Sheng Yuan, a model student, excelled year after year, with a life motto of striving for the best and always aiming to be the first. However, fate took an unexpected turn as he found himself transported to a parallel world where school delinquency run rampant.

System: Are you ready to become the most formidable youth delinquent?

Sheng Yuan: “…”

Sheng Yuan had always been devoted to his studies, but he soon realized that only by surpassing the leader of delinquent youths could he ensure his own survival. Thus, he embarked on the path of delinquency.

Skipping classes? No problem. He would make his exit in the last five minutes of each class.

System: Hey!!!

Staying overnight in internet cafes? No problem. The evening news played throughout the night.

Internet café netizens: ???

When he received a challenge to meet in a small grove at 10:30, Sheng Yuan found himself in a difficult situation and expressed his inability to go.

Opponent: “What? Are you scared?!”

Sheng Yuan: “No, it’s just that my home has a curfew at half past ten.”

Opponent: “…”

Soon, Sheng Yuan’s became famous within the delinquent circles due to his impressive exploits, and his delinquency value skyrocketed. In the process, he even managed to lead the delinquent leader onto the right path.

Sheng Yuan: Hi, handsome, would you like to do homework together in the small grove at the back?

Yu Zuojin met Sheng Yuan during a summer filled with lush foliage and vibrant greenery.

He had a cong**ital hearing impairment and relied on a hearing aid to perceive the sounds of the outside world. Coincidentally, his hearing aid was broken when he met Sheng Yuan. He saw the youth standing under the shade of a verdant tree, and Sheng Yuan uttered a few words to him:

“I like you.”

Yu Zuojin rejected him on the spot.

Sheng Yuan: “Classmate, you dropped some money.”

Yu Zuojin: “I don’t need it.”

Sheng Yuan: ?

“In that case, it’s mine,” Sheng Yuan said. (Slips it into his pocket.)

I had to leave a short rush review to bump up the rating (4.4 as of this writing) a little bit to promote this wonderful novel since there's so little review, hehe..

Managing Expectations:

> My personal blurb - the story revolves around the 'adventure' of Sheng Yuan, the MC, who happened to be bound to a system after a certain 'accident', which requires him to target and stick to ML (Yu Zuojin), in order to survive---literally. Will he succeed?

Hilarious school life and 'delinquent' days ensues. Misunderstandings abound.

> Some notable characters and things to expect and to look forward to (my POV) :

    • Sheng Yuan (MC) - a sunny, handsome, and excellent student prior and after being transported over, with questionable beauty aesthetics. Shameless but rational, kind and righteous in his own ways and principles. Perfect comedy duo with the system
    • Yu Zuojin (ML) - sigh... my self-proclaimed adoptive child. Tall, handsome, fear and maternal instinct-inducer (had to emphasize it, sorry). He's been through a lot, thus his cold, possessive, and violent nature [#MustProtectYuZuojin]. I will give you the whole world even though I'm perfectly aware that you suck at acting and pretending
    • System (Truly Ambitious as per the translator) - best system. It's like you and me---the melon-eater; a reliable listener and adviser but in a non-intrusive way. Yep, definitely not childish like other system administrators I've read so far. Its POV about the two's relationship is so wholesome and heartwarming
    • Sheng Yuan's father - easygoing and best funny dad. In my next life, I don't mind having a father like him
    • Jin Anzhu - I'm sorry, but I laughed whenever you're on screen, witnessing your misery (lmao)
    • Zheng Zilu - you've made me laugh countless of times, so I'll award you the best supporting room-neighbor award. Here's to a brighter world *cheers*
    • Teacher Li - best teacher, hands down
    • Prepare tissue for the later chapters if you are protective like me
    • Sorry, no explicit hot stuffs here; definitely only at shounen-ai level
    • Not plot-heavy/complex plot
    • Has drama but not that heavy (worry-inducing and will only make you feel anxious at most)
    • No excessive mindless, cloying dog food spraying like other novels (thank god!)
    • Happy ending
Overall Thoughts:

Due to the shamelessness and unpredictability of the MC, along with his witty exchange of banter with the system, you'd thought that everything is lighthearted and funny chapter after chapter. But wait until your reach the last 10+ chapters and you'd cry your heart out. I guess Meng Xi Shi and Musuli author-nim has now found a comrade in my fave list for being capable of making me cry out of worry till the very last chapter.

