Sang Yuanyuan transmigrated into a sadistic romance ancient fantasy novel, becoming the male lead’s ill-fated beautiful white moonlight that died early.

The design of the cultivation system is decent, especially considering it’s not the focus of the story at all. The MC’s cultivation is a minor subplot, if anything, and is generally happening in the background of whatever is happening in the plot at the moment. Doesn’t play a big role in terms of the story and is mostly in the background If you’re looking for a progression fantasy, I would not recommend this.

I would recommend this if you’re looking for:

  • A well-thought-out plot
  • Colourful characters
  • A sprinkle of mystery
  • An actually intelligent MC
  • A more-than-slightly unhinged ML
The author’s approach to the ML’s mental instability is refreshing to say the least. The author skillfully balances between romanticising his behaviour and actually pointing out how unhealthy and toxic it is. The MC is fully aware of this and I liked how she doesn’t delude herself (or us, the reader) into thinking he is in love with her because she is so beautiful/special/intelligent/blah, blah, blah like some Mary Sue. She takes him for what he is: a sadistic lunatic with random impulses of paranoia and violence. She keeps in mind remembers that he was the villain of the story for a very good reason. <<less

Disclaimer: It's been a while since I finished this, so I'm writing this based solely on that I remember loving this and binge reading it because I couldn't put it down.

For the premise (which I feel like is pretty common and can be over done), this novel was complex. The FL/ML's past/history were uncovered bit by bit and really contributed to the depth of the story. I was especially drawn to how capable, calm, and SMART the FL was. When you have an OP ML like in this story, the... more>> FL can become a damsel-in-distress type character, so it was refreshing that she held her own.

What I lived for was the relationship between the FL and ML. They felt like an actually healthy couple and I remember cheering for them as the story progressed. FL's family was also really sweet. <<less

I read up until the 5th chapter, when I realized that the premise the author set up isn't very believable at all. I continued reading, but I was just sort of bothered. There's no such thing as a romance novel that will have the male lead treat the female lead as a rebound. The premise is that the FL of this story is the dead love of the og ML and the og FL is the 'replacement' of sorts. Not to mention the dude has 2 wives already but one... more>> dies. It's just so obvious that the author made the setting so that readers would immediately side with the FL and that's not exactly compelling story telling. If you can get past the weird transfiguration set up, the rest of the story is alright. Nothing spellbounding or particularly impressive. If you want something similar to this hut good, I'd recommend The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus. That's all. <<less

This novel hooked me in because of the aggressive and straight-forward relationship between You Wuming and Sang Yuanyuan from the very beginning! A mentally unstable guy and a queen actress got to grow feelings for each other in the most unconventional way. Besides this, You Wuming's psychological analysis of others is mind-numbing. My favorite part is his figuring out the puppet's patter behavior when it goes out of ML's control.

On the other hand, I couldn't cope well with the adventure and xuanhuan parts, so I just skipped the story from... more>> ch. 97 to the final chapter. All in all, the story is refreshing, though. <<less

It's hilarious. Be prepared to laugh every chapter. This author has a way with words and it just makes you want to laugh, even if the chapter is about a bloody battle between MC and a demonic monster, it'll still be heart pounding and funny at the same time. While it is not the best story and there might be a few small kinks (run on descriptions about world building and cultivation), this is still a very good book to read.

This is the romance I always come back to.

Just the right amount of romantic drama (I usually don't prefer to much of it), more intrigue/plot then romance

Having said that, the way that the author wrote the characters is unforgettable! Multi dimensional FL n ML, with a lot of character growth. You as the reader grow with SYY in her relationship with YWM.

Plus, there's a healthy amount of face slapping!

It’s actually pretty entertaining because of all the cliches that the couple busted in the story. I think both the MC and ML are both interesting characters. MC which was the female lead is sorta like a happy go lucky kinda gal with just enough righteousness and selfishness. If there’s anything to criticize, it just seemed a bit realistic that she didn’t have a main goal like all people in real life. Unlike in many novels, main characters would have a dream or goal in their life, like have successful... more>> career or love life. But her story is like rly fast paced and it seemed like she just got swept by each turn of events. But I enjoyed the ride, it’s interesting and the ML is interesting too. Ending is a bit anti-climactic due to ML ending up very OP already in the end. But it’s actually kinda more realistic given the opportunities that piled up on their shoulders like every protagonist deserves. Can’t say I want something in the book to change- it’s not perfect but it seems right the way everything fell into place. <<less

This novel is really good. Its totally worth your time to read it. At first, I was shocked when I looked at how many chapters it is. There are so many parts because the translator segment the chap into many part. And I am not someone that like to read novel that have more than 200+ chapter and I'm scared that I will just stop and abandoned reading this. But this novel really hooked me up and I just can't stop until I know the ending! Really worth it!

And oh... more>> I love how smart the FL was through out the journey after she transmigrate to the book. The ML really doted himself to FL with his own way and I just love their dynamic together. <<less

Three words. I love it! (⁠✯⁠ᴗ⁠✯⁠) This is like a breath of fresh air from all the similar transmigration tag novels. It got me captivated. I love the way how author pay attention to world building and characters development. Every single character in the novel exist for a reason. They have their own sense of logic instead of being airhead. Well, I do agree that Han Shao Ling and Meng Wu You are sc*mbag, but they are indeed many of such people in reality, so I do understand the reason why they are like that.

