Passerby Male Protagonist

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Shao Fei is a passerby. He doesn’t even have as many scenes as a cannon fodder, he has the conscientiousness to remain as passerby A.

Looking forward to doing assists and watching the development of the male and female protagonist. However this wish cannot be realized, as he watched the plot collapse until even its mother couldn’t recognise it.

Shao Fei: “Do you think the way the male lead looks at me is not quite right?”

System: “…” You found out now!?

There was a stalk of grass in his heart. It didn’t belong to him, but it always swayed in front of him. Finally, it stayed in front of him silently.

“A passer-by who thinks he is as ordinary as A,B,C” shou X “a man who never thought he would fall in love with a male” gong.

Yandere alert!

I mtled this and let me say I almost pity how hard the male lead tries to hide his feelings for the MC. In his plans he slowly makes the MC fall for him like slow boiling a frog in warm water.

Unfortunately some way or another things get out of his control and MC gets a full view of his obsession.

... more>> The reason the MC leaves each world I thought was hilarious 😂 poor ML he acts tough but he’s actually super nervous and inexperienced.

So this isn't a novel about a healthy relationship but I thought there were thrilling points where I wished the MC could see through the ML and other points where I wanted the MC to love the ML back.

But I just like this sort of guilty pleasure. <<less

Low-key messed up. Mol*station spoilers warning.
Spoiler

In chapter 33, the ML purposely hides his identity and mol*sts MC by MC's home. MC is absolutely terrified; crying, and fighting back. The ML does not stop despite MC's obvious fear, and continues to bite and vent his anger on MC. Later in the chapter, MC feels that ML is not as bad anymore for previously forcibly kissing him in comparison to the "anonymous " mol*ster. ML calls him right after the incident and "comforts" him. In the text, ML details how MC will be vulnerable after being mol*sted and how he can make MC depend on him. I know all is fair in love and war but this is kind of fked up. Is it love if you hurt that person so you can try to possess them? I'm not sure but it is kind of messed up to harm someone you "love" on purpose to achieve your goals despite their hurt state.

[collapse]
This is certainly a yandere ML; possessive and obsessive. Manipulative enough to give you trust issues.

The characters feel kind of flat so far. ML characteristics are just obsessive and manipulative. He pushes hard at MC and feels strong attraction to this person who holds strong fear of him. Gives me the vibes of "Oh, she doesn't like me? I must get her." MC is in constant fear of ML and trying to be just a passerby lmao. He knows ML is a manipulative person but he falls for his tricks anyway. ML prevents him from getting close to other people so MC doesn't have a support system to tell him ML is being emotionally manipulative and controlling. It can be hard to notice how bad a relationship is without a 3rd person perspective.

Characters are super flat. MC is infuriating - there's being a passerby and there's being a wilting white lotus. He has no characteristics whatsoever besides being a pushover. ML is only obsessive and entitled and ends up sexually assaulting the MC under the guise of "being unable to control himself anymore." Absolutely no chemistry other than the ML's flat, unexplainable obsession. They are an absurdly poorly matched pair - certainly never make the mistake of thinking they're equals or even both humans. If you're going to do this trope, at... more>> least do it with a little more authenticity. This kind of depiction falls flat on all levels and goes so far as to evoke strong disgust in readers. Look at me writing this review.

The original FL of the "novel" has the most realistic character depth of anyone so far (that is to say, a piece of cardboard instead of paper.) Would actively discourage spending any time at all on this farce of a novel.

One extra star for translator's efforts in what is a truly baffling endeavor to translate this kind of writing. <<less

This is 1v1

Ch 1-42 : Arc 1. MC is Ml's new step brother. Genre : highschool modern world

Poor ML. He looks confident but he is actually really nervous 😂. When MC accidently discover his crazy obsessive personality, it blow his mind.
Spoiler

But deep down, MC realize that he didn't feel disgusted when ML kissed and hug him. But ML really has bad luck. When MC want to say it, the world kick his soul out 🤣

[collapse]

Ch 43-82

Old men with broken cultivation (mc) x no 1 cultivator in immortal world (ml)

I laugh so hard when I realize that MC is an old men 😂. ML can use a cultivation manual to turn his face into other people when he need to speed up his healing, and you can already imagine how prvert he is, and how much of a dark history he can create and try to hide from MC 😂. I laugh at the beginning of this chapter, crued at the middle, and smile at the end. I probably love this arc more than the 1st arc

Why this novel only has 3 arcs is a wonder for me. I hope 3rd arc will be better

[EDIT]

Arc 3 is so sweet!

