Dormouse, a petite and shy mammal, spends 3/4 of its life in sleep, and often starves to death because of lethargy and forgetting to eat.

The shy Dormouse wakes up and finds that he has entered a prison, or a deserted planet, a kind of planet that has undergone interstellar wars and has harsh living conditions and abandoned planets. A large number of prisoners of war and fugitives are exiled in it. This is a place of exile that people can’t avoid. , is also a barren land, and it is also a dark land.

Shu Shuishui carefully said to the claw: “Excuse me? Is there a place to sleep? I will exchange one, no, two hazelnuts for you!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gu Langu recently raised a pet mouse. The pet mouse is not sticky, but it is a bit sticky.
Shu Shuishui (*^-^*): “It’s a pity that such a beautiful hand doesn’t belong to me. Excuse me…can you rent this hand to me? I…I’ll pay for three hazelnuts!”
I swear this is one of rare kind of novel where you actually addicted with the MC stays in his animal form!!!
Like you may be wondering how the romance would start, but still... You can't help enjoying MC in his small dormouse form cooking, sewing, singing, hunting, taking care of ML and interact with everyone. Soooooooo FCKING CUTE!!! THE MOST ADORABLE EVER!!!
Everyone Admire/Adore MC in the most reasonable way ever and im not just talking about him being Cute, okay! He's also Helping in the cutest way ever!!!
You Gotta Love... more>> him, okay!!!
Now I'm in new arc... And I sure hope the sudden side CP that is shown right now would have happy ending... Because I swear I'll cry. They're sudden but Lovely!!
Please let us be Happy, Author!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Updated at 10 Sept 2023:
The Plot thickening!
Both unexpected and slightly expected. But the plot was deeper than I thought.
ShuiShui still being the Best MC!!!
Gu Gu still one of the ABSOLUTE BEST ML!!!
Both finally Official but in definitely unexpected way (at least unexpected at the beginning). Their reason of being Official was Natural in sense though. Everything is Gooooood! Pleasant so far~! <<less
I thought the story was simple. MC transmigrating to be with ML and happily ever after. However, I didn't expect it to be complex. But I can definitely say I enjoyed reading it. 😄 There are lots of twists and turns, a bit of comedy and that made the story more colorful.
Spoiler
MC and ML have their past lives. At last after thousands of years, they are able to be together. Their children are also cute. I hope there are more extras. ☺️
Thank you @KnoxT for your translation. I am currently reading at the same pace as the release of the translated chapters.
Though it is too early to speak about the story, I really like it so far. The MC is naive but highly resourceful. And I really like this type of MCs. The ML so far seems like a s*ave for cute things and not much can be deciphered about his personality yet. But, I have high hopes about the story and the journey they will undergo to reach their destination,... more>> wherever or whatever that is.
The world building is pretty robust with the author giving a good enough description about the MCs original world and his cultivation journey with his friend c*m teacher. The interstellar world or atleast the planet they live on has received a thorough enough description too for our understanding. <<less
What drew me into reading this novel is the interstellar setting with cultivation mixed in and FLUFF. The beginning started strong and I immediately fell in love with the novel. The amount of fluff was not strong enough to blind my eyes from the tinfoil conspiracy of a plot.
I read some reviews and found this from a different reviewer which perfectly summed up my thoughts:
I'm taking a break. It's too much at this point, that my head hurts from trying to make sense of it. I will finish this novel, and then I'll give it a rating.
To anyone reading this, it starts off relatively easy to digest. The first chapter is great. Until we get to ch 70ish, it just gets too overwhelming. The author seems passionate about cultivation stuff as well as time/space stuff. But combining sci-fi and cultivation is complicated. Cause one relies on facts and reasoning, while the other is about... more>> making stuff appear out of thin air with spiritual energy. I find this annoying since the author continuously adds more details upon details. It's jarring and doesn't let the reader let the information settle. It goes back and forth with the sci-fi to the cultivation stuff, it ain't fun because you need to grasp what is happening by reading what the author is adding in :' (.
Another thing, as a dormouse I get quite confused with how the MC is able to speak and smile, as dormouse have no way to articulate their mouths and have a complex tongue to utter words. Also, the size disparity when he interacts with objects makes no sense. At one point in the novel it's says he retrieves a downjacket from the abandoned mall. It is apparently for himself, but he is a tiny mouse the size of a palm. How the heck does this work? Unless, I'm reading it wrong... but this continues to happen several times in the story. Dormouse are small, so my imaging gets messed up when I try to picture the MC using big objects.
