My Husband is Suffering from a Terminal Illness

Xie Yang struggled in the post-apocalyptic world for many years until he was too tired to go on. Then he transmigrated into a young adult entertainment circle novel where the protagonists have easy, sweet, and satisfying lives.

The male protagonist of the novel is not just handsome and smart, he’s also reborn. The female protagonist of the novel is not only beautiful and works hard towards her dreams, she also has a cheat in her hands.

There’s a lot of male and female supporting roles, each having pretty face, nice figures and someone strong behind them. Get into any one of their bodies, and he could close his eyes and just enjoy life. But he didn’t. Instead he transmigrated into a young idol secretly married to the biggest villain of all — the male protagonist’s maternal uncle.

His title is husband but it’s more like a nurse. Because this novel’s biggest villain is a terminally ill patient who is gloomy and sick in the head (actually sick). Their marriage was to counter the bad luck (illness).

Xie Yang: Who cares if you’re the male lead, female lead, male supporting, female supporting, villain or protagonist. Get in the way of my comfortable life and you’ll die (:

One thing I find it interesting in this novel is the undeniable fact that "information is everything".

This novel, both the MC and the original Female Lead of this novel, both of them have golden finger, an ability.

The female lead has the ability to make other people be brainwashed by her and obedient towards her.

... more>> While the MC (Xie Yang) has the ability to nullify the female lead's ability.

The female lead's ability was actually omnipotent, as long as she has someone who love/like her (as example like fans, or those who has good impression towards her when looking at her good deeds), then she could increase her ability and exchange of those goodwill points into many other things, even changing her face and voice and many other thing.

While the MC is actually in disadvantage. The MC's ability is an ability that need upgrading slowly, and could not get instant power. More importantly MC's ability is only nullifying the female lead's brainwashing ability and could not be exchanged into anything.

However, in the war between those two people with otherworldly abilities, the MC won in the end.

Looking at it in a simple way, the reason why the MC won was of course because he is the MC, the protagonist of this novel, how could he be defeated?

However, when reading this novel, there is this interesting details, of the reason why did the MC won. It's because between those two rivals, only the MC knew that the female lead has the ability, while the female lead knows nothing about the MC's ability.

Information, confidential information, is indeed something that could make even an impossible war to end in different side.

If only the female lead knows the MC has the ability to nullify her power and give vaccine to people so that they could not be brainwashed by the female lead again, I think the female lead would most likely win. Because in the term of "resource", the female lead has more advantages because she could exchange anything using her goodwill.

The female lead is actually a smart and cunning person, a hardworking one who knows who to choose to brainwash to make her life better.

This is really the irrefutable fact.

Information is really a scary thing. Confidential information is more so.

No wonder in the cold war one country fight so hard to obtain many "informations" about the other countries, because it is really precious and could be used to win the war between parties.

Talking about the plot of the novel,

The premise of this novel is not new, or perhaps it is just me who read this novel later than the other novel with similar premise with this one. Eitherway, the plot definitely not something unique.

Despite the mainstream premise, the plot is quite engaging. There is this danger when writing about entertainment novel, "over-exaggerating". The author of entertainment novel often exaggerate the plot about the case of shooting one movie into 30 chapters, or often exaggerate the "popularity" or "the talents" of the MC in the entertainment circle.

This novel surprisingly could give me a decent amount of entertainment plots, rival plots, scheming plots, business plots, family plots, and lover plots, in a balance manner.

The way the plot was divided decently and appropiately without giving it a sense of "too much" really earned my good will towards this novel.

The last thing, the ML IS SUPER CUTE!

HE'S THE EPITOME OF TSUNDERE!

His mouth really betrayed his heart and his action. It is the first time I actually encounter a very shy and conservative seme/gong/top!

His shyness really is amazing! To the point he said, "let's not have s*x until we hold our wedding."

Ahhhh, where!!!????

Where can I found a seme like this nowadays?

If I'm not mistaken, all the seme will definitely pounced on the uke the moment they have a chance, right? Hahha!

He's really cute! <<less

With the oversaturation of similar novels and tropes used, the main characters here shine with their mini moments of interaction. Apart from that, the main lead remains too OP that there does not seem to be any tension needed to be concerned of his fate.

With the vissicitudes of work, life and more, I found myself getting more bored the more I read it. This is a good novel to pass time when you need it but I would not say its a captivating read. So 3/5.

Slow-burn. Arranged marriage. Business Partners-to-Friends-to-Lovers. Intrigue. Family Drama. Fluff. Supernatural abilities.

