I'm writing a review because I almost didn't read this novel after reading F.A.M.H's review about the ML.

I disagree completely. The ML is very clever, but he's working with a lot of limitations and shackles, with almost zero support and no-one capable around him that he can trust, so if he wasn't at least a little bit calculating, he'd be dead. Literally.

Also, most of the ML's 'schemes' and I use that term lightly, brings benefits to a lot of people who actually need the help and support. He's not scheming... more>> to take things away from people, he's acting in a way that benefits everyone around him (at least the nice people who deserve it).

If you want a lovebrain ML who is honest, good, righteous, sweet and morally superior... go away. This ML has a fully working brain, is half-way honest, good to you if you're good to him, loyal if you deserve it, very sweet to his own people (not the entire world), playful, capable, and such a green flag he might as well wave in the wind as an example to others.

The MC is so, so good. Ridiculously endearing. She's grounded and realistic. Petty when people harm her loved ones, smart, loving, very lively, and even though she has a 'golden finger' she never overuses it to get ahead in life.

I really enjoy the way the MC and ML are when they're together. They're very fun to read about, and the progression of their relationship is lovely and satisfying (and sometimes very funny).

I also really enjoy the fact that they have a family that love them. The MC's mother, father and brother love her to pieces, and the ML's grandmother loves him so much. There's no 'fighting against the evil in-law's to get married' just sweet support and an encouraging older generation. <<less

... Didn't like the ML. Too scheming, too proud of himself, look down on others too much, exploitative in a round way that make others think that he's too kind and it's all for them.

The FL has some treat as him, but still better. At least she won't be a wolf in a sheep clothis, when she want to do something she will tell the other that she is taking advantege of him openly. At least the other know what is going on.

Not like with the ML. He played everyone... more>> on his fingers as he like, sold others while they don't know and still has to happyly help him count the money he gaine from solding them.

But that was all fine until the FL start to be s*upid and played fool by the ML, and she the "smart" FL we once had, had gone with the wind. She become too s*upid and everything the ML do to her even if she didn't like it she will take it with smile, she will happyly let the ML control her and her and her family' lifes, and let him led her by the nose.

I don't really know how many times I thought about dropping this becouse of this. Espicialy that even the FL that I liked at the beginning I start to dislik for her stupdnees.

... But, fairness, this novel other than that was really okay and even good.

I really liked the FL smartness at the begninning, liked her funny thoughts about her family "company", liked her way in making money.

All was good, but the ML was too bad for me, becouse I don't like people like this so I can't cheer for him as ML, nor I could stand how he was playing the FL s*upid while she still think she's smart enugh to not fall in any of his schemes, but she was playing by the nose and give in for him over and over again.

Give it 3 stars for all the other things I liked. And dropping 2 stars beouase the bad ML that I didn't like 😌 <<less

This is period period romance story ultimately with family relationships. Yes there are slice of life scenes. But focus is more on people interactions and period specific actions taken by MC and ML. Which makes things interesting.

Although fiction, the way the author wrote the story made it feel more accurate. There was more depth to the characters and the story itself. While the MC never lost in any issue and ultimately easily resolved things, it didn't feel too out of hand or Mary Sue-esque. MC is witty and smart, and... more>> ML even more so. The couple dynamic is one of bickering love. Both MC and ML are quite smart. ML is very ambitious and savvy - he's good with people, good at broader thinking, and good at keeping himself informed. He's also a hard worker - we can see that with how he continues to study - there's a scene where MC sees that he's still brushing up on calculus questions. MC gives vibes that she's more people smart (I think at one point we learn that in her previous life she wasn't good at math? And barely passed liberal arts?? Not sure how that works with her getting into college as number one). But that doesn't put down her intelligence. She's good with words, knows what to say and what to do, and quite sly at manipulation. She easily convinces (aka brainwash and manipulates lmao) people. They both work well together.

No character is perfect in this story. But no character is evil. Just some more dislikable than others. And the annoying ones get their satisfying ends (satisfying for the reader). The family relationships and backstory are not simple either. Honestly I felt terrible for the MC's mother and both fathers. The ultimate ending was as good as it would get. Most of the day to day childcare was in the extras. And the children are honestly so funny. Especially the son. I found this novel due to the "magical space" tag. And yes it's important because it's her source of moneymaking but it's not as present as I thought it would be. Other than being a convenience thing at the first part of the story. And occasionally get a sentence throughout the story, it's not too big of a thing as I thought it would be. <<less

A fun read! I love this fox couple. They understand each other so well and their characters are not one dimensional— they actually feel like real people not cliques of a troupe.

I needed to write a review to defend them. I almost didn’t read the book because of F.A.M.H ‘s post. I’ll try to make my review sweet and short.

ML is a total GREEN flag and fell in love with FL for her character. Both of them adjust their own lives for the other but remain dedicated to their own... more>> goals. Yes they scheme but only when their lives or families/friends are being used or treated unjustly. ML is lowkey a sweet guy, he helps those around him. FL is not s*upid. She had her own goals at the start of the book which she still pursuing. And she does not let anyone walk all over her! If she gives in to MLs tricks then it’s only because she also wants the same outcome.

ML and FL understand each other so well and read each other like a book. They both play tricks or try to up one another. They compete with each other — Don’t think FL is fooled by ML —- FL will laugh in your face if she ever heard you say that lol

I won’t say anymore because it’s best to just jump into the story. Just try it out, it’s fun! <<less
