Year 24XX. With several hundred years of improvements, virtual reality has become more mature. It had gradually become humanity’s second world. Socializing, working, studying and other everyday things could all be done while sleeping.

Along with the rise in virtual reality systems, virtual games also developed successfully. Additionally, with the vigorous support of the government; every season, games continued to be born, be changed, competed with each other, and be reborn.

Ye Cang is a black bellied, underachieving, 2nd year student at a city college. He appears to have been cured of his albinism yet his story is still full of mystery. In the game ‘New Age – Conviction’, he began walking the path of a professional gamer. An all-rounder ranger, dark cooking, with a nasty disposition, willing to do anything. He’s slowly creating his own legend.

It was a fun read but after a while I realised I was annoyed!

This MC, strong and smart, acting dumb and weak for some reason is really unlucky. It was funny in the beginning but it started to piss me off.

There are too many people in the party and he gets almost nothing, especially when they roll for an item!

I would've loved it if he was not so unlucky and if there were not so many players in the party. I bet he could create stronger skills but I won't... more>> read it anymore.

One of the few novel that makes me impatient to read more, as you want to learn about the past of the protagonist and his friend.

The comedy is fun, but sometimes it's overused and forced, still it won't take away your fun.

The setting as of now is good, hopefully the authors doesn't screw up.

There are few indicators that will let you know how the story will develop (from my POV), and it's leading toward cliché and overused plot, I just hope the authors will do a good job with his writing

I agree with Mavsynchroid and clowred 's comments. I think they gave bad reviews because they were disappointed.

There really are a lot of repetitive and useless for the story game MMO elements. Also the jokes with the bad cooking and the unlucky looting were fun at the beginning, but are now a bit annoying. Indeed there are things that can be written better.

Even so I would still rate the novel with 5 starts. The reasons are there are still fun and enjoyable moments, the story is good, the character development... more>> is not half bad (to this point) and I also hope that with progressing of the story these flaws will diminish.

So I think it's worth for people to read it for themselves and decide. Being disappointed is still better than hating it or not caring. <<less

Well for the sake of people who would like to read this and are hesitating to read this, Please read this review, hahahahaha (note:I'm really writing it legit!!!)

This WN is a hidden gem, really!!! If not for having to many free time (AKA can't sleep properly at night) I would have not found this, I have been hooked for 2 weeks on reading WN w/ game elements, such as Rebirth of the Thief who roamed the world, Reign of Hunters, Emperor of solo play and This MC is kickass... more>> and I was looking for other WN, I stumbled on this story a few days back and was hesitating on reading this after reading the synopsis because it was to bland and I thought it was boring or something, then I decided to read some reviews and a lot has given it a good review but still I was too anxious to read it.......... then just a few hour ago since it was raining and school was suspended I thought that I might still give it a shot so I read the first chapter...

REVIEW

the story is very good and is easily understood, what got to me is that I can't seem to help but laugh as I go through the story and because of the characters personality which was both quirky and ingenious (not the good smart way but the bad smart one). I was surprised that I was already laughing on the first chapter, I would not say I was already hooked on the plot because as of now it's too early to tell, but just for the character's personality and their antics I gave it a go...I might edit this review as I go through further in the story so everyone can catch up on it.

I personally think that 4 stars is enough but it might get 4.5-5 stars more in the future reviews.

for other WN w/ game elements I recommend you....

A lighthearted and fun to read VR MMORPG type of novel. All of the elements that you want to see on a novel is well balanced here, plot development and character developments as well (in game and irl).

All in all if you're just looking for a novel to leisurely read then give this one a chance. There's not a lot of arrogant type enemies, random female characters popping up here and there. Just pure comedic interaction with Mc's and his jolly friends

It's one the best modern day novel out there it's a good story with balance of action adventure drama and comedy I would recommend this novel to those who want both everyday life and OP adventures story.

English translation are upto only 990 chapters that's the only CON for me.

Started off good at around 100 -150.

