Well I have two opinions about this novel it was fun to read some scenes were hilarious and some were irritating. I really did find the MC irritating and the ML was quite understanding as he forgave her for all the lies that she said and was waiting for her to give explanations. Hats off to the ML for his understanding and in a way I left that ML deserve someone better.

It's actually 2.5 stars, and I wonder why I round it up to 3 stars.

Is this really josei? I mean... The story is like tv soap: a supposedly good idea, but dragged oooonnn by the author.

The humor is okay, the translator did their best relaying & explaining the jokes.

The FL's character is like written just for whatever the author wants, not well built. Not believable, and its it's really hard to understand how the FL is supposed to cater to josei audience--i think as a whole, this novel should go... more>> to shojo category. It only enters josei due to some pretty well bed scenes.

ML is your typical ML, and it gets 2 dimensional somehow. Like... Even the most OP ML in other fantasy novels have better character built up than this one.

I believed most reviews initally, there was just 1 review that stated how this was a good idea but badly executed. After finishing the book, I wholeheartedly agree with that person and am now going to give their review a heartfelt thumbs up. <<less

it's quite a funny novel, and the FL is really shameless. One reviewer questioned the depth of her emotions with the ex, but FL did mention the ex being the colour in her dull life in a particular time, and who likes a cheating scum?? So yeah I dont really think time has to do with anything on how deep fl's emotions were with her then bf. Anyway I was blind the first few chapters and misread qin lezhi and qin shiyue and thought they were the same person, I... more>> was so confused. The story iteslf is quite good, loved their interactions, a bit of face slapping going on, a decent read for sure. <<less

3.5 rounded up because I think the ML is a troll.

A novel that is really about one major misunderstanding that leads to some of the most childish flirting I have ever read. Otherwise, it's a fairly calm read even though it often leads to questioning the level of intelligence these characters are supposed to have.

The MC is a young financial journalist who is incredibly good at her job. She's smart and dedicated but pretty damn immature when it comes to interacting with the ML. Her relationship with the ML begins... more>> with a misunderstanding created by her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. As noted in the synopsis, the ex cheated and the MC goes right for the jugular by trying to date the uncle of the new girlfriend.

Surprise! That's not actually the girlfriend's uncle. It turns out her uncle is the driver of the rich ML. Which, while a predictable twist, was pretty hilarious. Especially in the scene when the ML jealously says he believes every man was chasing the MC and the driver flat out says "Not me!" which ruins the slightly romantic environment.

The ML is the head of a bank and is not too much older than the MC. It was love at first sight for him, but he treats her the same way a little boy would treat their crush. Some of his actions are downright bullying. He is kind of written as an outwardly cold and unfeeling character which makes him seem like the opposite side of the personality spectrum from the MC.

His PoV of seeing her for the first time was actually really cute but seemed completely unlike the way he was written in the rest of the story. He literally chases after her and only stops at the moment when he sees her with her ex (who was her boyfriend at the time).

Never mind that our first introduction with him is someone who basically ignored her all day despite agreeing to an interview with her. The affection does kind of show up when he actually does get to the interview as he provides her with longer answers than for the other person who interviewed him.

We join the story on her boyfriend's birthday, when she has finally gotten the agreement to interview the ML, she chooses to postpone their evening for her job. This night is the second last nail in the coffin for their relationship as she accidentally discovers him cheating the next day. From there, she sets out with the intention of seducing the uncle of her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. She assumes this to be the ML and proceeds to pursue him with childish enthusiasm. And childish actions.

The character is so childish that I started skipping portions of her dialogue when she was trying to hook the ML. The MC is supposed to be this mature and responsible journalist so it was too much of a disconnect for me. Especially when she would do something a fourteen year old would and then suddenly start thinking dirty about the ML (nothing explicit, just gives a little bit of whiplash).

The ending of the Ex isn't quite satisfactory either. I mean, he doesn't get a happy ending but the story is short so we only really get one moment of him showing up to try and get the MC back (it does backfire obviously). Maybe I'm a terrible person but I would have liked to see more consequences for him.

