Another novel that is fun at the start, but the author fails to realise you can't drag on a joke for too long. Three people at the highest level currently known are dealt by his robot instantly, the world he lives in has changed to become the most powerful out there attracting all of sorts of cultivators from the universe but he still hasn't realized his own prowess. Dropped.

So, this is actually pretty good at the start. It's a bit different, the situations fun, and the whole thing is pretty funny.

The problem is that it doesn't really... do anything after that. And the initial premise provides such a tight restriction on what the story can do, so by not moving on... the story is just kinda stuck doing the same thing over and over.

For example, food is really big. So many cooking/eating scenes. It's alright at first because, again, the premise is still fresh. And it's a convenient... more>> way to make interactions happen between the MC and the various cultivators that can be misconstrued by the MC while the cultivators are shocked, in heaven, etc etc. But this quickly ends up being the main way these interactions happen.

The cultivator has some great treasure? MC will see it as some simple food. MC needs to wow some cultivators? He'll feed them a meal chock-full of amazing foods that he sees are normal. That's kind of the limit. Virtually all interactions boil down to this.

Occasionally, very occasionally, some of the MC's other skills will come into play. He'll give a small item he created that later turns out to be some crazy treasure. But the MC can't take part in the actual scene where the item does anything - because that would break the premise. So anything not-food is just a simple "here, take this" interaction and that's it.

If you binge a smaller portion quick enough, it's possible to mostly overlook this. However before too long, it just becomes too obvious. Particularly once you're no longer binging and have a little time to actually think about what you've read.

In some ways I don't blame the author. This premise is *hard* to do well. It places so many restrictions on what can and cannot be done. It's just unfortunate they got stuck in the meal idea, and doesn't seem inclined to venture outside of it. They really ought to have planned out more methods before they even started writing.

Edit: Recently the author seems to have gotten obsessed with this.. joke (?) where one character is forced to kill his pets so the MC can eat them, and then naturally is tempted to eat the amazing food made out of his pets too. Various aspects of this have spanned multiple chapters now. Most of the usual cultural differences don't bother me too much, but I have to say this one is a bit harder to bear. No idea if this will repeat, but given the way the story has gone so far... I wouldn't be that surprised if it pops up a few more times. It's worth taking note of if it's going to bother you, at least.

Edit2: So, the novel has been doing something a little different recently, which I thought would be great... but it is actually worse. We've moved into a bit where MC gives the most mind-blowing-ist advise ever, and everybody is just shocked and awed and amazed and every other synonym you can think of because the MC has just delivered The Truth to them.

The problem, of course, is that then the MC has to actually say something. And it kind of needs to live up to the reactions all the characters have to some degree. Because if it doesn't, it's just kind of unbearable. It's like watching a bunch of people seriously and honestly gush over how some s*upid meme has fundamentally changed their life and want to go preach about it to everybody.

If you have literally every character in your novel proclaiming how amazing something is, it needs to be actually kind of amazing. Otherwise it feels like the story is just written as some kind of perverse mental m*sturbation for the author to congratulate themselves for being so smart. For good measure, the author includes both objective physical processes and far more subjective ideological ideas. The former let you know just how little effort the author put in to basing their descriptions in fact, while the later make it really difficult to ignore just how much sh*t you're smelling. <<less

This novel is really enjoyable at first and then it comes with same problem with all cn novel, and that's super repetitive.

Let's just say "A" suddenly found MC - MC give something to "A" - "A" found out this thing is actually a treasure but the looks are ordinary - "A" goes back and give it to "B" - "A" got scolded by "B" because he thought it A was shaming him - later B also found it was a treasure, B then told A to sucking up to him... more>> together with him. Then later the same scene occur again, with C, D, E, F, G, H and more people. And this continues for hundred chapters.

The plot? Nah, what can you expect from slice of life novel. <<less

As of chapter 40 this is a light-hearted read. Don't read this if you expect a serious plot. The misunderstandings are hilarious but the translation is tr*sh. I mean it's webnovel, the illiterate rich fat pig, what more do you expect from them? At least it's better than MTL, so it's readable.

5/5

**EDIT**

at around chapter 150 on MTL and it's getting super repetitive.
Spoiler

It's basically someone thinking he's OP and then proceeds to become his s*ave.

[collapse]

It's just misunderstanding after misunderstanding there is no progression in the plot so I decided to drop it. I didn't expect there to be anything serious but I wanted at least something. It might be because I binged them and it got stale quick but it's a decent novel to pass the time, I guess.

3.5/5 rounded up

Sometimes 3 stars, sometimes 5.

Mostly absurd and ridiculous. So silly that it turns readers away.

The problem is, beyond the silliness is a coherently build world and several well written characters.

... more>> Beyond the slice-of-life main theme is actually a story with an interesting plot twist.

Plus enemies actually get disposed of, so they don't come back again and again, which is very satisfying.

And star of it all is the humor which gets better and more witty over time.

Yes in the first third it was just ok, there's too much repetition and around the middle it was getting boring enough to thumb through chapters, but it the last third I can't stop myself from laughing out loud in almost every chapter and can't help but look forward to more. <<less

The story is quite fun and light. At first I really enjoyed reading it because it was fresh and funny. But I've read hundreds of chapters and haven't experienced any development about MC.