There were some good laughs and jokes but they started really beating the joke into the ground

The bad cooking joke just gets completely overused. Expected him to learn something eventually so he could make good food and bad, but no always bad never learns.
The MC being obsessed with looting and getting absolutely nothing every time, thought he might eventually tone it down a bit but never does.

There are some more grips I have about the novel, also liked SpyingBlade's small arc

Only reason I gave 2 stars is because I got some laughs out of it. Would not recommend

I’m not so good at writing reviews so I’ll just mention what are the pros and cons.

Pros

  • funny - the story is very funny and creative, making you laugh every so often.
  • slow build up - personality wise, the characters grow very slowly, its already 700 chapters yet the main character has grown so little (this is the perspective of the readers) - (realistically, using the story time it is a fair amount of growth)
  • creative - the story literally has all the tropes out there - aliens, cultivation, hidden orgs, mutants, beasts, human modification, sci-fi elements, etc.
  • interesting characters - there are a whole slough of cool and lovable characters in the story as well as some detestable ones like th**nyrose
  • randomness - the story will keep making you guess and guess on what will happen
  • op mc - the story has multiple op characters, them being the main characters and their rivals. The characters though aren’t completely omniscient as the can get crushed (although rarely)
Cons

  • repetitiveness - the jokes become extremely repetitive by the 500th chapter (at least for me) the humor becomes stale and you rarely laugh at the story by the 600th chapter
  • writing - the translation isn’t great, you can see how bad it is somewhere in the 300th chapter, by that point you’ll have troubles reading the story in general
  • op MC - like all stories with op mcs, the author just pulls random stuff to make the characters stronger, while the story justifies some of the characters power-ups, most are just given to them by using a character’s insane luck
  • characters - you know the author is really good at making a character when you can hate them wholeheartedly because the author made them so (th**nyrose)
  • world building - the story rarely builds up the world, and when made it is done terribly
  • forced occurrences - while part of what makes it funny, some occurrences are forced and make the story awkward to read
Overall the story is very nice early on, but it then gets very repetitive by the 400th chapter. Sure some chapters going forward are funny, but most have gone either stale.

While Ye Cang’s back story is cool as well as the prospects of what would happen in the future are interesting, you would only see any significant progress after 200 - 300 chapters after the first sign of progress

The two other MCs also show significant character growth, but they aren’t as interesting as the Ye Cang.

I honestly hope that the author would switch things up at this point as the story was quite interesting to read, but at this point all I can hope for is one funny moment. <<less

The novel was really fun to read during the first few chapters and I really liked the characters even though we dont get to know much about the background of our said MC and his brothers. Everything was good and I really liked the pace of how it was going as Im a really big fan of VRMMORPG genre. Besides a lot of excluded info about the whole game world and how games are affecting their RL, everything was great; the comedy made me laugh and the characters are also... more>> awesome. Banzai OP MC!! BUT! but.... then the most fated meeting came so spoilers ahead....

Everything was fine and dandy until the MC shot an arrow on (the knee) ahem* in her (our female lead I guess?) butt... that was when the unending gag of a girl beating up, stealing, leeching, complaining, scheming and just down right b*tching about everything the MC does... I know it was funny the first few times but her being a constant whining bit*h and thinking herself superior while trying to bu*t in everything the MC does made me and will make other readers as well very annoyed. yeah sure, he mistakenly shot her in the ass but that doesnt give her the qualification to try and get in the way of our MC everytime he does something. she just waltz in our MCs party and try to take the quest that she has no right to and what is her excuse? because our MC and brothers are pigs who are hogging all the good loot? on a MMORPG game? where equipments and stats matter? I've played a multitude of rpg grindy games and seen some leeches too but the way this girl interpreted her actions says that everything good only belongs to her. I mean if the MC wasnt even there to initiate a quest I think it would never have even started by any others in the first place. and sure I tolerated it as it is fictional but even if it is so, you cant just read a novel without feeling any emotions towards the story or its characters. I started to get even more annoyed when she started acting as a leader when fighting like, she just comes to the party of our MC, starts giving instructions on how to do things, and starts to complain if the MC does anything. she even has the gall to send a spy in their party on the excuse that "they might hog all the good stuff for themselves" AGAIN. I mean wtf is this? from this point its just a load of sh*t the girl does to try and benefit and leech as much as she can off of our MC who doesnt even care because he too cool for school (but I dont really hate our MC, its just that he doesnt do sh*t and acts like a masochist at time while on some occasion becomes emotional... I get that he is an

