WARNING: This is more of a long rant than a review.

To be honest, I was thinking about rating this with 4 stars (because the Translators were pretty good) but I dropped it down to 2 stars because I just can't read any more than I already have.

The main problem that I have with this story is the MC (Main Character), Tiararose. There are a few other factors but the main character is always the make-it-or-break-it.

At the start, she had the potential to be a well-rounded character with room for some... more>> character growth. Very quickly, I began to realize that there is little to no substance to her.

Tiararose was interesting at the start. I thought she had a strong sense of justice and an unyielding spirit. This personality of hers made me cheer for her when she stood up to the Otome game's heroine, Akari. Her close relationship with her parents made me smile. I also thought her interactions with ML (Male Lead), Aquasteed, were very adorable as well.

Then, well... let's just say things took a turn, and not a very good turn either.

Spoiler

Unfortunately, I only thought she was awesome until she and Aquasteed arrived in Aquasteed's country, Marineforest. There, she meets the sequel otome game's FL (Female Lead), Aishira, and everything just went downhill from there.

She literally does nothing but cry and get jealous this whole arc. Her constant cases of "insecurity" makes reading the story incredibly frustrating.

And, yes, I put quotations around "insecurity" because that is what Author-sensei wants you to think she feels. Rather than being insecure, however, I see Tiararose as someone who has no common sense whatsoever. She's distrustful and spoiled, and she doesn't reflect on her actions (or inactions). In a way, she's very self-centered.

I understand jealousy, but not to the extent that Tiararose had dragged it on for. There's a fine line between being jealous that Aishira wants to get closer romantically to Aquasteed, and just not trusting that Aquasteed will choose her, Tiararose. She also doesn't trust Aquasteed enough to confide her worries. She merely bottles it up like she's supposed to be the "bigger person" for not making a huge fuss over it and then cries about it when she's alone, creating countless and pointless misunderstandings and frustration just to push the plot along.

True, she's technically in a game and her fears of Aishira stealing Aquasteed from her (because Aishira is the FL and Aquasteed is the Capture Target) is not unfounded, but she needs a better excuse than to continue blaming the game setting for her "insecurity".

If the world she was in truly followed the game logic, Tiararose wouldn't have been there to witness Aishira's attempts to "capture" Aquasteed in the first place.

Her very existence means that the whole premise of the game should serve as a reference, not a guarantee. However, she does not get that. She relies too heavily on the fact that she's in a game world to understand that things have changed because she's the one that changed it. She doesn't realize it and she still hasn't even at chapter 52. It's truly frustrating and I cannot stress this enough.

Moreover, she was so harsh to Akari for not following etiquette and dancing with Hartnight more than proper, but (where I'm at in the story) she sneaks out of the castle with a man who is not Aquasteed, her husband, to go to a place that is isolated from civilization with them two being alone and together. Oh, and did I forget to mention that she's currently the Crown Princess?

Now, if that ain't hypocrisy at its finest then I have no idea what is.

And other than receiving the blessings from faeries (that somehow did not exist nor have a variant of in her country despite the two countries being geographical neighbors), she has no redeeming qualities. Even having a domestic skill like baking really doesn't nearly do a good job filling the plot hole that is Tiararose.

[collapse]

TL;DR Spoiler: Basically, Tiararose has no substantial character growth after she broke off her engagement with Prince Hartnight. She "grows" because the plot dictates her to.

Character growth is dependent on how the character reflects on their actions, and Tiararose doesn't reflect until, like, the 10th repeat of the same instance. There is no testing-the-waters feel with her character growth. To me, her change seemed rather abrupt, like the plot was leaving her behind and Author-sensei couldn't be bothered to let Tiararose catch up on her own.

At this point in time, she merely feels like a narrator. If it weren't for the characters that interacted with her, breaking the immersion, it feels like she literally has nothing to do with the story. She made herself a side character, and not even a side character that I like.

I may be judging this story too early, seeing as I am only on chapter 52, but it's hard to continue reading a so-so plot when you truly dislike the main character if the story. <<less

Will add rating when a bit more comes out.