Honestly, I really really enjoyed the MC finding his bearings in the barren environment he ended up in. From trying to find food to
. It's really novel and cute. But it gets thrown out the window when we reach ch 100. Like, what's the point of him being a dormouse anymore. It became slice of life/farming in apocalyptic world ——-> cultivation/sci-fi/must save the world. Idk, the transition is jarring and I really didn't sign up for this when I read the synopsis. <<less
Okay to good novel. MC, Shu Shuishui, is a sleep loving dormouse and ML, Gu Langu, is an emotionless semi-mechanical human. Their romance is a slow burn that begins with each believing the other is their pet. Their relationship is smooth and MC's protagonist halo is super shiny... everyone loves him and envies ML for his special relationship with MC.
The rating is three stars since I wouldn't feel any regrets if I didn't get the chance to read it. The ending was abrupt, resulting in several unanswered questions and plot... more>> holes which left me frustrated.
Spoiler
Dormouse MC went to sleep and woke up in a different world on a prison planet. MC is carefree and doesn't stress over this but instead prepares for the future. ML's detector discovers ML and after observing MC remotely, ML decides to keep him as a pet.
The pair get along perfectly from the start. Through several fortunate events, MC goes on to improve ML's quality of life and those around him.
BIG SPOILER...
...
The universe has 11 dimensions. Their galaxy (Canghai Galaxy) and the galaxy next to them (Xian Ge Galaxy) are transitioning from the 5th to 6th dimension. They discover the two galaxies will be destroyed in 6-7 years by a 7th dimension civilization. The galaxies will be compressed into the size of a button and used as an energy source.
MC successfully leads the people of the planet to plant spiritual trees throughout the planet and creates a defensive array to protect the planet.
OTHER BIG SPOILER...
...
MC was created from a dream by a member of the Dream Tribe, Meng Mo Li. ML was created from a bone from the Azure Dragon, the Lord of Hell, a Death God aka Lan Gu. MML and LG were lovers, unfortunately separated and died. MC completed the refinement of two rings that allowed the lovers to reunite. I'm confused as to where they ended up after reuniting... a different dimension?
The extra covers the specifics of MML and LG's past.
I just can't finish the novel. Too much is happening, and at the same time not enough is happening.
Too much: at first there are factions in a desert-like apocalypse, then suddenly "winter is coming!" and they build snowmans while the caravan moves in some direction, then it's a farming novel for a while, then some crazy infinite-flow-but-weirder plots, then we discover MC's and ML's past lives and cultivation, then they are on the move again, but on a ship because "summer is coming"... I give up.
Not enough: There is never... more>> danger that feels like danger. The personalities are static. The relationship seems to be sacharine-sweet from day 1, so it doesn't develop either. Not a single side character has a personality arc, except one that is mentioned in retrospect in one sentence. Like "he was bad, but you gave him a book, and now he's good". There is no sense of urgency at any point - they should be migrating to survive, but they act like on an outing. The ML is supposed to develop a personality, but apart from autor saying that he does, it isn't noticeable. Sure, the descriptions go from "he had a beautiful smile" to "he had a beautiful genuine smile", but... eh.
The dormouse is cute and the ML is funny, but I honestly care more about their past self side-couple from chapters 77-83, because only they had real emotions beside *cute cute fluff fluff* <<less
Words cannot express what I can feel right now, what I can say is that this novel is really really good! It made me feel warm, touched, and reluctant to part with it.
I enjoyed watching Shui Shuishui, Gu Langu and the others journey together! Everyone has their own charm and almost nobody is not likable, the ending was wrapped up quite nicely in my opinion too! After reaching the end, I'm really reluctant to part with this novel, it's a whole rollercoaster ride with tons of twists and turns. You... more>> should definitely read this if you're tired from all the dog blooded dramas other novels provide, this novel is very warm, fluffy and is like a sweet dream that never ends~
It's cute and well written. I like how he approaches everything from the position of a magical mouse. What's important? Sleep, food, shelter, sleep, farming for food, his pet humans, food for his pet humans, sleep and a comfy nest for sleep.
Worth a read.
I enjoyed reading this but there are times that I get confused because of the combination of interstellar and cultivation themes. Imo, this novel have a very good world building that needs more than 168 chapters to explain and explore. This novel should have atleast 300chaps so the author can slowly explain everything without overwhelming the readers.
