A wonderful and fun read with a rushed ending.

Don't let this stop you though! The characters and relationships are surprisingly fleshed out. This novel made me cry and laugh with the protagonist, especially the first few arcs.

Now don't continue if you haven't read it. (:

Spoiler

I really loved this misunderstanding comedy kind of story and the friends ron made during his travels to aquire the mystery. I wish we would have had the chance to meet them all again though. For example Scarlet, the shop owner or the vampire sisters and many more only appear briefly. I feel like the author prepared for something great only to rush the ending and as a consequence - miss many opportunities. If the author continued with the great qualitity of the beginning of the story, I feel like it would have slight tr*sh count vibes - meeting more and more companions, doing some politics, saving some people... so I'm really sad they rushed it. : (

Personally I feel like the story went downhill starting from the academy/successor arc. I enjoyed the mc's travels and his struggles with acting strong and doing what his morals tell him too while keeping a Lord's demeanor. But I feel like starting from the successor arc, this all loses meaning. We don't see him thinking that hard anymore to overcome his weakness - an interesting part of the story is taken from us. A lot of the comedy was also inspired by the MC pretending to be this cool overlord and finding himself in difficult dillemmas... taken from us too.

Another thing I loved about the MC was his acting as the cold Lord with a warm heart. In the first part of the novel I kept looking at the beautiful cover of him and I could really imagine him staring at someone and faking to be strong. It was very immersive. But from the academy arc on this immersion was broken, as he played house with kids. His whole personality crumbled. Where a lot of comedy could be placed (remember, he is a overworked adult in a school), they just took away what could have made it fun. For example they could have joked about him being awkward and not knowing how to interact with the students or smth like that because he is an ADULT. Maybe I was just expecting too much from the first part... and even after the academy arc when he gets his true form back, we only see him stressed out because of the demon invasion and none of his cold demeanor or any kind of characteristic which the author described so much in the first part appear again. It honestly feels like he just became a much more blander and boring person.

I also found it interesting, how the roommate of the young successor completely got forgotten somehow? Like, we all thought she would be the traitor but she just NEVER APPEARED AGAIN? Like OKAY? That's why you have to kill Leah (I have a love-hate relationship with that scene (, :) and make up some illogical last minute plot where Ron acts like he kills the girl's father who is now somehow the evil villain who suddenly wants to kill himself WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO TALK TO RON??? Yeah... so the last part of the story was pretty unusual... and I think it's interesting but I have some beef with it.

Sorry for the rant. I just really loved the first part with all the comedy, the interactions and the great built up - was really excited for a nice ending : ( But I still love the novel and I think the concept of a weak human accidentally faking strength and then saving other people with his faking while also pretending to be cold is a very fun concept :D

As someone who is a fan of misunderstanding novels, I really enjoy this novel so far. MC has been transmigrated to a game world that he played for 8 years. He has an OP skill, which allows him to instantly kill someone regardless of their level and buff. However, there is one problem MC has. He is practically weak besides having that one OP skill causing him to be surrounded by powerful people who think he is strong. While pretending to be a strong leveled character, MC probably... more>> prays every night so that he doesn't get killed by these people.

Edit: Status => c162 (December 23, 2022)

I really hope this becomes a manhwa. I couldn't help but read more. I would like to thank the translator for picking up this novel. Without it, I would never know it existed.

Spoiler

So I was wrong in my first review, MC didn't pray every night hoping that he doesn't get killed. He actually went out to a couple of hidden dungeons using his game knowledge to gain skills to protect himself.

Edit: (December 26, 2022)

Although MC goes to hidden dungeons, he always brings someone with him to kill mob monsters as they go there or help him with others things. The hidden dungeon doesn't have any monsters. If there is, then there will only be one or two of them. Furthermore, these hidden dungeons are more like a cave than a dungeon. You will see what I mean when you read the story.

Throughout the story even to up to chapter 162, MC only has one OP skill that does damage, which is Instant Kill. The other skills he obtains help him use this skill more efficiently and increase his survival.