Do you want an independent woman who was thrown into an otome game at her destruction flag? Do you want to see how she stands up for herself without needing rescue from the Male Lead? This could be the novel for you. Nothing admittedly groundbreaking for the villainess lady genre but it will give you diabetes. The Male Lead swoops in like an eagle catching an unprepared rabbit, the sheer impact shocks the poor rabbit. This is my first otome novel where... more>> they talked about a sequel to the game that the MC has no knowledge about and in that case, the story has potential to go through many different routes. If you need a fluffy shoujo otome novel, this is definitely worth a try. Plus, the name of the Male Lead is absolutely nuts! Please welcome His Royal Highness, Aquasteed Marineforest. <<less

Well at first I instinctively wanted to rage at Tiararose like everyone else because of how insecure she is in the whole sequel heroine arc but the more I re-read this and the manga the more I kind of empathize with her.
...
Think about it like this. She was childhood friends with Hartnights and had a decent relationship with him, she never harassed Akari but the same condemnation event occurred. Akari also happens to be kind of a malicious idiot but she still manages to steal Hartnights who is supposed to be a kinda ideal prince. Purely by luck another prince, the ML of the sequel shows up and is for some reason in love with her despite never speaking to her before. She is whisked off without even knowing much about him other than the fact that he's nice. She's automatically hated by the water fairies of the water country and this unreadable shady prince has a SUUPER close personal AND work relationship with a childhood friend who is pretty, nice, of higher noble status than Tiara and loved by the water fairies. Furthermore events with the two keep on triggering and Aqua makes little effort to try and distance himself from the heroine at all despite seeing what happened with Hartnights. Tiara is a foreigner and her status wasn't super high so of course she couldn't complain openly about it and it's understandable she's afraid of being hated for being petty. Hartknights was her favorite and he hated her after the tiniest little scolding. The thing is Aqua should know better than anyone why Tiara is reluctant to complain or beg for attention. It's only natural that she can only really resent the heroine on the inside and she did not act out against the heroine. Have none of you never silently disliked anyone before? I don't blame Aishira for the misunderstandings but I found myself slightly peeved on behalf of Tiara. She was a nice girl and probably would understand if Aqua told her that he wanted a bit of space because he suspected that Tiara might be a bit shaken because of what happened to her. He keeps saying he wants to take the initiative to make Tiara happy, protect her and make her comfortable in this new country and that could've easily been done through this simple action. I mean he did say he would not go on the sea inspection that ONE time but it would've been so much more effective if he voiced his thoughts to either Tiara or Aishira or better yet both. He's in a much better position than Tiara to say something about it.

Though actually I probably wouldn't have been miffed at Aishira if she didn't end up liking prince Aqua romantically. I would've preferred her simply liking her work and thinking that his work ethic is admirable or just liking him in a sibling like way. It just felt a bit annoying that she was just predisposed to like Aqua. Her wearing dark blue all the time even at the wedding and almost interrupting ruined her for me. She definitely would've had Akari not grabbed her. She turned into worse Akari for a moment there... We already had a heroine in the first arc who was there to steal a prince. It would've been nice if the second one wasn't there to play the same role.

Tiara in a way is trying to be considerate. She thought about it and knew that Aqua and Aishira were good people so it wouldn't be alright to falsely accuse them just because she felt jealous. She didn't like that she was feeling that way and had been making an effort to adjust her thoughts.

I do wish that they gave Tiara a few more qualities other than cute, good at baking and unassertive. Like if she loved to write or she wished to travel or learn new magic or something that doesn't scream "I'M A PLAIN WAIFU AND NOTHING ELSE." But Aqua however darling he is was even more boring... He was cool during the first arc but he just got mildly irritating then boring after.

Perhaps the most interesting development was Akari learning to be a better person. Not a great one but a better one with more empathy.

I dropped this after the memory loss arc. I liked sweet stories but the balance is off with this one. It's too busy being angsty.

After the first 2-3 arcs, you can stop reading.

After that are pretty much just fillers that the author drags out. Nothing really happens, and nor is there any significant character development. Tiararose and Aquasteed's relationship is depicted very superficially, and at chapter 73 (in my opinion) still feels like total strangers. Once again, I'll like to repeat no character development happens after the first few arcs either (not that there's much happening thete either). So they all remain pretty shallow as characters. Furthermore, Tiararose becomes your typical heroine that somehow... more>> does nothing and something at the same time. I wish I could say the later arcs at least have good subplots, but they don't. They all are short and read like anticlimactic slice-of-life non-adventures. <<less

Eh. It's not bad. There's not much to judge bc only seven chapters have been translated, but it's the basic Otome Villainess Reincarnation story. The trope used is the one where the original protagonist of the game is actually an antagonist.