Heh.

You know, I don't mind. But it hurts. So Sheng Yuan my dear, please take good care of my child, Zuojin. He only has you in his eyes so please give me this promise, okay? (Holy hell... not gonna lie, I almost stopped reading at chapter 64 because I was so worried for the ML he might go insane if the MC proceeded with his "plan" due to a certain crucial misunderstanding lmao).

Would I recommend reading this? 100% YES!

Funny, entertaining, heartwarming, eye-opening, and thought-provoking. As a reader and a human, some sensitive subjects here are worth-mulling over about for us to be a little more caring and sensitive about our fellowmen's circumstances. It's easy to judge others, but it won't hurt to be a little more considerate and understanding sometimes if there's a room for it (props to all the people who don't easily retaliate and instead cultivate an open mind). And also, BE A RESPONSIBLE PARENT.

I liked that MC is a loveably sensible character which perfectly complements the ML's delicate character. It's also so nice to see ML gradually changing for the better, helping himself.

So yeah, I don't have major criticism about the overall writing (plot, pacing, characterization, worldbuilding-wise). If there's one, it'd be the little to almost none tension-building between heavy and serious scenes, lessening the drama impact. It's like riding a whirlwind. But I don't mind it much, though. It's just my personal preference if I'd write the novel myself. Maybe the author was trying to make this a light read as much as possible despite the sensitive topics present, I'm not sure *shrugs*

I will try to update the tags as appropriate for reference. Please support and thank the author and translator if you can.

Definitely highly recommended!

Wow

Reading this author's second work, I realize that indeed her first novel was not a sort of fluke and the way she constructs stories is truly special from many novels of this genre. Also her writing style is quite interesting, infused with this awkward yet savage, dead-silent humor that is enjoyable even when nothing substantial is going on.

Quick Review:

  • Rich Character-Relationship Dynamic (as in all relationships between any character feel alive)
  • Dimensional Characters (wow, characters beyond their given archetype!)
  • Slice-of-life that isn't boring (finally!)
  • Shameless yet studious MC x cold and even more shameless delinquent ML
Long Review (to all those skeptical ones, here are my rainbow farts)

Plot: 9.5/10

On the surface, we have our MC bound to a transmigration system telling him to exchange his studies for delinquency in order to live, and our ML who is a cold at-the-top delinquent. We see our MC as a shameless figure who even stuns our new systems in his intricate ways with dealing with tasks. Throughout this, our MC meets the ML (even more shameless than him despite barely speaking, which is saying quite a bit actually) who is crucial to him living.

Actually, I can say for the most part that the story is like this shameless banters, fun dynamics with even side characters, and a slice-of-life. The dad and mom on MC's side is hilarious, rooting for his delinquency, while side characters are all unknowingly guided toward the path of studies by their big brother Sheng Yuan.

Characters: 10/10

Loved it. Like seriously, the author really makes this characters so dimensional she delves into topics relating to the destructive behavior of the ML, not just justifying it as his "cool, delinquent persona" but shedding a realistic light on his current self. She doesn't glorify his actions. He can be a perpetrator in one's view but very much a victim in another's, cold and angry and sad and frustrated yet all that more making you resonate with the ML. As I like to say, he may be a peak delinquent, but he's our lil peak delinquent. I will defend this seemingly cold, indifferent kid and his crocodile acting skills (reserved for MC only) with my life. He's adorable, really. Like a huge dog behind our MC.

In addition! The author constructs MC not as OP, but as a human who isn't afraid to discard his rationality and be angry when the people he cares about gets hurt. He may seem perfect, but in bits you see the character of an 17-year-old boy taken to a new world with his life hanging on the line. He is shameless and bold and, at times, leaves you flabbergasted, but is also caring and considerate and sees the delinquents in this world as human. He seems like he treats life as a spectacle, but he takes everyone he encounters sincerely.

