Haanhaan's review downplays how bad the TL actually is.

The review box should be used to review the story, not the translation, but the translation is so awful that it's distracting.

Let's see - typos and mistakes litter every single chapter, but you know what, that's not much of an issue. I can grit my teeth and continue reading, but the dialogue is a jumbled mess, the story switches from present tense to past tense, and, as if that wasn't enough, it also switches from first person to third person.

The story itself seems to be interesting, especially if you're into the genre, but this needs some heavy editing and profreading. You can easily tell that no one proofread this before it went public. This is the umpteenth case where a TL chucks a story through a translator and is like 'Yep, another day of honest hard work.'

I don't want to offend anyone, but I swear, every time I see a moderately interesting novel, and then I see that it's GalaxyTL who's translating it, I feel my stomach dropping. I feel bad for calling out the TL, but a potentially interesting story is being butchered with bad translation and they're trying to make money out of it as well.

The only positive is that at least they're updating lightning fast. But is it worth the trade-off of sacrificing quality?

I'll try to keep reading. If it gets better, I'll either delete the whole thing and apologize, or edit it accordingly.

Edit: The TL has gone over every chapter and edited them. The quality has drastically increased and it has finally become something worth reading. The difference is like that of heaven and earth.

I apologize for my previous review. I hope the quality won't suddenly plummet going forward. I'll eventually add another edit with a proper review of the story.

Honestly really enjoyable. While I can't discount the other reviews, in fact they probably were accurate, the TL'er has made distinct efforts to go back and fix errors. I just read all 94 chapters in a row, and I can see some comments on various issues, but ALL those issues had already been fixed by the time I read it.

So translation errors/readability aside, I just actually love the story. The MC gets s**ked into a 'bonsai game' - which is a term i've never heard before, but I literally PLAY... more>> three of those games right now at the same time lmao - and he's basically using is F2P-honed knowledge to get ahead. That's where it starts at least. The MC is very hardworking, and while he does use his knowledge to his advantage (all the time, actually), his strength is real, and based upon his own efforts. He managed to use an item to artificially upgrade his sword skills, but it quickly comes out that he's... well... novice at using them. So he actually trains to make them his own.

Aside from his abilities and cheat skills, I just also really like him. He's a genuinely good guy, and he's, well not overjoyed, but the game he transferred into is literally his one passion in life. So he's actually very happy and driven, and more importantly, driven to make everyone else happy! (see what I did there!!) So anyway, he's a good guy, and wants all the girls around him to be happy for their own sakes. And obviously, because this is a harem novel lol, that leads people falling for him. I mean, seriously. He's strong (unnaturally so for a 'male' in that world), kind, and devoted to the people around him and making them happy. It's honestly no wonder how things turn out!

One thing I want to throw out there though, is as of now (c94) he is in no way romantic. I honestly expect there to be problems in the future when he has to actually divorce his emotions about his favorite game heroines, with the real life versions around him. I can't quite call him 'dense', but they're falling in love with him and he's not really at all. That being said, the romance is actually incredibly low-key and slow burn. Can't even really call it romance to be honest - he's just being kind and helping them, and they're having to rearrange their world views because of a male that's not super pathetic and weak. I'd even go so far as to say it's more like the suspension bridge effect: he's uprooting their views and making their lives better, all without romantic intentions, and so they might be 'falling' in love... or just feeling like it. Not really sure to be honest, but let's be real, because of the genre and the nature of the game he's in, I'm 100% sure it'll be harem.

Ironically enough, one of the girls hilariously jokes that they should name the party the 'reverse harem' because it's 1 guy and multiple girls, which is a hilarious bit of reversion from the normal.

I do really like all the heroines so far. Honestly the only thing I don't like (not that I hate it) is that because basically ALL the characters of this world are female, that ALSO means the s*upid one-note mindless antagonists are also female. It's just odd to me to see an absolute moron of a henchmen... be a woman. I guess I do have some inherent biases!