She does pretty well keeping her cool during the Engagement Break scene, but I do wish that she'd been given a chance to actually save herself. Aquasteed Marineforest (lol at the ridiculous names in this) ends up being the one to rescue her and redeem the status of the... more>> poor Damsel in Distress. What better way to prove she's not as pitiable or pathetic as one might believe after being dumped by the idiot prince/fiancé than to publicly get the approval of another prince? Male approval as a necessity for redemption/value as a female individual seems to be an overreaching theme. But the translations are pretty good, & the male lead seems cool so far, in that he takes her wishes into account when setting things up for them to be affianced. <<less

Before I jump into the story review, I just want to take a moment to say what is up with these names?!! Tiararose, Aquasteed, Hartnight, Marineforest... it's like the author just kept clicking the random word option on dictionary. com. Hilarious and painful at the same time. As for the story... it's good up until about chapter 25 (though I did switch to the raws so maybe some things got lost in translation). But, as I see it, the main villain suddenly becomes buddy buddy with the MC out of... more>> nowhere- I believe she refers to her as her "best friend" at some point. And the entire arc after she arrives in Marineforest is a bit... fanciful? It feels more like the story went off on a dozen long chapter tangent rather than continuing cohesively. But, for the first couple dozen chapters or so, the story isn't bad. <<less

This novel was fine at first, but then it's boring. It's only about the daily life of an insecure girl that can bake. I gave it a chance but I can't read it anymore.

The fluff was so so. Because everytime they kissed, the next day Tiara would became insecure again. It's tiring.

They're married now, I don't know how the author gonna milk the novel now and I don't want to find out.

Frankly, this is disappointing. If you would like to read a good story that's worthwhile then this will barely meet the mark.

The reasons why:

Spoiler

The story lacks character development and the plot is bland. The MC is quite toxic as the chapters go on. It's seems that as she becomes more in love with Prince Aquasteed (the names are ridiculous btw,) the more jealous and illogical she is. For example: when she met the sequel's heroine Aishira and noticed her kindness and lack of malice towards her, she had the audacity to think "It would be easier if she was like Akari." Akari was the heroine of the main game and was malicious during the first half. That left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Then the story goes on to have Tiararose be blessed by the forest fae and king (apparently it was extremely rare to be, even the original heroine was not blessed by any spirit king/queen.) That made it cliché as heroines always seem to be OP. The drama in the story was pathetic as well, from going to argue with the actual spirit queen of the sea over some of the loss of her sweets to befriending the sky king and making the sea queen jealous, which almost caused the destruction of the entire marineforest. What I find ironic, was that the out of all the characters, ranging from Akari to the sea queen, the one I actually hate the most was the main character herself. Tiararose was incredibly toxic, jealous and insecure despite being raised by a doting family for a good amount of time, and despite the constant love and assurance of Aquasteed, she still manages to nitpick every problem and be overcome with grief.

[collapse]

As for the saving graces of this story:

Spoiler

The only source of character development that I found was in Akari. She went from a spiteful villain hiding behind her heroine halo to a caring friend that was supportive, which was surprising. Aishira was a good addition because she truly was a good person that had realised her love for Aquasteed too late. Although I was disappointed when she almost stopped the wedding because of her realisation for her feelings, she still recognised her mistake and repented thanks to the help of Akari. Prince Aquasteed was your typical loving prince, the difference being that he didn't have a solid reason for loving Tiararose. I find it difficult to understand how someone can fall in love just from looking at someone else's different facial expressions from reading a book. However, he is unwavering and supportive so kudos to him.

[collapse]

Overall, I'd say the story is so-so. It's readable, the translation is fine and the settings are good, but it's not enjoyable. <<less

This story begins fine, just a bit cliche. I wasn't expecting a lot anyway and the first couple chapters are decent, just a satisfying revenge story with a logical MC. But after that, everything goes downhill.

The MC, named Tiararose (every name is atrocious btw), originally has backbone but she quickly dissolves into a generic blob. Now she's just a boring angelic sweetheart who blushes anytime her fiance, Aquasteed, so much as breathes (his name is so bad, I want to die).