It's both characters that make the story feel alive, and their dynamic with side characters is all unique and vibrant in exchange. It's hard to put into words, but it's really incredible to create so many unique relationship dynamics with side characters and main characters but not detract from the story. Everything blends in seamlessly.

Romance: 9.0/10

Perhaps this is the charm of our MC and ML meeting; one shameless and another even more shameless; a bold fox and a wild dog; the blossoms of spring and the snowstorm of winter (heh, do you like my poetry?). They care for each other with fervor, and their relationship only strengthens as the story progresses.

The only thing I would say is that ML does stretch the boundaries of the MC (sometimes by becoming a film emperor lol). It feels slightly iffy to me. I also got this feeling from the ML in her other work, but at the same time the MC pampers this behavior to heaven... So honestly? Can't say much about it, just personally feels off at times but nothing that really is a turn-off. Mostly because they'll (the Mls) grab bits of tofu (iykyk) but will respect MC's final wish. Both MLs have the shameless pe*vert persona (tamed-wild-dogs-thing?) going for them, so maybe it's the author's taste? Hm.

Conclusion

Whoo, that was longer than expected. If anyone read that, appreciate it fam. Overall, definitely one of my favorite danmei I've read this year and I recommend it. If you're coming for a simple cold ML x shameless yet oblivious MC dynamic, welcome! If you're looking for something deeper, also welcome! If you're not, welcome anyways! Because the author balances all these elements well, it's probably going do more than satisfy the itch you were looking for. I recommend!!

PS..5 taken off mostly because I would love to see more with the ML's family and their resulting relationship, but perhaps, not everything needs to have that fulfilling ending, especially when too many mistakes were made. Life, at times, just continues on. <<less

HOLY MOLYYYY!!! What a cute read! In the beginning, I was pretty skeptical because I assumed that the ML's disabilities and mental illness was just going to be a plot point that would later be cast aside, but I was pleasantly surprised.

MC is a transmigrator with a system, but there is no revenge, no overpowered MC, and no magic. He's literally just a guy. However, in order to survive in this new world, the MC has to become a delinquent and earn delinquent points to exchange for life points. These... more>> life points are for, you guessed it, the time he is allowed to live. Only by doing bad things can you earn these delinquent points, but unfortunately for the system, MC wants to be a good student so he does the bare minimum.

The ML is the top delinquent in the school and has a hearing disability. Due to some trauma in his life, he also experiences mood swings and bouts of anger. There is quite a bit of change between the ML of chapter 1 and the ML at the end of the book, as he begins to mature.

My only complaint is that the love story is a little bland. There is affection but as a reader you kind of feel nothing and are just along for the ride. They're a cute couple but there is not much communication or opening up that leads to their relationship initially. <<less

The MC has really good roasts lmfaooooo, this sh*t is so funny

Anyways, the premise of this story is that being a delinquent is pretty popular in his new world and he needs get over 1 million delinquent points to not get killed by his system. (Did I mention that he only started off with 10 pts)

Anyways, there's quite a few misunderstandings cause everyone thinks the MC is strong as heck when in reality he uses very modern methods (calling the police, ect.) to deal with thugs.

I have to say that I really liked the characters in this novel, they were very interesting and unique. The plot was also very good, though it was a little on the sweeter side. The only complaint I have is the pacing. Parts of the story were too slow and other parts were too fast, especially the major plot points! It felt like the author would spend so much time building up to some conflict or other and then it'd be resolved in a few sentences. It was a little... more>> disappointing, to be honest. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read. <<less

Dropped. I expected a good and fun read based on the intro... but the novel is bland, illogical, and MC, Sheng Yuan, is too 2D.

Spoiler

ML, Yu Zuojin, is the top delinquent with 100 million delinquent points. MC needs to beat ML's score to regain control of his life. A normal delinquent's points are ~200-300.

