I Was Born as the King’s Daughter

Kim Soo Hee, a not so ordinary office lady, died on the way home to her ordinary husband Jin Soo. She was stabbed by her crazy stalker. Before she lost consciousness, all she thought was about how she regretted taking Jin Soo for granted and how she wanted to live more.

After she woke up, she realized that she was reborn as a baby. She was a king’s daughter, a princess named Kim Sang Hee. But, the first thing she heard was the handsome king telling her mother, “Again, another b*tch?! Know your shame!” She was born in an alternate era where women were considered lower than even tr*sh.

So Kim Sang Hee decided using her previous life’s skill (read: enticing men) to at least keep herself alive in the new world and maybe make the scumbag father and ruffian brothers into her side.

Let me say this, the entire novel can be found on the English publishing site Tapastic, you just need to rack up coins through ad watching in order to purchase the episodes.

The entire premise is great! And the story telling is lovely, however be aware that the character barely develops, and the arcs are not very inclusive.

The protagonist will not do much in character development nor else starting from the Empire Academy arc. Rather, she never develops at all in the story. She will be complaining, acting, and majorly a brat - but still a good read. My main complaint is that when she meets princes like William or the fat group partner, she is intelligent in the beginning to realize guys are horrible and incredibly witless, but does not comprehend that these men are evil. Nor is acknowledging of how much her affections effect her father; who had sent out the highest ranking military officer to protect her!

The characters are pretty stereotypical, but the premise is unique enough to drag you in, it can irritate you, but the book is a good read! There is a webcomic <3 <<less

first thing FYI the MC is useless, she may seems smart but for me she is the most annoying MC ever created. fortunately she has a surviving insting like a coakroaches so she endured well, which is another type of s*upidity. and the bad news is until the end of the season 2 she is still s*upid and the character never develops. from the moment she was 5 yo, she will get bullied and then saved by his brother, and then in her teens she almost poisoned but saved by... more>> his brother, and then she entered academy, bullied again and saved, and bullied by her friends and almost killed and then saved, bullied again then saved by his brother, bullied.. saved.. bullied saved.. bullied again and saved, bullied again and saved.

the novel for me fell under title : bullying and saving of king's daughter.

well... this is a dragging.. first she show her smartness by being able to translate korean's writing (somehow in her new world korean's writing style is lost and ancient) and then when she entered the academy she hides it.... and she became the object of those bullies bcoze girls dont have dignity there. but if you have unique power such as magic u will be treated well. our MC (s*upid girl. for me at least) doesnt have magic yet, but she can read korean's writing which is the original of magic blah blah blah but she hides it. I know she has to struggle to survive, and its logical to do what she did. but thats just dragging... she is no different than a cannon fodder MC.. and I hate that.

the other problem is the fiance, which is her former husband. he is too freaking annoying. I hope he died, its not I dont understand why he hated the MC thinking that she did something to him and screwing his mind, but I just hated him really hated this kjnd of man. u read bring the nation husband home? I get the feeling their relationship based on that story.. annoying.. well in season 2 we know the male lead got messed up by the empire so he has another personality. I dont know why the other world him transfered here.

oh and the other thing is u have to pay to read the translated chapters!! so pay well dear readers.

the last, the novel is well bearable to read.. I just hate the cannon fodder type MC and the s*upid hard headed Male lead, and the one star is for both of them. and also the story doesn't progress much with so many chapters. <<less

If you are into weak and pathetic MC, this is for you, I drop this novel. I don't see why people like this novel. There is nothing special and unique in this novel. I feel very irritate when they abuse women and baby girl. I hate emperor, wishing MC overthrow emperor and become first female emperor. But too bad, Korean protagonist is weak, s*upid and dumbass that do nothing but become pathetic and humiliated.