Love the way how SYY scolded MWY at the end, it felt so satisfying and at the same time emphasize on how woman can be independent on themselves. Totally agree with the author if we want to enjoy a good life, don't expect it to just drop down from the sky without putting any effort. At the end, blame other people's good life for it. Life is unfair, that's true, but as long as we try our best, we can at least pave way for ourself (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠)

Definitely LOVE the fluff and comedy from our SYY and YWM! Omaigod, they are literally the BEST! Ship them forever, they got me hooked! I felt heartbreak for ML past, fortunately there is FL by his side to soothe all the pain away~

This had been sitting in my To-read list for months and I finally got round to reading it when I needed a break from trying to translate another novel.

I really enjoyed reading this, typically I get bored as there is alot of repetitiveness especially with recurring love rivals, but not here. There is a pesky supposed ML of the original book who keeps popping up, but because of the way You Wuling our ML and Sang Yuanyuan OUR MC deal with him is always entertaining and fresh.

There was some sympathy... more>> towards Original ML especially in their last meeting, as he wasn’t truly a bad person, just a human with very human faults, and he was very much our typical ML character with the attributes I normally enjoy in a ML - arrogance, fierce, dominating (I do not have issues, I DON’T) with a depth of character that as a reader and the original FL is drawn to. But at the same time there is some oddly satisfying watch the Villain and MC constantly out manoeuvring and outsmarting him.

Duan Ming and the Puppet. YES, just yes. These two made this novel for me and honestly the main comedic part of it for me personally, they are just too adorable.

You Wuling our ‘villain’. There has been a few reviews which originally put me off reading this but honestly, I do have a soft spot for villains as I’m of the camp of no-one is born inherently bad and YWM is no exception, he was created by circumstance and the people around him who he should have been able to trust. But he has his own morals, and bottom line and he does show remorse in his own way.

I like that the MC wasn’t all-powerful, and because of that it made the comparison between to MC and Original FL so much funnier in their interactions, because original FL was so exaggerated and OTT the majority of the time (ok all the time) and was very typical for a lot of Mary Sue like MC’s, which gets old and boring very quickly, I find a MC with no faults is not only unrelatable but it also takes you out of the story. But our MC has just the right levels of power and personality, she is neither too much or too little and keeps you on your toes with her antics from start to finishing. Riding her Chomper Flowers will never not make me giggle.

All in all, this was an enjoyable read with a good balance of comedy, romance, politics and cultivation genres.

I really enjoy how well FL handled her transmigration - she knows she's destined for an early death if the plot carries on, sticks to her principles of "100% never staying with the scumbag" and decides to go for the psycho villain, because at least he's OP enough to level the playing field with the OP scumbag.

The way she subsequently handled the villain, who then becomes her ML love interest, is also fascinating to read - she subtly but firmly manipulates him into leaving her alive out of sheer curiosity at first (WHO IS THIS ODD CREATURE THAT CLAIMS TO LOVE ME) and gradually that little interest depends into real, mutual love in their own ways. Their relationship really brings out the best in them AND encourages them to improve for each other. Heck, ML even becomes so much more considerate of MC's feelings that he wants to live on for her and his decisions later take into consideration her reactions as well!

The side couple of MC's crossdressing older brother and the warriorqueen is also just excellent~ Dude's so flirty and confident when in his female guise, but once he changes into his male garments, he's so awkward to the point where the warriorqueen has to be the one to instigate things most of the time... Tsk tsk tsk.

She teaches him a good lesson in taking their relationship for granted at the river banquet by constantly rejecting any paired flowers of hers that he picks up. Ultimately he grows a pair and straightout delivers a matching set of flowers directly to her in front of everyone present, thus clearly confirming their relationship in public.

This is a great story! Loved how the FL subdued the ML from madness to doting husband. The story is also interesting and kept me reading from start to finish... couldn’t put it down. The plot twists weren’t clichés. I really liked the whole novel

so the novel was phenomenal. I was honestly not expecting the plot. There are loads of novels with plots where cannon fodders try desperately to fight against destiny but this one had such an in-depth dealing with the heavens will and fate that you just get hooked.

both of our main characters are people who depend on each other. Even if in the eyes of others they are seen as villains, they were ready to stand by each other's side and become heroes of their own story.

5/5 because I liked the ending, the main and side characters were fun with unique personalities, the plot was interesting despite it being quite twisted and at times confusing, and overall fun to read with a good balance between comedy and information. I definitely want to reread this in the original text one day.

You Wuming, the ML, is like a hedgehog at the beginning. Full of suspicion and doubts. It's because he's very dedicated to revenge. There are times that you can see that other than revenge, he got no direction at all. But he's also innocent and a little tsundere. So that's one. The ML has a lot of negatives. The second is that, the people around them made it to be a little heavy (the situation about humanity vs demons, humans vs humans, etc.)

However, I really doubt my intelligence while reading this. There are some chapters that up until now, I didn't understand. Don't get me wrong, it's really explained, it just that, my brain cannot catch up with the explanation— or rather, it was my imagination that doesn't. Anyway, thank you very much for the extra chapters. At first, I was confused by the turns of events in the extra chapters. Good thing it was explained at the end though. Enjoyable but rather complex novel of supposedly transmigration but FL is really been transplanted elsewhere for 6 yrs, came back and slowly unravelled the mysteries in her world.

‘Little Mulberry’ gained super powers with fat faced plants and Chomper flowers. ML gained flame wings and was basically invincible. They were accompanied by a loyal greed cloud beast and a cute but at times creepy puppet. Lots of fighting scenes hat we’re a bit hard to grasp whether due to the descriptions or the translation I’m not sure.