[collapse]

Spoiler

There were times when I was wondering how MC is so lucky to obtain skills in every hidden dungeon he goes to. However, it turned out to be beginner's luck. After like few consecutive failures, he focused on something else.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I really enjoy the school arc that started around chapter 137 because it reminds me of The Novel's Extra. However, Korean readers were complaining about how this was a scam and a rip of their money. : (

On the other hand, they realized after 20-ish chapters the plot started to focus more outside of the academy, and they started to ask for more chapters. :)

Edit: (December 26, 2022) I really regret adding spoilers here if this was going to happen, and this was my first review. I feel like I should add more because of a certain "reason" :) (Me trying my absolute best to follow the Review Guidelines)

Although MC does go to an academy, he is not OP over there. He was sent to the magic department because of his "mission", but he lacks magic (Yes, magic not mana. I would call it mana because he can increase it through practice. However, I'm not an expert on this stuff, so idk). The skills he obtained do not use magic; but in the academy, he is required to use magic. He struggles with magic theory, which most of his classmates can do faster than he can.

P.S. He even failed the magic theory exam, which he studied really hard for.

The reason why I said that the school arc reminded me of The Novel's Extra was that MC is a nobody in the school. The school only allows students to use magic that they teach (Again, MC lacks magic). Thus, although MC is "strong" outside of the academy, he is nobody in the school. However, he still manages to catch the attention of people that are pretty decent in the class (aka strong people in the academy (This is a biased opinion)).

When I said that the plot started to focus more outside of the academy, I was referring to their school break. He is still a student in the academy and is having a "fun" time with his school friends outside of the academy during the school break. It doesn't mean that MC will no longer come back to the academy. He will.

Edit: (December 26, 2022)
Another thing I want to mention is spoilers are NOT summaries of a novel, so you shouldn't assume and pretend that you read the whole novel. People can tell if you just copy someone else's review and didn't read the story because the review can be incorrect information. I'm not saying that someone is doing that here :). I have only mentioned a small bit of the beginning and the recent chapters that I have read. There is a whole chuck of arcs between them that I have not to mention because it is extremely good that I don't want to spoil them. If I spoil them, then you won't be able to experience what I experienced when I read the novel. <<less

A meh story with meh characters, meh setting, and a horrible MC. It's not that the writing is 'that' bad. But when giving the MC an OP skill such as 'Instant Kill'. You need to find ways so he doesn't bulldoze through everything. That's obvious, but the writer does it in the worst way possible. Firstly, the other skill the MC reincarnated with may as well not exist. It's supposed to keep him calm and collected but he's scared shitless by everything and is the height of incompetence. With the... more>> limitations set by the author, the MC could just ask to shake hands and insta-kill the villain and according to their character, they probably won't refuse, but he just...... doesn't. <<less

Edit: Apparently it ended way earlier because of author's health. It's very unfortunate but it explains a lot.

Honestly, the first half was a 5/5 for me. Not the most original but really enjoyable. It's also why the bad ending makes it so much worse. I feel like it was very rushed and frustrating.

I have no bones to pick with the first half of the story. It might feel like he's picking up powers a lot at first, but he doesn't get any major power-ups later. He does learn how to... more>> use his powers better, though. He's definitely not OP compared to the strongest characters and never will be. A shield is all it takes to block his one-shot. As for the second half, the academy arc could've been much shorter.

Spoiler

I wasn't a huge fan of the MC attending school, and the arc kept dragging on for so long. The whole arc was somewhat forced, too, in my opinion.

[collapse]

The closer I got to the ending, the more confused I was. There was so much stuff yet to be explored with so little time left, and we, unfortunately, didn't see any of it. The whole mystery of the ancient mages was never really addressed.

Spoiler

To be fair to the author, it was mentioned that current techniques were better, but the materials ancient mages used were not really available anymore. Which doesn't really explain all the mysteries the MC absorbed, no? They don't require any materials.

[collapse]

I also wish we could've seen more of the world in general. While the MC spent a fair amount of time in Calderic and Santea, I don't feel like he explored anything. The great forest and the demon realm were barely touched too.

