It was good. Im one of those ppl who got bored alrdy with bottom protags, and wanted something new. I know females need to do a lot but it kind of appeased my heart-who wants gongs to be pampered for now. XD I just already read a lot of pampered bottoms for like some years now and alrdy sick of it. I need it balanced =∆=

Slow slice of life story

It only takes like 1 month for the ML and MC to be together.

Some mtl part kinda hard to understand, I was like, wha? What the heck happening here? Who tf are you now? Where the heck am i? What time is this? Lol

So maybe ill be back when it finish translated.

I had a great time blitzing through 200+ chapters ꉂ (ˊᗜˋ*) MC is quite typical for this trope; he's somehow got a bunch of useful primitive knowledge that's key to his and the tribe's survival. He doesn't have all the pieces but enough that the OP, learning tyrant beastmen can create them. Plus for once, the native beastmen/orcs are actually simple and not scheming in mind for power. Big tribes and little tribes working together to survive in the wild where "dragons" are their prey and also their hunters. We... more>> love that teamwork! Yeah!

The beasts/"dragons" in this novel range from regular wild animals to giant domesticated pigs called porpoise dragons (MTL) to stegosaurus..? I also still have no clue what the actual enemy "dragons" they fight are since MTL flips between hyena and iguana... those two are very different animals... ꉂ (ˊᗜˋ*)

Overall, you have cooking, farming, city/tribe building and a lovely smidge of childcare. The author doesn't go into too much detail on cooking/farming steps, just enough to introduce them to you and keep the story going. There is a constant emphasis on survival. I didn't even realise we were headed for the end until, well, I hit the end _ (:3" /_) _ Definitely recommend! <<less

I really, really liked this book. The book just feels magical, like I am reading about a wonderland (not the Alice kind).

It feels a bit like a women's fantasy about what would it be like if men were the ones who gave birth and still pampered women. And just change their gender/s*x and call males 'females' because they now give birth, and call females 'males' because they imp**gnate the 'females'. But even the females are called 'brother', 'father', etc.

But I didn't necessarily... more>> like this setting, as all of this is just a new setting for the 'weak' guys to top 'strong' guys, cuz females are stronger (waaaay stronger) than males. Do you even need a reason to make weak guys top? The couple can simply f*ck each other like any ordinary gay couple, for god's sake.

Anyways, the main focus is the world MC transmigrates to. It is in a different world with different setting, where females can turn into beastman, but males can't. It's still stoneage, but signs of civilization are already there. Anyways, I liked the world building very much.

By the way, translation is impeccable. Hats off to the translation team! <<less

Great worldbuilding. There are descriptions and you can easily imagine what the new planet looks like

The characters have personnalities, the author doesn't forget one or make some disappear (as of ch146).

No cliched villains who have to be face-slapped

I hesitated between 3 or 4 stars because right now, there isn't much in character development and my common sense was irritated by the tribe building, plus the MC is too easily worshipped and believed, nobody question his decisions (beastman X, whose alien constitution I don't know, just had a baby, then he... more>> mustn't eat this and this...).

People are walking around in skirt fur but there is a wedding so let's make a suit? There is not enough thread but let's make red fabric for the wedding because there is a forgotten meaning behind it? This is the time to get food before winter, then let's learn to write? This is an alien langage but let's write it with chinese characters that take really long to learn, it so happen that I remember ancient text and poems?... and so on.

At first MC was a common guy, but now he can recognise salpetre, gypsum,... and know how to use it, make rope, fishing net, houses... Plus there is a strange unbalance, people in the tribe can weave but don't make clothes, they can make pottery but don't use them as tableware. People are advanced enough to have crafts but can't think what to do with it? So the author made MC kinda god-like compared to anyone else, the guy you must have because he has ideas and answers to all your problems.

Well, I'm a little disappointed, the plot is nice but I feel the author didn't make even basic research before trying her hand at tribe building and coudn't handle another culture without her own. <<less

I realized I did not review this story at the time I finished. I only noticed when I saw that the chapters have disappeared. Anyway, this novel is set in stoneage-ish beastman world and the interesting this is MC transmigrated with his body and all. However, it posed a lot of challenge because unlike other mcs, he doesn't have any golden finger/cheat/plug-in. He's a total normie and that part... IDK, it made him relatable for me? I do appreciate him because boy, living in this world is tough as hell.... more>> World building is fun tho, it isn't some boring monotonous farming life. He literally founded a community.

