Well at first I instinctively wanted to rage at Tiararose like everyone else because of how insecure she is in the whole sequel heroine arc but the more I re-read this and the manga the more I kind of empathize with her.
...
Think about it like this. She was childhood friends with Hartnights and had a decent relationship with him, she never harassed Akari but the same condemnation event occurred. Akari also happens to be kind of a malicious idiot but she still manages to steal Hartnights who is supposed to be a kinda ideal prince. Purely by luck another prince, the ML of the sequel shows up and is for some reason in love with her despite never speaking to her before. She is whisked off without even knowing much about him other than the fact that he's nice. She's automatically hated by the water fairies of the water country and this unreadable shady prince has a SUUPER close personal AND work relationship with a childhood friend who is pretty, nice, of higher noble status than Tiara and loved by the water fairies. Furthermore events with the two keep on triggering and Aqua makes little effort to try and distance himself from the heroine at all despite seeing what happened with Hartnights. Tiara is a foreigner and her status wasn't super high so of course she couldn't complain openly about it and it's understandable she's afraid of being hated for being petty. Hartknights was her favorite and he hated her after the tiniest little scolding. The thing is Aqua should know better than anyone why Tiara is reluctant to complain or beg for attention. It's only natural that she can only really resent the heroine on the inside and she did not act out against the heroine. Have none of you never silently disliked anyone before? I don't blame Aishira for the misunderstandings but I found myself slightly peeved on behalf of Tiara. She was a nice girl and probably would understand if Aqua told her that he wanted a bit of space because he suspected that Tiara might be a bit shaken because of what happened to her. He keeps saying he wants to take the initiative to make Tiara happy, protect her and make her comfortable in this new country and that could've easily been done through this simple action. I mean he did say he would not go on the sea inspection that ONE time but it would've been so much more effective if he voiced his thoughts to either Tiara or Aishira or better yet both. He's in a much better position than Tiara to say something about it.
Though actually I probably wouldn't have been miffed at Aishira if she didn't end up liking prince Aqua romantically. I would've preferred her simply liking her work and thinking that his work ethic is admirable or just liking him in a sibling like way. It just felt a bit annoying that she was just predisposed to like Aqua. Her wearing dark blue all the time even at the wedding and almost interrupting ruined her for me. She definitely would've had Akari not grabbed her. She turned into worse Akari for a moment there... We already had a heroine in the first arc who was there to steal a prince. It would've been nice if the second one wasn't there to play the same role.
Tiara in a way is trying to be considerate. She thought about it and knew that Aqua and Aishira were good people so it wouldn't be alright to falsely accuse them just because she felt jealous. She didn't like that she was feeling that way and had been making an effort to adjust her thoughts.
I do wish that they gave Tiara a few more qualities other than cute, good at baking and unassertive. Like if she loved to write or she wished to travel or learn new magic or something that doesn't scream "I'M A PLAIN WAIFU AND NOTHING ELSE." But Aqua however darling he is was even more boring... He was cool during the first arc but he just got mildly irritating then boring after.
Perhaps the most interesting development was Akari learning to be a better person. Not a great one but a better one with more empathy.
I dropped this after the memory loss arc. I liked sweet stories but the balance is off with this one. It's too busy being angsty.
There is nothing to love about these characters. We can't even say this story has characters. The MC is too meek to be followed. Pacing has great problems. The story is just badly written, there is no heaviness about it. The translation is not good either. I don't know why I was stubborn to read this far. Can't understand how can a person can give this story higher than 2 stars.
