which would have been okay, a little boring but still okay if the MC didn't forget EVERYTHING about that summer except for a yacht. I mean he even forgets finding out he is allergic to seafood with the ML. He was 11 not 5. I remember things from when I was 11 and that was WAY more than 6 years ago for me and I sure would have remembered someone taking me to the hospital. Not to mention he spent a summer lying to the ML that he was girl and scamming food, stuff like that sticks with a person. No he doesn't have amnesia or any head trauma. This forgetfulness of the MC bugged me too much, talk about an author forcing a plot

MC forgot almost everything about their childhood summer & although he was young and a lot of stuff happend in his family after that summer, the stuff that he did and experienced that summer isn't something easily forgotten so the only explaination is that he has a hole in his brain and the memories leaked through it...

As for ML, during childhood and at present he has a MAJOR BRAINHOLE... whatever the MC does is an implication of „MC liking him" eventhough he doesn't... EVERYTHING MC does is judged by him based on not common sense but his own assumptions (/brainholes)... everytime he is like „oh, he must be doing this because he likes me so much" or „oh, he is doing this deliberately" and MC is always just „ani? Whats going on with him? Anyway I can't be bothered to question it"... which further deepens the misunderstandings. Then there's the thing that everytime ML misunterstands an action of MC as „liking him so much" he treats him super gently & everytime MC does something super normal between friends or IN GENERELL super normal, just that it doesn't imply that „he likes him", he gets super moody and angry and it's super confusing for MC who doesn't even know whats going on and doesn't even see him as romantic interest... communication missing much

The way author hint how MC growing up learning how to forget the bad memories ಥ⁠_⁠ಥ. Like his best buddy Hu Pi badmouth him to his mother that he's stealing things from their home when actually Hu Pi did it and our MC still able to play with him again. How he accidently eavesdropping his relatives secret but never tell anyone about it and able to act as if he didn't hear anything. This is why he can getting closer to ML, because although ML is nice to him he sure has some attitude that I can't stand it ಠ⁠ᴥ⁠ಠ but MC can, he's so forgiving (⁠◕⁠દ⁠◕⁠)

And although author try to make MC forgetting the past realistically by let him also forget his nearly drowning past. I'm still not convinced ¯⁠⁠_⁠ (⁠ツ⁠) ⁠_⁠/⁠¯ but the little guy went through parents divorced, change hometown, indulge in intensive learning state because of his mother's pressure and he's 11 at the time (⁠ ⁠≧⁠Д⁠≦⁠)

Cheng Yu, on the other hand kind of a spoiled brat. But it's ok, still tolerable I love his inner monologue because of his overthinking since young.