If you like weak and s*upid MC who get bully, abused to women, baby girl. That's for... more>> you. <<less

In the earlier chapters, you guys might feel peeved with the whole gender discrimination and at the unreasonable treatment towards the women but it will all be revealed in the later chapters why there is such maltreatment towards the female population. As for the polygamy tag, worry not cause there's no polygamy or harem for the main ship.

it's because of the King and the Emperor, I swear their harem is crazy. But later on, as the King starts to feel and care more for Sang-Hee, he starts to realize a special fondness towards Sang-Hee's mom

This is quite an enjoyable read as Sanghee charms her way to her older brothers and the King and how these supposed strong and powerful men are molded by Sanghee on how to treat females better, she tries to do some changes little by little as it is absolutely hard to just instantly change the views that men in that world have towards the female population. At the same time, it is super funny how the King dotes on Sang-Hee too much and that he's like a tsundere most of the time. As he seems to be denying how much he dotes on his daughter and favors her much more than his sons. The same goes for the female lead's brothers!! Those brats, as she calls them are all over their little sister but they just don't know how to express how much they adore her (because there is no precedence on a prince or a king doting on a princess), which leads to the Female lead, misunderstanding their "goodwill"

Like how the three brothers protects her from the female lead's 30+ sisters (yes, not counting the princes there's like 30+ princesses and 12 queens, those who give birth to a son becomes a high queen)

As for the tragedy tag, DON'T BE SCARED OF THAT!! IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY for the main leads!! They've got plot armor!!

But then again, I definitely bawled my eyes out on that last arc. TToTT <<less

I've read ahead in the Chinese version so the names are kinda messed up. But the main protagonist has grew up in such a sexist world that she has to kiss up to the men (father and brothers) to keep herself safe.

They eventually come to love her but besides her father who (FINALLY) realized that he appreciates her, and aside from her eldest brother who doesn't look down on females to begin with, they all think that she is something special. Just someone that's different, and they haven't connected the concern they feel as love yet.

She really wants to be together with her husband again but he can't remember anything from the past life unlike her. He just feels intense dislike towards her because of how she dominates his thoughts. <<less

it's the amazing story of the first time in history where men cared about one of their female relatives

... seriously if you read this story that's pretty much the takeaway. The female MCs only "power" is getting her father/brothers to love her. And, that being the case, it makes me, the reader, boggle a bit at the fact that apparently - before the female MC - no man had ever loved their mother/sister/wife/daughter

The MC is not an idiot girl trying to 'capture' harem members, like I originally thought (life skill: enticing men was misleading). She's just trying not to offend the males in her life by being amazingly adorable!! Daddy's little girl indeed!

She doesn't have a relationship with her sisters because ever since one of them tried to assassinate her, her brothers have kept them away without her knowing. Also, seems like her sisters are jealous. That's why most of who she interacts with has been male.

I only read a portion of the manhwa, and I did not have a good first impression of this novel, since women were treated like tr*sh. MC's relationship with her family make me feel conflicted as well, ... more>>

since she did everything short of licking their shoes in order to gain their favor when they originally thought of her as less than tr*sh (MC actually hated their guts), so even though her father and brothers showered her with what seemed like genuine affection afterward, I wondered whether they loved her or loved her flattering them

I loved it when I finally got to the fluffy part and it turned into a story of tsundere father and brothers doting on the MC and had high hope for this novel, but now I will drop it, the reason being a spoiler thread I just found :

I kept reading this partly because I wanted to see how MC would change this world for the better, but it seemed like this whole story was to explain how the MC got Stockholm syndrome and finally went along with the males tyrannical way of treating women like dirt since they "had their reasons", because MC was basically the only girl in the world who got preferential treatment. And the fate of those women that was not the protagonist who tried to stand up for themselves such as Freesia? Tragic doesn't even begin to cover it

. So yeah, I will give this 3* for the fluffiness, but I'm dropping out. <<less

Like what top comment says.

It's available at Tapas app. I was so excited for it! But it fell down flat.

... more>> I bought ink to access the whole novel through Tapas.

It was exciting and fun but up till a point. For me, it became painful to continue. The pain may have been from the high expectations I had because the price of this novel was 4x the price of a normal novel in my country. Note that these normal novels are novels authored by Neil Gaiman, John Green etc etc.