He was a greedy SoB who was constantly playing the field. He pursued the MC for three years in College while having someone on the side in case it didn't work. She didn't date during College (as her parents didn't want her to) so she finally accepted his pursuit after they graduated.

It never states if the MC's family is wealthy but she was considered the beauty of their class which was why he was interested in her. Once he mistakes the new girlfriend as the niece of a wealthy man (by the car that her uncle is driving and picks her up at one point), he begins to pursue her and then dumps the MC.

So, we see at the end that the new girlfriend finally realizes that he won't stay with her once he realizes that she's just an office worker. They break up and he shows up drunk at the MC's apartment. The girl's uncle beats him up a little before the ML shows up and eventually threatens him to never show up again in the MC's life.

And that's it. He never shows up again. Guess he really did take the ML's threat seriously.

Overall, it's a fun read into how one misunderstanding can affect so many different things. <<less

Genuinely couldn't bother with this one. I gave it 14 chapters (28 if you go by how they break each chapter up) qnf it got more and more aggravating. It's one of those stories that's meant to be a slow burn but in reality both the ML and FL are incompatible and theres no reason I would root for them nor hee conniving ex.

Rating was supposed to be 3 stars but the longer I read the more dislike I felt towards the story. This is usually my cup of tea but for some reason I can't really connect on this one.

FL is strong, beautiful and has a good job so I am not really sure why he is so hellbent on getting revenge with her ex when the description seems that she wasn't really that attracted to him. I usually love me some dumb FLs but she kinda irks me on the decisions... more>> that she has made along the story. I thought it would get better once the ML know about the secret but it actually became more unbearable for me. I know the FL was also hurting and I am not expecting some groveling from the FL but the way they got back together and FL's attitude afterwards left a bitter taste in my mouth. Maybe I was expecting too much from the way MLs apologize when they do things like this but this made me really frustrated.

I love the ML on this one even tho I really dislike how the way author was building his character. The disconnect of describing him as some sort of financial mogul when he can be seen actually anywhere by a reporter lol. ML is the typical CEO tsundere for me but he was more memorable because I was so dissatisfied with the FL. Seriously this guy became more romantic because of the FL demands and was actually the reason they got back together. He was basically carrying their relationship too much.

Overall, I read this novel with too much expectations and when my brain was functioning on it's highest peak. The humor didn't hit me and I was continously thinking the logic of the story that's why I didn't enjoy this one as much as I would have like to. Anyone who has read same stuff like this one before might like it very much so just turn off your brain when reading this and get swayed by the fluff. <<less

I seriously love this novel😍😍😍, it's so cute, hilarious, and educative. I love the way the MC did not use the ML to promote herself at work. The MC is so hardworking and funny in her way. She wasn't boring to be with even though she is a workaholic. If he didn't love her, don't think he find another person like her 🤗🤗. I thank the translator for translating this, may God increase your strength more ijn.

I only want to give 3.5 cos there were some part that irritated me for some reason like In the beginning where the FL fake script were still on going and after her lie were exposed and her way of handling matters for a 25 yrs seemed immature to me or maybe my expectations on FL is a bit high after reading jiaochen/BFM in70s etc. Like I'm too used to the main characters who communicate and a slight misunderstanding can be resolved by talking and being honest even about small... more>> thing *chef kiss*. Although I Iike FL who takes the initiative and bold but at least have some dignity and don't appear too cheap and Knows how retreats and advanced. At first she's only giving me a second hand embarrassment but as it went on it becomes annoying.. she acts like those annoying cannon fodder who's trying so hard to please the ML by cheap and shameless method. Ik she's doing it for revenge but is it really worth it to lower herself like that For a scum like her ex bf? Like shi yan literally treat her like an air and embarrassed her a few times which reasonable with how shameless she was acting... I would treat her the same. although I find sy annoying for being too cold but it's also her fault for being too insincere. Like There's are other method to get back at her ex bf so I find her reasons for revenge is rather immature, and after her lies were exposed rather than explaining herself or at least make some effort to appease him she tried to run away from her problem with only one word "sorry" just when she started to realize her feelings and SY also started showing her affection. she tried to get away from it lol Shes a coward, but even so, although it was her who messed up sy still takes the initiative to appear in front of her again and again but instead of conveying her feelings she acts like a green tea bit*h who sells her misery thus the s*upid misunderstanding prolonged. at that point I'm skimming thru the chapter. also when SY started showing that he liked her she questioned him why ? 🤦 like tf do u mean why he's here? If not cos he care about u. Few word can solved the problem but they both dumb so... haha but at least there is some characters improvement after the misunderstanding and when they're together I started to like her more. thats probably the only part that I liked in this novel and also the wedding scene where I want to give so I rounded it to 4star. ah I also want to mention about how cliche some of the scenes are 😂 it's like the author decided to binged those low budget cdrama and cramped some of the scenes into this novel. But it's okay I love cliches that's why I still enjoyed this despite the criticism above.

