While tracking a suspect, a man was found collapsed on a mountain path.

“How is it possible there’s not a single fingerprint or trace of DNA?”

Suffering from amnesia and believing himself to be a child, the man couldn’t be identified even through a database search. With nowhere else to go, Ieum brought him to his home.

He named the man ‘Yeong-sik’ and decided to live together.

“Ahjussi, do you hate Yeong-sik?”

“I don’t hate him. Mr. Yeong-sik is such a nice man.”

Despite his cold appearance, Yeong-sik was a gentle man.

In Ieum’s eyes, Yeong-sik always appeared obedient….

Until one day, while alone in the house, Yeong-sik looked at Ieum’s family photos with an expression of amusement.

“Damn it, did I walk into a tiger’s den?”

His memories came flooding back.

I am generally not a fan of this author's works--Things That Deserve to Die, Omega Dong-sik, Bad Guy were all DNF for me. I liked Marriage is a Joke, which is the one all her fans hated and obnoxiously review-bombed for not being R19 (because I guess they need r*pe to get through a story? Idk man.)

BUT this series is hilarious and I just really enjoy the dynamic between them, as well as the dynamic between them and their families, and the cases Ieum's working/worked on being woven throughout... more>> the plot.

I'm not saying Wonjun isn't a red flag, he definitely is, but as far as gangster alphas go he's far from the worst. Spoilers for the noncon stuff if you want to decide for yourself if you can power through it:

Early on, Wonjun spikes Ieum's food with a heat accelerant to see if Ieum's really an omega. Despite being in heat, Ieum says no to penetrative s*x and Wonjun is incredulous but actually listens to the no. After Ieum puts two and two together and realizes he drugged him and that's why his heat cycle's off, he chokes Wonjun out and leaves him passed out in the hospital room bathroom (I'M SORRY BUT THAT IS THE FUNNIEST sh*t EVER, I LOVE IEUM SO MUCH, lol)

The second noncon is quite a bit later, when Ieum goes into heat and holes up in a motel. Wonjun shows up and does put it in (Ieum is asking him to, but didn't call him before becoming delirious, so I'd say still noncon) but takes it out before doing much out of concern over how high Ieum's fever is. He has Ieum's Doctor friend come give him a suppressant and then Wonjun falls asleep next to him without doing anything else. When Ieum wakes up, he takes Wonjun's phone, texts his secretary to leave until called for, and then leaves Wonjun handcuffed to the bed without a phone so he's trapped in the motel room (I LOVE HIM SO MUCH HAHAHAHA.)

And because the bar is in hell for Korean BL, personally I was just relieved that he stopped in both instances and respected the 'no' and put Ieum's health/safety first. The s*x scenes after those are all consensual.

So no, I'm not excusing it, but if I'm reading about a psycho gangster ML, I'd prefer the type that rather than just terrorizing MC is terrorizing anyone who tries to hurt MC. Though he certainly makes Ieum's life chaotic and is a manipulative little shit, he is ultimately trying to impress/seduce/protect Ieum. And the dynamic works so well because Ieum is actually intelligent and a capable badass, so I don't feel like it's just another weak-willed omega being completely steamrolled. <<less

The summary got me hooked, thinking that it might be another cute misunderstanding story. It was like that at first, and I love it. But things changed when he got his memories back.

4/5 or 8/10 - It’s so much fun. I really hope we get more side stories because it’s so entertaining. The banter between the two main characters is great, but what makes the story so much better is

The interaction between their families, particularly their dads. It’s such a mess. I love it.

The top is psychotic and he does a lot of questionable things, even to the bottom. The bottom is no pushover and he calls out, resists, and fights the top’s bullshit. (Most of the time lol.)

I like this author’s straightforward writing style, with no unnecessary contemplations or overly detailed descriptions of whatever. I like that the smut scenes aren’t too long either. Story always trumps smut in my book. <<less

this is good in my opinion but the alpha is very pushy and persistant but the omega isn't a pushover and ACTUALLY stands on business.

I love the story and the characters. ML is pushy, soft only to MC, persistent and manipulative. He did some dubious things but yeah I'm colorblind so.... MC is not weak and is rational. I love their interaction and how their relationship develops.
