Yoon Eden lived the life of a B-tier idol who managed to get by. He is an idol of 7 years with fixed dead-fish eyes and the artist disease.

[The 30,000th fan is disappointed in you!] [You have met the requirements.] [Project Regaining Your Original Mindset for the Idol that Lost His Original Mindset has started.]

A day before he was withdrawing from the team, he was sent to the beginning of his debut, when he was a flop, to remember his original mindset.

[※When your original mindset becomes 0, you will restart!] [※To complete the project, you must meet the requirements!] [You, who have disappointed 30,000 fans, must make 30 million fans happy! (0/30,000,000)]

On top of that, to stop regressing infinitely, there’s an atrocious requirement of becoming an A-tier idol!

“f*ck, my Cheongdam-dong house! My hundred millions of royalties! My savings account! My Ferrari!”

[Profanity has been detected.] [Degree of Original Mindset -2]

From his original mindset that is cut down just by breathing, and the pouring fan love quests, to the penalty for incompletion!

A time of clearing up karma starting at the semi-basement dormitory for the idol who lost his original mindset and was hit properly by karma!

This is a must read. I feel like this story is such a breath of fresh air among other regressor idol novels (don’t get me wrong I love all of them). What I think makes this novel so unique is that there’s no using the system to level up skills, and other regressor tropes. The MC is literally doing everything through his own talent. Yes, he does take advantage of what he knows about the future (only sometimes tho).

I agree with CooCooBird about how this story is basically Eden’s growth... more>> story. I love how he navigates his relationships and how he doesn’t rely on the fact that he’s a regressor. With how he acts sometimes I forgot he was one lol.

There’s a lot of funny stuff happening and overall a very lighthearted novel. There’s some drama though, but because Eden’s mentality is made of vibranium he shrugs them off easily.

A comment from kkp summarizes the story well
Spoiler

Reading Eden’s POV, the genre is comedy while if we read it through CYH’s POV it’s a drama

Idol MC has forgotten his original intention, no longer cares about his fans, and has an attitude problem. He is forced to regress and be a respectable idol. He gets docked points by the system every time he does something against the character of a good idol.

This was funny! MC isn't a good person in a strict sense, but you'll still end up cheering him on.

Wow. A composer with a personality problem who has to fix said personality is exactly what I wanted, and it's so good! There's a lot of awesome things I could say about this series, but probably the most important thing is our MC, Eden. He is just so different from other regression MCs - unlike the others who are like calm and know how to deal with whatever problems pop up, Eden has maxed out his music stat and pretty much hasn't developed anything else. He's unbelievably fun.

For example, when... more>> the system issues punishment that causes one to cough up blood, other MCs would walk this off like it's not serious, but Eden -

Eden *screams*: Ahh! I'm dying! I'm dying!

System: No, this is just a punishment. There's no long lasting effects.

Eden: Do you think it's normal for a perfectly fine body to cough blood?! I must be dying!

System: Think of it like a game or-

Eden *screaming*: Help! Help! Somebody call 911!

Although this series has a LOT of fun idol stuff, it's also very much Eden's character story - about how to become a better human and, in turn, letting others help you be happy. Around chapter 175 or so, Eden apologizes for the first time, and it was... so good. You just saw this person realize why they were wrong in their first life and grow from that, and wow. Anyway, do try the first 20 chapters (which are free). Whether you end up liking the series or not will depend a lot on whether you like Eden or not, and the first 20 chapters give a good indication of what kind of narrator he is. <<less

Jerkass 9000 meets idol system basically tailored to train his personality so he's at a normal person level (wait, wasn't the goal to get 30 million fans? well whatever).

The main appeal is relationship navigation and reading the main character finally form emotional regulation and intelligence. Yoon Eden is seriously a treat by the way, with a story that flip flops between wanting to see his comeuppance and cheering for him to beat the idol system. It's all really funny by the way and features some of the most dynamic idol... more>> group members. The members don't give the best first impression, but here's a secret: (that's because our narrator is Yoon Eden). Just genuinely interesting characters with great chemistry. Drama's amazing too, some real bitter stuff. Every chapter past the 40-50 range (I think) is really funny....

Really worth giving a chance to if you like idol novels for their drama (and if enjoy fun healing element right after the drama hahaha). The activities are okay and the MVs aren't the most exciting but it's consistently funny because the general writing style is fun.

edit: aside from the normal review, my own bias is that I madly love this novel... <<less

i just read in initial chapter the story is okay and interesting but dam I really hate the member like they want became famous but with no hardworking. Especially the visual one he the most talented member and have audacity to complaining about this and that. If I am him I be embarrassed and grit my teeth and try to match up my team member. No wonder the MC hv dead eyes with all problem revolve around his self I thought he is saint not try drugs or anything like... more>> that and just wanna escape from the company. The story is hilarious and has potential to adapted as k-drama <<less