There were no objections at the beginning but as time went on the story became very boring. Until the end of the misunderstanding is not resolved. I don't have a problem with a very OP MC, but I have a problem with brain dead MC.

Lmao the novel start with an actual Princess meet the MC by chance. Then the next chapter is her brining her mother to him and ask him to help her get rid of marriage. The whole thing happen within 2-3 chapters.

What the F is this shit? Like hell the characters act as if they are long loss friend, and I cant keep up with the obvious clique behaviour.

The MC keep saying that "Oh this... is ordinary, its nothing" while the other immortals think of them as treasures. And this repeat... more>> multiple times throughout the novel. The translation quality is beyond bad, and the convo between characters is cringe af. <<less

This is one of my favorite xianxia. The MC at first is oblivious to his own power, but just after everyone mistakes him for a sage who would get annoyed when he is seen as an immortal so they intentionally try to pretend that he is normal and a mortal. The misunderstandings are great comedy, and the fights aren't over the top, but are still engaging. It's much better than the typical face-slapping, going around creating harems of typical xianxia.

I especially like that the characters aren't brain dead. For many... more>> xianxia novels, everyone other than the MC, even people who've lived for thousands of years immediately lost their marbles as soon as you insult them and will attempt to kill you and your entire family if you step on their toes. While I wouldn't say that everyone is smart per-se, at least they have some rationality which is lacking in traditional xianxia. <<less

This would have been a 6* novel, if not for the fact that 70% of the novel is about introducing new random characters, letting them doubt the MCs food, then having them try it, having them gorge on it and then having follow the MC. The first three time was funny, but afterwards it got really annoying. It is clear that the author gets paid by word count.

The romance is decent though and non-food scenes often reach peak humor (4*) :

Spoiler
  • boar and kite
  • everyone pooling their oranges as currency
  • Jiense and wife
  • the world listens
  • keeping the dragon ancestor a secret

Flaws:

  • food
  • food
  • everyone is s*upid and childish and doesn't act their mental age (thousands of years of life experience)
  • no deep schemes
  • food

The idea is good. In fact it is very very good. The first 50 or chapters are very entertaining. But it gets repetitive after that. The author keeps repeating the same scenarios over and over again. I am at chapter 305 and I am just tired of reading the same thing over and over again. I am dropping the novel at this point. It is such a shame though. The premise was very good.

At the beginning I would like to say that the novel is for those that like misunderstandings and cultivation in mix with slice of life. It starts with a premise that MC is in a cultivation world and is just left by the system that helped him to master chess, music, farming, etc. Everything BUT cultivation.

As the story progresses it is revealed that people around MC see him as a cultivation bigshot and he is not aware of the fact. The story has a strong light on relationships around the... more>> MC and people that come to his door. There is a little bit too much focus on food culture but, hey, it's all fun. As the story goes on we can experience MCs growth and also
Spoiler

world and cultivation growth. Because as the story goes on, MC is stronger and stronger and we can't find his limit.

[collapse]
BUT so far, at the c830 MC is still not aware that he is strong. The author gave a few reasons that hold the story (but still aren't definitive-because those are all speculations of other characters in the novel).

As the story goes on the plot get's better and the focus is shifted on different situations with different characters that are around MC. There are a lot of funny moments and scenes but it gives little bit of a childish vibe (as in that author took a childish situation and milked the situation to the extreme) like:
Spoiler

The bad guys searching for the ultimate path unknowingly eat shi. it, because they felt a strand of ultimate path near his house in cesspool used for nurturing plants. And they eat it again and again...

[collapse]

In conclusion, if you like story about OP MC that has no idea he is OP and goes through life casually-this is a novel for you. The story so far opened a lot of space for improvement of characters and development of the story, so I can't wait to see what will author do with it. I only hope that the ending won't be rushed and that it will be nicely packed. Also, these kind of stories can go on for only so long-I don't want to see 1000+ chapters and story getting 'desperate'. <<less

Nothing

Edit: 3 stars now for me but idk how to change stars

it becomes pretty boring as the MC does not do what he could do. The novel focuses more on the cultivation aspect and forgoes its earlier cultivation with science like the robot. He introduced with a system and that he conpleted the tasks of the system. He mentions that it had math but he never tried to make tech. He can make a robot but he never bothers making anything else and he barely explains science and use... more>> it and instead use the cultivation and buddhist stuff.

It was fun for a while, for me it was until the 200s, but it gets boring and it never expands beyond that. The immortals were no different from the cultivators in that realm and they could immediately come down rather than expanding the world and giving the side characters more adventures like earlier parts. It just repeats itself but in a more boring way. <<less

A very enjoyable read for those like me who appreciate tons of misunderstandings. The whole story is a misunderstanding between the MC (who wants to kiss up to the cultivation experts so that he can live safely), and the cultivators (think MC is some OP hidden expert that has a strange hobby of living like a mortal). MCs actions are always misinterpreted and over thought by everyone, along with the many strange coincidences that back up their conjecture, MC becomes an expert in the eyes of world.