I was really excited tho cos I've read most of the comments says "it's cute and fluffy" with exclamation mark.. like where? Have u read transmigrated into the boss little fairy? That's what u called cute and fluff. But I think if I was still in my teen age day I would enjoy this story very much

Ps: I hope there were extra chapters about qing yue and yuo yo tho. Sigh another cold jerk who would be killed if he said more than 3 word... But their story is pretty cute so I want more ? <<less

1000/100 stars, I loved, loved loved it so much!

This is a story about a woman on a misguided attempt to woo a cold man, and failing miserably. It was funny and cringy a lot of times, but my god I loved every moment of it. Let's start by what I loved about the story:

The ML is not interested. At all. He is the top player and he knows it, he is suspicious of FL's behaviour and doesn't fall for her antics. There is no, "she was special for some reason... more>> so I'm attracted to her" or, "she catches my eye for some reason" tropes, he just doesn't care about her for the longest time. This might tick some people off but I loved it, cause really, why would a guy like him look at the FL? Very realistic and it makes it sooo worthwhile when he starts to get whipped. Him wooing her was my absolute favorite part of this story cause all the chase was so worth it. I'm glad the author made the ML like that.

As for the FL, she is a beauty and she knows it, due to misguided attempts she woos the wrong person, and her antics are... special. At points you just want to beg her to give up (cause the ML is really cold) but she just bulldozes on. Though her antics were fun, there were points (really there were a lot) where the ML gave her chances to explain herself and tell the truth, yet she digs and digs herself even further, and you feel like screaming at her to just be honest, but she isn't. At least she knows what she did wrong and actively takes responsibility for it.

As for the conflict, something I really appreciated was:

How Shi Yan didn't forgive Zheng Shuyi for her betrayal, yet he was willing to be with her cause he was so in love with her. This just showed how desperate he was to be with her, yet letting her know at the same time that what she did was frankly unforgivable, and it isn't brushed under the carpet, but they heal slowly from that

I think the way the conflict was solved was perfect.

Overall, it is not an angsty story, but mostly how the FL gets rejected lol. This story is surely going to be one of my favorite stories ever on NU, thank you translators for such great translations and explanations, I really enjoyed this one! <<less

This has got to be one of the funniest cutest book I've read!

It's so funny when you know the whole situation and the characters are there laughing thinking that their plan is so ingenious but it's just pure disaster HAHAHA Like I really laugh a lot when MC told her plan to the REAL niece and the real niece thought her plan was good not knowing that the uncle was her uncle. And both still laughed.

Anyway this is definitely one of the fluffy and light reads. If you want face... more>> slaps there is some slight like the confrontation with the ex bf and all. But mostly it's just about MC flirting and getting attention from ML. And ML knowing her schemes but still plays along even if he doesn't want to but his heart can't lie.

Do you have time to kill for an easy-read novel that you don't need to think to much about? Then read this! There are hilarious and cringe-worthy moments that you'd feel Fremdschämen for the FL. The ML has the typical and atypical aura of a wealthy snob CEO who is justified in what he does. The elements for a Chinese modern rom-com are all here, including the multiple layer of misunderstanding and Protagonist-halo. So just enjoy the easy short read of this novel.

