If you're looking for a happy ending, you're looking at the wrong novel.

I swear, you will get so pissed off. I'm surprised I even made it past the first half without quiting.

FL / ML - some details

Spoiler

Due to lack of communication and trust, the relationship is horrible.

FL felt the need to take all the torture and hate ML (her husband) have been throwing at her. He humiliates her and even suggested that she sell herself to get the money needed for her brother's surgery. The weird thing is that after she 'dies' we don't her what happened to the bro or the step mom who gambles most of the money she had been sending them for the bro's treatment.

ML thinks she's betrayed him because her hymen broke so he thinks she's not a virg*n. I MTL so I'm not too clear about this part or it wasn't really explained. However, it seem like she never betrayed him. Which was explained in the scene when his grandpa wakes up from his coma. He's a selfish mofo who is a pathetic excuse of a person.

I would have to say that the story focuses more on him than her

Things that happen - Vaguely out of order by a margin

Spoiler

- FL just keep taking sh*t from bastard ML

- ML has non-consensual s*x with her and basically forces himself on her all the damn time.

- FL encounter MLs lover JiaoJiao and basically interrupts them at his office, since she's his secretary.

- ML kinda pimps FL out before going to this club for a 'business meeting's and implied that the other man can have her cause she's a 'sl#+' in his eyes. She begs him to save her. He continues to verbally humiliate her but ultimately takes her out of the situation before anything happens.

- find out bros health is declining and needs money, cause the money she sends is used to gamble by step mom.

- FL begs ML for money, but he tell her to sell herself if she's that desperate and he will not help. He reveals that he had a hand in the down fall of her father/father's company that ultimately led to his death.

- she goes to that club, where they had that meeting and she sold herself to some guy name president Du, I think. Later on u find out that she actually just slept with ML cause he stopped Du and kicked him out. She doesn't know so she feels filthy.

- FL gets a text from JiaoJiao sayings she's prego w/ mls kid. And commits su*cide.

- FL is pronounced dead and ML loses his sh** cause he sees her dead body and says he's always loved her... even tho he's been making her life hell. He also finds out that she basically had stomach cancer.

- Yu lan the friend of Ml, tries to get him to stop is and tries to distracted him. Which leads him on find that JJ sent the text message to Fl. He basically blames her for Fls death. Turns out the baby is not his and her forced her to abort the child. Forces JJ to do stuff, gave her plastic surgery to look like FL (very important later) and makes her life hell. JJ eventually jumps off a building, survives and is sent to a mental institution.

- Grandpa wakes up from coma and tells ML what happened during the car accident and how FL saved him/GP and has been loyal to ML the whole time so his reason for hating her is basically his own doing for not trusting and listening to her. (Yeah face slap your guilty a** face again)

- Time skip occurs. The Doc who told them FL was dead but mysteriously disappeared is locked in California, with a wife and a daughter. Also Doc is definitely in love with FL and it should be mentioned that they knew each other from University or something school related.

- Yu Lan and ML finds FL, but she has selective amnesia and tries to jog her memory. (Seriously, let her be free from you a-hole). FL thinks she's married to Doc, cause he told her that when she woke from getting half her stomach removed due to the cancer.

- basically YL kidnaps the daughter Su to lure FL back to China.

- Ultimately she regains her memory and ML got Su to call him Dad. He also did a p-test in the US and found that Su is his daughter. He continues to try and force them together, which FL isn't keen on the idea.

- Fls cancer starts to act up and spread again due to lack of food and stress.

- Su is kidnapped by JJ who's face looks like her mom's.

- JJ makes an offer to release Su if ML jumps down a building. He doesn't jump off, since the deal got cut off. Well, he didn't plan to that anyways.

- In a showdown, JJ has a knife to Su's throat while talking to Ml. This scene ultimately leads to JJ's death when the police shoots her in the head, causing Su to faint. She wakes up 3 days later with a trauma where she's in a state of shock doesn't talk.

Not happy Ending

Spoiler

FL leaves China with her daughter and the Doc, because every thing bad that happened to them is related to Mls action.

Ultimately, FL dies from the cancer and ML fights for his rights to have Su and wins. Time jump shows that Su is now 20 and still hasn't spoken, since the event when she was 2/3 years old. ML ask Yu Lan to take care of her. On his death bed, Su says 'Dad', but it is suggested that he didn't hear that part.

[collapse]

Personal, I don't feel that ML is redeemable. He tries, but his methods are not great. He's done too much and cause so much pain. Yu Lan is a good friend.

There's some things left unexplained, which could allow the author to write another few spin off.

Spoiler

Like will Yu Lan and the Doc have a happy ending?