But anyway, for all that the romance is really slow, the plot isn't, and I really do enjoy this. Give it a read! <<less

This novel had the potential to be something much more, but it's completely squandered by poor writing and an even worse translation. It's disappointing to see such a high rating because it feels misleading—this is a below-average novel with a translation that makes reading it a frustrating experience. Sure, I've encountered worse translations before, but this one still left me with a lingering headache and a deep sense of frustration.

One of the biggest issues is how the protagonist gets s**ked into the game world as a weak character, only to... more>> instantly receive upgrades through his in-game inventory within a single chapter. This power-up feels completely unearned, robbing the story of any real tension or growth. While it's nice that he has to learn how to use his new abilities and adjust to his physical body, that's about the only redeeming part. The rest feels like a lazy shortcut.

On top of that, the way he interacts with the female leads is just plain s*upid. His attempts to get close to them are poorly thought out and lack any charm or realism. It's frustrating to see so many elements in the story that could have been explored, but they're simply glossed over or wasted.

I don't mind the harem genre, but this one is particularly grating. The novel introduces characters with backstories but fails to give them any real depth or intelligence. Every character is forgettable, as their motivations and personalities feel shallow. The protagonist is supposed to be mysterious, but his actions and decisions lack any sense, making it hard to connect with or understand him. His motivation is barely explained, and the combat scenes feel mediocre at best. The author doesn't know how to tell a suspenseful or thrilling story—this would've worked better as a mid-tier slice of life.

Overall, the novel feels like a missed opportunity, like so many other novels on this site. <<less

This story, while showing initial promise, is fundamentally undermined by its protagonist and the author's writing approach.

1. Lack of Narrative Seriousness

The author consistently undermines potentially meaningful scenes by converting them into forced comedy. Virtually every serious moment is interrupted by the protagonist's ill-conceived attempts at humor. This persistent comedic intervention prevents any genuine character depth or meaningful relationship development.

This demonstrates a complete disregard for character growth, sacrificing potential character development for a cheap, predictable laugh.

2. Gratuitous Misunderstandings and Communication Breakdown

The narrative is riddled with contrived misunderstandings that could be effortlessly resolved through basic communication. Each miscommunication feels deliberately manufactured, with the author consistently preventing characters from having straightforward, honest dialogues.

Whenever characters approach a moment of potential meaningful interaction, the author either introduces an arbitrary interruption or has the protagonist deflect with an inappropriate joke. This pattern transforms potentially nuanced character interactions into frustrating mockery.

3. Protagonist's Moral Deterioration

The protagonist initially appeared promising — a seemingly kind-hearted individual who enjoyed light-hearted teasing. However, as the story progresses, the author gradually erodes the character's initial sympathetic qualities, replacing them with increasingly callous and self-serving behaviors.

It appears the author struggles to authentically portray a well-intentioned character, instead creating what feels like a problematic self-insert. The protagonist repeatedly commits morally questionable actions while attempting to rationalize them as well-intentioned.

During a beach episode, a dungeon explosion releases sound-sensitive monsters. The protagonist initially uses the festival crowd's screams to weaken these monsters. However, his subsequent actions reveal a rather problematic character.

When the monsters begin retreating, instead of allowing them to escape, he arbitrarily decides to farm them for resources. He neither consults his teammates nor explains his reasoning. He then coerces festival attendees into continuous screaming, effectively holding them hostage for five hours under threat of monster attack.

When confronted by a team member, his response is telling: first lying, then offering a perfunctory apology, and ultimately attempting to deflect responsibility onto his teammate.

This is the best gender-reversed world story I've read so far. The story's pacing was well-balanced, making it enjoyable to read every chapter.

However, I'm wondering if the story will have a true harem ending or not. It would be disappointing if it does not.

EDIT: Confirmed, this novel is a polygamy harem genre.

This is all the worst parts of a harem novel. It's a reverse gender world so all the women throw themselves at the MC for even less reason then a normal harem novel.

