish the story. I forgot Damien's summons existed until they showed up in the ending arc. Obviously, this is also because I took a break from reading the novel to store up chapters, but they literally aren't mentioned for so long. The side characters, painstakingly developed through their arcs, are just suddenly forgotten in the final arc.

It was a fun novel to read, nonetheless. But it just makes me so sour with how the way the novel ended. This easily could've been extended if Dorugo was removed earlier, and the emergence of a greater enemy hinted at earlier in the novel. I understand if the author really did suffer from writer's block, but man, they could've just taken a long hiatus. Nothing wrong with that, instead of rushing and writing a poor ending. <<less

It's a gem 💎

A very interesting and good novel, the MC is just too badass lol, he is trying to fix everything he did before in the past and is quite fixed on saving his family from the trouble he caused before regressing, he is quite a good character and also I like the novel. Just hope the translator bro keep translating it, lol I want to read more....

He can solo anyone lol.... But he choose his family and also his own path without giving heed to other except his... more>> family members... He had reached the strongest point in his previous life but it all just now a past. He is walking a new point of rediming himself and want to protect his family no matter what.

MC is a character that we want to be.... He is good and caring unlike some other regression where the MC is emotionless.. he is full of emotions hahaha and remember it lol never dare to talk bad about his sister infront of him.

Lastly to the translator please keep translating it I cannot wait to read more especially the coming duel... 😂 <<less

It's below average for me, everytime the MC struggles a bit he conveniently had an opponent in the past that has the skill set to solve it, and his personality is bad, I don't know why his family likes him.

The redemption to mend with his family was kinda bad as well I wish the author made it slow, like in the Second coming of gluttony where they gradually forgives him as he turns into a better person.

The side characters are Forgettable and Dull and most of the Villains are one... more>> note Evil Characters.

And Lastly the Fights are Stretched Out for as long as possible, as the Characters kept on Yapping and Yapping like dumbasses it gets annoying.

The premise was interesting but the execution was mediocre. <<less

Overall the story isn't bad... It's a pretty typical regression to past self, now I'm op type novel, where he always has some technique from his past life that's so op and his enemies are always within his ability to kill them...

It does have I think a lot of issues, but these are all more minor nitpicks of things that annoy me, but are more personal preference on if they bother you...

Spoiler
  • He keeps using potions, elixirs, ect which just feel so unnecessary... So many things like the hearts of spirits gives him heat vision sense, yet that is used never again... he gains poison immunity from some honey, never used or mentioned again...
  • Techniques are always an asspull... Whenever he needs something "The phantom whatever technique to hide" but you would think if he was the strongest then he would have his own techniques other than "divine sword"
  • The power gap between ranks is not consistent... It's treated like absolute walls where a mid can't win against a high, and master classes are suppose to be so incredibly rare, yet we see so so many of them in the enemies that MC fights. This one bothers me a lot since it keeps talking about how the dark mages had to hide and use all their power but there is so many of them that are so powerful but "church scary" when it seems to be about equal. Plus the world is so peaceful even with these supreme evils, and there is so many plots for these smaller kingdoms... Like these "masters" are so powerful they are basically unrivaled so just send one to the kingdoms without anyone and wipe them out...
  • The main character is just plain s*upid... He acts like he cares about his family, but does essentially nothing to actually showcase that where it just ends up feeling like a cheap attempt at character building... Especially with almost every time we see them (which is like a chapter between arcs, if that) its just them worrying about him and his dad saying he is proud of him, queue "emotional moment" that just feels cheap.

This is the bigger thing in relation to his family... he talks like he cares so much about them but he is actively putting them in danger. He announces to the world at how powerful he is, while using his actual name, while leaving ZERO protection for his family... The people he fights against are all at bare minimum master class, but sure that bracelet that protects against a high-rank attack should be sufficient. He gives them some techniques to train some knights like thats going to f*cking stop any of the people targeting him... Then when an enemy threatens him by saying his family could be targeted he just says "I'll kill you all first" like you f*cking dumbass, your leaving them alone pretty much permanently with literally not even a single low-class protecting them (that we know of) and your not exactly taking care of the dark mages quickly... It's just f*cking annoying plot armor on why they are still alive... If you really care about your family, get rid of your worthless pride of not wanting to use dark magic, and then use your brokenly overpowered abilities that you willingly sealed to wipe them out with your identity concealed...

  • There is so much forced emotion in the book... The dark mages supposedly took the souls of the family of a dark knight who they think doesn't even have a mind, and then instead of actually doing anything just torture them... Like why, are they that free... and every single f*cking dark mage seems to have a connection to his family dying that it just feels so worthless how he gets mad over it... Just make him have a goddamn hatred for all dark mages for his normal motivation and create an actually impactful moment with someone important... It's just annoying with every strong enemy "They did horrible thing to xxx" or whatever, those characters have so little screen time that I don't even care.
  • Other minor things like the dark mages being so evil, yet the church has people who will torture huge numbers of people to find dark mages...

This novel is the same as any other korean op novels. It's frustrating to read there is no emotional depth like you can't feel his rage or you can't accept the reconciliation with his family members. Even while saving his family members he will come at the last minute when atleast some harm is done to his family which is also an irritating trait in any other korean op novels.

This is either the fairly impressive writitng of a 8-year old, or more likely, utter tr*sh. The protagonist is killing people left, right and center without any consequence. The "churc" basically does the same, only governed by wether a person uses "dark" or "normal" mana. Civil servants are just corrupted villains. They can be killed by anyone at any time without anyone batting an eyelid.

The world building is just atrocious, the protagonsts family can be attacked and hounded by anything from a low-ranking gang to lower- and higher level nobels.... more>> And what does "noble" even mean in this context? The family is just a simple farmer household, the title of "viscount" apparently dont come with a fief, duties, tax income, or anything at all. They are just simple farmers with a title. <<less