artificial human trying to become more human but the TV series he watches made him a masochist who can grow his balls back after being crushed and I dont even doubt that our MC can grow his crushed balls given how OP he is.

I've given up on the notion that it will ever end.. and at this point Im just done with this novel and finally come to my conclusion that I am dropping this.. But you guys might find it great as most people might like the synergy between the two of them but Im only seeing a s & m play and femdom while MC acts indifferent towards everything but goes along with everything she says

Im just complaining at this point but overall, a great novel was ruined by the author by placing an annoying girl as the female lead? and repeating jokes. <<less

This is the most hilarious novel I have ever red in my life, I couldn't stop laughing whenever I read it.

I actually really wanted to give it 5 stars because of the comedy but in my personal opinion this novel is a little bit frustrating which is why I have given it 4 stars. The MC and his bros low IQ and his childish behavior in-game contradict his tragic past and his past behaviour. This novel is really not serious one which I... more>> find it a little bit lacking (interaction of MC with others and romance). Although this is what makes huge part of the comedy in this novel but its just that I find it frustrating. The world setting is mostly unexplained which can be a little confusing.

The RPG game elements in this story are presented pretty good compared to other novels.

If you just want to read something casual and funny then I absolutely recommend reading this. But if you look for something more dramatic and serious with intense plot then you shouldn't rush reading it but it still highly recommended as a comedy novel.

Edit - until chapter 540 - 5 stars. actually after chapter 310 its get better and less frustrating and I would give it 5 stars (Unfortunately I can't change it). Until the last translated chapter it's still funny as hell and the story get better. <<less

Nice and funny story that doesn't go too far with logic. A tale of three idiots playing a vr game and the mayhem that insues from their antics. It's well written and has a good pacing.

Pros:

Quite funny

Unique characters with distinct personalities.

Real world, VR world is well blended.

Cons

Author uses the same jokes a bit too much to where you actually start skipping some of the text.

Overall, a funny novel that doesn't try too hard to overreach while giving enough to keep the reader interested and the story going.

Ok... now where do I start...I just read it so I'm gonna give 4 star first

This novel? It's so good at the beginning! Everything was fine. The comedy was good, somewhat ok in the VRMMO field... and that happened

Plot: Basically Shura's wrath in Ye boi's past.

The Comedy:Really funny at first. cooking monstrous food, Ye boi's bad luck and more. But it got bad later on... Does the author freaking think that overusing jokes time to time again would work? Of course not! But still in overall it's quite ok I... more>> guess.

VrMMO: starts out good but get confusing later. How in the world did they get that much op stuff in a BEGINNER village. It was supposed to have only fundamental stuff like normal grade thing.

Companions:Now this is what's getting on my nerves. ThorneyRose: annoying as hell, "your quest is my quest even if you don't want to share you need to" Hopefully this will change.

Nationality:What do you expected? It's all the same thing all over again.

But the good part I see clearly is the author didn't have the "arrogant master" or "making trouble anywhere" because they reconcile with each other and that is very unique in the Chinese novel. <<less

A comical ploy with hidden darker shades in the life of the MC.

The civilization is ultra advanced, yet somehow the MC is unknown, maybe its bcz he's that well hidden by others. Only read if you dnt want to find logical reasoning for the many actions of the pivotal characters. most of them can be called silly to the point of simply bonkers.