Aside from the mentioned above, I quiet like this story so im givin it 5stars
Novel starts off with a very cute, fluffy, cultivating, OP dormouse and his adventures in a planet facing extreme weather challenges and an apocalyptic era. Up until the first dungeon, the story is easily 5 stars.
However, the later part of the novel becomes a ... more>>
Spoiler
dream-within-a-dream, world-within-a-world, multiple-past-lives, seeing-the-future-and-the-past, reincarnation cultivation mess mixed up with convoluted tech ideas of higher dimensions colliding, space-time rips, wormholes, simulator cabins/logins/dungeons/quests, system/subsystems and clone plots. It was just a huge mess that made very little sense. Way too confusing. Only 2 stars.
Also, it was just interesting that there were absolutely no human females in the story. According to the storyline, the prison system keeps males and females males on different planets, and nothing further as mentioned. So based on the ending, only male humans survived? Anyway, there are no females in the plots/story.
In addition, once they are together, the ML becomes a stereotypical jealous-of-everyone, obsessive, one dimensional cutout boyfriend character.
Slow-ish slice-of-life novel, but still a very enjoyable read.
It was brought to my attention recently that CN novels like to put cultivation literally everywhere, whether it's the apocalypse or the space age. Even though this novel's genre is supposedly sci-fi, the story ends up focusing on "magical" things like seal script, spiritual energy, and of course, cultivation.
That said, I didn't have a huge issue with the cultivation goal of the novel, but rather, really enjoyed the MC's journey as a dormouse.
The side-cast are filled with vivid and fulfilling characters. The... more>> villains have a lot of redeeming qualities and you see less of the malicious competition filling every corner of other CN novels/cultivation novels.
Spoiler
Instead, the main character displays a shrewd kindness, aiming to unite everyone on the planet under one banner in order to resist the powers of an even greater alien civilization.
[collapse]
MC also has a lot of personal strength
Spoiler
in fact, the story really does revolve around the inventions of the MC and the changes he brings to the world. The ML (thankfully) takes a backseat, which makes his very cookie-cutter "cold/ice-cube/domineering" exterior a little less annoying. The author does give him some gap moe moments, like getting his nails painted, but otherwise, I'm grateful that the story doesn't devolve into another one of those "MC meets ML and ends up becoming the ML's backdrop."
[collapse]
The translation was fine, readable. Just a few mistakes and pronoun issues (there are no women on the planet, but occasionally editing missed the MTL that changed some character's pronoun to "she/her"). <<less
As always where’s there’s furry creatures or cute animals, you can’t go wrong with all the fluff and heartwarming plots. But this story do have a few surprises. Mainly the timelines. (I don’t know how to explain, but when you read it kinda understands) Both the ML and MC were cute, even ML the half machine always selling meng just to get Shui Shui attention. Lol the gangs all were very cute and funny too. Besides the normal tropes, the writing style is good. All very rounded, from beginning... more>> to end the sense of completeness is satisfying. Even the premise its cute and fluffy the world building, it’s desolate background, hopelessness but also survival (the whole humanity thing) is written so well. The only regrets was hoping for side cps... lol. Thats and another loopholes.. there’s not much mention of another gender. Lol Anyway a highly recommended read. Currently a little over halfway through and while I really want to know how the story concludes, I'm not sure if I want to finish reading the 60 or so remaining chapters or just look up spoiler and be done with it. I'm also not sure what to rate this novel with as the first 70 or so chapters were great while the next bit where I am now is just confusing and honestly a bit of a drag to read.
The first half is cute, MC as a dormouse is... more>> adorable and the way he thinks is definitely unique and refreshing compared to all the other MC POVs we've read. The premise is simple (at the beginning anyways), the dormouse goes to sleep and somehow wakes up on a barren land, starts making plans for the future and meets up with ML, likes ML's hands and decides to keep him as a pet and eventual wins over everyone else on the barren planet with his cuteness and cooking. To be honest, the novel up to this point without any romance would have been more than satisfactory.
I also still don't understand the premise of the barren planet and why ML and friends are there.
Spoiler
ML was exiled there because he went out of control and apparently a lot of people who was in the army with him followed out of their own free will. If the barren planet was so desolate and dangerous to survive in, I really fail to see why anyone would be willing to follow. Also apparently his family sent assassins in to mu*der him because his continued existence is a scandal buuuut... the novel explicitly says that once exiled to the barren planet it is impossible to leave because it's just a one way travel/communication. So if ML would have never been able to leave the barren planet, even if he was assassinated, the family would never find out because you cannot communicate to the outside world from within the barren planet. Like, what?
