I Became the Legendary Emperor Throughout the Ages After I Started Giving Away My Territory

Lin Beifan traversed to a world filled with countless nations and masters, becoming the emperor of a nation with the “Empire Sandbox” as his golden finger (Cheat).

This “Empire Sandbox” allowed him to mobilize all domestic resources for rational allocation. The stronger the nation became, the stronger he became.

In order to become stronger, Lin Beifan did many things that seemed foolish to others.

“Your Majesty, the Mo Kingdom is willing to trade the most beautiful woman in their kingdom for an iron mine!”

Lin Beifan: “The Mo Kingdom is truly sincere. Let’s trade!”

As a result, after the Mo Kingdom acquired the iron mine, it collapsed, burying 200,000 troops!

“Your Majesty, the Grand General intends to stage a rebellion!”

Lin Beifan: “I admire those with ambition. Let him fight!”

As a result, the Grand General’s food supply vanished into thin air. His army starved to death on their way to the Capital City, never making it to battle.

In the end, Lin Beifan walked further and further down the path of a foolish emperor, yet the territory kept expanding, the country became stronger, and his harem grew increasingly…

Everyone was dumbfounded: “How did such an incompetent ruler become the legendary emperor throughout the ages?”

It's exactly what it says on the tin. This is a popcorn novel that doesn't tackle heavy topics or have a deep plot. I had a wonderful time reading it. Only takes a few chapters to see the whole gimmick and if you like it it's worth reading all the way through. Nothing much really changes, the scale just gets bigger and bigger. The author mercifully ends the story right before it would have jumped the shark and veered into the realm of the ridiculous. The ending comes suddenly too... more>> and finishing it would leave you with a feeling of "that's it??". But it is a natural stopping point.

Translation quality is good and there were no points where it confused me. Perfect novel for reading during downtime. You don't have to bother remembering any names outside the MC and harem and just ignore the cultivation mumbo jumbo, they're just generic cultivation BS. Wish the author explored more of the kingdom building and uplift aspect but his cheat is so powerful its really irrelevant. <<less

A decent casual read. It’s funny enough for me to follow through with the story.

However, you really need to turn your brain off while reading this story. The story flow is quite obvious, more like a wish fulfillment one lacking substances, but it’s still quite fun. The characters are mostly brain dead, the MC is like a scheming cold blooded villain who could care less about bloodshed as long as it’s not in his country but pretending to be goofy and foolish in front of his close companions. I... more>> also cringed at several interactions between the MC and his female companions who are easily tricked by him as well as the propaganda: casually mentioning China (in a world that never mentioned the existence of that country lol) and subtlety (or not) backing Chinese agenda (especially with religion). But I accept that perhaps that’s what’s needed for this story to be accepted in China.

Overall, not a bad story to kill time but nothing special. <<less

This is a 3 star novel I'm rating 5 purely for the blistering speed it's being translated. When other novels give you a decent 1 chapter a day this novel is spitting out 4 or 5 a day (when you take into account they split the chapters in half it's like 8-9). Given that it's also good quality I felt I needed to give them some sort of rewards after all that hard work.

In terms of the actual novel it's a decent wish fulfillment novel. Don't expect any hardship for... more>> the protagonist, his cheat ensures his national power is always the strongest and his personal power is always strong enough. If you want enjoyable junk food this is good enough.

The protagonist has a cheat that makes him essentially omnipotent within his country, he can move resources (mines, natural disasters etc) at a thought and use his personal power anywhere within his boarders like a god. As his country gets stronger his system grants him OP cultivation skills and levels up his cultivation automatically. So you get this cycle where a rival nation invades, get decimated, then with their army wiped out get counter invaded, he gets more land resources therefore gets stronger through system, a stronger country tries the same thing repeat.

A plus is that the novel is decently funny at times and doesn't take itself too seriously. The protagonist is aware of how broken his cheat is and uses it to meme on his adversaries regularly.

There is also some enjoyable kingdom building aspect outside of combat but again it's too shallow to be anything more than good, decent.

There is a harem, the female protagonist are generally not very important except of a couple of exceptions that actually contribute a decent amount. Nothing groundbreaking for a CN novel.

