The reason of it feeling more like an excerpt is because the final part of the story seemed more like to be continued than the end. In the bxg part of the story; the sister confessed his love to MC best friend and best friend rejected her because he couldn't completely let go of his feelings for his ex-girlfriend. Their story seemed to just end with a rejection hence why not feeling complete. The best friend even got the white moonlight story line going for him so they could even have another seperate novel about their relationship

Also MC has never confronted the reasons of why he is so afraid of his father. There are some mentions of it in the novel. Even his brother talks about it a little but he only knows the version told by MC and not the whole truth, only MC nightmare alludes as to what really happened. So that part also felt a little unfinished but this not done feeling just like in real life was also one of the reasons why I liked this story...

İt was sad that his parents never liked his job or be proud of him for choosing such a diffucult but very meaningful job. The belittlement of his family against his chosen job was just one of the underlying reasons of his inferiority complex he seemed to have...

the ending which felt too abrupt

after the MC came out to his mom, I thought the author would explain if his mother ended up accepting his relation or not. However, not getting a conclusion from that also makes sense because for the MC, his priority wasn't to get his mother's acceptance but to set up a boundary in his mother's constant interference with his romantic life. One thing I would have liked to see though is the MC telling the ML about his relationship and past with his dad. Because although we know their relationship is not good, we weren't given the exact details of their past.

didn't feel so abrupt

For instance, there was so much buildup about the MC wanting to come out but we never got to see the follow up. Although I somewhat understand what the author might have thought - and as the ML said: the outcome didn't matter. What mattered was the mc's determination and his journey to making up his mind about it.

Another thing I'm disappointed about is that we never got to see MC's meeting with the ML's family. I was looking forward to it.

Next, what happened to the BG side couple after that? Did Liang Yan get back with his ex? Did Ming Yuan Ning find a new lover? They don't need to end up together but at least show what happened to them or else, why mention them at all? Sigh

Also, what happened to the MC's family thereafter? His past was hinted but no proper details given. He was supposed to show the hidden photos to ML but it was never touched upon again. They did discuss their feelings but there's quite a few things that the author touches upon but then doesn't elaborate further, which is why the ending really feels too abrupt.

At the end of the story the main couple had only known each other for a full year and the MC had just come out to his parents, so it felt they they were still in the very early stages of their relationship. I feel like from where we left off they could end up breaking up in another year or so, and that uncertainty made the end of the story less interesting. Additionally, since the MC has just come out to his parents, I wish there was a bit where he talked with his brother about it at least. And the whole thing with the friend, I think its fine if that's covered in another story but then don't include chapters focusing on the side characters if you're not going to wrap it up in this story.