For me, the story fell flat. It felt draggy, but at that point I already bought all the chapters... orz

The translation is pretty good though! I just didn't like the novel 2/3 on the way through. <<less

I'm not sure whether should I add a spoiler tag or not but I just couldn't wait to express how much I love this book.

Okays so firstly I shall say the king is superb awesome. Love how he is always being so tsundere. He should obtain the best character award in this manhwa. This is my personal opinion. Other than that, I actually like the brothers more as the manhwa progress because they are just too doting. As I have read so far even the husband to be is awesome... more>> and how each and every one of them wanting to monopolise the girl is just too cool. Now I'm just waiting to know what type of magic she has and who is that shadow guy who looked like truth in full metal, he bugs me too much. As for sang hee, my personal opinion is that I hope she accepts her brothers' and the king's goodwill and shows her sincere gratitude towards them and not just acting like a drama queen she is, in the beginning I don't mind it much since they were such sexist creatures but as the story progressed, I can see the character development and I fell in love with some of them, not against sang hee or anything, since I like her strong front in facing the male dominated world but hoping she would treat them sincerely since I really do love the brothers and the king. <<less

NOTICE the above 77 is referring to the MANGA.

TLDR: I would like this a lot more if the MC wasn't an indecisive idiot. The plot conflicts horribly with the premise.

When the MC is presented with genuine, literally irrefutable proof that the guy sharing the face of her former husband has at least some of his memories? She spends 50+ chapters agonizing over whether or not it might be true, despite literal proof (MC herself) that it's possible to remember past lives, and that such memories may be confusing. But no.... more>> She's gotta complain to herself that he's cold to her when she refuses to tell him the exact information he wants and has asked for repeatedly.

Classmates think she shouldn't be in school cuz she's a "dumb girl?" Better confirm all their assumptions by lying and purposefully answering questions wrong. But she makes sure to then complain about them looking down on her.

Basically the author got too ambitious and genuinely doesn't know how people work, but forced the story into a place where human interaction is literally the only thing that can happen. There was a glimmer of hope for the "advancing science" type of plot but that was discarded almost immediately in favor of a generic "damsel in a tower" plot, which makes no sense because as stated by the MC repeatedly, NO ONE IN THIS WORD GIVES A FLYING f*ck ABOUT WOMEN. <<less

This is a good read! Although at first I had to hold myself from throwing my phone across the room. I read the early chapters on Tapastic, but yeah, you need to pay to read it. I couldn't buy the coins on Tapastic because it wasn't available on my region. It was very tormenting, I tell you. Then I came across the manhwa, I WAS SO HAPPY. But, the manhwa is in Korean and I don't speak nor write Korean, but its better than nothing, I guess.

So far, the manhwa... more>> is good. It gets updated once a week, on Saturday. I can't really put in the spoilers here, but what I can tell you is that you should definitely read this, either the novel or manga. Both of them are the same.

Lastly, I want to thank our dear translator for translating it and put it somewhere, where, all of us can access to. I've contacted Tapastic about me having trouble of buying their coins, but they told me that they couldn't really do anything about it. It was a bummer, a very big one. So yeah, THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH! ☺️ <<less

I read some of the chapters in the manhwa version and I immediately dropped it. I'm glad that a lot of reviews also think the same as me. I was intrigued by the premise, of how it pictured the misogyny but disappointed in instance of how poorly executed the issue was

What I got after reading the manhwa that the misogyny isn't the main problem, I mean that's only a capstone for the FL to act cute and make her harem

I was expecting too much so I dropped it before I... more>> got more headache. My rating is 1 and no one could change my mind otherwise <<less

This is one of those stories where the Author shouldve realised that too much sewage diving before something redeeming happens isn't a good thing...

I didn't have the stamina nor motivation to get past the earlier chapters. I felt like there should be a great flood without a Noah's Ark equivalent to salvage anything in this world... Just get deleted
