A very interesting novel that uses history to create fun interactions between characters. Usually in political intrigue novels I always end up asking the question "Why doesn't the MC just get assassinated?" which breaks immersion. In this novel, all gloves are off! MC is gonna be dying a lot. He isn't OP though, his power comes with a debuff and he has to navigate carefully. I've also learned quite a bit about history while reading this. It really made me want to look up certain characters and read up a... more>> little bit more about them. Of course, this is fiction so creative liberties have been taken. Don't come here expecting to read a historical essay. Also, I haven't seen a single mention of the narrator telling us that the MC is a genius like other reviewers said. He's just seen as competent by the people around him, which he IS. They're not drooling over him, they're trying to use him as much as he is trying to use them. Extremely fun to read and can't wait to see where it goes! <<less

I am really having a hard time enduring the amount of chicken sucking the author keep heaping on the protagonist. Every chapter you can't get by without reading how much of a genius the protagonist is. The sucking is so bad that it reduce the mental capacities and agencies of characters that are not the protagonist.

If you enjoy works that glorify and praise the protagonist so much at the expense of the story and other characters, then this is for you

My first impression if the novel was "How convenient", I mean, someone who studied history gets send to the specific point in time he is most knowledgeable about. I thought, I this was going to be another MC knows all kind of novel.

But that was quickly debunked. The author has a great grip on what the knowledge cheat of the MC allows him to do and what not

For example he wants to create a vaccine but he doesn't know how, he knows the basic understanding of how a vaccine works, who invented it and key knowledge like how the inmune system works but he doesn't know how to develop a vaccine, what needs to be approved or how to write a medical paper.

.

Also this is a political type of novel, everyone has a hide agenda or interest, everyone uses each other and assesinations over slight disagreements are the norm, albeit in the scapegoat way.

The plot is heavily centered on the MC wanting to control his own life, and for that he needs power and influence. He does have the return from death power but it's incredible nerfed so it is not a key point of the story (there's no "things go bad, su*cide" kind of thing)

I heavily recommend it. Also chapters vary in length but in general are long and detailed, it took me 4 hours to read till c35 <<less

I read this novel up to chapter 50.

I like the pace, not too fast and not too slow. So what can I tell? The tags already explain everything from the novel.

MC got transported in the past as a non-existence prince (from previous crown prince with a normal woman). And He got a "cheat"... He can go back in time if he got killed (assassination, poison)

About the romance...

Spoiler

He got married with female lead "Marie Antoinette" at the age of 15 after diplomatic visit.

So it's a good read for the most part. There are some grammatical errors and misplaced names, but overall it develops well along there incarnated as a historical prince journey.

My only problem so far is the recent ambition to take most of north America during the American independence movement. It's completely out of left field compared to the more grounded developments so far.
Spoiler

He just got through negotiating simple alliance and peace terms and jumps to grand plans of throwing all British out of North America while still helping the 13 colonies. I could understand if he just wanted to take Canada or focus on Louisiana and the Caribbean, but wanting everything from Canada to Louisiana and everything in between seem idiotic for a guy that was killed twice over a simple diplomatic marriage

Just don't expect a lot of detailed planning or activities in this series. It's much more a fan fic about name dropping figures from the 18th and 19th century while the MC accomplishes all the resource gathering and intelligence troubles through regression or delegating in the background and then thanking the person in question for super accomplishing things for him.