All on all nice junk food to fill the time. Excellent translator worthy of praise. <<less

Pretty good read. Not much discrimination happening and fun to read. This book is suited for fun reading. Don't take some stuff seriously because some of the characters are s*upid at times. MC is ok, not that smart nor conniving. He gets his goal with his cheat and fighting some not smart enemies. Like I said, its good to read for fun and entertainment.

I didn't see any reason to read further in the novel because the same formula was used 4 times in a row and I wasn't interested in continuing with the story.

Step 1: Act recklessly because he has system powers

Step 2: Everyone thinks he's s*upid

... more>> Step 3: He's underestimated and somehow profits from his "misfortune"

I guess for some people this is a fun read, but I thought it was going to be about an intelligent MC who has history knowledge and is able to build a strong kingdom with interesting characters. Turns out it's just a comedy/gag type of novel.

TL;DR: Light, fun read for some people. Zero depth for others seeking more.

Note: Good translator <<less

It is not the best web novel out there but you can definitely indulge yourself in it after doing your work. There is no tension in the story so good for those people who don't want to experience emotional rollercoaster. It also provides chuckle from time to time. Sometimes it gets repetitive but within acceptable range.

Decent. It's not bad but it's not a masterpiece either.

There are few forced plots and braindead enemies but it was okay and ending was quite satisfying. It isn't needlessly extended and it ended before MC became too strong with his op system.

Good point is it's a funny novel, no disgusting kind nationalism and there are no nations or sects that are black or white. Everything is presented as having their own interests.

People say an author can't create a character smarter than the author himself so while the MC is okay,... more>> few people just seems so s*upid idk.

All in all you shouldn't think too deeply about the character logic or ideas and I think you can really enjoy this novel as a funny novel and an entertaining read. <<less

No suspense, thrill, or danger. MC hangs out at home, and uses his OP system to play god.

Half of the book is that s*upid thing CN novels do, where the "netizens" (in this case, nameless bystanders) react like they're commenting on a forum. But nothing he does is impressive. He just uses his system to instakill giant armies, take their stuff, and then "upgrade" with every bullsh*t martial art you can think of.

I have long been corrupted by different novels of varying quality of translations or story/plot. So take take my opinion as you see fit.

I praise the translation of this novel, they do a good job adding translator notes to appropriately explain this, theres not much spelling or grammar issues to complain about and I can read it fine without having a headache. That is a good enough reason to keep reading.

Story wise, it’s exactly as any OP protag story, but it’s atleast interesting enough that I binge read it without... more>> feeling the need to drop the story. The story is as the synopsis and title describes, the MC makes odds decision but the author atkeast has enough confidence to give reasoning for them, trying to create a story that a reader can follow. The reasons are also understandable enough to make sense in the fantasy setting.

I myself find the story interesting and funny, good for bing reading and casual fun. It has enough fun and plot to be engaging but also not be cringey like many sub par stories. The MC has smarts and the side characters are decent enough to mesh with the MC’s character.

You may say, “how can other nations see what”s going and not react correctly?”. Well I say to that, would you believe someone could split the earth in the real world? No you would think they are s*upid and ignore them, thinking they are crazy. Well the people in this novel has the exact reason to do so. Also have you seen a nation in the real world act with decisiveness to things? Look out how countries in the real world act, and say your opinions after.

We have the hindsight to know the whole story, the other characters in the novel only see what they can see and will react to what is normal to them. Many gets suspicious, and many react, but hey how do you react to someone saying they can rip a move a mountain? It”s also an OP MC story, what do you expect to happen? A dragon ball Z story where the MC lose and gets stronger and repeat? Nah bruh.

Overall, it’s a good OP novel, acceptable pace, story line you can follow, good humour that isn’t cringey and an MC that is OP but has enough personality to carry themself like a human being. <<less

This novel is like a oil spill.

It goes everywhere but is only 1 inch deep.

The system is too OP, the doubting side characters run through the same “oh no this is terrible, foolish emperor” to “heaven has blessed the emperor” dialogue time and time again.

We see neighboring countries opinions like it’s a Weibo chat, mirroring the same comments that the doubting side characters give.

All in all, this novel is like an oil spill.

It goes everywhere but is only 1 inch deep.

