I started reading because of the interesting setting and slice-of-lifeish atmosphere, with a twenty five years old fallen noble MC got sold off to an old duke who died shortly after, but because of that, MC ended up as the duchess dowager of the duke family (despite having an older stepson and daughter-in-law).

surprisingly this story have quite politics involved, the Duke's family was being pressured by the Emperor to accept MC as their mother-in-law (political scheme to taint the Duke's family), due to that, MC ended up becoming the duchess... more>> dowager for real (though she's still very careful about her situation)... and as the title, the daughter-in-law (she's not a brat) was wary of MC thus the tense situation between them.

It was a pretty good story of an easy-going MC with politics, business and bits of romance. as of now, I'd say it was a pretty calm read c:

• actually it's 4/5 if only rate based on the story as for now because it ended up not as slice of lifey as I thought. I wrote this review after reading the first ten chapters, but twenty chs in this seems to be going into MC picking up a knight, MC making business, MC scheme and war of nerves with Helene... it's good. but I have a personal policy to only do series that I really really like... and this series doesn't seem to be it.
• this isn't going into a direction that I like. though again, this is because of my preference. I thought it was more about MC's life in the annexe but she actually go around. though since I'm the one picking this up, sooo *looks away*
• anyway, I should've read this more thoroughly like my other projects before picking this up... not only that, I overestimated myself, this series is sooo hard to do....