It's a funny novel. It definitely feels more slice of life and is less dark than let's say "Debut or Die" or "The tr*shy PD Has To Survive as an Idol." The system feels very arbitrary though, and I'm confused on how I'm supposed to view it. It's not as cold and cruel as the actual system in Debut or Die and its no where near as empathetic as the system in tr*shy PD. It's just something thats... there. Giving tasks and managing Eden as if its a toxic idol... more>> manager. I suppose we're to see the system as just a thing that's there to push the plot along? I kind of wish the system gets a more defined role later on, but it's fine if it doesn't since the main focus of the story is more on Eden fixing his broken relationships with his friends and colleagues. I kind of wish there was more serious drama or that Eden's friends outside of his group were focused on more since they feel a tad forgettable so far. The underground scene and how they view idols and how that relationship might change over the coming years would be fun I think.

I don't know why, but while reading this, I couldn't help but think about a manhwa called "A Tidal Wave of Glory." The MC in that manhwa loves composing and producing his own songs too, so you might like reading that one too! <<less

I've been looking for a main rapper MC idol novel for a while and I'm glad I found this one.

So from what I've read unlike others I've read this one focuses on relationships that surround the MC with him being someone who struggles to understand emotions and how the things he says or does affect those around him.

It isn't a bad plot at all, it's enjoyable however the pacing is that of a snail.

My biggest dislike in this novel is that the villains have to poke the protagonist first for... more>> the plot to move on and for him to do something.

Cons

    1. Pacing -it's really slow, MC reviving his group for 200 chapters is alright, but another 200 chapters for another TV show the MC does ALONE is a bit of stretch.
    1. Promotions - When it comes to promoting their music at music shows we only get half a chapter of them, like it's literally a summary
    1. Competition-Theres two groups that compete them group A, being the best atm and then Group B they have a past with MC and his group mate hajun. Conflict between MCs group and these three drags for a long time, MC doesn't even warn his teammates about these guys sly behavior at all even after the antagonist from group A confronted one of his members, but MC does Nothing, he says he wants to bring them down when they are very popular? What for when u can just destroy them at their weakest??? He even mentioned there's no way there would be manipulation in terms of awards and so (that's naive for a mentally 27 year old mc)
    1. MC and Hajun have the most annoying storyline that loops everytime group B just exists, Hajun could've spoken up about his issues but he kept silent then blamed the MC. MC seems to be the only one who has to carry blame in that group, despite him trying his best this time around. Him being a character who doesn't think before he speaks he isn't to blame for a lot of the groups inefficiencies but in his past life he was at fault.
    1. Unfair ridiculous system-MC is at fault for wanting to pursue his dreams and for being genuine so he has to regress, save his group but he can't even keep being himself, his personality has to change to accommodate everyone, mind you his teammates were aware of his personality (from what I read and noticed with the first Regression) but barely tried to explain to him, they would only say hey it's how u said it or you shouldn't have done that but never explained to him why and MC wasn't interested either (what did they expect if that's how they responded?)
    1. Group A, the antagonist from this group has harmed MC and MC has suspected many times that it's them but he comes back after being harmed then forgets about it for 200 chapters and does nothing despite being suspicious. And why is the antagonist so dumb, a simple guess game, where he can tell whats up with MC, he just keeps rejecting what's obvious (plot armor for mc? I don't even know what to call making the villain an idiot for the sake of the plot)
    1. The unnecessary long chapters about the group members just chilling, practising, making music. And They've gone to three reality shows atm at 400 chapters, why just 3 in just 400 chapters?
    1. Why isn't our protagonist sabotaging any of his competitors? He's too normal like he just releases music, take pics and hopes his fans stream?? His competitors group A and B both have a high advantage against his group and he likes neither of them n they don't like him and his group either so why is it he's just leaving it to the fans?
    1. Scandals, dating rumors, b*lling*, plagiarism are all solved in just half a chapter or in a chapter (so imagine reading 10 chapters each about a dance practise or a live stream lol)
Pros-

    1. Hip hop storyline was really needed, it was different and new for me, to find one in an idol novel so 5stars
    1. Author seems to like referencing real life events which makes reading funny or nostalgic
    1. I for one, like MCs personality of being a blunt speaker, who lacks emotional intelligence but is trying to learn but it seems that his fault was being his true self. After Regression his personality is more fleshed out, he's still a bit blunt, learning but he's also showing a bit of vulnerability.
    1. Though he does Nothing most of the time, he's at least good at avoiding evil editing lol, knows what to do, lead his team and is smart just not that cunning, not at the level of 'tr*shy Pd has become an idol' anyway. He did get back at group B, but to me since it took so long and it was a roller coaster it wasn't that satisfying (so half a con)
    2. The villain from group A isn't just a Villain, hes someone who has his own reasons for going up against MC, which he also wants to save his own group just as MC wants to. He seems desperate and has some regrets towards his own group. I liked that it isn't a 'I don't like your face so I must make your life miserable' (lol) but rather he too, is serious about saving his group but it doesn't make me the reader cheer for them.
    1. When it comes to writing and ideas, it's very interesting and enjoyable to read
So to say, this novel isn't just about the Idol life the focus is on MC and his relationships, his growth and what he learns. So it's very slow paced like we're reading someone's life or biography, I don't mean this in a rude way or anything. The pacing is really slow but not unbearable to read. <<less

A review after 30 chapters for those undecided if they want to start.