The story premise has so much potential but was not well executed. For example,

The ML having an earlier encounter with FL was only revealed later and summarized in the ending. The author could have built this up instead of just showing ML sneering here and there on the FL's embarrassing actions to get his attention. It's like the author suddenly remembered that there's this important element that would keep the ML from putting up with the FL.

Due to this many readers must have missed this point and felt the FL didn't deserve the ML.

that made me tear up when the FL realized how she strung the wrong person due to an earlier misunderstanding with her ex-boyfriend on who the "uncle" was. She realized that she eventually has fallen in love with the fish dragon she's been trying to reel in but now that things have been revealed to the ML, she won't get the chance to love him back.

Another part that made me accept the author's skills are on how she made the other people around the protagonists appear and disappear. They have relevance in pushing the story forward and then the author skillfully allowed them to go back to their routines. There is no need to always herd them all into each scenes.

Of course there are many illogical point that would make you want to nitpick. Just like how did the FL truly know that ML found out that she targeted him for revenge. Just because he glared and ignored her? We the readers were given information but she suddenly felt the ominous thing happening. Or the inconsistent characteristics of the FL: from someone who was described classy, intelligent and gorgeous to someone who acts likes an idiot, insecure and overly emotional. Who seem to have lost any growth from what she went through instead acted all the more pampered and spoiled afterwards.

It could also be due to how it is truly difficult to translate the Chinese expression to English and everything was lost in translation. This is not the fault of the translators, they did a good job (except for a few pronoun mix ups). There are just a certain number of ways translators can get the translation to exactly match the Author's meaning (and hidden meaning), so many times some translations need to have the context explained or revised to match the culture of the readers' language. The translators already did a good job in keeping with the proper translation without having to do excessive explanation or re-writing scene to make it relevant to readers.

Overall, glad I finished the novel and could move on to the next one. <<less

This was such an enjoyable read. While full of cliches, it had its own charm and it left me wanting for more. FL's antics are so chaotic, I feel embarassed for her. Love that ML had the patience to indulge her. This is a light read. Don't think too much when reading this. Just go with the flow of the story.

I LOVE THIS NOVEL!! No love rival or heavy misunderstanding ~~ FL is nice too cuz she's not a weak and a crybaby kinda girl & ML damnnn it's not like the typical ML (the selfish immature possessive ceo type). He's a gentleman and sweet <3 I repeat I love this novel!! I need qin shiyue and yu you's story though ^^

I really love this novel. The ML is quite cold and a bit of a bully in the first part of the novel, but later on, he became quite sweet and very shameless lol. I also really love the FL, she's really amazing and funny. All the moments between the couple are very sweet

Funny and quick paced. The story does not lose logic nor does it lose it's speed. You will have fun at all times. The female lead is shamelessly chessy and cute and the male lead despite being cold is never disrespectful.

Read, read, read!!! (If you like romance-comedy of course)

I really enjoyed this novel because the characters are extremely funny and have a fleshed out personality. While the ML falls into the category of handsome, cold, powerful CEO that we see so often in novels, he’s very enigmatic and not 2-D. Like I don’t know how to explain it but he’s different LOL. He’s probably one of my favorite ML. The FL is one of a kind, I like how she’s portrayed as a hardworking, smart woman.

the ML discovers her true intentions in approaching him and they fight/begin to ignore each other, although she is depressed, she still does her work diligently. I know it’s a small unimportant detail but it annoys me when authors portray women as dumb, mess up their work or slack off when they face love problems/ fight with their boyfriend.

Additionally, the interactions between the FL and ML are hilarious especially when they message each other.

The plot is great though it does seem a bit unrealistic how everything unfolded and came to be.

Overall it’s a wonderful, smile-inducing read that you won’t regret!! 5/5 plus the translation is top notch!!! <<less

Nice, a little bit repetitive thus a little bit boring.

But, the main characters, ML and FL are very mature, witty, and persistent. So, a steady relationship.

Laugh at every chapter. Great read. Some people dont seem to like FL but I like her wit. She's really funny. And unlike some novels out there that main characters forced to have contact this didn't happened here