The illogical issues revolve around the interactions between MC and ML. On their second meeting, normal physique MC was able to pin down super strong ML. ML just laid there and let MC chatter on while sitting on him. Why didn't ML throw him off and squash him? Also, within a handful of meetings, ML became weirdly obedient to MC. I wondered if some chapters were missed cause this made zero sense.

[collapse]

Maybe it's possible to ignore the illogical plot and keep on reading but I felt no like or dislike towards MC... this flat character. Maybe the novel does get better but a third of the way through should be enough time, right? <<less

This is a masterpiece!. In terms of plot, this novel may only be average, but the way the author describes it is extraordinary.

Not much anxiety, almost no obstacles in their relationship. MC and ML can be said to be OP in their school environment. ML isn't a perfect person, neither is MC (don't forget his bad aesthetic sense).

The interactions between MC/ML and other characters are very funny. I laughed out loud in the middle of the night while reading it. I also really like the dialogue of the system and... more>> the MC, it's a friendship relationship, really.

I highly recommend reading this novel, please try it. <<less

Ahhhh my tender maiden heart!

This is an absolutely adorable story that will leave you in between laughter and tears. Nothing too heavy or complex, just a well written slice of life- albeit a hilariously clever one.

pros:

PLOT:

  • Nothing too special here but this time we’ve got a delinquent system, urging out top student to enter the throes of being a social degenerate. What you will fall in love with though, is the system. (My adopted child.)
  • The humor. I was laughing screaming crying. It was so shameless and so random. Please just give one chapter a try (you’ll know whether you’ll like it or not). It is more romance focused though, so if that’s not your cup of tea- still do give it a try.
CHARACTERS:

  • Sheng yuan is so hot. Carrying the heavy weight of socialism and patriarchy my son here is badass. Shameless. If you love he zhao, this is his father.
  • Yu zuojin. Deserves. All. The. Love. One of the cutest, most precious, must- protect ahhh bby. (My emotions are all over the place) Just put up with him for the first few chapters then let’s all give him our love.
  • Xia zhiqi, jin anzhu and the extras. Please never change. Never.
ROMANCE

  • ngl I was sweating buckets at around chapter 65 because stuff was wild but goddamn, the dogfood made me sob. One side of me was happy that my bby zuojin was getting his love while the other side was choking on the sugar.
  • The conflicts in their relationship really don’t last too long and isn’t dogblooded at all. It’s wholesome and wholesome.
Cons:

I thought a bit for this one, the only thing I really wish to see all loose strings tied up, which it was for the most of it. Perhaps just ... more>>

Very, very heartwarming. I liked how they dealt with the ML's mental health, although I wish we'd seen a bit more about his treatment at the end. The MC is awesome, just so dang likeable and charming. Parts are absolutely laugh out loud funny, while making me tear up in other bits. Would recommend anytime, but it was especially a nice read coming from a heavy, intrigue laden novel.

4, 5/5. A must read.

MC is a fantastic character. He's confident, intelligent, and very loyal to the people he cares about. He's a badass and intimidating in his own way, not resorting to blind violence (unless you really piss him off) but instead using his smarts to get back at people. Gotta say he definitely got balls. He isn't perfect either. He can be very selfish and comes off as a sarcastic as*hole at times, but at the end of the day you know that his heart is in the... more>> right place. As for his terrible taste in fashion, I don't really see it as a genuine flaw since it's obviously used as a comedic tool.

As for the ML, he is great too. I really liked that he isn't treated like a poor baby who did no wrong because of his handicap and terrible past. He isn't malicious for the sake of being malicious, but he will happily kick your ass if you get in the way. Yet he is willing to learn and change for the better, which is what matters the most imo. The MC and him are very different when it comes to helping people. For example, the MC saw a young girl being sexually harassed in the bus and came to help her, while the ML walked by a girl who was being harassed and soon to be r*ped by a group of men, and he only started to kick their asses when the men started bothering him. (It could also be that he was deaf at that time so he wasn't paying attention, but tbh I don't think he would have meddled anyway. He just doesn't care). Plus that one scene when he kicks a bunch of bullies who harass a female student but only because he wanted her to know that the MC already had a girlfriend and wanted her to say it out loud lmao. He didn't defend her because of some sort of justice, unlike the MC would have done.