After arc 3, they went back to MC (shou) original world

The problem of this kind of world hopping novel genre is, sometimes the author can't create a satisfying ending. But this one is actually pretty good

It's not bad and it's entertaining but the personality of the MC is a huge turn-off. He has the mentality of a toddler. There isn’t one thought process in that little head of his. He talks about how he's going to live a different life compared to the og but legit will do anything the people around him tell him to do (Doesn’t always succeed tho). He has no backbone whatsoever and even though he knows he doesn’t have to act exactly like the og he follows everything to... more>> a T. Also the ML interest in him is so weird. He's into the fact that MC is openly scared and submissive to him? I understand that the MC lost all his memories and was in a coma before being assigned this task but it sucks and feels like an excuse to not give him a personality. I'm not going to rate it too low because I assume he's going to grow as a person later on. <<less

I don't think ML is a masochist but MC definitely is. Why does he have to torture himself and ML. In the second world, he definitely knows ML loves him but he denies vehemently and find ridiculous excuses. Can't he just accept it. If you can't accept for a few times, it is normal. But after so many times seeing everything clearly, why does he have to think it's just ML is just confused and doesn't like him. I think he is a big masochist and the coldest person in... more>> the whole novel. Not deserved to be called kind at all. I think even if you give 1 star rating to this novel, it is justified because of the disgusting MC. <<less

Never would've thought I would finish this book LMAO. At first I just want to clear out my read list, but the story is interesting enough for me to finish it. So here is my thought for each arc:

Arc 1

A school arc. The beginning is decent. A bit turned off by the cliche "the ML is the perfect male god type, while MC is just an ordinary guy." Love the thrill when ML doing his creepy a*s manipulation. Could've fleshed out a bit with what the hell is going on... more>> in the background. The last half is a bit dragged tho and...
Spoiler

I f*ckin laughed when ML didn't get what he wants LMAO, GET F*CKED.

[collapse]

Arc 2

Wow, the only time I love a cultivation arc, a clap for the author from me. Usually, cultivation stories are just palace intrigue but with more spice. But here, there's actually an adventure genre? and a plot twist at the start? LOVE IT. A tad bit too short tho. Could've made it the majority of the plot. but sigh... It goes back to the usual cultivation drama. And the dragging in here was way TOO long, idk why the author thinks it's a good idea to explain some worthless train of thought and useless world-building when we are at the end of the story : (
Spoiler

Look at me in the eyes and tell me you enjoy of MC seeing ML torturing his enemies and punishing his love rival when it's going on for almost 10 chapters

[collapse]

Arc 3

Have no further complaints with this arc except, if other arcs are dragging, then this arc is too short. This is an entertainment arc, so doesn't it be a bit abrupt if
Spoiler

it stops before MC can even shake off his 18th-line artist stigma??

[collapse]
I like MC's professional/industry elites friend here, you gonna be formal and stuff, but inside his head are actually a bunch of memes and 101 complaints for his works LMAO.

Arc 4

Real-world. Has the right pace compared to the rest of the arcs.
Spoiler

Could've ended when their parents find out about their relationship though lol

[collapse]

Characters:

Shao Fei (MC)

Not too annoying for an inferior complex, shy, and low-eq MC. He's actually quite sharp with others feeling, but ML passed the radar because his motives are never meant to harm the MC. Loves his long-lasting suspicion, and he is smart too, but y'know how in this type of novel, MCs were never allowed to surpass ML's ability. Be it family status, wealth, brain, talent, popularity, you name it.
Spoiler

He were in coma because of a car accident, ML makes a deal with the system to lure his soul into his world.