This was a very entertaining read, it wasn't perfect obviously. I understand the bad reviews and I do think in general that the MC is to OP and most characters don't have a brain. However I think it's fun as long as you don't take it seriously.

Pros

    • Quirky MC (Super OP)
    • Fast Paced for the most part
    • Quick Updates, good Translation
    • MC is not Brain Dead
    • Decently funny interactions between characters
    • A character said "Let him cook" at some point
Cons

    • Wins to easily (OP, but it's fine imo)
    • All side Characters are kinda Slow
    • The MCs upgrades are kinda boring and repetitive
    • The plot is repetitive at times
    • The Descriptions for Characters as usual are kinda basic
    • I tried to make a doodle map of the world and it made no sense!
Kingdom Building Novel that has characters with actual personality (for the most part). If you got time, I think it's a fun read to kill time.

The only redeemable quality of this novel is that it is translated quickly. Just note that this novel will give you brain rot.

I am not even going to bother describing this piece of work, because it is the essence of what is wrong with Chinese web novels these days. Go read "Top Tier Providence, Secretly Cultivate for a Thousand Years" if you want something that actually has substance whilst still imbuing the power fantasy these types of stories m*sturbate for.

Also, if you are still looking for more of this derivative... more>> trite, just go to webnovel. Com and peruse the endless collection, because it seems excessive national censorship and a focus on word count has made most Chinese web novels dung heaps. Some good ones still exist, but by God is it a task to find them.

I suppose there's a reason Korean novels dominate this platform now. <<less

Lots of potential but bad execution. I will give you an example, MC is a new ruler and as the usual troupe it mention traitorous subordinate. He got a system where he can see his whole kingdom, so he should be able to see what his subordinate doing or planning. But no, MC only say if you don't agree I will fire you then that's it as simple as that.

I will exclude the one dimensional female characters, what I really hate is the plot armour in this series

He can move the iron mine then it bury 200k enemy soldier. I can somewhat accept that, maybe the earth become hollow then collapse. But wtf happen when he fight war against 400k soldier, create an earthquake that swallow the enemies soldier. No, there is no resource there, he can control all things in his territory it seem. Dude just become invincible, start war, earthquake rinse and repeat. Why even bother

The story is nice.

the MC develops in a low-key manner, never revealing his cultivation skills until he achieves peak power within his surrounding enemies.

Essentially, the MC focuses on developing and expanding the kingdom while collecting subordinates. His system is of a sandbox type, initially providing comprehensive data on the country's resources like mines, arable land, mountains, and seas, enabling him to monitor the entire country.

... more>> The system upgrades as the MC's kingdom meets certain conditions, granting him rewards for increasing national power.

These upgrades include control over underground and land resources, moving inanimate objects, controlling the weather, managing animals, and eventually, teleporting humans. These abilities are unlocked progressively. <<less

I finished this novel today. It's a pretty okay novel and it's gem if you're bored.

Contrary to the title the main character doesn't give away land after the initial chapters. And contrary to the initial chapters the MC is no longer known as a foolish ruler.

The MC has a harem but it's not that noticeable at times.

Overall good to read if you're bored, nothing too deep. The mc's system ... more>>

literally makes him like a god at the end. He can control all the resources, land, animals, people and it's op af.

The novel ends and the author doesn't make it a cash cow unlike other novels and ends it when he feels like it's enough. The ending is pretty anticlimactic.

The translation was mid. Nothing too good or bad, I spotted a few mistakes but there's nothing major.

3/5 and 5/5 if you're bored. <<less

Rated 5 stars for the translator. Would rate 3.5 stars for the novel. (Amazing novel but I can only recommend to those who want some light-hearted fun, where you can just close your mind and enjoy. This is for those who are bored of the anti-hero/villainous/dark trope but still don't want to read a pure hero story.)

Well, I mostly only read completed novels (free ones). Recently many of the webnovels that I have read either make it too convoluted or too dark. The MC is anti-hero, idiot or a... more>> villain and the themes are all dark or just boring harem. It is even more difficult to find a good system novel. (I don't read female lead novels because from their summary they all have a mysterious male CEO who supports them, which I find boring. I rather have strong female leads like the one in the naruto fan-fic - Goddess of Ice Reborn as Naruto's Twin Sister) - Aannnyyywaaayyyy

However, this novel is a breath of fresh air for me. The MC is just fun, not an idiot (though the world is a bit) but it is not outright s*upid (maybe to some). This means that I can close of my mind and just immerse in the novel and not find it illogical. There is some genuine interaction between the girls and the MC (not all, and certainly not for the first one) and they are not at all monotonous. There is also the fun empire building. (As a civil engineer, I hated the cement house building part and the lack of utilities thereof.) I also love that the author uses a trope and then only uses it twice more, in a fun way and then he just does not use it again and shows something fresh.