Bonus point for MC's idiot friends who are fun and likeable. They're not incredibly deep but they're not bland and 2d either and I think that's more than fine. You know just enough to grow attached to them. I do wish we'd see more of the ML's little group though.

I removed 0, 5 stars because I thought the ending was a little abrupt, and I didn't like that the as*hole bully at the end became a drug addict. It felt like a cheap and easy punishment. There was many other ways of making him miserable without resorting to drugs, which would have been more satisfying. I also thought the whole "ML's father finds out his son his gay and locks him up, making the ML have a whole breakdown" was forced? Like, it came out of nowhere (how did they even manage to kidnapp the ML away from school that fast and that easily in the first place) and was resolved way too quickly. I'm sure there could have been a more natural way of creating conflict with the whole homophobic parents thing. Especially since the dad seems to "accept" his son's sexuality anyway but disappears afterwards. What was the point? Beside creating angst for the sake of angst (although it does show that the MC actually cares about their relationship since he acted like a poor wilted flower when he thought they broke up lmao) I just wish the author took more time with the ML's parents, their story, conflict etc so we could have had a more satisfying, less rushed conclusion. The parents didn't even have to be redeemed tbh.

Other than that tho, I really recommend this one. Good characters, good plot and cute romance. Although I'm not sure why the 'straight seme' tag is here, ignore it. <<less

One of the very few novels I read without wondering when was the it ever going to end cos some novels kinda drag a lot.

I also liked how they actually made a certain character get psychological help because of his yandere/violent tendencies. You don't see that a lot in novels, they just brush it off as "possessive love". The novel didn't go into details about this, but at least they did mention it.

I am writing reviews for all the books that have made me happy as a reader. This is definitely one of them. I have read many transmigration novels and this is a refreshing one.

The MC is level headed, make do with anything that he has. He also has unusual ways on how to do things.

Overall, this novel made me laugh. And feel the love while being rational.

The bad reviews are really annoying. I almost let go of this novel! Luckily, I didn't.

What stood out the most to me was that the ML's violence wasn't excused because of his mental illness, and that the MC also didn't tolerate it. In other novels, this ML would've been treated as ideal and his possessiveness would be seen as par for course. But here, it's portrayed as indeed something that he needs to get professional treatment for. The ML too was aware of it and was very much willing to change for the better.

Another thing that stood out to me was that the characters weren't... more>> just taken from templates. Sure, there were characteristics that seemed common and catered to tropes, but the differences were cleverly placed and made them more memorable and interesting.

For example, the ML is actually a drama king who also likes to pretend to be pure and innocent. His interactions with the MC's dad was so funny. Even one of the side characters, Zheng Zilu, who was initially set up to be the smart student who looks down on delinquents and would be face-slapped by the MC in the future, was funny and distinct on his own.

Plot-wise, there's not much to expect. The characters and their interactions take center stage here, and so the world isn't as developed as it would be if it were more sci-fi or fantasy. I think the author had a clear direction when they wrote this, and followed just that - nothing more, nothing less. They didn't attempt to dish out moral lessons or life philosophies or whatever. So while it wasn't exactly a masterpiece, it was still quite entertaining and engaging without being bogged down by chunks of text. <<less

Hilarious and Epic Win!!!

I Really LOVE how the MC written! He's Badass without being Physical Strong. His Courage is not Baseless. He's Confident because he's Calm and Smart! He's well prepare and some of it was luck. People misunderstood his strength as delinquent but he IS Badass in Brain and his personality was really Good to keep Loyal 'little brothers' he never ask.

I also Love the progress of ML's Personal Growth in Emotions. Can't help but grow fond of him by times... ❤️

I really Love how the author wrote other characters too. Like how I LOVE the Headmaster. The teachers, and especially the little Brothers akan the Students.

