Due to a small accident, the young streamer, Zhu Changyang, traveled to the world of cultivation.

Bad news: He had no money, no sect, no cultivation, and was very poor.

Good news: The streaming platform was still there.

He needed to eat, so he had to go back to his old job and livestream the customs of the world of cultivation.

Bad news: The local area is rich in popular Pujiang* professions such as: Sadomasochistic Demon Lord, Pure Immortal Master, Amorous Hehuan Sect… There were big bosses everywhere, and they were all very cruel.

Good news: The netizens loved watching it.

At first, netizens scorned his journey to the world of cultivation. This was a place where strength speaks for itself. With Zhu Changyang’s qualifications, who could he surpass? It would be difficult for him to go far.

Netizens: What’s the point of watching this?

Then, Zhu Changyang took out a bicycle.

Netizens: ???

Then, Zhu Changyang took out a rice cooker.

Cultivation world: ???????

After a while, a netizen said: Bro, I’m convinced! Please start streaming soon! I want to see what else you can create!

Others would cultivate from Foundation Building to Ascension.

Zhu Changyang cultivates from small household appliances to heavy industry.

Zhu Changyang: Our goal is to enable ordinary people in the world of cultivation to live a convenient and fast life.

Relaxing fantasy, sand sculpture light novel

Anchor: No one knows sand sculpture better than me, ah no, better than cultivation doge.

Zhu Changyang (Shou) x Jun Su (Gong)

*Pujiang (普江) is an intentional misspelling of Jinjiang (晋江), or JJWXC.

I truly fell in love with this story. The characters and the world, are brilliant. It's funny, and yet it manages to retain emotional complexity. I loved how absurd it became at times, the surprises kept piling up! There are /some/ plot points that seem obvious as you go along, but that doesn't really matter as you never know what our MC will come out with to tackle the obstacles. Devy has my whole heart! I want a whole novel on her~

I see the appeal of this story, but honestly, if there wasn't an interesting mystery hidden in the plot, I'd have abandoned it 1/3 of the way through.

The strange part is that I love the mc/ml/characters and the world building. There are absolutely events in the novel that were hilarious when thinking of the juxtaposition between modern and ancient and how confused the ancients would be. And like other reviewers say, it's all richly developed and so real. That said, it is So. Depressingly. Real. How does no one pick... more>> up on how the MC is slowly introducing a cultivation world to some of the worst banes of modern existence. All to a condescending wave of applause by his "viewers" and gasps of awe from the natives (aka chumps). I understand how an engineer or manufacturing company's ceo would gush over the discovery of petroleum, but to rave about it as if it's anything but the impending environmental disaster for the unsuspecting cultivation world is to be remarkably naive and ignorant of current affairs. In a world where we are hit with the unknown effects of microplastics in our food chain, uncontrollable waste due to the permanent nature of plastics, and environmental destruction of mining, it's like a travel back in time to read about people who can be so unequivocally happy about industrialization, mass production, and impending labour ab*ses necessary for mass profitability.

If you are looking for a book that perfectly illustrates all the ills of modern life in a completely unironic manner, this is it. The MC creates "innovative" items that have 1/10 the lifespan of the original (a flashlight that can run for a couple hours or days vs a century-long light, a pressure cooker that might last at most 15 years to replace a hundred year old stew pot). He happily depeletes environments until they collapse. He blithely de-stabilizes formations preventing earthquakes in cities by drilling (lol, is this a nod to fracking). And on top of it all, he's an influencer that is pushing unnecessary consumption for the social media likes. Social media commentary throughout the story help cheapen the events and remind the reader that everything is being done for entertainment, not need or even intrinsic want.

The scary thing is, that all of what the MC does is taken as a given, as progress, as the way things just should be. However, the original cultivation world shows that the mc's way isn't really the way things have to be. Sure, there were injustices in the old system, but tell me with a straight face that there will never be injustices just because he's now infused the world with batteries and manufacturing. Tell that to the industrial revolution. <<less

I really enjoyed this webnovel a lot I mtl-d it and it was fairly easy to understand what was going on. There were a few slang terms I couldn’t comprehend fully but regardless a great and easy read as an mtl. The novel is hilarious I laughed out loud at several times and I find both the MC and ML to be very likable characters. What really surprised me was the plot and several key characters that played a major role in the development of the story. The summary doesn’t... more>> hint much to the bigger plot that actually unravels in this story but believe me it will have you hook. I like that several side characters had development or key characteristics that played off of eachother very well and that almost every character we are introduced to comes again several times in the story. Tbh it reminds me a lot of main stream danmei novels (mxtx, etc.) in terms of story progression. Please give this a chance it won’t disappoint I know I kept it vague because you just need to find out for yourself. I went into it blind but was so hooked I couldn’t stop. I’m on my knees please give this novel a chance!!! <<less

I am so so soooo happy I waited for this to be completely translated before reading. I binged the whole thing in a couple of days and it was one of the best New Year's gift ever 😭❤️

This was such a fantastic and fun read. I loved almost all the characters, and a huge part of my enjoyment came from the world building. Gosh, the world building! I love when in-universe magic meets the pragmatism of science to give birth to a weird, fun, best of both worlds type of... more>> scenario.