The MC was a complete loser in the real world and it shows. He acts like the world he's now in is a game, constantly talking about future events or acts really familiar with the game characters that he meets, yet no one calls him on his knowledge of everything. The misunderstandings and bad writing to force plot... more>> developments are really in your face in this one.

He's at this school for the best of the best in the world but no one exists except for the MC and his party. Everyone is just a tool to rave about how amazing or good looking the MC is. Of course he's dense beyond belief.

This novel goes beyond having to shut your brain off to read it. The MC is so insufferable that the author had to reincarnate him into a gorgeous body and a world where men are weak and few in number. He has no redeeming qualities.

at one point his party's tank is extremely depressed due to a misunderstanding, I mean life changing crap. Shes crying in bed and trying to figure out how to live now. And this MC thinks it's a good idea to let her continue with the misunderstanding because it's funny. He's a piece of ****

This story is unique, if you want a novel that manages to implement a "gender-bent world" masterfully, try it, no need to read this review further.

Now some points to discuss.

This novel has 2, 5 problems with me.

... more>> The first one is character development. It's there, definitely, it's quite pleasant to follow some girls' storylines. Unfortunately, at times it feels somewhat awkward, forced dare I say. If you choose to ignore it, not a big issue.

Then (although it's not really about the novel itself but about my reading experience) there is an annoyance that comes in the image of ads. It is impossible to read. While the translation became top tier with the addition of post editing, the ads make me unable to read on the official website. I understand that TL studio needs revenue, but the ads made me stop reading at their site before even considering to support them. And anyone capable and willing, I recommend supporting them so that others won't have to deal with that sin against humanity.

Lastly theres personal taste. That's why it's only half a point. I despise bad harem, it's not bad in this one, but it can crumble at any point.

And there's our MC... He's clishe. While there's nothing inherently bad with that, his behaviour does not strike as unique, but instead predictable. But there's saving grace posed as great world building and unique writing style.

Overall, great read so far (misunderstandings aside).

Quite good story I would say, about MC that sent into the game world.

Reverse common sense GAL game world where the male were weaker than woman in physical body, so the woman are the more dominant role in the hunting party in world where gate appears, while male mostly have support role instead.

The story itself quite the usual troupe now, gate themed, monsters and stuff, unfortunately the TL bit of a mess, like the rice soup -> soup -> Gukbap -> Soup, geebus just use the korean pronunciation.

The TL sometimes make the conversation bit confusing as you need to proofread it in your mind before understanding what they talking.

And its only 34 chapters (as this review posted) so still early to rate, as the story mainly in academy so it usually filled with filler, even the first villain's minions haven't appeared yet.

Edit: The TL fixed the translations, as for the nickname TL picked to use 'Soup' for the nickname of one of the FML, and also fixed those confusing conversation (still prefer it in Korean pronunciation for the 'Soup' *iirc 'Gukbap'*, this is just my personal preference) xD

Im alredy Gonna start by saying If you like harem academy novels this is perfect for you

the MC is really likeable he isnt one of those amazings MCs who can do anything much rather he has his own flaws for example he cant Cook (he can Cook but his tastesbuds Just suck so his good usually doesnt come good) for living HIS whole life as a gamer he has 0 dating experience and It (explains as to why hes Dense) and he sucks at naming things completely hes Also a... more>> hard working MC so

the side characters are likeable aswell and honestly Its Just a Very good Reading If u have free time Def Worth it

Honestly, I like it; for the mediocre academy harem novel genre, it's pretty good, if you want to turn off your brain and read something easy and fun I can recommend this. Plus the TL is very good too.

The heroines are well written, they all have different personality, traits and goals; they approach the MC in their on different way, reading their POV's and interactions feels as enjoyable as reading the protagonist, if I had to say they are the main attraction of the novel.

About the reversal gender role, there... more>> are small parts like the MC teasing the girls consciously or unconsciously, but that it's not the focus of the novel, so if you don't like it there's no need to worry too much.

This author has potential, definitely going to check for his new works and this one finishes.