This is a fun... more>> read, mainly just slice of life with MC interacting with cultivators to help them with their problems. The misunderstandings are very exaggerated and the MC can appear very dense in situational awareness, but its funny overall. The MC is basically living at his own pace without interference from others due to their respect for him.

The world itself is based on Chinese mythology in which Pangu made the world, and Nuwa mends the sky, etc (similar background to other stories like Desolate Era, and My Senior Brother is too Steady). This has a bit of kingdom building IMO as the MC expands his work/living space, and later on in the more recent chapters

Spoiler

the world building aspect expands as the story introduces other worlds/planets that exist in the vast chaos known as space, and of course MCs world is one of the weakest incomplete worlds which causes Alien unfriendly's to visit for impure purposes.

[collapse]

In terms of romance/harem:

Spoiler

really its more of a romance IMO, because while there are 2 love interests, MC only seems to ever focus on the main female side character (9 tailed Fox). The other girl (Phoenix) seemed like a side chick that was forced onto MC than anything else. MC marries them ~510 but he never thought of marrying the other girl, nor realized she liked him until main girl suggested that only marrying her might make the other girl disappointed. Felt quite s*upid honestly.

[collapse]

So for readers that are looking for a change of pace from intense action with arrogant MCs to a slow pace relaxing slice of life with cultivators (gradually picks up speed as MC interacts with more people), I recommend this story. <<less

I enjoyed the novel.

Spoiler

The novel was well done with how everything played out, like with how he never found out the he was a big shot because everyone/thing was trying to keep it hidden from him. Like with painting you could think the treasures he used to paint could be the reason he never got to see how it was powerful, or with the harem (his two wives) and dog making it seem like they are weaker than they are. If you think about it with everything/one acting normal around you with the fact that the "system" only trained him in arts like painting and gardening, most people would believe that they are weak in a cultivation world. Another thing that I think was well done was the POV change that got added in, just because you can only read so much of him eating and sitting around/traveling around before you start to get tired of it so the POV change was a nice "filler" to that.

with that being said a few things I didn't like was how he did not question some of the weird things going on, like his mood affecting weather or how weird the animals (cow, "chickens") are, also his wives being strong and being with him (not trying to make him more powerful/longer life). Another thing I was not a fan of was how he would always end up saving the day when a more powerful enemy would show up, however that could be seen as him reacting to what they say or he is just so powerful he just instinctively knows. (Slice of life so its not shocking)

[collapse]

I think I would have given it a 5 star if the ending explained more or was a little longer but with everything I think it is worth reading, however go in thinking its a slice of life and know its not going to be full of fighting or anything like that.

(accidently deleted my first review so this is my 2nd : ( so might be worse.) <<less

It's fun at first (I really loved it and I would probably rate it 5 stars) but unfortuantely author doesn't know the phrase 'don't labour the point'.

The jokes are repeated too many times, something I absolutely adored a few chapters back becomes something I roll my eyes and skip etc.

Good and funny start, but it falls off because author doesn't know when to stop.

The formula for this web novel is the MC's one-dimensional worshippers getting their bu*t kicked just to get saved by the MC due to some random dues ex machina. It's actually ridiculous how often they talk about how much of an opportunity it is being around the MC, yet they always get the snot beat out of them and they're always useless in conflicts.

This web novel really went downhill after it started to leave the comedy behind and began revolving around the MC's followers' confrontations. POV switches started getting longer... more>> and longer to the point that the MC has been almost entirely shoved into the background. Instead of taking the time to flesh the MC and his immediate followers out more, this author decides to just keep introducing more shallow characters, discarding the original cast, and replaying the same formula I described in the above paragraph over and over. It's quite honestly complete garbage how this author entirely abandoned what made this web novel worth reading in the first few chapters and just devolved into the stereotypical face-slapping fights that you can find in every other tr*sh xianxia; except, instead of satisfactory conclusions, we just get a bullsh*t end to every fight due to some random thing the MC did unawarely. <<less

definitely overplays the joke, however you should guess it'd do that based on the story.

Started off with great potential, some of the scenes made me laugh, and I was interested in learning more about the characters.

After around 70 chapters I had to force myself to be even slightly interested in continuing.

It had a s*upid patern of, A: someone talks about bigshot

B: "their heart rate was through the roof as they recounted their experiences"

C: meet bigshot and eat a meal. "THIS FEELING. THIS IS INSIGHTS, THIS FOOD CONTAINS INSIGHTS"

It starts out as an entertaining slice of life story but later it became quite bland.

The MC is a perfect/overpowered guy and everybody is rushing to hug his thigh but as you read more and more, the author's writing became easily predictable.

Spoiler

Almost all their reaction to MC are over dramatically same. Rinse and repeat. Especially the eating and being amazed by the rare items scene.

(I can't say I hate this but it does get boring)
Don't forget to throw the logic out of the window if you want to enjoy it.

[collapse]

However, if you like a story where the MC has ungodly amount of luck and items and people trying to bootlick him. Then this might be your cup of tea.
