After helping his mom buy a bunch of vegetable seeds, melon seedlings, and fruit saplings, Zhang Shuguang got hit by a car.

With his phone at 39% battery, he reincarnated as a minor cannon fodder character in the novel The Beast World Overlord’s Wild Wife.

This minor character was only briefly mentioned at the very beginning of the story. It stated that he and the protagonist were both young sub-beasts from marginalized tribes. While gathering fruits together, they encountered a ferocious beast. He saved the protagonist by falling off a cliff himself.

Zhang Shuguang had only read the first three chapters of “The Beast World Overlord’s Wild Wife.” He hadn’t even seen the protagonist shine before he was transported into the story.

Realizing his new surroundings, Zhang Shuguang gritted his teeth and began a life of balancing quests to keep his phone alive while using that phone to keep himself alive.

This was an era of abundant resources and unspoiled nature, yet also one of savage brutality.

Battles, bloodshed, raw meat—the people here possessed immense strength and could transform into beasts.

Zhang Shuguang watched in stunned silence as a burly man over two meters tall transformed into a massive python over twenty meters long, leaving him completely numb.

He harbored a deep-seated fear of all scaly creatures.

Yet the three fluffy little beasts rubbing against his feet reminded him that regardless of whether that fierce man had hair or not, life must go on!

Rolling up his sleeves, he knew today’s vegetable patch remained untilled and the house unfinished. He had no time for fears.

Life must go on, and he intended to live it to the fullest in this savage, beast-filled world!

As for that hairless creature… Zhang Shuguang curled his lip. Truth be told, it did have its charms.

At the very least, on sweltering days, hugging its slick, cool body felt refreshing.

Troubles weren’t entirely absent. Lately, he’d noticed the giant python’s gaze fixed on him with an almost intense stare.

And then there was that… something sinister. Those two things down there—could they possibly be what he thought they were? Huh?!

I have mixed feelings about this one. It's fairly decent for a slice of life but I really found both the MC and ML annoying at times. Both have communication problems, say things to each other and then not keep their word

Spoiler

MC's blood is like a miracle cure-all. ML very rightfully doesn't want him to keep bleeding himself or chopping off his flesh to save everyone. MC agrees but will do it anyway. ML is pushy af about the s*x to the point it gets uncomfortable. The author could have easily had the MC enjoy it a bit rather than always try to avoid or cry about how much it hurts.

Also, small trigger warning for beastiality mentions for side couples.

Another thing that annoyed me is the lose ends. There will the start of a plot but then it moves on without any proper conclusion. Also, the mc's attitude keeps swinging like a pendulum about the systems and the divine tree. It felt a bit hypocritical at times tbh.

The true ending is in the extras so if you don't read it you'll be left confused about it all.

Even though I ranted so much about it, the novel does have good points too. The cubs are fun and it's fine enough for a slice of life. <<less

Really focused on the infrastructure. I like MC being an unbothered king like he knows he can't do or change anything so he goes on with his life. The romance is smooth and there's only rivals at the start. I get bored sometimes, so I read on and off.

Spoiler
  • The tribe lives in caves until 300+ chapters where MC finally built houses, and that's kinda realistic.
  • I really don't understand what happened to the main system until the end.
  • I also like they have extras in the modern world.