Here's a summary of my full review-

This novel follows the popular "I became (blank) in the academy" trope, where the main character (MC) is a skilled gacha game player who gets transported into the game world. This author... can’t do math. Ex: on chapter 15. The author stated: “Every year, 10% of each class ends up in a coffin”.

So how Tf did the author concluded: “10 out of 100 students die before they graduate”

This is a very simple math problem... Assuming that college is 4 years like most Murican universities and there is 100 freshmen. So at the end of the first year, 90 people are alive. At year 2, 81. At year 3, 72.9. And right before graduation, 65.61 i.e. around 66 people graduate. So... more>> about a 34% mortality rate. That is to say at least 34% of the freshmen class will die before graduation.

Very interesting dynamic of reversed gender roles combined with interesting MC and side character. New translator is very good so if you tried this novel before but didn't like it because of the translation I'd recommend you to give it another shot since it's really good this time around. :)

For readers who want another male protagonist who accomplishes his goals in another game world, this story does it decently well.

The name of the person who is put into the game is not mentioned often, so I will refer to them as Jin Yuha, the game character that is taken over by the transmigrator. 'Jin Yuha' is transported into Velvet School Life!, a gacha game where most characters are females. Using up whatever resources is left from his game account, Jin Yuha plans to beat the game and save the... more>> world.

There will hardly be other male characters, so expect any mention of new males as villains to be defeated.

I recommend turning the brain off for better enjoyment. This story will definitely annoy readers who want a well written world with realized, deep characters fighting a dimensional invasion by demons. <<less

1) What is about?

Gacha player is s**ked to the game world that now became reality in the body of a handsome but useless male 1 star character. However he lost most of the "game mechanics" making incredible difficult to raise stats and other stuff he would gain and apply using game. However, what he had saved in his game inventory became a box filled with elixir and items that he can use to try to turn himself into good character, however after that initial boost he is on his own.

Is... more>> interesting of what part of the game is preserved in the real world and which part are adapted or complete gone. Like how rare low chance items become incredible expensive items that you could buy or how without the artificial restriction he can get in contact some characters that he couldn't otherwise.

The rest of the story is him aproaching the high star heroines and try to gather then into his party, train then and solve their personal storyline so they can be stronger.

2) Why 3 Stars?

You can already guess what you are getting yourself into with this title, some light popcorn of MC game knowledge and impossible talent solving all while having hijinks with pretty girls of different personality. And I might have give 4 for being above average in the low-bar genre. However the "genderbend morality/strenght" card is just something I personally dislike and the author implement in rather lazy way, specially after the first arc, that I'm sure is a parody as most of the ""comedy"" aspect come from it. I will more detail why is bad later, but first some good things.

I enjoyed that the MC while very strong wasn't OP enough to make even the instructor useless and need training to at least get used to suddenly surge in ability, it is in line with light hearted badass that the story tone aim for.

Another enjoyable part is how the character gacha story-line was implemented in the story, that make them more interesting than one-dimensional cardboards, sadly the author don't have the ability to apply to all of them. The snake lady is the one that is best developed and most interesting of the bunch, the rest sadly got the "speedrun" character development and become not as interesting. I would recommend the novel "kidnapping Dragons" that did it better.

Otherwise, the main plot and how the MC try to fix and avoid any negative is interesting enough. They do have some chemistry and the MC can know how to lead then around but the gender bend morals just give a weird feeling.

In theory it was almost interesting, as in-lore explanation why most gacha girls are strong if the womans in this world are stronger on average. However the author implement in the laziest way and play for laugh, that get specially grating because is literally the only thing minor character can talk about. At least the heroines don't suffer as much but as they start to orbit him the worse it get and with even the MC sometimes acting like they are a female character playing around with the love stuck males just feel weird. The MC even have the famous heroine tropes/quirk that she is pretty good at everything but her terrible cooking skill and make poison, while refusing to see how horrible her decision is. I just roll my eyes at theses moments and skip to the next scene. In fact was just ignoring it that keep me reading so far.

If you like poorly genderbent girls that act like dudes and MC that act suspicious like a female character, then you may like it more than I did. <<less