[collapse]

His hesitation is quite in line with his personality except when in arc 2 where it's just ridiculous and it was apparent that author just wanna drag it longer than it should be.
Spoiler

btw in this novel, MC will go to the next world when he reaches an "ending" OR ML got too "excited" that his mental power just kick MC out of the mortal realm lol. AKA, the blue balled are quite annoying here for a heads up.

[collapse]

Lu Chen (ML)

Typical male god ML. Manipulative b*tch. Still are even till the end, but at least he ain't making MC a useless good-for-nothing who could only depend on him anymore.
Spoiler

Not a main god or all those jazz, just a sentient book character

[collapse]

...

The stories are true to their words. None of those usual "OG MCs are actually villains". The MCs even become besties with our MC, but of course, b*tch *ss ML gonna separate them as always. The OG MCs are QUEENS tbh. Love them very much, I'll gladly read their stories. Arc 1 indomitable FL, arc 2 carefree but can instantly kill you without you knowing FL, arc 3 sweetheart FL.
Spoiler

It actually implied that the MCs are based on our MC's real sister. Because, well, the sister is actually the author of these cliffhanger novels LMAO. Anyway I always love their dynamic no matter which world.

[collapse]

Rather than the d*ck head ML, I actually prefer those second MLs who got a crush on MC. But god forbid a lower-in-status MLs smh
Spoiler

Gamer ML? Disciple ML? Average businessman ML? in a quick transmigration? HERESY

[collapse]
Because they actually accept MC as it is at the beginning and never expect anything from him, just giving goodwill with no expectation.

In conclusion, I'll never read this again, but it has been a good ride. The not explicit but enough for imagination smuts are also a ++ (they don't say that ML's is d*cking MC, but the description is quite vivid for a CN novel. Not just a particularly hot make-out session too, it's actually smex. How can it even pass the censorship? idk lol). The author just gotta understand more about their frequent dragging and abrupt ends.

Overall, a 4 stars <<less

MTLd to the end. Weird fluff with dubcon vibes. The characters have more depth than QT protags but less than normal transmigration MCs & MLs. The plots of the three arcs are filled with cliches - but of the fanservice type. As long as you know what you're getting into, it will be a very enjoyable read. I found the creepy dissonance between Shao Fei & Lu Chen (I) and Lu Yuan (II) 's perspectives especially well-written.

4.5/5 because it delivered exactly what it promised: male yandere, manipulative characters, doting &... more>> devoted love interests. <<less

After reading all the negative comments I concluded that this was just a dark romance and people might be over reacting but I AM SORRY TO EVERY PERSON I'VE MISJUDGED HERE !!!!

they all are completely correct I couldn't bear it at all I tried justifying the ML's behaviour but I reached my limit on Chapter - 35

I literally cant even explain what I felt on that moment! !!

... more>> Let me tell you even if some of you like yandere and other related stuff you will come to hate this one....

The translators did an awesome job translating it but I feel they just wasted their time on this one and its just not worth their time.... <<less

I don't want to rate it since I stopped at ch 33. I can't continue this any further. The ML is SUPER manipulative.

Spoiler

He has been controlling the MC through fear since the beginning. I could tolerate this much since there are some MLs that are slightly manipulative. But this ML just crossed all limits when he assaulted the MC by biting (while disguising himself) and scared the MC into having a trauma. He then went on to console the MC over phone and tried to make the MC depend on him while he was vulnerable from the trauma. I've read a similar situation in another novel before but in that one, the MC was fully aware that it was the ML doing these things and he could take steps to stop the ML if he wanted. While the ML of that novel was also wrong, at least the MC wasn't traumatized. This MC however, almost begs to the perpetrator to stop and is genuinely terrified. He even feels the ML's questionable behavior wasn't as bad as the crminal and feels guilty for alienating the ML before. So much toxicity!

The beginning was not eye catching at all. I nearly dropped the novel, but when the ML begin to develope curiousity and interest in the MC I got really into it. After the first arc ended, I dropped the novel.

