The beginning was kinda squick for me but once you read further on and learn about their backstories (especially the priest's), that's when the story gets a lot better.

ML was a veteran soldier who has demonic features triggered after he tried to take himself out with the demons after hearing everyone he knew died in a demon attack while he was fighting, and him being a demon led to lots of abuse (tw) before ending up bought by MC. MC was raised with f*cked up beliefs and due to an accident ended up presumed dead and free from the institution he was raised in. He lives under a new identity and this is when he buys ML (presumed a demon at the time) on a whim. First half: MC discovers ML is basically a human just with a few physical demon features, changes the way he treats ML, they end up together. Second half: ML hears more about MC's f*cked-up past (which explain MC's strange actions) and MC unlearns cult-ish beliefs (as another reviewer puts it)

I saw a review saying they stopped reading after one of the bad endings, but I don't think they knew it wasn't the main plot. The BE's are very angsty and not everyone's cup of tea, but they are easy to skip since the author always puts the BE's before continuing with the main plot/correct choice, which I appreciate.

Things I liked:

MC's past is revealed bit by bit as we go, story has a lot of re-read value. The world-building is also really extensive (and quite dark but it makes sense). There's a huge world out there that hasn't been expanded on since the narration is limited to MC's pov (occasionally ML).

MC can be bizarre because of his past... there's moments where I was more in line with ML even though it's from MC's POV

Things I disliked:

MC's treatment of ML in the beginning was pretty turn off for me. But there wasn't as much worldbuilding done back then, things like attitudes towards demons as a result of the war against hell and progoganda of exisiting institutions hadn't really sunk in, so I think it's unfair for me to judge MC's actions based on standards from our world and not their world. Several times I almost stopped reading but I'm glad I didn't since it just got better and better.

I think if you want to see if you like the novel, read until the MC's backstory starts dropping at the very least. Overall even though the beginning was disturbing I absolutely love MC's character development. <<less

This book is literally amazing. The original story, like what actually happens is actually really cute and romantic. I didn't find the 2nd person POV a big deal either. It deserves more than five stars because it actually made me feel emotions.

This story is written like an otome game (if that’s the right term)

There are scenarios where you’ll be given choices. For example

Choose A or B

... more>> — A: You’ll walk away (skip this chapter and go to chapter x)

— B: You’ll not walk away (continue this chapter)

It’s very interesting!

But I just couldn’t feel the story much because it’s written in the 2nd POV. I prefer if it’s written in the 3rd POV

I know it’s written like an otome game so it’s in the 2nd POV and so that the readers are like the priest but I’m really just not used to it

I tried to perserve more but can’t get past this issue so I’m stopping here at chapter 30

I won’t be rating this novel as well because I think I’ll be biased just cause I’m not used to how it’s written <<less

When the chapter with he cleaning him came and priest actually removed 5 caps I was shocked. Like I've read lot of bad things but still it gave me chills. Demon or not that was really horrible.

What I liked about the novel is that author gave us scenarios of every input and output. A ending for each scenarios.

The believer, rule follower priest Enoch and Lemuel, a carefree, who wants to enjoy his life without any rules /regrets/repent ML. Author so beautifully described their situation, conflict, the chains that are restraining them. Rules are needed sure they are because some people do need them but not everyone. Yes we do need rules but not everyone needs to be abide by them.

I've always like stories that can make me question., So I definitely recommend this one. But please don't enter this world if you're gonna read with one track mind. You need to be open minded. Don't be a believer don't be a carefree dreamer just be a Reader.! <<less

This is such a beautifully written novel. The translator did a fantastic job. A out of this world job. Please be warn there is SA in this novel. Heavily in the earlier chapters and mentions of it throughout the whole novel. If this is something you can stomach, please read this novel. You will not regret it.

I do wanna mention this is kinda like a choose your own adventure type of novel so there is multiple “endings”. This confused me at first. But the first couple of chapters are bad... more>> endings (BE). Please do not let this deter you, the main couple relationship development was phenomenal. Our MC has religious trauma and our ML has trauma in general. The process of them healing and finding love was so heartwarming witness. <<less

I absolutely loved reading this novel and the plot is pure gold.
Warning that this plot is not a teddy bear filled to the brim with fluff. It does have dark moments and serious undertones (alongside some lighthearted moments).
If you are looking for a novel with character and plot development /not just fluff/ then I highly recommend this novel. (General reminder to ourselves that growth comes from hardship and change.)

Writing is great and the plot is interesting. You dont really see alot of these kinds of novels so it was a really good read. Overall its pretty good, I dont see anything that deserves a 1 star, you really can't trust the rating.

i love love love this novel! It's organic, visceral, and the emotions take you for a ride. The MC and ml's love shine so bright and the writing and translation is immaculate. Pls give this a chance! One of the reviews have detailed the true ending and you can just read the chapters in that order to avoid too much gore if you're not into that stuff but pls still be mindful of the tags!

The low rating is really undeserved for this novel, even though it's not perfect but it is not nearly as bad as to deserve 1 star rating. Some people just read 1 or 2 chapters and decided to give low rating and ranted about it, which is really unfair. Yes, there are r*pes, gore, violence, non-cons at the beginning, but the novel is actually pretty sweet and beautiful. Two people who are supposed to be opposite of each other, a priest and a half-demon, met in a twist of fate... more>> and slowly drawn to each other.

The story is told in the second-person point of view, which is quite interesting, and there are some alternative plots that you can choose, just like playing an RPG. But there is only one main story and one main ending. I have to agree that the ending is somewhat rather weak, but nevertheless I enjoy reading it, which is quite different from other danmei that I have read before.

Don't trust the rating, just give this story a chance and see it for yourself. Big thanks to the translator for the amazing translation! <<less

Wow, idk wat to say honestly. I'm just amazed that I actually completed reading this and didn't drop it after reading one chapter 😂 it was weird but I just couldn't stop and wanted to get to the end.

And I'm glad I read till the end. I was gonna rate it 3 stars but when I reached the ending, I felt like it deserved 4 stars. There r many weird things about the story for me personally and maybe if it was... more>> some other time I would never actually read something like this but whatever, I read it. The start was bumpy and weird but as the story progressed I feel that it started being more nice. I liked the ending chapters and it was cute. <<less

it was a very interesting Choose your adventure story it doesn't branch off like most and have more diverse endings then the usual one cause it's just short. but it makes you think a lot Although the beginning is really horrible, more of a horror story. I really couldn't think of a happy ending in the beginning I suggest for you to skip chapters for the choice you didnt chose unless it was bad ending you should continue until you find a good ending. I wouldn't blame the main Character... more>> too much He's not like other gongs who purposely torture their partnering because there's Psycho, and takes pleasure in it He just generally doesn't know what he's doing wrong he's just really naive. overall I liked it It's more of a dark intrigue story and the happy ending makes me satisfied.

just for the character lumere overall I'm surprised he could still survive after his sister is dead and they never really went into specific details about that We just know that the whole town died... but I was kinda hoping they would adopt A little girl with brown hair and brown eyes by coincidence not planned because he looks like her sister and I would have been a more satisfying happy ending but not every couple needs children I just thought it would have been nice in this case.