The structure of the first arc holds it together because... more>> at least there's an actual antagonist. The villain keeps some tension and the way she's dealt with is satisfying. But the second arc lacks all of that and things start falling apart.
Spoiler

For no reason, the villain from the first arc suddenly becomes BFF's with the MC. On top of that, there's no antagonist in the second arc. The 'love rival' isn't remotely evil, so it just feels like a big waste of time. The worst thing she ends up doing is almost speaking up to disrupt the MC's wedding. But the side characters stop her instantly so nothing even happens. Honestly, I might've applauded her for ruining the wedding because at that point, I think I was brain-dead.

[collapse]

By now the plot has devolved into 'TEE-HEE!! Just baked some sweets!!!!! But oH NO??!! Someone stole them!??!!!' What an absolute joke. <<less

I first read some chapters of the Manga, but since the updates were too slow, I decided to read the novel.

a pretty good story, if only the author stopped at the end of the second arc. The story is really easy to predict but the first arc was really well done with a heroine who shows how much a good villainess' situation is absurd. The ML is also really sweet. All in all, the first arc could end the story, it would have been ok, even makes it a really solid read.

The second arc shows a rose-colored world

and the heroine's character takes a nose-dive with the usual cliche "if fates (the game's plot) is already written, it will most probably come true !" then ensue plenty of misunderstanding bla bla... with rival for the ML too but it was just lukewarm... I was reading till the end of second arc just to say "ha, knew it".

I was already planning to drop it at that point but still tried the third arc and, oh my ! it's even more unbearable to read, bye bye~~ xD

tldr : if you like novel with good villainess and sweet romance, read the first, maybe the second arc but know that you will probably lose your time after the second arc (though just reading first arc is enough to make you feel a completed work :)) <<less

Spoiler

The prince realizes he's in love with Tiararose and... she rejects him immediately for the LI (high spec prince). Although I don't particularly feel that it was wrong of her to reject him but, I can also say that it was somewhat unrealistic. She has been with him most of her life then because of this incident she quickly went to another guy. I seriously felt bad for the prince rather than for the protagonist and the LI because there was no emotional attachment towards anything but to the new LI. Best part though. was there are cute scenes of dating... yay?

[collapse]

Generally the issue is there is a lack of conflict or cathartic emotion. Things get resolved so quickly to the point that it feels like a fan fiction of a story the author has read, then decided to expand it and the fact it is a "reincarnated into a game" feels like a gimmick that was the premise then discarded. (I notice there is a tag for multiple reincarnated individuals but it doesn't give enough substance to want to see where that goes.) Perhaps the story picks up a new arc but I don't feel like it needs to be continued in any way.

I do like how cute it was but... it felt slightly unnecessarily long. It's not a bad series it's just not a very interesting series. The reason it's 1 star is because although it doesn't do much for me as a cute series (I don't consider it really good for the the sub genre of "cute story") it just feels unnecessary. It picks up with the LI proposing to the MC and then the scene (described above) just took me out of it because it was resolved so quickly that it feels like there is nothing to add to the series. There is no real tension and there's nothing to look forward to. The rating might be harsh but it's in light of the fact it's still an ongoing series and the story wasn't written well enough to want me to keep reading. <<less

Novel not recommended to read.

MC awakens her past memories as a Japanese girl who played an Otome game which is the world she lives in! MC is "the villainess" supposedly, but in reality of the novel and the world that she lives in, she's more of a timid insecure girl. Loving sweets and cooking, she's a very cute person. However, she faces several major threats early on.

Spoiler

First off, her scumbag fiancée abandons her for an evil scheming fellow Otome loving girl who also has memories of a past life who appears as the game's heroine. Second, the evil heroine girl tries to mu*der the MC. Third, the MC deals with her scumbag ML who doesn't give her security. Fourth, MC must face Aishira girl who is the ML's original heroine. Fifth, MC must deal with the sea fairy Queen who is lovelorn.

[collapse]

The main issue of the novel and manga is the sheer amount of filler. There's not much that the MC really gets to do other than worry or cook sweets. The ML Aquasteel prince is seriously lacking in giving the MC security.

Other people in the reviews complained about the MC but they don't seem to understand that the MC is in essence a weak willed girl with 0 backbone. She didn't manage to stop the evil heroine from interacting with the scum fiancée, she couldn't stop her ML from interacting with Aishira, and she barely managed to talk to the forest prince. The author never has the MC grow, but you can't really expect her to change. In fact without the intervention of others, Mc's own wedding to ML would've been entirely ruined. MC was always a weakling through and through. Author also makes it extra weird since MC seems like an exceptional woman at the start but it can just be considered as throwaway mentions of Mc's excellence since she never actually does anything great. It's like what scum fiancée said, MC is aware of her status. Frankly anyone could replace the MC and would be likely to do a better job as heroine as long as they have proper morals.