No, it's not entirely logical, but the story is well written enough (And well-translated enough), that you'll be having too much fun going along MC and ML's adventure to truly stress about it.

It's an adventure novel, where the arcs continue to grow bigger in stakes, and an overarching story line that ties off pretty neatly. There isn't a true Big Bad villain, but more like solving the mystery of MC and ML's past, present, and future together, and the challenges they face.

All in a pretty light hearted tone, with a lot of humor. The oooonly thing I wish that could make this an even more perfect read for me, is that I truly wish we got some smut lol but I already knew it wasn't going to be like that with the tags. Nonetheless, this is something I definitely won't be forgetting any time soon, especially with it's unique premise.

Definitely recommended for those looking for an adventure type read. The romance is slow, but still pretty enjoyable. Loved the chemistry between the MC and ML, and the whole cast of side characters. <<less

Humour

Right up my alley, even if it does get a bit repetitive (especially when you're waiting for new chapters). I mean, it's a blogger with a major in science shoved into a cultivation world, how can it not be funny as shit? Within like 2 chapters he made a shitty bicycle, next he made a flashlight, and after that he made a drilling rig, a f*cking gramophone and a mass production line for down jackets. Imagine a bunch of dignified martial artists in gorgeous daopao with down jackets over the... more>> top. And the netizens' comments on everything have me on the f*cking floor.

Romance

The main pairing is so cute. In a really understated, lovely way. It's based on mutual respect and companionship, which I really love, and the MC Changyang actually takes the time to ask more about him, so it never feels forced. Plus, they're really funny – especially Jun Su, who takes his status as Changyang's future dual cultivation partner Very Serious:

Spoiler

Chang Chunwu glanced at him hesitantly and hinted, “Brother Jun, this is about Changyang’s private affairs... ”

“His private affairs?” Jun Su understood, and said even more naturally, “Then it’s something I should know too.”

Like, come on. He's hilarious. <<less

Read it, it's totally worth it. 10 stars out of 5, straight in my "best of the best" list of novels

I love it, I love every piece of it, to hard too tell all.... I love the main characters MC and ML, the humor, the pace, the tech intertwined with cultivation, I simply adore Land Developer (the cat/tiger yao) and I like all the quirky side characters which give tons of flavor to the story. A lot happens from the beginning so 230 chapters will feel like 1000 but without... more>> lacking any depth. Every story is tied beautifully, if not in it's own ark, then in a later one and the outcomes are very satisfactory. Justice is always served.

The only "looser" (of face) is the poor sword of the ML, which the MC uses it as his own all-purposes (transportation) tool, giving headaches and second-hand embarrassment even to me as reader and event to the audience in the live stream, not to mention all the sword cultivators they meet :))))))))) however ML has 0 objections of course :)))))))

Just read it, you will love it and then search like crazy for something even remotely genius as this story... READ IT NOW !!! <<less

Loved it!

I think the best part was how things were connected and small details and side characters mattered. It flowed, and I appreciate how past things/characters/details weren't forgotten but used cleverly.

The characters were memorable! The MC and ML are fun, and the side characters don't feel flat. Well, one or two of them do feel a lil flat, but I was really touched by a few and liked most. The ML also isn't toxic, thankfully.

I think the weakest part of the novel for me was how smooth the MC's journey... more>> went. I get that this is pretty feel-good, but there wasn't much suspense since I knew MC would be fine in the end. That said, I didn't mind that too much since I didn't know HOW the MC would get through the difficulties. MC was super creative, and I really liked how the author mixed modern tech with a cultivation setting. Bro was unpredictable that way; I only guessed one thing he whipped out correctly.

The plot and worldbuilding are solid, and there's a reason why MC transmigrated. I love how this felt a little bit like a parody of a normal cultivation novel. It was taken seriously, but it subverted some tropes through the power of technology and friendship. I really liked the wholesome and hype moments.

The streaming part was also done well. It wasn't too intrusive / bloated like some other novels. Felt pretty natural.

Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. I didn't get bored at all. <<less

5 stars, and deservedly so. This is one of the more unique takes on the cultivation novels that I've come across. I love these characters, love the story, love the development, and love the hilarious absurdity of some situations.