The power increase also ensures that I am never tense or worried - again goes to my fun novel part. The author has made it such that I know the ending but not how it will be and I enjoy the reactions - again close off my mind and enjoy part. The cheat is there to be used and without it being a lot, the author has ensured that it does not become the only factor in the novel.

The harem, well, yeah... not much to say. It is about a king. He just marries some for politics and some he liked. Not too much focus on them. I would have loved a chapter of smut every 50 or so chapters though but its fine if it is not there. There is also none of the s*upid young master/young prince stuff except for one which was handled beautifully.

I also thoroughly loved the demon arc and how the MC made use of him and the slow descent of the taoist sect competitor into madness, the pacing was amazing.

The overall pace of the novel is amazing. There are some boring chapters here and there.

Despite such a good review, I would still only rate it at 3.5 stars out of 5. The reason being that this is a novel for those who are bored of the anti-hero/villainous/dark trope but not wanting to read a pure hero story. For those who are new to webnovels or those who are still reading the wuxia/xianxia chinese translated ones, I would not recommend this novel. It would be a run-of-the-mill novel for them.

Why would I rate this 5 stars then? Simply because of the translator. I cannot support him on kofi but I sure hope he reads this and can get my thanks. Amazing job translating this. I have only subconsciously found two mistakes in the chapters till now, btw, chapter 359 means almost 680 chapters released. I am waiting for the novel to end. Based on the translation speed, it should end within 10 days from this review date. <<less

So, I read Corrupt Official (made by the same author) first and checked his other works. All his MC has the same name. I read this and they have the same exact formula. Literally, oh MC is foolish, this country is doomed. Then, omg maybe MC is actually the son of god. They even have the same stuff. If you read Corrupt Official

Spoiler

MC has a system that makes him stronger for doing his thing.

There's the female character who first meets MC, becomes devoted, and sleeps with him everyday probably.

A little sister-like character who's a martial arts expert and bickers with MC.

There's the cement bit where he makes cement houses and other countries tries to copy but fails.

The bit where he gaslights a sword expert and saber expert with the power of bs.

[collapse]

It reads the exact same with Corrupt Official, idk if it's the same with author's other works. So if you read that, you can expect the same shenanigans. If you've never read it, it might be a fun read for you, but dont expect anything serious or profound. <<less

Okay so the premise is that he grows stronger with the increase in land and resources (like population, military strength and money)

And the actual cheat is, that he doesn't get weaker if he looses the progress in conquering he's made

Hence the title, he captures the place grows stronger and then gives it back... Giving him time and resources to consolidate his strength and the nations too

His cheat is actually so op that its crazy, he can move resources like mines and then later on basically everything in his country... more>> using his system.... Bros undefeatable in his own country

If you guys notices, the story kind of has some similarities to the one about official growing stronger by being a corrupt official..... Not much but it's clear that this author took heavy inspiration from it

Translation is op tho

I sincerely thank the translator for keeping it going and with such quality <<less

It's predictable from the beginning. The one main issue that I hate about this is that it treats the world as idiots. Everyone else not in the kingdom has an IQ debuff and no one sees the results that the MC has produced, not even some of the officials in his court see it. While it does make sense for the uneducated working class to not fully comprehend it, there's bound to be more than a few people in several million who can see the results and then backtrack to... more>> find the logic. Nonetheless, it's an entertaining novel to kill time but only 3/5 in terms of a quality read. <<less

What makes kingdom building novels good is the cunning and ingenuity of the protagonist to defy all odds and win in the end.

The author knows that but he's not clever enough to write that, so the protagonist here just has an automatic win button that he presses every few chapters. There's no build-up, no challenges, no clever writing. And because the protagonist treats it like a game, he acts like a psycho without repercussions