As for the ending itself, aside from it being forced, I didn't really like it.

Spoiler

The MC was a regressor all along. The original MC didn't have any abilities (he did transmigrate from Earth but had no skills). As a result, he had to struggle. He met Caan, the new hero, who became a precious comrade to him. Unfortunately, she died along with the demon lord. Sometime after that, the original MC managed to attain godhood. With his new powers, he kept turning back time, thousands if not more times, to save Caan. There was a catch, though - he couldn't keep his memories and most of the skills, making it so fate didn't change. That's why he "created" the game of RaSa; it was to indirectly transfer the memories. He also kept some of his skills, like instant death and the soul of the king. And that's where the current MC comes in - he was basically the first iteration, but with the memories of playing RaSa and the two skills.

[collapse]

Here's why it sucks for me:

Spoiler

I find it really frustrating how the current MC was influenced by the original one. Every power of his wasn't really his own. His actions were orchestrated. I feel like the main character that we followed throughout the entire story was fake. Frankly, I'd be really angry if I was in his shoes. Finding out that the skills I got and the actions I took were because someone else manipulated me into doing them and not because of my free will. Frankly, did our MC even have free will in the first place? Had Caan not survived, the original MC would turn back time once again and create a new "character, " starting the cycle all over again and wiping out the whole story.

[collapse]

Reading it left a really bitter taste. It's sad to see what that novel could've been and how it actually ended up. <<less

I'm amazed by how bad and bland this author and novel are. The premise is okay, and it starts out pretty well, and then the rest of it is just boring and aimless. MC has no real goal, no ambition, doesn't do anything significant for the "peace" that he claims he wants. All the characters are uninteresting, character development is lacking, and even the story is really bad. For some reason the author decided to do a school arc out of nowhere, and the justification for it is really weak.

It's... more>> basically just a series of boring events that don't really build into anything significant, there are no stakes and no strong overarching plotline. Add a bunch of annoying common Korean tropes and you got pretty much the standard Korean webnovel. It's like all these are just generated by some AI according to a template. Don't even bother with this crap, go read LoM 2 instead. <<less

I think this novel is based on your preference on the personality of the MC. Some people would like this type of "internally comedic/opposite" but cold exterior MC however some would disagree.
In my opinion it's pretty good if you're just looking for a light read and not to delve too much into the specifics of world building etc because if you are then you'll be a little disappointed with the outcome.
The translator is also on some crack seeing as he bulk releases every day so you won't be left on a 1 chapter cliffhanger, massive respect to him or her.

edit : the translation has slowed down recently, seems like it's 1 chapter per 2 days now for whatever reason.

TLDR: Imagine an Unfinished story but has an "Ending" can you imagine that?! Lol. Don't read this. It's not worth it. Seriously don't!

I love the start but once my interest dwindles, I knew I should've dropped this! I forced myself through it all hoping it would get better but didn't, it got worse and worse until I finished it and felt like I was scammed of my time. This story is no different than unfinished story but author forced to end it. It ended but not finished. This story reminds me of TCF specifically with how MC gain his powers. It started really great and very interesting but got really boring midway. The author spent so much time writing arcs about side characters which I am not really interested about and it is incredibly boring. I had hoped for author to focus on the MC rather than writing long arcs about side characters that never appears again in the story. I remember reading the arc where MC goes to a Orphanage, it has about 15+ chapters in it and the title of the arc was "Encounter" in which MC supposedly going to meet a certain important character but then the author decided to tell a slice of life story about kids on the orphanage and after MC 'encountered' the person he's supposed to meet the kids that was focused on the whole time and I thought to be important characters was thrown aside and never mentioned anymore.

There's also a part of the story where it feels like it was a blend of oil and water— it's the fact that MC was depicted and regarded as some kind of "Lord" and a higher being but then the MC always do simple things by himself, he could've just ordered someone to do the menial works like 'going to adventurers guild to hire someone' or 'buying something' he could have just ordered it to his butler but MC does it for no logical reasoning and thanks to this he often meets troubles that could have been avoided. This part is also another complaint for the writing of the story in which "Coincidences" occur too-f*cking-much, there's so much coincidences in the story without any logic behind it.