Jun Su is the goat of touching porcelain, as he continues to do so from the first to last time we see him. Zhu CY deserves his popularity as one who is close to all peoples. Land Developer is pet goals! I love her so much 💗 💓 💛

Even the secondary characters... more>> all get their time in the sun. <<less

It’s not your typical cultivation novel. MC “transmigrates” into a cultivation world as a science and technology live streamer and gets his cultivation from how popular his channel is. MC is VERY OP. When situations happen (especially later on), he has conveniently refined a piece of modern tech that efficiently solves the problem. However, the OPness did not bother me because of the absurdity. Let’s just take out this rocket launcher...

The ML is also funny. He does a bad job at pretending to be a good person and is... more>> super competitive but is clingy and sweet. He’s also a bad influence on their cat/child. The MC and ML don’t really have a bottom line for each other. MC will let ML get away with his demonic nature and ML will do anything to make sure everyone knows MC #1 and make people feel jealous. <<less

Surprising gem, with a plucky yet mature MC and petty/immature but still aloof ml. They make a fun pair. MC is very patient and hardworking, and very op in his own way. ML is very lazy and mysterious, very catlike, and physically op. Side characters are many and amazingly varied, from old to young, female, male, Yao, regular humans to demonic and righteous cultivators, even divine tools and swords. Great ending to tie everything up.

Similar to the author's other novel New Times New Hell, this one is also a funny... more>> and cheeky twist on a familiar subject, but to transmigration x cultivation world vs the ghost/underworld trope. If you liked the other novel you will like this one, and vice versa. <<less

Underrated, underrated and underrated (important things need to be said thrice!)

This, why’s this story so underrated!?

I need to take in a few deep breaths. Teacher Lin never fails to deliver.

Amazing plot. I’ll admit it started off slow and somewhat mundane but it picks up really fast past the 50s, the plot starts unwinding and the bigger picture is revealed. Out of all of Teacher Lin’s stories, this one definitely has one of the best plots, New times new hell was also very interesting but this one takes the cake... more>> for me personally.

Teacher Lin’s works always emphasize wholesome, compassionate and lovely characters, I’m sure she’ll be rich eventually! Zhu Changyang is so damn handsome, he’s smart but knows not to be arrogant, he’s very tacit and clearly knows how to act where and when, he’s what you call socially savvy and perfectly mature.

But I, I am quite similar to Sikou Lou, that desire to do good... admittedly, Changyang’s character really needed to grow on me, which it did, eventually.

Jun Su oh my treasure Jun Su, you know who else I loved? Shang Que. I still remember his name (now im questioning if it’s right coughs.) from years back when I read this NTNH in highschool. These gongs are my favorite, one was screaming about how good he was and the other how mature he was. Definitely came from the same mother.

I’m disappointed it’s done, I can’t stand the fact it’s ending, I can still read a thousand more of the adventures of the Industrial immortal, but my fate is sealed.

Huuuuuu. 5/5. <<less

4.5/5 - One of the most satisfying novels I’ve read in a while. I love how the author managed to tie the loose ends and wrapped it up beautifully. While the work was easily digestible and doesn’t require much critical thinking, I was amazed at how seemingly nonsensical events were explained with solid logic.

No words can expressed how much I've enjoyed the novel, particularly the unique combination of cultivation and technology in the world-building. I laughed out loud multiple times, especially on how the MC solve every problems that arise all throughout the story.

Never a dull moment while reading this. The romance is just right. They're both very adorable. I like that the relationship is built on mutual respect and companionship, which is a very refreshing feeling compared to other forceful and obsessive MLs out there. Overall the time spent reading the novel was very worth while.

Excellent world building and comedy

The cast of characters can be overwhelming, but they all bring some sort of interesting backstory. The power ups are fun, the sects and travels are engaging, and the main character is extremely likeable. Overall, I highly recommend this book as it was an absorbing read with never a boring moment.

Pretty much recommended to read.

This novel is well structured and planned out. The translation is good and the character are likable. It is on the light side but has enough depth and drama to raise tears and get you emotional. I was entertained from start to finish without boring lengths.

I like when a novels world can draw me in, so that I feel like a part of it and being connected with the different characters. This novel was certainly able to do this. It has a solid background, the... more>> world's is reasonable in its own ways.

If I have to find a thing to complain about... it might be the real antagonists. They were kind of easy to take down, what might be because MC and ML are so vastly overpowered.

The setting of MC was nothing less of brilliant. He brought so much fun into this story. Going in I already knew that MC would resolve a lot with technology due to the Reviews I read. What me surprised was the writers ability to still surprise me. I do not want to spoiler this, cause it would rob you off a much of fun but I try to explain in a roundabout way. You will find MC in some situation, you know the problem, perhaps you know what MC has as material to solve the problem and since he will solve it in a technical way, you might rush to an answer what he is going to do and which tool he is going to build. Only to find, that you are wayyyyyy off. I love that.

