To be precise is to say that there is nothing so critical about stories/plots, the thing is they're nothing new in genral. And it doesn't matter who was the first to write such plots. The situations and plots described in arcs since long lost their novelty and became routines (some of them are a bit braindead let's admit) , thus the only thing that differ a random writer and one who can really amaze you lies, in my opinion, either in writing style or unusual twists and turns.
First few chapters kind of set the goal to what will happen in the arc itself. If she wants to learn business, she will end up a business giant. If she wants to be a top artist, she will become one. Meaning, there will be no sudden turn of events you don't expect and everything is very routine. Secondly, I can't say the writing style is exciting, sometimes I find it rather bland. Maybe because of a lot of random stuff, or too much time spent on one thing.
Few words about FL. I'm not a fan of how she was portrayed. She's supposed to be strong, reliable and a master of face-slaps, but sometimes her counterattack feels like mulling over the confrontation and it becomes overbearing with viciousness. At least I see it at times like this. She always repeats the phrase - if someone treats me well, I treat them well and on the contrary, if someone treats her badly, she will pay back - but her paying back goes on and on and it becomes unbalanced at times. Some characters in the arcs do deserve a payback and I prefered the times when she just gave a push and the rest took its' turn because the people themselves were not good and it's more like karma than being persecuted by her. I don't mind strong women or omnipotent characters, on the opposite I prefer my characters to be strong and independent, instead of being silly white cuties or dumb bunnies that need protection, these characters can be fun in their own way. But the problem is that you get tired how every arc everything moves in her direction as if she predicted how people will react and what they will do, of course she has her mirror to follow and help, but characters' reaction to her actions always coincides to what she expects them to do. She goes to the top, becomes a person who is looked up to, but she still has some condesending feeling about her attitude towards her position. You can wrap it u as her being intelligent and that she chooses one thing every world, but still something doesn't sit right with me. Not to mention the big things, sometimes even small things are interpreted as something out of proportion, which makes her "interesting". You can look it up how many times, especially male companions don't regard her as vicious or never letting go, even if they find she's playing in her own act and shceme, they will feel she's "interesting" or even "cute". Watch that shi, I bet you.
Relationships. We do it either my way or no other way. This novel has no CP, meaning no official ML that would follow behind FL in every world. Chu Xiang is not against relationships and from time to time she has a male companion in the arc. The only thing she refuses is to have children, because they're flesh and bond and leaving them is too sad. I mean, she will leave anyway, but all her partners have to accept that they might never become fathers, so yeah. Well, at least she's not a scumbag like other FLs I've read about where they have several relationships in a single arc and then break-up, treating old loves as shi. But still Chu Xiang is mainly in this uneven relationsip with men and I kind of feel sorry for those men too, because they basically become her pendants and licking dogs, so they move in the direction she dictates more than hand-in-hand with her. Don't know, but maybe it's better to be in a rigid NO relationship plot instead then.
And that's it. You see, as a result I have nothing remarkable to say, I haven't met something in it that would hook me up and make me say - I liked this or that part of the novel. But I have no such thing (;>.>)
It was a major turn-off after reading the ending of the 1st world. I get it, I understand the MC has no fixed male lead in every world, but I just can't just stand how she treated the male lead in the first world.
Since she has no love for him, why marry him? Just because she was moved by how he persisted in pursuing her for fifteen years and did not give up on her? It's not even romantic at all and it feels like a rich woman who gives alms to a beggar. And what's even the saddest part of the story is that the 1st male lead was already satisfied and happy to receive a scrap of time from her (yeah, literally scrap since the MC spend like 24/7 day on her work).
Now, now, although I'm sad to see him like a beggar begging for alms but doesn't mean I can't see that he also has his own fault. The moment she rejects him many times, he should have snapped back to his senses and learned to let go.
There are so many fishes in the sea and I do not believe that he can't find Ms. Right for him.
And yes, I do agree with some people here who said that this story is better off without having a romance.
i hate how every novel, the poor always paint as greedy, ungrateful person.