MC looks really cool and badass at first, but near end MC didn't feel like a main character anymore. MC felt like a third wheel in the story. Adding to the fact that MC felt overpowered at the beginning but MC is a weakling in the middle of the story until the end. This is a great story but written in an infuriating manner and author explored all the uninteresting parts of the story, whereas the one I am really curious about was left alone and never explored. 2 chapters before the ending, author decided to input some forced backstory about a certain character, author probably felt like he forgot to give character depth to the character so he decided to add some backstory to that character before letting her die. This seriously infuriated me of how dumb this story has become.
Spoiler

Main reason I continued this until the end was that author leaves so many parts that I thought would be dabbled on later in the story, there's just so much potential. Things like how MC fails to kill a Mage (someone who made readers really angry) and author make it look like the MC will kill him later in the story but that never happened, like how a certain interesting girl that seems to have feelings for the MC and says they'll meet again later but they never appear again, like how MC saved an alchemist so later the alchemist will pay back the MC, and several characters author spent time to create character depth never appeared in the story again etc. So many things left untouched, so much foreshadowing was wasted. Author should've just axe this whole story rather than forcing this garbage down the readers throat. The ending doesn't have any proper logic anymore, author just bullsh*t his way to end the story.

Making it look like as if it was finished product in order to deceive the readers to read it was just the worst and vile.
[collapse]

Also, don't expect any single bit of romance here. The 'late romance' tag doesn't amount to anything. It's a lie. Plot: 1/5
Concept: 3/5
Characters: 4/5
Enjoyment: 1-4/5 (4/5 at start, 2/5 at middle, 1/5 at ending)
Translation: 3/5
Overall: 2/5

I really want to give this garbage a 1-star so bad, but I don't wanna give score with no basis.

The Author is only thinking of female characters. Every new characters that are being introduced are all female. Wtf. Is the Author deprives of girls or what? That's why he used this novel to tell his lack of charm towards opposing gender? I mean don't get me wrong, it's just that dude it's giving me thing that the Author wanted him to have a harem or something. I want some male characters too!

if you love misunderstanding novels this will be the perfect one for you, since the MC although ''weak'' has an increadible cheat, think of this a better version of ''in another with instant death'' since for now it doesn't have any annoying side characters but it could change, I hope not

Edit:as of chapter 33 the story became bland and lost it's charm, since misunderstanding novels require a certain level of detail and mutiple POV to work but this is just ''MC wanted to go there so went there and did... more>> this and that, t's too much barebones to even become entertaining so I dropped it <<less

Started off strong with a killer setting and narrative, gaining massive popularity. Sadly, the writer's chronic illness, serial chaos, and dragged-out development led to a rushed, unsatisfying ending. The foreshadowing? Left hanging like thrown rice cakes. From Gapjil to Illusion, Youngji to Warrior Training, it all clumsily wrapped up with a sudden twist, earning loads of bad reviews.

Supposed to be way longer with more arcs, but the author's health forced it into a quick and forced conclusion. —Info from the wiki and Korean reviews.

A really boring read. Author seems to introduce new characters just for the sake of it without any further development, of course the same goes for the main character except for his new powers. At first plot appears to be promising but characters together with the world which MC got transported to are uninteresting. Part of the story is a repeated "travel somewhere, meet somebody, go to the dungeon, gain new power" about 4 times. Over 70 chapters and it looks like something starts to happen but I just don't... more>> care anymore as it failed to grab me in so many ways. I tried it because it's got good ratings however I find this web novel to be particularly bland and easily forgettable. <<less

MC is not really op. like someone from SL. He's particularly weak against mage type enemies, shield, long range and speed.
Spoiler

especially with ice and fire type magic. Fire will burn his blood and ice will just trap him unless he's lucky enough to get close for contact and kill his opponent.