No biological females. I find it interesting that guys who have beast body are the "females" that could give birth and ordinary, lean guys were the males so as a reverse-appearance fan, it's entertaining to see the huge guys as shous/uke.

One important note which also made me want to post a review: The scanlated chapters were not taken down. As per betwix, you join their discord channel and get the password there to read everything freely. <<less

So I complete it. The story is rather mild, focusing on infrastructure building and such. I have sort of question here and there that I think is not answered but it's alright.

I was hooked up after reading the translated one, and then I just searched google and come up with this story getting mtl'ed by someone else, save me from the trouble of manually copying and pasting the raw to Google Translate to read. I'll read the translated one since it's a fun story.

I visited the author page and see... more>> that most of her stories are actually like this, lmao. Unfortunately it's as long as this one if not longer, so I won't bother reading it now. <<less

whatever the MC want the ML will do and he knows it. MC still asks for things even if it is dangerous and inconvenient. He it was not enough that ML saved him from death. He’d ask ML and his friends to help build a house even if the material to build the house may come from a dangerous source. He wanted to go the market gathering knowing ML is gonna have to carry him the whole 3 days or he’d be a burden for the traveling tribe that only has over 30 residents and they are all mostly old. Worse part is he doesn’t even have any intention of getting with ML who is obviously smitten by him. He thanked ML only ones for giving him food otherwise he seems entitled. He legit raised everyone’s hope up thinking he would be with ML because he always says he wants to be always around ML

I remember that I tried to read this at least once on the past! Unfortunately, I was still new to Danmei back then and had a difficult time swallowing the edited MTL. I got a lot farther this time, but I really wasn’t expecting the novel to be so slow-paced! The main premise of the novel follows the typical, MC time travels to the Primitive Era and is picked up by the ML. Here, things are made a little more complicated with the presence of Beastmen and Dragons. The environment... more>> is very different from Earth as well. And without a golden finger, all the MC can rely on his modern knowledge to improve his standards of living in this strange new environment.

This novel is a slice of life novel through and through. I was expecting there to be more clan building and infrastructure building. But the slow pacing makes it so the main focus is on the day to day living instead. So you get a lot of primitive era cooking, house building, hunting, etc. This is not what I was looking for specifically, but I enjoyed it quite a bit regardless. It’s good for a casual read through.

I didn’t end up finishing it cause I wanted to wait for the more Betwixted TL chapters T.T The edited MTL at idleturtle is not bad either though! It’s readable, but the slow pacing makes it a little difficult in the long term. I decided fo leave this unrated for now because I only read about half. I’ll write a full review next time! My prelimary rating would probably be around 3.3-3.75 stars out of 5. Rounded up to around 4/5 stars. <<less

I kinda have mixed feelings about this. At first I was really excited bcz I love ancient times novels that have beast men or tribal stuff. But as the story moved on I realized although it was a part of the story, most of the novel was focused on food. They're always cooking this or that.

I like cooking novels but it gets repetitive if they keep cooking nearly same things with just added cabbage and make a whole chapter out of it. That would be fine as well but I'm... more>> like 71 chapters in and there's no excitement of transmigrating in the ancient world that has dinosaurs. No serious fights or anything just some random dino looking for death after 20 chaps and killed in one move.

The MC is always protected by the ML and while I don't mind that, bcz of that there's hardly any danger at all. And the world building is soooo boring and inconsistent. Like one moment they don't even eat anything other then meat and fruits, and then whoa... They can make cloths. At the start it was shown that the yarn smth was difficult to get but then never mentioned again. They make like a whole quilt and clothes for everyone, do they have an infinite supply? Especially since it's only one person making it.

Everything is too damn easy for the MC. At first they don't have many salt stones then boom! They get like hundreds at a go. A supply for 10-15 years like wtf. They didn't even do much. Like they have flint but don't know other ways of making fire???? Make it make sense.