The MC and many other characters are flat and boring like NPCs. The only one who appealed to me was the ML because he was a chaotic mess, and that may be why many scenes with him were amusing. Outside of the trigger warning for S-assault, he has the most fluctuation... more>> in personality compared to everyone. I'm surprised he's not the MC instead.

I understand that the MC is a passerby and that's why he tries to be hidden, but this story failed him. Not only is he part of the group of characters "s/he don't move the plot, the plot moves him/her", we are also constantly reminded of how unimportant he is supposed to be. His discription doesn't need to be brought up over and over again. Show us he is unimportant by making him miss out on special scenes or something, and show us how he is an anomaly, or use the ML to bring out why he is an exception.

Spoiler

Like the example in chapter 3 where the ML only took notice of him because he willingly walked all the way home like the ML ordered. Another example is in chapter 4 or 5, when the ML prank called the MC and the MC started chanting Buddhist sutra into the phone.

[collapse]

Constantly throwing out that he is a passerby or having other characters literally say they don't care to look at him is such a lazy way to increase word count.

Imagine reading a novel and the novel is always saying "... because he is a boring", "as a boring person...", "a boring person like him...", "since he is a boring person...", "being a boring person...", "boring person XYZ", and so forth, it will feel like it's over highlighting. There needs to be a balance between describing, showing, and telling.

Anyway...

For now, I decided to drop the novel. If I feel like giving it a shot again, I will come back and read the second arc all the way to the ending. <<less

Rating: 4.6/5

The overall plot is good, not outstanding but not bad either. While the novel employs commonly used tropes it doesn't get boring. And the usage of common tropes is excusable by the plain fact that it's a book transmigration novel so cliches are bound to be used.

For me, the pacing was just right. For the first arc you might think that everything is happening too fast. But in my opinion, that's exactly why the pacing is just right since the premise is that it's a campus love story written... more>> by a teenager so ultra fast pacing is basically a given feature. In the later arcs the pacing adapted to each book's genre and even the real life arc had a somewhat slice of life pace.

I liked how the author still managed to highlight some events that could draw the reader in and make them sympathize with the characters, be it the ending of the first arc, the yearning period of the second arc or the short snippets of the drama plot the MC filmed.

As for plot holes, I didn't notice any. In fact, I feel like everything was wrapped up pretty nicely.

The main reason why I did not give a full star rating is the dubious consent in the first arc if you can even call it that. The ML schemed and manipulated the MC to rely on him after a traumatic event when he was the source of the trauma to begin with. His scheming nature doesn't let up even in later arcs, but he is less impulsive and aggressive towards the MC so that's an improvement.

As for the MC, he is not s*upid and could be considered pretty smart sometimes as he figures out all of the ML's schemes at some point. However, his EQ is limited by his trust in the book plot. So he dismisses the ML's obvious attraction towards him just because the ML is supposed to be straight in the book. He does the same in all arcs and doesn't learn from these past experiences. But then again, his memory and emotions are cleared after each arc so that's probably the reason for his repeated mistakes. At least he does see some character development so his character isn't stagnant.

Given how dubious the CP started out in the first arc, it was a pleasant surprise to see their relationship progress being sweeter and more reasonable in the later arcs. So if the first arc scared to off, I hope you read on and give the novel a chance to redeem itself. <<less

Oh wow is that ML manipulative. Not just against the MC, but against everyone.

it was fun for me to read how MC is so cautious of him and how he really knew how manipulative the ML was and so really does not trust him at all.

the first arc just finished, and im satisfied with that end, it was clear that the ML might know the real identity of MC that's why there was special treatment (i mean that ML's soul knows MC's soul, MC has amnesia)

I don't dare tried to give stars yet. But so far the story of the 1st arc was to my liking. I just wondering when and how the 1st arc would end. It's still not end yet...

MC was trying so hard to be Low-key. He would have suceed if not for the fact ML was so cautious with everything and borderline Stalker. Lol.

But also because MC is a Hardwork and ML see that, and MC also has clear Moral, he doesn't simply see the world as Black and White, ML... more>> like him more and more. So yeah, so far, the 1arc was to my Liking.

Waiting for the Translation to continue 🙏 <<less