The development of the relationship between the MC and ML is solid and steady. Both men act intelligently but are occassionally emotional and make human mistakes, which deepens their characters in a good way. The side-characters are not dropped, and their relationship with the main characters develop too. The MC's (secret) powers and background are insanely useful for his specific situation but aren't an insta-fix (as compared to the FL/Villainess), so he works hard for what he wants to accomplish.... more>> In fact, everyone works hard--even the bad guys--which makes the story more believable.

I like the Entertainment world setting with the barest hint of supernatural/system background to keep things interesting and provide a bit of mystery. I don't follow celebrities in IRL and I don't think (even in China) that anyone can control the flow of fans so well, but the comments of the Netizens act as another kind of character, which also grows and develops with the story and also gives the readers a way to see themselves inside the story.

Glad I chose to read it and looking forward to reading the rest as it is translated. <<less

OMG I love it, I love their relationship so much gaaaghh shssjsk. The interaction between MC and ML is the best part of this novel for me and it is my favorite part throughout the whole book. I love their bickering, mocking, insulting, teasing BUT caring “behind doors” relationship. I love I love it so much I don’t know how can I express my love for it.! And the great thing is that they kept that bickering interaction even after getting together for real. I love this novel, my heart... more>> soo full! I just forgot all my stressful studies in library and my exams from last week. I am so happy and soft!!!woohoo Happy holidays guys<3. Immersive, captivating and expressive detailed story telling. The kind of novel I have been on the look out for in shoujos and jouseis but couldn't/hardly find.

I can't praise if enough for it's perspective rich narrations, not completely erasing original MC nor the MC before transmigration. Both have their own individualities and you also get a glimpse of MC's lifestyle and situation before transmigration.

Yes, he's OP but I don't think it's written in a way that's too cringy, instead it highlights him quite well with his c*cky personality.

Idk what the low... more>> raters are ranting about because tags says it all. Modern time showbiz is heavily social media reliant and the author paints the scenes well, even to the performances. You can tell author knows enough to make the story realistic. (If you want to say it's too overly dramatic, so are irl conflicts between celebrities.

Also some negative reviews claim the MC doesn't care about public opinion, which is BS. There's literally one scene where he gets mad at the comments, but he has the level of self control and not let the flow of social media get to him. He knows how to prioritize and he needs to know public opinion since it sways easily and it's necessary as a CEO and idol.)

It's not an heavy handed win win win situation, the side characters show their own wits or lack of, whether being on MC's team or on the opposition. Their own thinking, character and actions don't follow an obnoxious cannon fodder way that you often would see in shoujos and jouseis for example. The hostility would be subtle and a lot of mind games are played. It's not only has entertaining schemes and exchange of wits but also interesting supernatural bits.

As for the ML, because of the slow romance (which is also in the tags) the interactions with MC is sparse. But time to time it will show different sides of him, creating a gap moe of iceberg-CEO with some fragility and harmonious fun bickering with MC.
But overall, it does fall flat on romance since everything is left in a fade out situation when things get even slightly heated, even kisses are quite blandly described (but for that, their sweet acts for each other stand out more). What I want to say is, their synergy has been the same ever since the ML got to know MC, from a caring elder role to a more clingy tsundere lover. <<less

I cried. I really envy the love between the two. Overall rating: 4.5.

The setting of the story is modern day and the general theme revolves around face-slapping in the entertainment and business industry, family drama, and romance between the overbearing rich president and a person originally from the apocalypse period that transmigrated into the body of a novel's cannon fodder. The general plot is not unique - I've seen a lot of stories that follow a similar plotline of from the bottom of the ladder to the top, etc.

But the... more>> story and their feelings were beautifully written. And I was moved. And also jealous. And also very thankful. Thank you for letting me read such a heartfelt story.

"In sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part."