The story is well planned out. At the beginning you will just learn about the world and meet people. Then there is more foreshadowing and the different adventures finally lead you on a much bigger story to unlock.

So yeah, this novel deserves full points in my opinion. Since a huge part of it's apeal are the surprises MC is giving out, this novel might not be good to read twice, but you should read it at least once. <<less

this is one of the funniest novels I've read in a while, genuinely. the comedy tag should be capitalized and bolded hahaha. I HIGHLY recommend this if you're looking for a lighthearted and really funny novel that also has adventure and "melon-eating" elements in it (because the MC somehow finds himself in everyone's business LOL).

I don't usually like reading anything historical and cultivation but this is an exception! it's so good!

also... I just LOVE how unpredictable the plot of this story is. yet, there is also some great foreshadowing as... more>> well. you never know what's coming but when things go down you look back and realize the author sprinkled an appropriate amount of crumbs in the past that lead up to this.

the two leads are SO cute together.

Spoiler

as of this review they have not gotten together, but feelings are being cultivated!

[collapse]

it's a slow burn in the BEST way. even when there isn't any progress on the romance, they also just make great friends and partners in crime hahaha.

this is so refreshing!

Spoiler

nothing quite like seeing cultivators doing so many extra things that the MC can solve in a simple way with his expertise in everything STEM. need to break a formation even cultivators cants do anything about? just take out a large, industrial drilling rig! lol

I really love this story and ended up binge reading all of the available chapters. Zhu Changyang is my favorite type of protagonist and Jun Su might be a possessive but he isn't controlling or forceful. The translation is great and I can't wait for more chapters!

My only complaint is that there are a few minor details that aren't addressed, like him making a rice cooker for another sect or him neglecting his apprentice. Or his meeting with the former sect master who he found the scale for. Plus the... more>> story is always hopping from one plot point to another. I wish they could slow down and just enjoy things for a bit. Only a small complaint though because I still love this story! <<less

I love the mix of modern and ancient cultivation theme. That's what caught my interest in the first place when I read the synopsis. Then there's the comedic element to it that makes the story and characters very enjoyable.

I just wish the author had expanded more on the industrialiation of the cultivation world at the end (detailed description on how the machines and scienctific process work don't count 🙈). It was only mentioned in a few sentences in one of the extra chapters that MC managed to have the cultivation... more>> world powered by electricity and stuff. It just felt so open-ended and left me quite unsatisfied with the final result. I wanted MC to introduce more modern machines and tools in the extras but got a cute/funny story instead (which I still enjoyed because the characters' interactions are so fun to read).

Overall though, it's still better than other cultivation novels out there.

Still gonna rate it 5/5 though because I actually finished a novel out of all the ones collecting dust in my reading list. That's how hooked I was 😂 Also shoutout to the translator for picking this book 💖 I was actually quite surprised this is written by the same author of "being gay for 30 days". I liked that one as well but ended up dropping it while the rest of the book was still being translated. I might pick it up again for a reread. <<less

It's a fun comedic novel. Most of the time, the main character solves cliché, typical cultivation world problems with modern technologies, leaving cultivators flabbergasted.

The only negative I have is that I wish the cat could transform into a little girl and get chapters about how the two daddies took care of her. Other than that, it was a sweet story

All I can say is I like this novel very much!

The MC is an Academic bully with many funny ideas. He is a little otaku and quite cute. Like a good didi or good friend (that makes you "..." sometimes)

For ML, I still don't know about him much but I think he is a bored guy who wants something new to excite his life.

So far so good. I don't know why it got bad reviews though.

Absolutely a Gem!

Different side of Xian Xia story. You may reach immortality with technology 😂 😂 😂

Really fall in love with MC. How he "cut" the stereotypes and cliche style of hero in cultivation world. Also ML, with the type of CEO mix with silly love syndrome 😂 😂 😂

But, what more magnificent for me, was the world building. Fantastic 😍. No plot holes and everything is clear in the end

I would say that this novel is a rather light and simple read. There were very few more emotional moments.

Spoiler

You could see from 50 chapters beforehand that jun su is a demon and the MC is the sage.

[collapse]

Imo this romance is a bit unfeeling. Reason for this is probably the rather frank and casual behavior of the couple. I think some details about their feelings especially in the developing phase was missing. I also think that some desperation in certain situations could’ve been amplified.

Contrary to the romantic aspect I rlly enjoyed the use of modern knowledge of the MC. He rlly knows how to do business. I also think that the novel was tied together pretty well.

To summarize, this novel is quite enjoying and not too heavy. It might lack some emotional depth but it is pretty well written. <<less