Even the most unexpected part also make sense when the System remind us in the Extra.

This is Such a Great Hilarious and Very Absolutely Excitingly Great Novel!!! Entertaing till the end! Satisfying till the end!

Lovely to read, though there were parts that made my heart sore. But there were also parts that made me giggle out loud!

I feel like Yu Zuojin (ML) fell in love quite quickly, but I guess considering his history and general isolation, he can't help but be attracted to someone who is so sunny and sly. Sheng Yuan really broke down his doors! And it seems like shamelessness is contagious too hahahaha.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this.

I had a couple problems with this novel's character chemistry and plot. Firstly, the token resistance from the MC made many of their "romantic" moments seem forced. The ML would constantly push the MC's boundaries and would always get his way through coercion. I don't believe that the ML was actually bothered by the MC's actions, but still... the ML should double check that there is consent. It was just hard to feel the chemistry within their romance because of this.

Secondly, the ending was disappointing. The drama at the end... more>> was unnecessary. It introduced double standards about domestic violence and made the MC's parents unlikeable. So much action took place within the last 15 main story chapters. It made the story a bit unlikable for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed the MC's personality. I only wished that there was a better ML. <<less

Reading this novel was like having a sweet, caring boyfriend who always spoiled you until one day, he slaps the sh*t out of you and then spits on you before coming back to you the next day with a cake, pretending that it never happened :/

Despite that, it’s still 4 stars because I enjoyed the beginning so much.

Spoiler

The part that made me go ??? Was near the ending of the story, around the finale, where the ML gets taken away and then beaten by his dad before being trapped in his house. Then he goes crazy until the MC finally investigates it and comes to see him. He doesn’t even necessarily rescue him, in the end, the ML goes abroad and they meet again years later.

It really makes you go ??? Because was this really necessary?? It came out of left field, it was lowkey out of character for both the ML and MC, and it provided nothing to the plot besides basic drama. There wasn’t even any revenge against the ML’s terrible parents. It was so unexpected that I wondered if I was reading the same story.

However, I still love this story because the characters are really fun, the romance is sweet, and the humor made me laugh, at least in the beginning. As such, I still rate it 4 stars, even if the finale/ending was completely out of pocket and out of the blue.

I almost don’t know if I would recommend this story, but it IS fun and I did like it, at least in the beginning. <<less

Entertaining, fast-paced read that throws you in the thick of it from the beginning. Was fun to see how MC twist things to get out of the system’s requirements and stay true to himself.

The interaction with ML is also sweet and funny, with ML being an unexpectedly textured character (not just a misunderstood good-looking bad boy—which he also is) whose thick-skinned logic was hilarious.

when he whipped out the stack of test papers from under his pillow to demand kisses LOL

[collapse]

Some funny and heartwarming side characters (Iron Head and Sheng Dad lol) and the minor villains face-slapping made it more enjoyable.

Spoiler

The sudden marriage like what?? Barely eighteen! I thought promise rings or something of that level would have sufficed.

[collapse]

Wished there was smut, lol. The hints at it were okay, tepid but still fun.

Almost! Favourite because

Spoiler

My mind fixated too much on the ‘initial misunderstanding’ of the confession—like it doesn’t make sense? How can ML think it was a ‘I like you’? He should be able to lip read, or even if not, how could it end up there from ‘you dropped your money’?

The unresolved ML’s parents—it felt like they were a plot point to contribute to his sad backstory that was not fully addressed. They locked their violent mentally ill kid up in a room for goodness sake. Even if the dad quit campaigning to finally spend time, it wasn’t enough salve on the wound to fix things.

ML’s bounce back from ‘suddenly strangling you’ to ‘please don’t break up with me’ to ‘kiss kiss’ in a blink was a bit much.

[collapse]

The sudden descend to terror (lol) i.e. Violence for the ML was startling and a bit frightening, which, looking back was kind of in line with how it really was a problem for them to face. The resolution was a bit rushed though, could have been spread out a little bit, but still acceptable.

Would still re-read for the funny & fluffy parts. :) <<less