[collapse]
The confusing parts start with the simulators. They are first introduced as "life-saving" and "priceless" necessary for survival in the barren planet. Different groups would fight to the death just to grab a simulator and only 100 were released this year to their planet. Of course, MC somehow finds 50+ simulators due to his luck. And... then that little plot just disappears. What happened to the 50+ simulators? We only heard of the first few being traded with Zone B and MC had gifted a couple to Yu Jin but there's no mention of what happened to the rest. The whole simulator plot was stuck on the loading screen, apparently they work like virtual reality games/dungeons/instances and ML was fixated on creating a login screen with his imagination that he was missing. Anyways, once they finally enter the simulators, apparently they're just dungeons, similar to other novels with the whole instances/quick transmigration set up. They're supposedly dangerous, but if they survive they can get one or two supply items to bring back to the real world. And honestly, the supplies don't seem very 'life saving'? Also, since MC had 50+ simulators, how come only the few secondary characters are actively using the simulators. It doesn't make sense for why Yu Jin wanted more than one if everyone only needed one simulator to login and it essentially acts as a console for the person to enter dungeons for. They don't get destroyed after use and it seems like there's an thriving online community inside the simulators. Oh, and coincidentally, quite a few of these dungeons relate to the MC/ML and apparently they might have past lives etc? Those two just accept it.
I kind of don't get how MC fell in love with ML since he's looked at ML like a pet/child he was raising and all of a sudden after he turns into a human and went through one dungeon he comes out wanting kisses.
It just feels like the author coming cultivation, pet raising, farming, quick transmigration, past lives, etc all these different types of plot lines and plot tropes into one novel but not very well. <<less
A very enjoyable story!
It started with a great hook in a dormouse that is cultivating and a cyborg that is the ultimate human machine melding. The opposite ends of the sci-fi fantasy spectrum as a couple. It's also nice that the ML loves the mc's dormouse form as much as his human form.
Spoiler
I thought all the scenes where he uses a shrinking talisman to be the same size as his dormouse were unbearably cute and funny!
The plot seems fairly straight forward but does gain some complexity and depth as it goes on. I appreciated that the solution to the apocalypse
I also thought it was fun to read the mad scientists working away at cultivation techniques.
For a story that had such a large scope the number of developed characters was actually fairly small which worked out because most of them got some degree of depth. The two main characters were well done although sometimes I thought the ML was neglected a little.
Overall a good story worth reading. Recommended!
Great novel. Recommended to read. I enjoyed reading this. Although, there are times where I get bored reading some of the parts so it took me quite a while to finish this. (I just have short attention span and easily gets bored)
So basically, Shuishui and Gu Gu conquered past, present, future, other dimensions, locations, history for love. Especially Gugu's love for Shuishui. I love how they managed to survive and did all what they can to save the Galaxy they live in.
A lighthearted fluffy read with a dormouse MC. His dormouse-like thought process is a comedic contrast to the thoughts of the humans around him. The little guy is just doing his best to survive on what he can make do with, but he is also determined to raise the humans he found. An adorable silly sounding dormouse. I love!
Author tried to introduce a lot of tropes but nothing too out there. For me, the MC is more than enough of a reason to stick around. I love fluff!
It's a very cute story. It's an interesting combination of cultivation and interstellar tropes.
My issues with it are: everything in the plot happens too conveniently and that the cutesy-ness of the character can get a little old because I couldn't suspend my disbelief that someone would be interested in a relationship with a person that acted like a 10 year old. I wish the author included more moments of seriousness from the MC because in those rare moments, you could see how assured, benevolent, and wise the MC actually is... more>> (vs just a Gary Stu type character)
That said, there's whole weaving of time/dimension travel, dream travel, systems, arrays, etc. That kept my interest. It never felt draggy and the ending felt a little rushed as the world kind of felt like it was saved in half a chapter. But it's a good light read. <<less
The story is cute. The MC is SOOOOO cute. And every character are also cute for me. The greening progress is fun to follow along the story. Though I was sometimes confused whether the translator's [cultivation] means cultivating the forest or the spiritual energy. The overall translation is okay. Though sometimes the translator forgot to change Gu Lan Bone to Gu Langu.
For me I think it's good to read when I am busy and only find a bit of time to read some light-hearted novels for relaxation, and of course,... more>> don't need to think too much.
However, I'd love to have the author delve more into the story of Meng MoLi and Lan gu, and give more importance on the ML. It's kind of a waste of his character setting. Which is why I gave 4 stars here. <<less
