Cultivation Maniac Nan Yuan tamed a divine beast, assisting her in traversing through three thousand worlds to collect the power of faith. Nan Yuan, who used to only kill and not save, turned over a new leaf and became a good person.Unfortunately, being a good person is not easy. The strange child she raised as a son transformed into a powerful figure in the Demon Realm, crazily wanting to keep her captive? The husband, who used to fear women and had a late-stage fear-of-women disorder, suddenly stopped fearing and not closing himself off, going madly insisting on having children with her?Even picking up a dead object at random could turn into a handsome man lying in bed, earnestly seeking responsibility with a gloomy attitude?Later, Nan Yuan didn’t want to raise anything anymore, focusing solely on battling with the male lead. As a result, he, too, went crazy. Nan Yuan said, expressionless, “Big shot, your aura is so familiar that it’s annoying.” The big shot unperturbed, “My world is yours. You are mine.”

The writing isn't consistent.

(Main point I hated: The MC goes through a sudden character change, from a bigshot into a weak and helpless character.

I liked how she was able to control her fate and choose decisions, as she should with her character design, but when she lost that, I lost interest, it's so annoying)

  1. The MC is portrayed as a bigshot, coming from the god realm and into the 3000 planes, to collect faith. She needs it to increase her cultivation.
  2. The first few worlds are consistent, she's great, everything in control, exactly what you'd expect from her character design.
  3. A good novel makes sure the character design stays consistent cause that's what hooks the readers, however this novel wanted to be unique. (I'm not sure about other novels, but the thousands I read stays consistent, in every genre I read. The author doesn't change character design. They have personality developments here and there but the character stays the same, as well as there standing and position (like if they're op they're op, hardworking, getting stronger in the dark etc.))
  4. MC isn't heartless but she finds it hard to feel feelings, and only cares about those she focus her attention on. (This is due to her environment and inherent face paralysis)
  5. The novel is actually good, if you want a qt novel with op characters. But character personalities are *** not good but not bad, there was a bunch of times I screamed that the ML is an ***.
  6. Anyway, I liked the first few arcs, but the character change (honestly feels like the author had a sudden inspiration and wanted to put a cringe let's die together and have an amnesia arc, honestly could have been really good, but it was so unatural and sudden it ruined the flow of the novel.) Ruined it for me. At least.

I was really excited when I realized this novel is a sequel of The Villain Blackened Again! That novel was one of my favorite yandere stories and I still think about it from time to time. Although the ML in The Big Shot has Gone Crazy Again isn't as dark as the ML in the prequel, he's still deliciously obsessed with our girl Nan Yuan.

What the author does right is have new main characters with different personalities than the first novel and have them be their own person instead of... more>> them becoming carbon copies of the original. It's super easy to fall back to what you're used to, but the author doesn't do that and she gets big props from me. I do love the original, but I've grown super fond of the characters here.

Nan Yuan is cold, rational, and blood thirsty. She's a bad ass queen who inherited her dad's power and ruthlessness and her mother's looks. She's proud of her strength and blood so often times the conflicts in the novel happen because she can't be bothered dealing with all the ants dancing around her.

Xiao Tang is the adorable baby of the group. He's impressionable and just as dumb as his father. I love his interactions with Nan Yuan! He brings out a more softer side to her.
Spoiler

In one of the worlds, Nan Yuan was fighting against a group of men and Xiao Tang pops a strengthening pill into her mouth which allowed the body she's in to break bones and throw the men over her shoulder like tr*sh.

Nan Yuan: "Xiao Tang, warn me next time you do that."

Xiao Tang, the best little protector in history was unrepentant: "I saw the situation was urgent. I would rather you maim outsiders than get yourself hurt!"

Nan Yuan:...I can't bear to scold him harshly.

[collapse]

Finally there's the ML. He's obsessed with Nan Yuan and toes the line of being a full fledged yandere. He gets jealous of other men around Nan Yuan, but unlike the ML in the prequel, he's fine interacting with other people Nan Yuan is close with.
Spoiler

In the first world, he went through great lengths to keep Nan Yuan's head maid alive so when Nan Yuan comes back she'll feel more at home. He also let Xiao Tang ride on his spider form so he can cheer up. In the sixth world, he would often take Xiao Tang out to play so Nan Yuan can focus on her training.

[collapse]

Some people might be put off by him because he often pushes her boundaries for skinship and tries to baby trap her, but he would never try to hurt her (not like he can) or do something she won't like. The worst of it is in the third world in my opinion.

Anyway, I'm writing this review now instead of after finishing the novel so I can give others a different take on it. Personality wise, I feel that the characters are consistent and are developing organically.
Spoiler

Nan Yuan is slowly opening up more. Xiao Tang is getting more pe*verted from reading his father's notes. The ML is hard to say because he doesn't retain the memories of his previous lives. But if I had to say something, it'd be he's gaining more confidence as Nan Yuan's lover.

[collapse]

I can get why the other reviewer doesn't like this novel if they only want an OP female MC. In my opinion, the amnesia arc, the sixth world, was needed so Nan Yuan can realize her feelings for the ML. The previous world also foreshadowed this was going to happen in a lot of ways.
Spoiler

One of the people she met in the fifth world was an emotionless killer who later gets amnesia and falls in love. When she sees him later in the story, she's suprised by the vitality in his eyes and how he can express his joy. Nan Yuan acknowledges that she's just as emotionless as him, so that makes her wonder if maybe she should get amnesia too. But then she dismisses it because why would she ever do that to herself?

Then a reason finally comes: when the ML is dying of old age, he confides to her one of his biggest insecurities. He's always questioned whether Nan Yuan really loves him because he would give her all the love he can offer but she was still calm and indifferent. Nan Yuan does care about him, otherwise why would she bother to stick with him in that world and the previous ones, but she admits she probably can't give him the love he seeks because of the long life she's lived. A classic case of "you were a wonderful experience/ you were everything".

Nan Yuan then decides to cast a spell on herself to block her memories when she goes to the next world.

[collapse]

Even without her memories, she's still a bad ass queen in the amnesia arc.
Spoiler

In the next world, she wakes up only knowing her name and the memories of the body she's inhabiting. She gets falsely accused of colluding with a demon cultivator and attacking a fellow sect member. Instead of crying and begging for someone to believe her, she endures 80 goddamn lashes and then clears her name by casting a spell to project the memories of her soul which comes at the cost of her cultivation. Then, to the horror of everyone present in her trial, she digs out her golden elixir and crushes it. Her reasoning? If her cultivation and elixir are gonna be destroyed anyway, she'd rather do it on her terms. She then takes off her sect clothes and gives back all the things they have given her, decisively ending her relationship with her sect. She walks out of the sect, back straight and covered in wounds, but full of dignity. She doesn't know who she is. Doesn't remember her training or experiences. But that doesn't mean she'll allow anyone to trample on her.

[collapse]

Anyway, I hope people can see this review and give this novel a shot. I love the prequel, and after finishing a quarter of this novel I already know I'm gonna love this one. <<less
