The ML swapped the MC's medication with calcium pills and another similar type of pill I think? It was done with good intentions because the ML believes the medicine the MC currently takes for his social anxiety can be harmful to the body (though I wonder if he found that out through Google/Baidu or something). However as someone who isn't knowledgeable about that area of study, he shouldn't have done that, especially without the knowledge of the patient (or even trying to discuss it with him to get it done through the appropriate channels). It's just wrong and (potentially) dangeous on so many levels. (Has he ever heard of withdrawal symptons? Does he understand how frightening it would be to experience that and have no idea why? His doctors would also be under the misconception that he's been on that medication ans plan accordingly. And that's only a small part of it.) If I read further, maybe I'll find out something that would soften the blow. But as of now this is how I see it.

Swapping your friend's anxiety medications for ANYTHING is really really not okay and sudden withdrawals of these kinds of medications can be extremely dangerous, and missing a dose is also something multiple doctors warned me against. So while the ML is understanding in some aspects, in the end you really do get the vibe that they're not taking social anxiety seriously. It's really a shame, because the MC is so relatable. He deserves his problems to be seen as valid and he definitely deserves getting that dose of anti-anxiety medication.

I feel like after they got together, the ML gets more and more... outlandish? In a strange way. They basically move in together, but I can't help but remember that they're in high school. It feels like there's a clash between the realism of the setting, especially the school sections, and the grand romantic gestures. Might just be me though.

tbh what bothered me more about this isn't even just the ML doing this (altho by itself it def leaves a bad taste in my mouth), it's that the narration portrays it as, good? 😭 like it's an extension of the ML's care and "love" for the MC and not like this is a SUPER questionable thing to do to someone even when we set aside logistics about how dangerous it can be to cut someone off from their meds cold turkey.

idc if the thing about his medication being bad to take long term is true or not, it doesn't change how dangerous or just not-okay him switching out his meds is! It just feels crazy to me to see that get portrayed how it was because I would've been much less baffled about it if the ML was written as a yandere? I know this has the "black belly" tag but I didn't really get that impression while reading.... it felt more like "ML is a lil controlling and lil manipulative but it's fine and healthy because he has the MC's best interests at heart ☺️" which I just don't agree with lmao

for the record I also don't care that the author wrote in the ML supposedly consulting a doctor about switching the MC's meds? And like "watching him closely" to make sure he's okay or whatever like that's just so obviously hand-wavy stuff to absolve the ML of any possible fault about it which goes back to my thing about the narration treating this as not really a crazy thing to do to someone 💀

the meds thing also kinda highlights my general problems w this novel, where it aims to be this cute fluffy story but the ML is just, really controlling to me? And the MC is obviously quite timid and in general just seems to lack any agency but the novel doesn't seem to realize this?... idk I didn't find it cute, it just made me uncomfortable especially since I thought the tone or how the narration treated the ML's actions didn't match well with what was going on, in my opinion. It felt more like I was just reading someone getting coerced rather than getting into a relationship.

In my opinion this is abusive behavior. I object to the trope that “Love Fixes Everything” and also the false statement that anxiety is a mood and people should be able to just “get over it”

The med scenes only showed up a handful of times, and each time it brought me out of the story

the two got together pretty early on, around chapter 20 something if I remember correctly. However the author did a good job of somehow keeping me interested in the next 60 some chapters without any major plot twists or conflicts or tragedies.

ML replaced MC's (anxiety?) medicine with Glucose and Collagen pills. For 'Good' reason. And he wasn't just replaced it carelessly. He keep paying attention to MC's condition. Checking his temperature, heart beat, mood, emotions, feelings, etc. His Intention is Good. His Heart is Good. His action though, yes, it's in Grey area. But MC is always fine under ML's watchful protection. And MC does end up found out about it.