As times goes by the battle is more on cooperation between lords to defeat the enemy rather than solo. Except for the hero

[collapse]

I read the reviews saying he could just ask for handshake. Why would an enemy or hostile one go for a handshake during a battle? Unless it's centered around politics, formalities, and two faced nobles. I give a passed if it's in Santea and kill someone from other faction using handshake but no. They're in Calderic and the REAL enemy is the devils. Why would a devil handshake you? They shake your soul. Also why would he kill the overlord when he knows she's crucial against the war with the devils and risk the falling out with other lords?
Spoiler

unless he knows she's gonna ditch them during the war just because she's curious about the hero's sword

[collapse]

All I can say is the MC is sane, weak and a scammer not some arrogant bastard killer who's head got big like light yagami or other MC who's on trampling spree just because they have strength and power.

I read it till the ending with mtl. And I'm waiting for the side story if there's any. I have a lot of unanswered question like
Spoiler

1. Where did the overlord go missing again? 2. Just what is with the 3rd Lord? 3. Where will the 4th Lord go? There's 3 vacancy for the lords position now. 4. What will happen to Calderic since the overlord ditch them? 5. About someone who got the speed mystery and Elica 6. And Caan!!!

[collapse]

I take off one star since I don't like the MC's choice in the ending
Spoiler

more specifically, the other self the god. Like seriously??? He finally got what he wants then, he let go? What the hck man. I also don't like how the author made it look like they're two completely different entity with the same name not soul. And how irresponsible the godMC is towards Caan life. (Like someone who wants a fish pet to live in his aquarium but not take care of it, or someone who wants a pencil but not needing it and proceeds with a ballpen (which I believe is Asher lol). a poor pencil caan stuck in a pencil case)

Don't get me wrong it's not like I hate Asher with MC. I've been rotting for them since in elrod forest. I just hate the fact that there could be more with Caan and MC but got separated because of a different situation. I also hate that MC had Asher but Caan had no one just like the previous hero all alone with no one to lean on. And I hate that MC had no memories of the previous regression so he choose a ballpen he had memories with. I wish it all never happened. I wish that Caan and MC had no connection in the first place. I hate that the other half of MC the god's driving force to repeatedly reverses time is Caan but he let go at the end, like why are you fighting for all this time? What are you satisfied with? Just because Caan is alive? Why can't you just be satisfied with Caan being dead and resting in peace. Why bother the dead? Because you miss her and you're lonely? Well, the living Caan now is lonely are you satisfied? He's satisfied because Caan live. I can't understand him, maybe it's because I'm only a lowly being and he is god lol

Okay I'm gonna end it here although I still have many things to say about GodMC i feel like this review will be full of me ranting

I have a lot of problems with this novel.

Fist of all the way author writes: Arc starts with MC looking for some ability and he either gets it or finds out someone else already took it. The problem with this is that author finds it necessary to write about 5-10 chapter arc even if MC doesn't find the skill and he gets nothing from the journey.

On the same topic author writes long side quest kind of arcs that have nothing to do with the main story. For example: ... more>>
Spoiler

MC gets hurt because of some fire skill and even though he has regeneration skill he spends about a month in some random church to heal and all this time he is staying there we get some random kids' PoV even though we care nothing about them and they are probably never gonna appear again.

[collapse]

Next Mc's abilities:

Starting with instant kill skill, it's an ability to kill someone as long as MC o part his body makes physical contact with them. He uses blood magic to make his blood touch enemy so he doesn't have to himself and that is fine. However my problem lies with the lack of creativity with how MC uses this skill. He could just spit on enemy and it would kill them, but for some reason author doesn't even acknowledge the existence of saliva. Don't ask me why, MC just never tries whether his ability works with any other kind of "contact" and decides it only applies to his blood. Because skill description is very vague. All it says is that to use this skill MC has to make contact with someone. So would it work with eye contact? Don't know, MC never tries it.

Spoiler

Second note-worthy skil is super regeneration. At the beginning we get to know that it works better than best potion MC can get. It can regenerate whole limbs in less than a day. However for some reason later MC has to lie in bed for weeks because skill can't regenerate some small internal injury even though it healed much worse things earlier on.

Another skill is super sensory. It's a skill that author sometimes just forgets that MC has. It enhances his senses, however as I said it sometimes works and other times doesn't.