MC is from a failed idol group from an incompetent company, and has long become tired and disillusioned. His bad attitude makes him disliked by basically everyone, from his groupmates to his fans. He gets Truck-kunned 7 years to the past to the day of his debut, forced by a system to be better at idol-ing or start over again and again. MC has a refreshing personality for a protagonist of this kind of story, being more blunt,... more>> rude, and generally not taking into account other peoples' feelings - he was also already pretty rough even before he debuted the first time, so he isn't this way just because his previous experiences made him jaded. He's an entertaining protagonist to follow as a reader and is also being set up for major character growth.

Standard kind of idol plot with an especially entertaining execution and an MC I like reading about. 5/5 for me so far. <<less

EDIT: I definitely rated this 5 stars!! I don't know why it was saved as only one. 😭 Recommending this not because the story is particularly unique or groundbreaking but simply because I like the MC. He's not weak, sickly, otherworldly beautiful, a doormat, a transmigrator, or an iceberg. He's got real personality, and his gradual growth into becoming a good leader and someone who enjoys being an idol (without losing his interesting personality!!) is genuinely fun and rewarding to watch. His fellow idol members have a lot of personality as... more>> well, and they all bounce nicely off of each other. MC also doesn't have a golden finger or any cheating abilities. He's got real skill, which is a nice change of pace!

If that sounds like your kind of thing, give it a go. <<less

I've really enjoyed this novel so far!

Spoilers alert!

Honestly, I started the novel with quite low expectations due to the MC, Eden, showing such attitude issues at the beginning. I thought I would feel uncomfortable with his character, but surprisingly, his character becomes more and more likable without becoming boring the more I read. As the story progresses, you will see that he is not that bad. On the contrary, he's quite a sweet guy with unique and interesting aspects in his personality. At first glance, he seems to be the... more>> type that doesn't use his brain well, much like a shounen manga's MC in the old age. His strengths seem to lay mostly in his musical talent and superhuman body. But he's actually not just that. It's really funny because he's the type that can be very intelligent when dropped into an environment where he has to survive on his own, but when there's someone with a better brain that he can rely on, he would just outsource his brain to that person without a minute of hesitation 🤣. Also, it's refreshing to have an idol MC who is a rapper, a leader, and a producer and has a rather straightforward personality without being brainless as well as an extremely strong body. Also, Eden's emotions were portrayed and explained well in the novel, so instead of making me feel annoyed, they made me feel more relatable. Thanks to those emotions and his past before the regression, the positive changes in Eden's character and his relationships with others as the story goes also feel very satisfying. He really makes me feel like a mom who watches her hopeless son gradually grow up and become more and more mature and reliable. It's to the point that I can reflexively say something like "our Eden might be a bit rude, but he's still a nice kid" whenever someone says something bad about him lol.

Also, though the story also unfolds the emotions and growth of other characters, Eden seems to always be the center of everything. As someone who prefers mc-focused stories (but still not to the point of a mc-solo story), this is exactly my cup of tea. I especially love the arc where Eden participated in a famous rapping show. Mannn, every single chapter with him in the show is so enjoyable that I think I can re-read it from time to time. So far, those chapters have been when he shined the brightest. I still hope there would be more opportunities for him to shine like that in the future though.

His system is also a pretty good one. It's not at all pushy about achievements, but it rather just wants to shape Eden into a good idol, who would not have to stray the way he did in the original timeline. I'm glad that I don't have to be annoyed with the system at all since it seems to be absolutely on mc's side. I also like that even though the system helps Eden here and there, Eden's skills completely came from his own talents, efforts, experiences, and enlightenments. And because he is very serious about music, it hits even harder when I read about his struggles during the slumps.

Though the trope about insufficient/manipulated memories is seen quite often nowadays, I'm still glad that the author added that to the story as it gives the story the mysterious aspects that intrigue readers. It also provides the tension that prevents the story from being boring with only a transparent regression where we already know full well about the mc's past.

One thing I also like is Eden's name lol. The author definitely had the Garden of Eden in mind as they gave him that name (proven by the account names of his fans in the novel). The pristine garden that was still vulnerable to evils really suits Eden's narrative, especially when you think about the meaning of his tattoos, his personality, and the events in the past before the regression.

I highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys idol novels. It also has a manhwa version with quite good arts (really, Eden looks both handsome and pretty there, so I love it), so you can also give it a try. <<less