Some other thoughts:

Spoiler
    • This story further cemented the idea that in novels, an entertainment company's PR department is either the company's most ens*aved or richest department, or even both. In just a few days, they need to make topics a hot search, recruit water armies, stand vigil for competitors' public statements, collect both gossip and "substantial" evidences for their statements, buy marketing accounts and "tips" to prevent news leakage, make comeback declarations, and control public opinion. This is done for every artist of the company who needs public relations. You can clearly picture how their demanding daily lives are revolve around phone calls, social media, computers, and meetings, Even more, their paycheck probably depends whether their company has sufficient funds or not. In any case, if there is even a chance that I become a character in a novel (hahaha keep dreaming), I don't want to be involve in the PR department. I would rather read a story centered around it and know their pains and gains than be a company s*ave.
    • You can see the gradual change in the MC's mindset as the story progresses. At the start, his personal goal is to live well (not surprising since he came from the age of apocalypse where death is everywhere) and use any means he can get to achieve this - even making a deal with a near-death person. But then he fell in love, which brought him tons of problems. And he change his goal of living well to living well with him. He changed his partner's mindset and the mindset of those around them with his actions. If you tell me that his actions are still due to his original goal, I won't buy it. I will consider the reason that him not leaving and solving all the worries is essential for the plot so he can't leave, but if we leave out this detail and consider only from the characters' perspective, clearly, before the onset of the climax of the story, he has enough capital to escape and leave his partner alone to deal with all troubles - he has the system, helpful "friends" in the industry, his continuously upgrading ability core, his company that he can liquidate anytime, and his talent in music, while his partner has a terminal sickness, a company with lots of in-fighting, a pe*verted stalker-artist junior, an amateurish nephew, and lots of hyena competitors who wanted a piece of his legacy once he dies. Sure, the benefits MC can get after ML dies are a lot but considering how much he has to do to get them and his competency, my guess is that he can build an equivalent business empire like Rongding in just a couple of years. MC can clearly leave all behind and live well abroad to start again, both at the present time and in the possible future, and considering his cautious mindset and his partner's all-is-well-if-you-are-happy attitude towards him, this move has a high chance of succeeding if he choose to do it. But he didn't leave. He fought with him until the end. He changed from a character who only cares about himself to a character who cares about another more than himself. And that's one of the reasons why I was moved.
    • ML also went into a gradual change in the story. From a tsun tsun overbearing president to a timid husband-s*ave, all of his actions and reactions put a smile on my face. If there is one thing that I have to note, it's how he change his mindset of waiting to die to fighting to live, and his response to this. Perhaps I am just not content, having read a distant relative's diaries of when he suffered from cancer a long time ago. I won't go into the details of his journals since it's too personal but comparing the emotions - despair, unwillingness, contentment, acceptance, determination - in that with the ones in the novel, it is somewhat lacking. I know it's not really necessary for the story to imply these so deeply so I won't subtract these points in my rating.
    • It is surprising to know who the true villain of the novel is. Considering his introduction and build-up of the story, I have an inkling that he will play a decisive role before the start of the climax. It's just that I did not deduce his role and reason completely, but if you ponder how meticulous MC is when dealing with him, it's actually not that hard to guess that he really is the ultimate villain in the author's manuscript. A twisted villain who hides in the dark is really the most difficult of them all.

MC transmigrated into a brainless romance novel from the zombie apocalypse. He starts out fairly depressed and gradually decides that living in a brainless novel is fine compared to the actual apocalypse, and it’s kind of nice to be alive and not constantly afraid and in pain. I don’t hate the premise. I mean, there’s no zombies here but if I transmigrated into a novel where all the 2020 BS didn’t exist and everything was more or less fine, I’d be pretty willing to stay there. MC is fairly sarcastic... more>> and rude to... more or less everyone, but he’s also very clear that his policy is “you push me I will kill push you.” The typical progression of events is 1. Antagonist tries to exploit MC in some way 2. MC counters and face slaps 3. Antagonist decides they’re mortal enemies now and keeps trying sh*t 4. MC crushes antagonist and then continues on with his life.

Shout out to ML for being a unicorn genuinely adorable tsundere. The dynamics between MC and ML are really nice.

About the original female lead...

Spoiler

Her gold finger ability to make people like her also inflicts brain damage on those same people. I don’t remember if this was explicitly said but it is very very strongly implied that she knows this. In the original novel, her use of her ability exacerbated ML’s brain tumor and his mother’s dementia, causing both of them to die. MC, who’s healing ability means that he can save ML’s life (as long as no one comes along and explodes his brain tumor for personal gain) refuses to let her within arms reach of ML once he figures this out.

[collapse]

And as for the original male lead

Spoiler

his mother was ML’s sister. Sister married her husband over the objections of her own family, and it turns out that her husband was a total scum just like the rest of his family. Sister died tragically early, due to the abuse of her husband and his family. She very clearly understood her mistakes but didn’t explain the complicated emotional betrayal to her 5 year old son so he doesn’t really have a clear idea of what happened. Original male lead was raised in his father’s family and they taught him that his uncle and grandmother were Big Bad Meanies who abandoned his mother and would probably try to go after him too. Meanwhile, the uncle, ML, openly hates his sister’s in laws but has been secretly planning to leave his entire company to his nephew once he can be sure his nephew isn’t being controlled by his fathers family. He’s got some convoluted but fairly genre typical plan to “hone” his nephew into a successful person by positioning himself as his nephew’s opponent. In the original novel, the original ML “wins” against his uncle basically because uncle lets it happen.

