Great novel overall. It's mostly a story of politics wrapped around a romcom; also with an antiquity-themed fantasy setting. I will say that the political maneuverings aren't half-assed. They are relatively well thought out (though this isn't Game of Thrones or anything). The fantasy elements are pretty bare-bones. This is a very soft magic system setting. There's not that much explaination on its intricacies. I think some fantasy races exist, but I'm only half sure tbh, because they aren't really relevant.

The romcom elements are cute overall if somewhat angsty or contrived at times. As usual you have a lack of communication and a dense protagonist. Though this denseness is in part born of paranoid distrust of the FL who he thinks is potentially out to mu*der him, so you have some excuse for it. Not a harem though, so that's a nice change.

There is also some action in the story but very sparse. The MC fights like two times for real so far. He's a competent enough fighter but not particularly strong in the grand scheme of things. And there are also a couple of war scenes where he isn't present. Though those aren't given much detail as to the individual combat but more so some tactical details. It... more>> also doesn't seem like the type of setting where individual fighters can take on armies or anything (well maybe demons, which do exist, but they aren't really being directly confronted yet at this point).

The hook, tho a bit basic and not really that original, got me in, so its got that going for it. Basically, the basic "look what its going to happen in over anywhere between 100 to 1000 chapters from now, got your atention, right? Now lets start from where it all began"

If theres anything else to note about it is that the translator website has the tendency of picking some stuff up and dropping it if... honestly, idk why. Not enough engagement? The translation guy got bored? Or the novel itself deemed itself not up to the standards of the translator? Who knows. Anyway, what im trying to say is keep expectation at a minimum cuz we might not get back to the events happening in the first ch, assuming that itself aint the end of the novel <<less

The story is quite enjoyable. So far, the focus is more on political intrigue, but Devian (the MC) and the Empress' relationship is slowly developing and is looking promising. Sadly, the translation on readingpia got taken down due to a request from the original author to the translator due to the author having an exclusive contract with Nobelphia. Hopefully there will be an official translation available at some point because it would be a shame if this story was forever inaccessible to English readers.

As of the Current chapter this novel is very good. The Main Character isn’t shown to be the most powerful character but is shown to be very intelligent and manipulative. There thankfully doesn’t seem to be a Harem so far which is very good considering that it just wouldn’t fit in this story.
