“Hiroyuki, you have to get out of the house and live with your fiancée by next week, okay?”

That’s what my father suddenly said to me, Hiroyuki Higashi Kujo, a high school sophomore, on a Saturday morning.

I was confused then my father decided to describe her::

Good-looking,

Excellent grades,

Athletic,

And an ojou-sama…

The girl is filled with characteristics that even the heroines of light novels of today would not have, but even if you look at all of her virtues, there is still one drawback that outweighs the positives.

“Isn’t that Ayane Kiryu the “Villainess?!””

She has a sharp tongue and a vicious temper…

The thrilling daily life of living together with a fiancee who’s known as a “Villainess”, starts now!

Okay, so, authors who add a harem to their work simply so they can introduce drama are, to me, considered mediocre writers. You can do a lot with a harem without involving drama. Sure, said harem will be full of cliche driven nonsense, but that's what's great about them. You can just turn off your brain and enjoy. I don't get that feeling from this. I get a feeling of "MC doormat extraordinaire", and that pisses me off to no end. 1 star for this,

Translation is great, as expected... more>> from this group, however, I won't give extra stars for that, as no amount of perfect editing or translating can improve this novel. Well, seeing MC man up a bit "might" work in its favour, but, well, the sun rising in the west would be more likely. <<less

It's just bad. Like REALLY BAD. The author can't decide if weather he wants to focus on a single fMC or make it a harem. The protagonist is dense AF (surprise, surprise) but I've seen other desnse protagonist done a 100 times better.

Writing is all over the place, it feels like he wants to tells us too much using as few chapters as he can so the focus of the story fluctuates awkwardly.

Frankly that "villainess" is the only character I find likable. MC is a dense wannabe ayanokoji kiyotaka. Childhood friends are pushy annoying and unreasonable. That father is an absolute scum. Sister and the other childhood friend are okay (for now) as not much is known about them. As for the rest you probably don't care anyways

The only reason I read it this far is cause I like the settings and thought I should give it a chance but it was really just a waste of time <<less

well, it is quite interesting, in some way, both the MC and FMC are tsundere, and it was quite new to me, the plot is a little bit boring, but it was well written and the dramas are not beyond my endurance, too

I've read this up to the main story epilogue (c180) and about 25 of the extra afterstory chapters. For starters, this does not end in a harem, the MC does not do anything to lead them on (like going on dates or holding hands with them or headpatting or kissing or whatever, he only does it for Kiryu). The MC makes it clear to the other heroines that he's determined to be a good fiance to Kiryu Ayane, and later in the story that he loves Kiryu Ayane. He made... more>> an effort and showed his resolve to be officially accepted by both their fathers and the Higashikujo main family head, and they end up happily together.
Spoiler

After where the translation ends (still c43 as of 2024/01/24), this MC that is behaving like a leaf in the wind just passing through life finally gets back on track after Mizuho, one of his juniors in basketball suffered an injury to the leg which would cause her to take a break from basketball for at least 2 years after rehab, making her unable to play in all of the high school tournaments. Out of misery, Mizuho tries to remove basketball from her life, but the MC takes up basketball again, practices, and participates in a tournament to show her what she would miss, to motivate her. In doing so, the MC actually motivates himself too and starts doing his best to be a good fiance to Kiryu.

The only relevant drama in here is MC's cousin (who was acting as the proxy for the main family head) informing them of the possible dissolution of their engagement because the MC is not qualified to run the Kiryu family business. The previous character development from the basketball arc shows up here, he takes up the challenge and makes the cousin acknowledge him.

After this was a small farce by MC's and Kiryu's fathers dissolving their engagement, only to have MC formally ask Kiryu's father for her daughter.

It's not perfect, but it's a good read <<less

I don’t know how to feel About this novel.
Spoiler

What really pissed me off was the father. I’m aware I know nothing of the backstory but right now I hate his guts and the idiotic way the MC is protecting him. I get that he cares for his employees but he gave up his sons chance at happiness with a wife he loves? He’s a POS at least for now. The MC I don’t know how to feel about him either he seems like the typical protagonist, average looking average at everything type of protagonist, let’s the female lead and everyone else walk all over him. Also it’s most likely gonna be an annoying harem love triangle, with the fiancée realizing her feeling not admitting it and than getting jealous as the other girls get close To him. So far it’s 2 girls who are in love with him the 3rd is being hinted at and might’ve been his fiancée if his father didn’t sell him to the fML father.

[collapse]
Well I’ll see I’m hoping it’s more fluff than drama but something tells me it’s gonna be pointless drama. Don’t let my review discourage any new readers, it’s my opinion and I’m still early in and my opinion may change.

First, do not listen to the braindead top review that gave a 1 star, he's just a troll that lost some of his screws and apparently lost his brain in elementary 💀, second, I felt like I enjoyed it, maybe cause I have been interested in romance (anime, manga, manhwas, etc) although there are SOME harem aspects, it's not really what'd you would think since, well the story revolves around the MC and the FMC living together and being fiancees, and to most of yall out there, he isn't dense...... more>> He knows what Kiryu (FMC) meant, he's only clueless with his childhood friends, so do not misinterpret his thinking. Anyways, seems like any ordinary school life story, it is, and I also can't ensure you would enjoy it like I did, but I loved it, so try giving it a try and don't quit in the beginning 💀 that means you just have an attention span of an ant's life. <<less

For a light novel, the writing is actually quite competent. Make no mistakes the cliche s here, pseudo harem is here, Japanese fiction logic is here as well. With that said, it seems that characters are actually talking to each to other, or should I say "communicate" with each other. As dense as MC is, so far girls were actually willing to explain why they are upset at him (crazy, I know).

Things aren't over the top ridiculous, at least outside of the convention that kickstarts the story itself.

What is the problem, is that the author refuses to allow the story progresses as it would "realistically". This is the problem with every romantic novel, walking in circles to explore, prevent "crossing the lines" until utterly exhausting the reader. Granted, it hasn't happened quite yet, but signs are already present. Both main characters are already in love and are quite aware the other side is in love as well. They are also "engaged" and having children in the future is explicitly stated as a goal, so why not get on with it? With anything actually? As good as it is so far, it seems it will not escape the inherent mediocrity of eastern romantic novels, for the sake of wasting time.

Conversely, the "harem" girls are hinted to have proper reason for not being with MC. Details aren't yet revealed, but it is known, they have been romancing with each other at some point and it has gone terribly wrong. From how it is going, I would bet on them not being with one of the 2 harem girls, to not destroy friendship with the other one (since harem girls are also best friends, but seem to be jealous of MC, towards each other but not towards main heroine). On that note, they seem sad, and start stirring up drama with each other as they realise they are losing MC, but they don't bring it towards MC at all, nor his fiance. In the first place, they were probably aware MC will leave them at some point, probably married off to his cousin that is their friend as well (plans have obviously changed).

[collapse]

Good thing overall, but I fully expect it to follow established conventions, which will hold it back. At least it is done better than usual. <<less