MC thinks that the nephew is an idiot, and is happy to say that to nephews’s face, but he only really stops the nephew whenever he’s blatantly trying to take advantage of his uncle.

Simply beautiful; the characters, the plot, the translation even the comments under each chapter captured me.

Edit: I came here as soon as I saw that this novel was completed, still loved it and now it raised my standards concerning CPs in any genre of novels, anime & manga 😅

These are the stuff that I especially liked:

... more>> ☆ The white was sheep's wool fox x The world's sweetest sugar jar (comes with it's own vinegar) pairing

☆ The ML's mom; she made me wish that she was mine... 😖

☆ The trusted employees (MVP status to them)

☆ The way how the rivals, antagonist and villain were dealt with (*chef's kiss)

☆ The mysterious and events were handled nicely with no over the top complications and it made sense.

☆ And last but not least, the true fans of the MC

P.S: I wish that the MC told the ML about his past life tho (๑-﹏-๑)

I really like the character of the MC. He’s a bit OP but not completely inhuman. And I usually don’t go for the tsundere type of ML (cos most of tsundere I read use that reason to be an ahole) unless the significant other is thick skinned and can keep up with the ML’s smart ass.

I've read upto ch 49 in the translation and ch 79 in the MTL. My original score is 4.25~4.5 but I enjoyed the ML's tsundere vibes too much to score it below 5.

This is the 1st novel where I love the ML more than the MC. He's a variant of the overbearing CEO type and I don't agree with how he began his relationship with the MC (No s*xual assault/non-con or dubcon, or at least not upto what I've read. Don't worry) The ML is a major TSUNDERE! ?And sometimes... more>> I just want to pinch his cheeks to tease him ? But his tsundere nature makes the romance pretty slow, like many shoujo romance novels. Overall, the ML seems good to me. He can be overbearing at times but I feel that he respects the MC and his wishes. I can understand why he hesitates though and it's a completely rational choice. As for the MC, he's the typical OP transmigrated MC. He's very scheming and clever. There hasn't been any actual bloodshed till now, which is surprising (and a bit disappointing for me ? Considering
Spoiler

the MC's original world was a zombie apocalypse

[collapse]
Most of the fights are related to showbiz or at best business management, which I don't hate, so I guess it's fine. The original ML & FML seem like cardboard cutouts to me and are useful only in case of moving the story forward. Although, in the latest chapters, the og ML seems more redeemable, the FML just seems like a complete cannon fodder. The plot itself isn't that unique but there are certain interesting quirks like the MC's original world, the slow burning, but somewhat realistic approach to romance between two strangers who've been thrust together and most importantly, the biggest tsundere ML I've seen in novels ?

Now, this novel isn't without it's share of shortcomings. The plot has many loop holes. The pace of the romance is realistic but the beginning isn't.

I would've enjoyed the novel more if the author had mentioned some songs from real life as a comparison to make us understand the music since it's a bit difficult for a noob like me to imagine the musical pieces. (I've read other novels that did that and I've enjoyed them) but that's a strictly personal preference.

Tl;dr - good novel with very slow burning romance. So you could give it a try. <<less

Sweet. And satisfying.

The romance may be “slow” but it’s pretty obvious early on that they like each other. I’m not huge on tsunderes but the ML is the adorable kind. He’s all cold ceo on the surface and a timid cutey pie underneath. His character makes perfect sense given that he’s going to die soon.

MC is a bit black bellied but it’s all aimed at drawing the ML out of his shell. His reading Always feels sweet (and funny when ML blushes/panics/escapes) but never crosses the line.

So even though it... more>> takes quite a while for the ML to face a future together that may be short, there’s plenty of sweetness early on.

This wasn’t the standard “face-slapping s*upid bullies” that I expected. Yes, the novel’s protagonist is s*upid, but there are a lot of different issues layered up, which made it feel satisfying despite the general ease with which the MC handles everything. And honestly, the idea of the system was terrifying. I wouldn’t want to face it, in any case. It changed the vibe from the MC facing a s*upid selfish ex-protag to trying to counteract a creepy, pervasive virus that could be in anyone. Which I personally dug.

