Hundreds of years ago it was ruled by Magi, people capable of magic who viewed themselves as superior to those who could not. For thousands of years they ruled over common people… but times change.
Magic is a finite resource, and with its steady depletion, the magi grew weak. Eventually they were overthrown in a great war that saw them made all but extinct. Magic fell with them, becoming taboo in every way, the object of villainy in the novels of romance and heroism.
War is a human condition, however, and it has continued to wage unerringly between the successor kingdoms and empires as the common man fights to become master of the world left behind by the magi.
Magic has gone, but power remains, now wielded in the form of firearms and manpower. Muskets echo on the fields and cannons thunder on the ocean, even more so now that the greatest kingdoms on the continent have pushed out to colonise the far-away land known as Nubissia.
Born into this world of chaos is a young man, reincarnated from a salaryman in 21st century China. Lacking the prejudice against magic, and possessing a hobbyist’s knowledge of firearms and tactics, our young protagonist forges his path in a world where magic and musket war.

This part was the most fun part in this novel! The 5 stars part.
Mehhh... the 2 stars part, no logic, no character building, some adventures for the action scenes.
Gruesome scenes, with refreshing side stories. OP tactics time. 4 stars!
A chapter can cover a week or half a year worth of time. Dialog is 2-3 sentences. More like a history, with inner monologue. Magic is only used for manufacturing guns
The 2-3 stars part, slipping in a downwards spiral.
While at the beginning motivation was clearly defined, it does not exist these later chapters.
MC became a military top general, who can brake and does brake the top empire for the loot.
The missed drama. Chapter 576 & 577 His own mother sues him to shake money out of the MC for an astronomically huge sum. MC is boiling, this is the time for some sweat drama!
But he only sends his representative and pays, shocking not only his enemies, but the readers as well.
It is also clear for the MC someone is instigating her (spoiled in her old age) mother, but meh... don't care.
Than stirs up his own kingdom making an enemy from his own king.
Passing remarks of war crimes and hundred thousands dead in every 10th-20th chapters. So I keep reading, who knows, maybe there is a 5th type of novel hiding after this arc is finished.
Maybe his enemies will uncover MC is secretly a mage and all his personal material gains are gone in a second. Maybe we get an elderly mage covenant story (MC, his nature mage lover, his alchemist sister and battle mage younger brother).
beginning from military commandment at first, following both 1 and 2 prince then all nobles in army an so on