[collapse]

Tags say it's a harem but as of now we only met one girl that has an interest in MC, however MC is dense so there probably won't be any development any time soon.

About the characters, there are some that simply believe that MC is not gonna kill them and pick a fight with him.
Spoiler

For example MC kills one of the lords even though it is forbidden. Now a person with average intelligence would think that if he didn't hesitate once he won't for the second time. However characters here simply don't get that.

[collapse]

Overall I got tired of reading this novel because of how much side quests there is for no reward. Like really just one plot-twist would be nice, but there is nothing like that. <<less

It's readable, but why does the main character have to be so dumb? He literally has a game breaking ability but fails to create strategies to use it. Maybe go to a boss that has a start up and kill it before it wakes up. Maybe ask the overlord for a handshake and then kill her with the handshake. He uses 0 creativity and seems to only use it in situations where it's incredibly obvious and relies on plot armor for the rest.

Worth reading until Chapter 168, the author started writing like his family was held hostage from that point on and rushed to end the story out of nowhere. It was such a garbage development that I would rather the novel be axed than end like this. Many characters got wasted and a lot of potential arcs gone, it's like 100-200 chapters got skipped over.

The novel was going fine and I was loving it, the worldbuilding was nice and interesting, characters were cool, then it just happened like a bolt out... more>> of the blue. Everything went to the tr*shcan, its like someone replaced the author and started writing a fanfic.

I'm still giving it 4 stars since the novel was good for me until then, but anything past 168 is not worth it. I don't even wanna acknowledge it as the ending. I'm just gonna pretend the author dropped it at that point and forget all about it. <<less

From the start, I fell in love with the story.
This novel is one of the first that gave the protagonist a unique ability but with a good disadvantaged.
It is well-balanced, and the protagonist does not win the fights because of a whim of luck.
The story will also immerse you in an amazing well build world with a good backstory and an "ok" ending.

The author had a clear plan from the start what the start middle and sub-ending arcs should be, but the ending was just a picture of what would look like.

The ending arc was short in comparison to the other arcs of the story and there were some weird points that would question you, why was there a need to add them if they didn't play a part in the story, and in the end only added in the questions that were not answered.

I would love if we had an after ending arc to see what would the protagonist do with those questions.

There is a scene where girl knight under MC fights death duel with a guy and MC promises that he won't interfere infront of Emperor and Overlord but he brokes it. That part broke mc's character and the world setting where promises are important. It just put me off that just to save that girl, author broke mc's character and that scene didn't seem necessary to me and author could have wrote it in different way. Disappointed that many author doesn't consider character's personality when they make them act for... more>> plot <<less

I give this a 3/5.

I really enjoyed the first half, which would have a much higher rating. A strong misunderstood character is a good concept. I loved the running around getting new powers, and having conflicts with other Lords. Unfortunately the second half is much worse. The involvment of demons and the hero/successor drags the story down (once he gets teleported to the abbey basically.) School arc is interesting, but out of place in this sort of novel. It reads more like the beginning of a thousand other stories.

Unfortunately the... more>> author has health issues, and had to rush through and finish the story, so many threads and plotlines get dropped as the author speedruns to completion. <<less

What a beautiful world, what a wonderful story, what a shame it ended like that. From the start this novel wasnt gonna be a life changing experience, however even for a tr*sh novel to read on your free time, the ending simply leaves you extremely unsatisfied.

Had a lot of fun reading this one. Its a very typical transported into a game kind of novel where the MC has a cheat that makes him strong (but actually not too strong a lot of people counter him). After the first few rough chapters the story really gets you hooked and it feels like the author thought out the whole plot before even beginning to write the novel. Unfortunately it seems like the author got sick and decided to rush the last 30 or so chapters in a... more>> really fast pace which means a lot of important plot points are only touched upon briefly and there is no filler (but the ending still makes sense and could have been really satisfying if only there were a few more chapters).

I really hope the author will decide to rewrite the ending one day. If he ever decides to write a new story I will definitely look into it because I really like his writing style. <<less