Now for the ML Aquasteel. People seem to have not caught on to how scum he is and keep looking at him as this perfect being. As the one with both the emotional upper hand and full knowledge of Mc's insecurities, he keeps teasing her instead of building her confidence slowly. Their communication is mostly about him finding her cute and is very one sided with him being fully in control. Their "romance" actually occurred over a very short time where he gave her mild reassurance in her kingdom (where there were no other girls to distract him) but the instant ML goes back to his own territory he spends more time with another girl than the MC. ML knows MC feels super insecure after leaving her family behind (who seriously didn't support her in any way after scum fiancée was going to have MC banished for 0 reason) but still feels no need to reassure the MC. MC only has a single maid and is entirely isolated entirely by the Ml's will. MC would have broken down completely if not for the generous Forest Fairy King arriving and putting the MC to rest so she could recuperate. Moreover, ML knew MC felt insecure about Aishira but purposely did nothing simply because he felt the MC was less valuable. It's ridiculous that the ML waits until the wedding with the MC to clearly declare for Aishira to stop interrupting his love with MC. Then in the further chapters ML finally starts to spend more time with MC, but once again things begin to happen again.

The novel is extremely depressing watching all the characters either fail the MC or expect things from her she can't do. Nobody seems to ever get the MC to explain her heart honestly, not even the ML as of yet, and no one takes the time to sit down with her and have a heartfelt talk.

-300tril/10 Not nearly enough romantic fluff to save a weak story and weaker characters. <<less

Okay so first review ever (yey!)

Now this story is a pretty interesting fit into the whole "villaness otome game" genre. It follows a young girl by the name of Tiararose (different) who pretty much gains her past memories. From the looks of it the memories don't really effect her. They just give her the knowledge of future happenings i.e destruction route. Best part so far is that there's no weird 180 in personality! I'm going to say: the manga is better.

I came from the manga and it's well portrayed. You root for the MC, the side characters feel like people, and the ML is to die for. The LN? Kinda sucks. It's barely coherent, the descriptions of people and places feel like they were an afterthought, and we aren't given a reason to like the MC.

I've read ahead on the original, so this is more of a synopsis of what to expect with some general plot spoilers:

Essentially, this is an Otome game plot featuring the love rival engaged to the prince, except as soon as the prince dumps her, the prince from the sequel picks her up. She only vaguely knows about the sequel, so she experiences uncertainty and jealousy.

In other words, the villainess of the first game immediately becomes the heroine of the sequel/expansion.

As for the quality of the story, it isn't fluffy or... more>> too serious with the drama, so more light-hearted drama that only lasts a few chapters with each incident. It's okay but a bit plain. <<less

Karma train is fast in this one...

Cute pure MC and a mysterious, gallant and vaillant prince, good c*cktail that will melt your heart... You may get diabete after reading this...

Antagonnists that you will hate but the autor seems to want you to pardon them...

At chapter 13 the novel could end just fine so dont stop reading before this chapter...

But the bigger picture seems to be still hidden so I will stick close to this...

Finally a novel with a bit of common sense. You just don't casually steal a man who is already promised to marry someone else. Also with people who has a common decency to know what was right from wrong. They weren't as easily manipulated like the idiotic prince.

For once, the MC is not humiliated by her ex-fiance and the damn heroine in front of everyone and she defended herself from the senseless accusations.

What I don't like is the heroine awakening her powers, she didn't deserve it. Anyone can see just... more>> how self-centered she was. Still, it's great the ex-fiance prince realized his mistakes. You just don't throw away 10 years worth of relationship for someone you just met, you give her the benefit of a doubt and a chance to defend herself.

Good for the MC to meet a prince like Aqua. Although I think the naming sense of the author is a bit corny, that may pass since they did a decent story like this. <<less

Dropped at 27.
There is nothing to love about these characters. We can't even say this story has characters. The MC is too meek to be followed. Pacing has great problems. The story is just badly written, there is no heaviness about it. The translation is not good either. I don't know why I was stubborn to read this far.

Can't understand how can a person can give this story higher than 2 stars.