The world building is Soo friggin slow. And the people are way too nice and trusting like not even people in peaceful countries are like this. They never doubt anything about him and just accept him. Like Stranger Danger!!

Especially since tribal people in reality are mostly xenophobic or at least have some tendencies like that. They don't even question his origins when the stone shows a dragon. Like do they even think?

Lastly, one of the things that icked me the most. It was how the MC be always trying to modernize them. I came to read a ancient civilization novel if I had wanted modern suits and weddings I wouldn't be here. The wedding is English, Chinese and tribal mix smth I can't even tell anymore what it was. There was the wine exchange thing but they were both wearing suits and said vows and wore rings. ??? I thought tribal people were very traditional and were stubborn about it. They didn't even think twice.

The MC said all this sh*t about a game and things from his world and literally no one asked him what he meant or was he crazy. They all just be like: "games, companies and schools totally normal stuff everybody talks about". Like if it was me I would definitely doubt there was smth wrong with his head, what mumble jumble he be talking about?

Basically, at one point they're in danger then they're suddenly learning to write? Like do they have time for this. The world building is all over the place. They don't have basic necessities but are making lamps? Similarly, it's like the beast people can't think for themselves, they have clothes but never made it for themselves. Don't know how to eat fish. Never thought different ways of making houses. I can understand if they're really traditional and don't like doing what their ancestors didn't but they like never stop the MC from doing stuff against their traditions. It's like they can't think for themselves or smth?

There were good things in it too, but tbh I don't even remember them anymore. A person with serious ADHD like me can't even read the first few chapters without getting bored. I read, then my brain took me to YouTube, I realized after two hours and came back and read then got distracted again. After all that I read to 71 and that's my limit. Maybe I'll get back later.

The something I liked the most would be the translator, she seems so genuinely sweet and nice, she was half the reason I stuck through.

Anyways, if you like slow and I forgot what it's called novels then it would be a great choice. But if you're expecting smth like Banished To Another World or Stone Age Husband Raising Diary then this isn't for you. <<less

it's a slice of life so it's normal for it to be slow but this is even slower than usual! After persevering until now I can't bring myself to read further especially after seeing that in total there are more than 210 chapters... maybe someday I will gather my strength and read it again until the end but not now. The story it's interesting, especially how it reversed the roles of males and females in these kind of orc worlds (also I still don't understand how the orc work because... more>> they grow fur but are human, not a beautiful sight). I still don't know if the main couple will have kids or what will happen, until now there are no clear antagonists however there are many strange fenomena that need to be investigated. If it were just a little more fast paced I would have enjoyed it but it being like this is just tiring, I feel it's a chore. <<less

This novel was definitely alot more than what I expected... in a very very good way!!

There's a cohesive storyline that's pretty elaborate compared to other novels of the same genre (orcs/beastman) -- at first I was interested in the gimmick of having only winter and summer, the weather system in this novel is interesting and differentiate it from other novels. The typical house building, clans, defense and technologically advancement. But it also lacks the intrigues between beastman -- there's no sinister plot between this tribe or that tribe. There's alot... more>> of generosity in this area where beastman help each other and see each other as one community, whileas the common enemy they unite against is the 'others' (animals). At most, the most malicious beastman on beastman crime is just about love. Anyways, it's barely there...

Later, I stayed for the plot. There's a bigger war with hyenas and gods and they even have dragons at play!! It's really interesting. I have no other words to describe it. Yes, there's still some plot holes and it's not like, tight. But -- it didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the novel. Ive been craving beastmen novel for ages, and this one was giving me more than what I even expected (which, the standard was kinda low already but this one is better than mediocre !!)

Definitely recommend anyone who's a beastman world/prehistoric genre-lover to try this novel. The MTL is readable all throughout, and it's pretty solid compared to others of the same genre!! <<less

The plot is good, slice of life, good world building, a little bit of character development and also relationship development, not 2D, and make sense. Well the downward is that some grammar mistakes in the translation, but if you could turn of your brain and replace that as third person view, you kind of get it of the story.

Oh the most unique thing is that the world concept is so unique lol.
