During a certain adventure, a group of cultivators were caught in a trap.
The high-rank demonic cultivator laughed uproariously, “You’re all doomed now that you’ve been been struck by this deity’s heart-burning demonic prison!”
Everyone was in a panic.
The demonic cultivator said, “Unless one of you can bring out the root soil of the Liantian Flower!”1
The cultivators: “Who would pay attention to something like that!”
Minran silently opened her storage ring, retrieved the storage bag marked 564, and poured out a large mound of soil from the roots of a Liantian flower.
The demonic cultivator: “…Unless you also have powder from the coffin holding this deity’s corpse, it’s still the end for you!”
Minran silently took out storage bag 619.
The demonic cultivator: “…And the ten-thousand-year-old silt from the snow at the top of the iceberg in the coldest part of the sea connected to the underworld….”
Before the cultivators’ expectant eyes, Minran embarrassedly dug around for a while, until it was all piled up in front of the demonic cultivator, and smiled shyly while the demonic cultivator vomited blood in anger. “Thank you for your help, I wouldn’t have known how to detoxify without it.”
The demonic cultivator: “…Blergh!”
He vomited three liters of blood, then died!

You know the animes that makes the protagonist meets other characters during the childhood and make it seemingly that they will be a power team that will grow up together and face whatever final boss they will encounter but instead the author throws out a curve ball and kill those other characters after a few episodes/chapters at the very beginning of the growth arc. And the readers are left in utter shock of what just happened. Yeah this is it. And you know normally they don't let the protagonist fight the out of league strong character in the very beginning because they are still in developing or atleast not let them get in danger. This novel is brutal. There are a lot of death kind of brutal, unexpected beloved characters deaths kind of brutal.
I dislike the pacing of the novel though, it feels like there is so much mystery and no answers and the MC is constantly surrounded by s*upid people or meets crazy people that put her in different situations. I guess it just feels like the MC takes no initiative, which fits the novel title I guess, but sometimes offence is the best defence? It just feels like she doesn't plan ahead. Or more like there is no contingency plan for when she encounters problem.