No real relationship drama. They trust each other early on and there aren’t s*upid angsty misunderstandings that could be cleared up with simple communication.

ML is SUPER respectful btw. No dub con or controlling/overbearing issues. This cutie only gets a backbone when it comes to mc’s health or safety.

So if you’re on the fence about reading because it might be an uncomfortable enemies to lovers type thing in the beginning, don’t be. They’re both adorable start to finish. <<less

This is an interesting twist in the transmigration and system assist novel. Very exciting.

ML is the cutest thing in the world, he's so clumsily overbearing yet timid, and just lethally adorable, lol. MC is very OP but he's likeable and smart enough so I have no complaint.

Quite a different a but refreshing way of transmigration; Xie Yang, a survivor of a zombie apocalypse is transmigrated into a mob character of a novel.

The original owner's fate is to die at the hands of the main actors but since savage Xie Yang has arrived, no need to fear! His little butterfly wings will slowly "turntables" the original plot and Xie Yang will be able to sit on a big. Pile. Of. Money!

The story progresses smoothly and the characters have personalities of their own. I think the best way... more>> to describe it is a QT BL novel featuring the "show biznez" but everything is more detailed.

The ML is pretty interesting but the story focuses more on Xie Yang's independence of dealing with his problems so most of what you get out of the romance is cute bickering and the slow progression of Xie Yang's relationship with a tsudere.

I haven't finished it yet but Xie Yang's character is so funny and interesting I immediately came to review.

Read it. The MC being a total savage is more than enough reason. He always brings a smile to my face with his witty remarks.

100/10

This novel has interesting character settings and plot development. The protagonists' equal power dynamics are wonderful (even though the MC showed more dominance at the start of the relationship). I especially like the interactions between the main CP in the early period, where they exchanged blows unscrupulously. It's really entertaining.

However, contrary to many previous reviews, I don't think the romance is that engaging, and the MC sometimes appeared to be pretty inconsiderate.

Honestly, it feels strange every time I see the MC keep angering the ML, knowing that he has heart... more>> and brain problems and that slight emotional fluctuations can badly affect his health. Surely, the ML, too, has some emotion management issues, but it's still somewhat excusable since sick people tend to get irritated easily.

To be honest, their relationship doesn't seem organic to me. Although the attraction is mutual, it can't be denied that the MC kind of forced the ML into a relationship when he's not ready instead of letting nature take its course.

Personally, I think the period of getting to know each other could be extended when one party still has baggage in his heart, not to mention the one as serious as the ML's. There is no point in rushing to define the status and put unnecessary pressure on your loved one, especially when there's already a certificate in hand. I just don't think the way the author built up their relationship is right, and this point keeps bothering me until the later part of the story.

I was pleasantly surprised by the second villain, though. He's really... unique. I even thought the author's lost it when she suddenly introduced this character to seal off the relationship between the protagonists, but damn, his role is really interesting (and equally annoying, lol). He's really smart and careful. Even with pig teammates and the MC's golden finger, he can still do so much harm to the protagonist camp. I wish there were more brilliant villains like him. <<less

This has a typical transmigration plot, having the entertainment industry as the focus rather than the transmigration itself. There are many face-slapping moments that I always love, especially in a showbiz setting. But what I loved the most about this danmei is the MC and ML themselves.

A sickly, thin-skinned, adorable tsundere ML with a sharp mouth but soft heart and a clever, cunning and talented MC who can outwit and outplay those who provoke him and knows how to handle his tsundere husband. They might have a clashing... more>> personality at first glance, but they complete each other pretty well. No one else can deal with them but each other.

Their relationship growing from a forced marriage to 'landlord and tenant' relationship agreement and slowly but smoothly creeping up to a more intimate and romantic relationship. The transition of their relationship is so subtle and smooth that it feels so natural. Their hilarious banter from the very start is what hooked me so much. And I loved the fact that even if other people misunderstood ML's tsundere nature because of his poisonous tongue and the permanent scowl on his face, MC can still see through the surface very early on. The way he always provoke the ML into blushing by stripping him out of his hard exterior and manipulate him into speaking his real thought. It also warms me that both of them will do literally ANYTHING for each other and has an equal dedication and love. I swear, they have so much chemistry that I don't mind seeing their interactions more even after the plot ended.

Even though I loved the characters more, this also has a real plot other than just purely face-slapping. Reading this felt like I was watching a celebrity drama while eating popcorn. Highly recommend this to all modern danmei readers! <<less
